Spookie, never new aloe bloomed. Hmm, I might have to get some. Love the flower.

GS is very observant. Rode his scooter we got him and told his dad it was like snowboarding. He's been doing that for about three years and loves it. His sister prefers skiing. I was surprised when he mentioned houses with basements. He went down to ours and noticed basement windows in other houses. No basements in the houses I've been to over there. Told us all about the Titanic. Huh what, I didn't know about the Titanic when I was eight. Was doing homework and writing about his visit to the Air and Space Museum downtown and about the aircraft carriers. Asked Grandpa where they are built and Grandpa told him they are built in VA. Wasn't so sure about what VA is so I reminded Grandpa that would be the equivalent of a prefecture. Love their culture.

Smaarty, love your pictures of Ireland. Brings back wonderful memories. Was amazed at how green everything is over there.

Ok, I got lost a bit in Sas's conversation. Whew thought it was me.

DH paid $2.33 today - regular. Still haven't seen eggs come down in price. I paid $2.50/dozen a few weeks ago at Sprouts for "cage free". Didn't care what they were, just wanted them for the price.

This is a pony tail Palm. Up north it is a house plant. Been so wet this summer it bloomed too. Aloe might bloom in a pot up north if summered outside. image

I'm heeeere! I just slept most of Wednesday after I worked 58 hours in 5 days. The hours are pretty much standard summer fare around here. But considering that it was post-chemo days 8-12, it wiped me out. Funny story about my OCD....The toilet seat was loose in the ladies room on Sunday night and even with my mild OCD, I had to fix it. I was really trying to crank down on the nut and my hand slipped and I punched the back of the toilet, putting a hole in the porcelain....yeah, I'm graceful like that. I got a tiny bruise on the knuckle of my pinky finger, a little cut from the procelain and a huge lymphedema reaction! Oy.

So for radiation, the internal rads was not recommended for my tumor type. The only thing I can think of was that it was grade 2 and a T1c (1.8 cm). I opted to do the 4 weeks of the heavier dose of radiation rather string it out over 6 weeks.

Boyd--I hope everything went well with the biopsy.

Sas--Thanks for the link on rads. I think I mentioned that my dad collects cut and pressed glass. His late friend and his friend's wife wrote a book on Higbee glass: http://www.amazon.com/Bryce-Higbee-J-B-Glass/dp/157080043X

(Lola is a retired RN and ran the nursing program at our local junior college for many, many years. She's still going at 82 but was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer 2 years ago. As far as bedside manner, Lola was Florence Nightengale compared to my mother's Nurse Ratchet!)

Smarty -- beautiful hotel. Finnstown, right? We looked at that one but opted to stay in town after I found a great deal at the Clarence.

Chevy--the mushroom reminded me of the corpse flower I went to see bloom a few years back (2010?) at the Huntington Library near Pasadena:

Goats--$3.45 but it was over $4 a few weeks ago. The cost of crude was way down but the manufacturers claimed that there was a shortage of the type of gas required in California.

Marlanab- I want to go to the Huntington Library/Gardens next time I am in southern Cali. My sister lives out that way. I also got contacted about some new work in Orange County so who knows, maybe will be in that area again soon! That flower is SO cool.

Did I read Chevy is growing weeds or weed?

Did we hear from Boyd today?

Dear Tres - Whatcha doing up so late? Yes, I had to go back to page 915 to see Chevy's thoughts on French and anything else that comes to her mind. Sorry you spit out your Pepsi. Stop in often for more hilarity.

Chevy, I liked the Willie Nelson song. Farther down the list was "I'll never smoke weed with Willie again" Pretty funny.

Loverly -- I know, right? I think it may have actually been a thin spot in the porcelain. And beautiful pics of the wedding. I'm in awe that there was only a minor glitch with the ring bearer...had that been on of my two doofuses (doofusi?), they would have peed on every chair down the aisle then tried to chase seagulls as they dragged the poor little handler down the beach.

Marla! That is beautiful in a way.... Winking! Those pots are the size of the pots I found out in the alley.... 8 of them... One had a piece of tape saying White Rhino, which I looked up, and is a strain of marajuana... So I have real pot pots...Ha!

I'm thinking of putting a small shrub in a couple, and putting them out on the parking, hoping they will winter over in the pots instead of being in the ground.

We had a lightning storm last night! Not much rain, but this morning my computer wouldn't sign on! Had to finally un-plug everything, and start all over!

Saw there had been a sinkhole opened up in your area. Thought that was a Florida thing. Be careful!!!

  • jazzygirl
    jazzygirl Posts: 12,047

Spookie- we had one here recently too. Sinkholes are everywhere these days, a lot of them in the urban areas have to do with eroding/collapsing subsurface utilities that are causing roadways and the like to fall in. Not like your Florida ones that are just carbonate rocks eroding from the water table. There was a bad one in NYC recently too!
