I wrote this post this afternoon when we got home as an email. It's been a long day. Three hours at the hospital for the bone marrow biopsy. It hurt!!! Results in 3-5 days but I don't see hematologist till March 13th. I'm guessing if the news is not good, I'll hear before that. Just got back from endocrinologist. She is saying it is still hypercalciumia and hyperparathyroidism as PTH and calcium are elevated. She doesn't think they are related to cancer, but she will leave that to the hematologist. Hence the BMB. She wants labs again in a couple weeks and then will decide whether to go back on Calcium but she wants me on a low dose Vitamin D - 1000iu (was on 2000iu). She is ordering an ultrasound of my neck for the parathyroid. She also doesn't want me to change the Prolia yet, so will get my next shot as planned mid April. I'm just mentally and physically exhausted!!! On the way home from the endocrinologist, DH said for someone who looks healthy, you really have a lot going on!!! Praying that the BMB is normal and its not multiple myeloma. I feel like I'm back in February 2006, when I was diagnosed with BC and spent the month going to doctor after doctor. In between doctor appointments and procedures, I need to work!!

My son came over tonight to pick up the Hamentashen I baked for him as well as some other baked good from the freezer. DH and I decided it was time to tell the kids what was going on. I rambled on like a crazy lady - I was pretty confused after talking to him!!! I told DH that I need a script when I tell DDs or he has to do it. Can't tell DD#2 now as she is heading into her second round of finals. She is also the one that worries about me the most. I'd much rather do it in person, but won't see her till summer. Depending on the results of the bone marrow biopsy, there might be nothing urgent to tell at this time.

Was looking at work emails tonight and I have a mandatory training the first week in June or the last week in July. Neither are good times for me, but I think I'll opt for the second training, July 31 - August 4. Both interfere with my travel plans!

    Sweet dreams.

Gosh Karen, that is so much to process. Work is almost a welcome distraction. I'd keep things general when talking to the kids until you know what's actually going on. Sending more hugs your way.

We did land back in snow covered North Dakota. The 100 miles of interstate between where we landed and home had been shut down and just reopened with 'no travel advised' shortly before we landed. We decided to stay overnight where we were and will try to make it home today. I am off to find some coffee!!!

*edited to say that I did make it home in one piece; I've unpacked, gone through the mail & am trying to decide if I want to go to a class tonight or just crash.

Thanks everyone - not going to say anything to the girls till I get the test results and then I'm not sure what I'll tell if the biopsy results are good.

The ultrasound of my parathyroid is scheduled for Wednesday afternoon. They said it should take an hour. MY DH asked me how an ultrasound could take so long. Told him don't know. I hope to have the results before I see the hematologist on the 13th.

My foot is more sore and swollen again, so I guess it's back to the boot. It feels pretty much like it did just before I went to the Podiatrist. Podiatrist said if it got worse to put the boot back on and come see him. DH said skip the appointment. Happy to do so as I'm so worn out from appointments - 7 so far this year!!!

Ruth - glad that you made it home safe and sound.

    Sweet dreams

Yoga again today. It's snowing, but I hope it won't be too bad as I have a couple of appointments tomorrow that I really don't want to reschedule. What a long winter it's being!

Karen: Sorry your foot is hurting again. Glad you are wearing the boot again.

Happy Belated Birthday on Friday Ruth! You and my dd have the same birth date.

To celebrate dd's birthday, we attended a Billy Strings concert. Holy cow! He is AMAZING!

I walked on Friday but nothing on Saturday or Sunday. Been busy visiting with ds, dd, and sil.

We didn't get as much snow as predicted, but apparently it is supposed to snow starting tomorrow for the whole rest of the week. Argh!!

Happy Birthday to DD, Wonderland! I had a fun birthday too. The family took me to 'The Scared Scriptless Tour', which is put on by the 'Whose Line Is It Anyway?' people & follows the same format. Hilarious!

SInce it wasn't blizzarding, I was able to get to my appointments. Since I missed my morning class, I am going to Pound tonight.

Ruth: I used to watch that show. I bet it was crazy fun and lots of laughs.

Well, I mowed today for 50 minutes. First time this year. Dh mowed after I did. Still have the front yard to do. I hadn't eaten much before mowing and I ran out of steam at 50 minutes. Plus it's the first time this year (2 weeks earlier than last year). And I have my winter weight I need to lose. The upside was that the temperature today was 72 and not 92!

Mowed the front yard - 30 minutes. Then another 30 minutes pulling weeds. Also walked/ran.

I've been collecting stuff in the house that I don't need or use anymore. On Sunday I put it all out in front of the house. All of it was gone by Monday, including the cardboard I placed the items on. That's the kind of yard sale I like to have!

My town has a cleanup week in the spring. Everyone puts the stuff they don't want on the curb. People go around taking what they want & the garbage people haul away anything left (which is usually not very much).

I did a bunch more errands today (trying to beat the bad weather predicted for the rest of the week) & went to Zumba & Yoga tonight.

Wow, I like that idea of free pick up from the front yard as a community-wide event...the last time I took advantage of that was when I spent a short stint in DC in 2007...had a 4 month furnished rental, but occasionally found something that rounded out my needs nicely!

went to yoga yesterday...think my exercise today is getting my mom to the doctor...we have three steps at the front door and they get harder every month.

We are paying for our mild February with a last blast of March winter...at least 10 days of colder weather...somehow the flowering trees and daffodils didn't get the weather forecast as we are in full bloom, overnight lows are just kissing freezing, so hopefully we get past this.

Two days to spring break! TT

We had 4 inches of snow yesterday and are supposed to get more Thursday AND Saturday. Good Grief!

The Wednesday Walking Women met the the fitness center for a walk & then celebrated the 5 February/March birthdays that were postponed because of the crazy weather (the ladies in the boas are the Birthday Girls).

TT: We are having the same kind of weather. I know your mother is grateful for you.

Ruth: So much snow! Wish we had some of it.

Karen: Thinking of you and hope you are receiving favorable reports.

    Walked/ran early this afternoon.

Still waiting on bone marrow biopsy results. Called hematologist office this afternoon and no call back. Looked on patient portal at hospital and no final report. Hopefully tomorrow. The waiting is torture!!

Ultrasound of thyroid/parathyroid was this afternoon. Tech said I should have the results by Friday.

Yes, we are thinking of you, Karen & keeping out fingers crossed for good results. Waiting is the worst!!!

I went to Pound this morning and will do Dance2fit & Yoga tonight. I want to get as many classes in as possible since the weather may be shutting things down this weekend (I have been stocking up on groceries!).

Ruth: Good thing you have all that food for yet another storm. We will be having rain Friday and Sunday.

No exercise today for me. Dh and I were in charge of the Red Cross blood drive at church. We check people in and make sure they eat and drink after donating. Luckily nothing unusual happened today.

The hematology nurse called me yesterday and apologized for taking so long. Still no pathology results on the bone marrow biopsy. She said she would call me as soon as she saw them and if they weren't here today, she would call them. My appointment is Monday morning. So it might be another long week-end. I'm mentally and physically exhausted.

On a positive note, the endocrinologist office called with ultrasound results of my parathyroid - no adenomas on the parathyroid so they will continue to monitor my labs - I'm supposed to go for labs again next week and see her mid April.

Karen, I'm glad you got some results back anyway & they were good. Is our snow coming from you? We had 3-4 inches last night, have a break today & tonight it's supposed to start again. The rest of the weekend calls for heavy snow and wind. Blah! I haven't decided what to do for exercise today (besides shoveling!).

Thankfully, snow is not in our forecast. 10 day forecast looks good. Stay safe and stay warm.

Hematology nurse called about an hour ago - still waiting on more results from the bone marrow biopsy - she expects that they will have them for my Monday morning appointment. Not feeling very positive.

My brain is fried and don't want to focus on anything like reading. I generally check emails on Fridays and write my weekly update that my team does, but going to skip it this week.

Foot is still swollen on the bottom near the toes, but ever so slightly less swollen on the top, so will keep wearing the boot. Spring break is in 2 weeks - last week of March. I will wait till then to make an appointment with the Podiatrist if it is still swollen.

I got a sneak peek at the new boards and they look good. Hopefully they will be easier to navigare.

    Have a good week-end.

Karen, maybe watch some funny movies and/or some comedy series that will take your mind off things. If you get Netflex, the old Mary Tyler Moore shows are there.....when I was doing chemo, I got DVDs of all 7 seasons & they were a wonderful distraction, so when I saw they were back on Netflex, I've started watching them again & they are still great. Old Johnny Carson shows are good too, as are many of the British mystery series; Vera, Death in Paradise, Midsommer Murders, Endeavor, Father Brown are some we started watching during Covid & really enjoy.

I shoveled quite a bit & did a 30 minute Dance Mix with Denise Austin.

Thank you for the great photo Ruth!

We just went for a walk out, but we stuck to the muddy road rather than get the snowshoes out. It is absolutely gorgeous out, with bluebird sky and mid-40s. Possibly a big storm coming, but even if we get laess total snow the snow: water ratio is expected to be 1:6!

Karen: Thinking of you and holding you in my heart.

Going to do a wee bit of strength training now.

YesIAm: Sounds like a beautiful day (except for the mud part).

    Ruth: That picture!

I walked yesterday. We went to my favorite restaurant last night. I drank 2 glasses of wine and today I've had "wine belly." Feeling better now. Guess I can't handle alcohol like I used to be able to! It's been a rainy day - a good type of day to do nothing.

I do not like the time change - and this might be the last one. There is the possibility that we will stay on DST year round. Me personally would prefer standard time. Heard on the news yesterday that standard time is healthier for our bodies - but I don't need daylight till 9 at night in the summer. It always takes me an hour to adjust to the time change.

2.25 hours till check in for my appointment - I go between being numb and being panicked and scared out of my mind. I truly expect to be told that it is cancer again. Okay, if so, just tell me what the plan is going forward. Multiple myeloma is not good being a blood cancer of the plasma - but then no cancer is good, some just worse than others. I scheduled to go into work after my appointment - wonder if that is dumb - but I need to be busy and work has been so understanding. Plus being busy at work is a distraction. I guess I can change my mind if need be depending on the news and what we find out moving forward.

DD#2 texted that she go a 90 on her final yesterday!! She was elated. She has 3 more finals - Thursday, Sunday (her 25th birthday) and the last is the 24th. I think the new semester starts this week. The trip to Italy was her birthday present, but I think I'm going to order some sort of birthday treat to be delivered on her birthday. Also she wants a new swatch, so I'm going to tell her to order it. She is not expecting anything, but it will make me feel better to surprise her.

Not sleeping well - worse than normal. Waking up for a couple hours at night - I come out to the sofa and many nights stuff my face!!! Not really hungry, just nervous energy, frustration, boredom - I don't know what, but it has to stop.

I'll try to come back this evening to post an update
