Sas, you did great! You are a bigger person than I would have been! If it were my ex-mother-in hate I would have quietly gone up to her and gave her the same look back and then yelled BOO!! She'd have had a heart attack. My first child was born on their 25th Anniversary and it didn't change a thing. Then I had the first girl in the family in 4 generations and that made it even worse! She even had the audacity to offer me $$$$ to allow her to raise my children after I divorced her two timing drunk son! WTH?!? Some people never learn to be decent human beings. I wouldn't change my now DMIL for anything in the world! Now I feel so much better getting that out!

Anyone else? Thanks for taking part 😜

Peter rabbit fabric- not at fabric.com. Did find some on eBay, $20 yard. No way! Have you tried 5bucksayard.com? Pretty good stuff there.

This is what I got done today. It now after dinner and I'm paying for sitting all day. These are not pretty, swollen cankles! Hopefully it will go down once I'm in bed.

Going to start a tuffet next.

Sensi, thought I was going to miss the heat wave but guess not, bummer.

Sassy- sorry to hear your outlaws were never nice to you. It makes it harder when there is a sick person in the middle, harder to avoid people like that. Your comment about the whole family never treating you nice, probably also means they treated each other like crap too. I need to remember to bring the book when I see difficult people, I like that. "Talk amongst yourselves, I will be over here with my book." Message sent, right?

I have a former SIL who was so horrible to our family when my brother was ill. She was a miserable person before then, high demand and never happy with anything, but worse when things got really hard. I learned not to expect a mean person to be any better during a crisis. After my bro died, I kept in touch because of a nephew but then moved a few years later to the west. My nephew is now in his mid 20s and can keep in touch without her in the middle. I like it like that.

She remarried awhile back, and whenever our family is back east, my sister says "we need to go see her." ha ha, I don't! The last time I agreed to that, she spent the whole dinner going on and on about her brother in law. He clearly has some sort of serious cognitive thing going on and sat there while she went off on that whole family. Afterwards, my sister and I drove away and my sister said "wow, I am surprised she got in to all that with us." I told her I was not surprised and that it just confirmed she is still a horrible person, zero empathy. We have limited connection and would be happy to have none at all really.

Some people show us what not to be in life, right?

Smaarty - Sorry the fabric.com site wasn't helpful. I've never heard of the 5 bucks a yard site. Will check it out when I get home.

Beautiful work on the Mariners Star quilt.

I brought my knitting with me, but have only knitted like 10 rows so far. Will get more done later. Also had an employee here at the SNF special order a crib blanket from me, so will defiantly have to get on the stick once home.

Jazzygirl - you're so right about mean people! Just read an article on manipulative people this morning.

Your green sandles are probably in the same place as Shep's lavender oil and my green crib blanket. "The Black Hole"

Sorry I left mid-post. O.T. came to my room to take me to do some cardiovascular exercise. They use a machine with hand pedals. Surprising how much energy you exert. Good for me though!

Loverly - Beautiful beach pics. Garden box just getting started. Harvest will be satisfying.

Shep - How are you doing today?

Sas - When I hear (read) stories like your in law one, I am thankful I never married. But there are times when I see family's that have good relationships, I am a bit sad that I don't have the same. Relationships are so hard.

Feline - I do try to hold onto my sense of humor, but not always successful. In that particular case I was totally serious. The groin pain was/is making me worry that this surgery was for naught. P.T. told me yesterday that groin pain is common in hip patients, and to give it at least until 10-12 weeks post-op. I sure hope she's right.

    Will check back later.

JunieB ~ popping in quick before going to my "real" doc for a going over. Foot is still ukcy and rest of body still complaining. Your hip is uckier by far :( 10-12 weeks to wait for relief? I would imagine there would be some mild longer term discomfort.....but PAIN for that long? I hope PT was talking out her arse; that does not sound right! What does your doc say? Feel free to borrow my "stern voice" to demand that you get an immediate fix for your pain. Totally unacceptable for you to be in any kind of distress. Again wish we were closer.....I am awesome to have along for medical stuffs. Girl, I'd have them bringing you chocolate and Valium dipped strawberries and giving you manicures. They all would be scurrying to make sure you were comfortable 'cuz they wouldn't want me coming after 'em :) Totally true! (well, maybe just that last bit - my wrath is fearsome!)

Jazzy ~ I found my lavender oil! It really does feel nice on my foot. I didn't see your sandals or JunieB's blanket....hmmm, they are both green.....must be blending in together.

Smaarty ~ Your feet are lovely! Sorry for your puffed up ankles :( Hope they are better today. Very pretty anklets! Benjamin Bunny for Benjamin....love it! Oooh he was a naughty little bunny though :)

Sas ~ you are a saint. Really.

Wenchie ~ You too. We truly do reap what we sow. Wonderful "returns" for kind folks and so delightful to enjoy the "harvest" for those who are horrible. Bless their hearts.

Ok Jazzy, so it was your feet. Memory has not quite left me yet. You can't find your lovely sandals? How many pair of shoes do you have? I thought you were a minimalist after seeing a photo of your Christmas Tree. Anyway, hope you will find it soon. I see that you get hit with the heat wave too.

JunieB, 10-12 weeks is a long time to be in pain. Hope relief comes to you sooner. How was the contact with your half-sis?

Ms. S, those feet/ankles don't look happy. Last time I had swollen ankles was 18 years ago after delivering my DD. Doc gave me too much IV fluid. Uncomfortable weird feeling. Felt like I was going to burst. Like your anklets; you are a hip great grandma.

Ms. Sas, that was hurtful how you were treated by your MIL. It takes great self-control and humility and to do what you did. What a way to honor DH!! ThumbsUp I am grateful my MIL was not mean. God rests her soul. Unfortunately, it took me awhile to understand and love her because of the generation gap/culture and my stubbornness. Wish I had more time with her :(

Lori, you are truly blessed to have a good relationship with your MIL.

Sensi, we can escape to the beach and forget all of our troubles.....maybe in our imagination. Hah!

ShepK, I have The Life of Pi and want to sit down and watch it with the family, but neither DDs want to see it b/c it's too sad (according to my DD2 who had seen it). I will just have to find time and watch it myself. Anyway, I just ordered the same dog food you give Marti in hope that it will help Mitzy with her skin problem. I also ordered Herbsmith Microflora digestive enzymes similar to Prozyme but also has probiotics. Chewy.com does not carry Prozyme. Hoping for a miracle. The poor girl has been loosing hair and scratching more than usual despite the cutting back on the bathing frequency and eliminating all processed treats. I took her to the vet this morning and left with a two week course of antibiotic Keflex and immune suppressant Apoquel for the itch. The visit cost me $250. I know the drugs will only temporary help fix the problem. It is rather frustrating that the underlying cause of her skin problems was not addressed. It seems like vets, like physicians, focus on treating symptoms rather than looking at ways to prevent diseases. Sorry for ranting. It has been an expensive month for us. Close to $6000 dollars medical bills for me, Mitzy, and my car( vehicles get sick too hah!). Oh my dear!! Didn't realize how long this post is. I talk too much!

lover, never! I'll watch the movie with you. Just say when. We can have pizza delivered.

Ankles are a little better. They're just not used to marathon sewing. I don't normally sew for 10-11 hours in one day. We are walking around the site, but I think it's all the sitting. I just finished my tuffet, it's stuffed with my pillow right now. I'll see how long it takes me to finish it. Think it the one and only that I'll make! All the fabric was scraps. I'm laying in bed with my feet up until dinner then I'm going to start a lap quilt and see how far I get with it.

This is my view from the sewing room.

Junie, Don't let PT over work you. Plus, the whole medicare 21 day in rehab thingy, another clinker. If you don't do rehab requirements they can discharge you b/c of non compliance. But see you worked really hard in the hospital and it caused a problem. Now you are working really hard again and it may cause a problem. Chit. Bleeping rules that forget we are human.

Shep, I see in Junie's post you fell. UGH hat falls They are simple unnerving....all the way down. Then the "Well, let's see what I hurt this time?" By now the question of NSAIDS and mets should be answered, can't wait to see what it was. Chit our research on the science forum last year said the opposite.

Wenchie, google Blonds raccoons. There was something that's special about them. Rarity. Forget. Love the pics.

Susieque, I did miss a page. Chit. Your OMIL what apiece of work "Her mother in law even asked me if I am happy cause Claire married a good family and she is there to replace me when I am gone....really!!". I'm head that way with Steve. Chit. I often see on Fb pics with his new in-laws. No invites in this direction.

The Dizzy's are back, posting this in case

Loverly, just read your post to Shep about crutches. They didn't teach you right. Correct teaching should have included to never put weight from the shoulder where pressure is placed on the armpit. UGH.

Shep what a cool response about Susan's MIL "See you next Thursday" and "bless her heart" Which I know is a great derogatory. HAhahahah. Then saw this "Mother" is a title and also a verb. You will always be Mother. Claire is a grown woman. No more mothering required. Tell her how you feel and then leave it at that. She is now both a Mother and one who mothers. You have set such a loving, positive supportive example of all the wonderful things the word Mother means. Now it's her turn to be the nurturer. Or not." Amazing.

Shep based on description yo were put into "fast Track" with a Nurse Practioner. She obviously thought mush of herself, and nothing for you. The keyword is in regard to consent. Sounds stupid, but if you use these words it will get a quicker response. "I deny consent for you to______? In this case touch. If they(anyone) goes beyond that it's battery. She figured it out, but not fast enough to cause you pain.

Sensi Hugs on the day back to work, chit. Every moment of a our lives are spent in being so OCD about what we do. I once gave two Tylenol to a kiddo that was of age and weight to receive 2, but the doc ordered one. Chit. Pondered on it for a couple of weeks. Seriously, I often wondered if I had chosen something different. Dear twin was a cop. She got to say what she wanted and thought. She never fired her weapon in her career. In Detroit no less. Somehow though our careers are harder than anyone outside can fathom. Hugs.

OH just now got back to where I had caught up before. Well, nice to know the nursing thoughts are consistent. Sheesh the memory is gone. but consistent.

Feline, We have puffins on the upper American coast. Not sure density. I know they are protected. WOW and triple WOW< WOW< WOW what a great excursion. Yes, way better than the MX excursion. On a ferry with the wind blowing, the smell of the salt air, the sky, the talk, the birds. Did they have food? Food would make it perfect. Hard crusted bread, cheese, wine, grapes, a blanket, the waves crashing........ oops off into a fantasy.

We have a wild life refuge here that surrounds the space center. Cruishanks is responsible for that. He was president of the Audobon Society. Bless him, he forsaw that NASA and the wildlife could coexist. Dear Greg and I went often. several times a week often.

The first time I took Donnie. I pointed out a Hooded Merganser(male). I asked what he thought? He said "It's a fucking duck". My thought was bird watching wasn't much in our future. What's sweet is, Donnie doesn't resist now when I ask and he doesn't call them fucking ducks. He asks if they have a name. That's love isn't it.

Wenchi, sorry you are missing the family reunion. Bummer. Where are you in have your mom eval'd. There are eval programs and programs that teach how to do things in the home to "fix" the negative behaviors and safety. Call the her insurance and check out "Memory Care Evaluation". Then ask for a Social Worker in home care eval for services. Might get you some help. Her husband or she was a veteran?

Holeinone, just saw Susan's post. Chit spreading chit. Like a damn fungus outside, except you can't cover it with Clorox. Chit. Sorry. We are on the cusp of change, but doesn't help us when we aren't on the right side of the change. Chit. Thanks for the opportunity to shed old thoughts with your memes. The thoughts are toxic, nice to get out.

Sensi, My twin was dx'd in 1996, we were 46. A little older than you. There were an aunt and two cousins dx'd about the same time. Twin was ER+. Not known about the others. BRAC neg for two cousins and us. She was recommended tamox, Ai's not in the pic then.

I said to my twin that we need to get the puppies out. We did. She had one node positive and went through chemo. She survives now. I didn't get BC till age 59. Total now in the family is 9:21 women. Some premenopausal, some post. Would my course have been different without the puppies out. Don't know.

But what I knew in 1996 is they didn't know, it was too early. I wasn't going to risk it. Out they came.

Nothing supports why I haven't met's. Onco DX 30, very aggressive grade3, family hx,, smoking & wining .diet as my own. Didn't complete neo-adjuvant chemo. Didn't complete AI's due to QOL. Loss of DH. Brain tumor with crainotomy, Thyroid cancer with RAI 131. Stress out the wazhoo for ....still continuing. I am a poster child for met's. So why didn't it happen?

Not that I would wish to met's, Why don't the docs question? I've talked the family stats 26:53 with cancer. No interest in testing for other genetics

That's why the latest thread on beta blockers. Is that a clue? Was Vitamin D deficiency a clue.

It pisses me off that BCO hasn't created a questionnaire. Thousands of women and a few men have come through here. Certainly something could have been gleaned.

    off the soap box

Shep dear one,If I were a Saint, I'd be dead.......my Mom Gertie' s a Saint. She was sooooooo many beautiful things. My dear Greg loved her so. It was such a wonderful thing to watch. She lived with us for 13 years. Then she went to live with sister Sue for about 9 years.

Greg was bemoaning losing Gertie. I asked him why? "I don't have anyone to watch sports with". Little questioning. They had made an early pact. If he watched hockey, baseball, and golf with her, she'd watch football with him. Cool.

Smaarty - Apparently blue is your favorite color? Tuffet looks really cool.

Plus, the view from the sewing room is gorgeous. I lived in So. Lake Tahoe in my 20's. Worked at Harrah's Casino. Feels like a different lifetime.

    Enerva - Cute little Owlie.

Shep - You are hilarious. Valium dipped strawberries? Lad you found your lavender oil.

Loverly - See, that's why I'm not getting a car again. The unexpected repairs, dental bills, then a vet bill. OUCH! I'd rather keep my money to take care of a dog. If I ever actually get one.

Also, you don't need to apologize for sharing. Even if you type 12 pages. It's just good to know you have us to hear you.

In regards to my half-sis, I only accepted her friend request so far, but will send a message once I get back home.

MO'S office called today. I am going home on July 5th, then treatment on the 6th. Geez!

Jazzygirl - Did you injure youself?

Here at the SNF I have a roommate that is in her 80's and is pretty quiet. Funny thing about her though is that she curses in her sleep. Nothing real bad, but it is funny to hear at night.

Sas - Is that you in the pic with the glasses & white kleenex? Are you trying to go incognito, or is the kleenex for something else?

The maternal side of my family also has a strong cancer history. Mother has had breast, kidney & lung. Her brother died of liver at age 62. Her father had brain. I'm the only one though who was dx'd in early 30's.

    Hello Lookie, Feline, Susan, Wren!

Wenchie - Sorry to hear that your Mom is dealing with dementia issues. Did you get your mowers back from the mower doc?

Is your surgery still scheduled for July 6th?

Groin pain has been better today. P.T. was easy on me today. Hopefully tomorrow will continue the trend.

Saw a recipe in newspaper today for an Italian type salad. Spring greens, Genoa salami, black olives, red onion, artichoke hearts & a vinaigrette dressing. Will try once I get home. Real tired of all this processed food here.

Guess that's all for now, will catch you all tomorrow.

    Nighty Nite Owlettes!
