ahhh this isn’t normal fatigue. Coffee didn’t help but I think I’ll pay closer attention to what my body is asking me to do. Need to pace myself better. Glad I have a few sleep in days. If it’s sunny out I’ll see if a walk helps tomorrow. :)

Was up online till after 4am last night so Bob & the kitties let me sleep in past 11am. Spent the day making guac and paella for Super Bowl. Gordy was working, Leslie was talking with her folks (her dad has bile duct cancer and is finishing up neoadjuvant chemo preparatory to a Whipple), and my BFFs were just too tired to come out—so it was just the two of us. For awhile KC was doing so badly (Mahomes kept getting sacked, Travis Kelce seemed slow & butterfingered, the O-line & D-line were almost inert) that it appeared they might have been trying to "take a dive," in boxing parlance. 34-0 at the half and at one point 40-6. The one thing on which I agreed with the WSJ was that Philly's O-line were gargantuan freaks of nature, averaging 6'6" and 338 lbs—unprecedented even for the NFL. They definitely had their QB's back.

Just before the pregame show I got a call from my cleaning lady—the agency (Homeaglow) had canceled her contract. (Whether it was because of her nationality—Ukrainian—or that the agency's facing a massive class action suit by cleaners it mistreated and misrepresented as independent contractors instead of underpaid employees I'm not gonna speculate). She formed her own company and is charging the same as we were charged by Homeaglow, only she and her assistant(s) get to keep all of it.

chrisandy. I love your kitties! Hahahha. Yes I would have far preferred watching the Super Bowl. Must plan better next year! Hahah. I love guacamole! Love your description of the game tooo. Made total sense. Our CFL is pretend football hahaha. Oh well. I still roar for the BC Lions though! I worked a grey cup one year. What great fun that was. Tomorrow I plan to sleep in. Haha. It’s Almost 11 pm here so I should look at getting ready for bed!

If you weren't an Eagles fan, it wasn't much of a game. We went to bed before it ended. We didn't mind the Eagles winning but like more of a contest. Can't say I appreciated the half time show. I'm not a rapper fan, not surprisingly. The whole event was good for New Orleans but now the news folks can talk about something else.

Fog was in the forecast but it's just overcast outside. I'll be driving dh to his PT appointment at 10 am.

Hope you can get rested up, Canarycat.

    Happy Monday.

Sun is out but muted a lot right now so I'm hoping. A nice sun always has the power to cheer me up and somehow I just feel healthier when there is a good glow going on in the sky.

As to Super Bowl. Dh had the game on but I'm not sure why as he usually doesn't watch. I'm not a football fan at all. I never like it much due I think to so many bad injuries. Anyway, I glanced, mainly for the scores, but didn't care to get into it anymore. I don't go overboard on any sport but have always found watching ANY on TV difficult. I do like hockey and baseball. Many here in Illinois (partly because we are so close to the city of St. Louis, Mo) go for the St. Louis Cardinals. Detroit Red Wings the other favorite.

Sandy, your kitties (pale torties) are gorgeous as well. For me, all cats are fabulously beautiful. I've never met one I couldn't find some love for and most I can go gushingly overboard for. We originally began our rescue work with cats only, but later on included dogs too. Of the 7 we have left, all were rescues with two of them coming from another rescuer who didn't really want more at her house. Neither did we, but there were a lot of coyotes and raccoons and other wild things at her house and Tiny was so little (great meal for someone) and Lucky had disabilities making it hard for him to escape capture by something. They have tuned out to be great additions for us and we are not un-happy in the least that we chose to take them.

Dilly and Dally (orange and white cats) fit in the palms of our hands when we got them. Last litter ( the cats usually have three a season here) of the year and they were quite undersized. Anyway, we've had them for going on four yrs. now. I called them "The Bruisers". They are now huge. Little did we know when we brought them home what we were in for size-wise.

I don't care for Rap either Carole. That and heavy metal never made it to my play list. Most other music I like and have Reggae to Pan Flute to Celtic to C&W, and Rock and Roll. Mainly depends on my mood at the time.

Sure good to hear your cleaning person is staying with you. Once you are used to someone and just as important - they are used to you and how you like things. It is hard nowadays to know what is going on in the work world. I hope it gets sorted soon.

Canary, I do think expending energy (a nice walk) does help to give us a bit more pep overall. I also think the dregs of winter weather and maybe too many dark days in a row tend to dampen us down some. The nice thing about all of it is THINGS always change. Hope for the better, but nothing stays the same for us. Spring is coming and I for one as so looking forward to it.

    Happy day to all.

Hi, ladies. I had a puppy bowl party, most of my guests don't drive at night, so it was an early party. Midnight Louie did not like the guests and must not be an Eagles fan.

The true Light is a gentle love which, rising in you, causes you to look on the world with understanding and compassion and respect. When you respect the souls of your brother and sister, you respect their lives in every way.  This gentle spirit, this respect one for another, must come. For this is the generation of the one true Light, and this true light is that of love.

I will be driving dh to an appointment today with a neurosurgeon to consult with him about dh's jaw pain he has been experiencing for two years. The pain doctor had recommended that dh see a neurosurgeon a year ago but getting an appointment with a neurologist is nearly impossible, let alone a neurosurgeon. The pain meds have helped with the pain but it's still there. Here's hoping. Crossed fingers.

Meanwhile dh is doing well in his third week of recovery from the TKR. He is walking around the house without the walker. I am hoping to get back to the gym this week since I should be able to leave him on his own for an hour and a half or two hours.

I had an email from Capital One this morning alerting me to a charge that had been refused. Neither dh nor I recognized the charge so the card is cancelled, and a new one will be issued. I appreciate how Capital One is on the lookout for fraudulent charges.

The temperature is mid 60's this morning and no fog.

    Happy Tuesday.

Petite, that is a gorgeous picture of Midnight Louie. I love the shadow he is creating as well. You're my kind of party person — doing it early with plenty of hours left to rest afterward.

Well, woke up to a little white on the ground. It's just dust pretty much, but I'm hoping that we don't get much more. We will keep the cold temps for ??who knows for sure but the week's extended forecast is showing the full week. Eek. It's gloomy looking w/o the sun — just the way I don't like it. It's the one thing I'm always eager to gripe about while most things barely move the needle.

Hope you are all going to have a good day.

petit Midnight Louis reminds me of the cat book mystery series featuring Midnight Louis. The books are written by Carole Nelson Douglas and are written from the cat’s perspective. I’ve read most of them.

Good morning. Oops, cloudy as all get out and doesn't sound like much of a day. We may get freezing rain, sleet — just some crummy stuff. Well, some days are like that and then as mentioned — anything seems to go around here in the month of February — like the 70-degree temps we had a few days ago, to yesterday's snow dusting and whatever comes today.

Hoping anyone else that may have to go out will be able to do so w/o any of this sort of thing — snow or sleet or anything that is treacherous. Sandy, definitely thinking of you in the northern part of the state. Saying hi to those not posting much.

It will be our usual day here — that almost always means something forgotten at the store (Walmart grocery) and check prices for current dog food at Buckheit's, as well as Walmart. Buckheit's actually took the old smaller Walmart bldg. so it is more or less across (sideways) of the new one with a small shopping mall in-between. Sort of amazing to me what went in that rather small space. Eight to ten stores with a Best Western (pretty pricy) at the far end. Sometimes though, I think too many restaurants though it is good for the Best Western.

Hope you all have a really good day, stay well and warm and happy vacation period to those gone right now. We await pics or nice reports of your travels.

I read everything but didn’t take notes.

Super Bowl party was fun. Lots of different foods we enjoyed. Halftime, I think it should have been closed captioned. I had no idea what he was saying. The next day news reports were going on about different political statements sprinkled throughout the performance - lost on me. We had a betting sheet with 50% going to my nieces travel soccer team. It’s a good thing the team profited, because between all of us we had 31 squares and no winners.

Guests got out on time Saturday. Their flight was slightly delayed from Baltimore to NY but all good - home to a snowstorm, one hour late. Next guests arrive on Friday and here we go again.

It’s been hot as heck here. I thought I’d go to the pool yesterday but felt kind of light headed so I avoided sitting in the sun. We went to an Americana concert sponsored by our library in the evening when it was cooler and we had a breeze off the river.

Tonight we’re off to a reunion (I think looking for donations or even estate mentions) for my partners private high school. It’s only 2 hours long, so bite to eat finger foods & a drink before we head back home.

Tomorrow is a ladies lunch with neighbors. Friday is a music & seafood festival before we head to the airport to pick up guests. I can pretty much guess I won’t be on here much, but might get a chance to read posts.

Have a great week ladies, and a super Valentine’s Day!

Busy morning starting early for me. I drove dh to his PT session. Worked on NYT puzzles while I waited. Next we went to a barber shop and were lucky that he was able to get a hair cut without waiting. After taking him home, I went to the gym and had a good workout in Autumn's Silver Sneakers class. Then home and lunch.

I'm altering some blouses that are too "blousey," taking tucks in the front. I bought them from Belk's, not a cheap store, and got an XLarge, expecting the blouses to shrink to a good size. They did shrink, getting shorter but did not shrink to make them fit more snug. Instead of getting out my little sewing machine I'm doing the sewing by hand. I like the blouses for everyday wear and think the result will be worth the labor.

Our weather forecast has the possibility of some bad weather tonight. Hoping we don't have tornados develop.

    Happy Wednesday to everyone.

Great news, Canarycat. Hope the anxiety goes down.

We went to a Super Bowl party with some of my golf buddies. She did snacks and dessert and guests were instructed to bring a pizza. Worked out pretty well. Ann talked about a vote for the best pizza. We left at the third quarter so don't know if that happened or not. Only one person made a pizza - the rest of us went to our favorite carry-out place.

Busy day tomorrow - golf event, a hair cut, and bridge in the evening. Of course, today I had nothing on the calendar.

Be careful all of you are in storm's way.

A Super Bowl party with pizzas sounds good to me. I play bridge on my computer and on my phone. It's good brain exercise. Is your dh your partner, Taco? It sounds as though you have a great group of golfing friends.

I have a lunch date today with three women friends I got to know through golf. Now only one plays regularly. It will be good to see them. The restaurant is only a five-to-ten-minute drive so that's convenient.

DH dozed a lot in his chair yesterday and had trouble going to sleep last night. He got up and went to the living room and back to his recliner. He's very considerate and tries not to interfere with my sleep.

Canarycat, I read the Midnight Louie books and that is how he got his name. LOL. He hasn't solved any crimes, yet.

It has been very warm for Feb. - going to 84 today. I have my grief support group meeting and yoga today. There is a Valentine's Day luncheon on Friday with the social group, but I am not going. I have plans for lunch and dinner with my old friends. I have decided I don't want to date. Somehow it just repulses me. My two dates are enough for me. I don't want to "make out" like a 16 year old. My friends that do date, say they do act like that. I don't want to go there. If I can't have a platonic relationship, I will do without and will be just fine.

We should take it for granted that no life can be entirely free from vexations, trials, troubles, sorrows, and disappointments; but we should resolve that these things shall not be allowed to disturb our peace of mind, or to destroy our happiness.  It is as amazing as it is sad, that we go about largely burdening ourselves with strivings that are of no consequence and miss the gladness and exhilaration of living.  No life is successful until it is radiant with happiness.

Guess I found todays' quote almost just for you Petite. Being the REAL you and not doing things (like dating) that ring a sour note and then feeling good because you made the right choice about what resonates for you releases any negativity. Perfect.

Waiting and hoping for some sun. There is a very muted, minute amt. right now. Hope it increases and stays. I'm so ready for it. We had two or three gray days in a row and even one has the power to dampen my spirts. The sun just clears all my doldrums away.

Nothing special planned again so will take it all as it presents itself. I do have some must do's but I always have a couple.

How nice your Dh takes pains not to bother your sleep, Carole. My kind of guy. Sort of like home here although we took separate bedrooms when we moved to this house, just as we did at the other two we had. The small mobile we had in California only had one and a half (add on rm, used as spare bedroom) bedrms. so moving here changed all that.

Hope you all have a fantastic day.

It was sunny all day yesterday, but cold. Today will be the same. Sounds like snow and cold on the weekend. We are definitely back in our winterish weather patterns. This could though a bit later turn around again. It's what Februarys oftentimes are here.

Got up this morning and not hearing well. Decided to see why the left battery seems to register dead. Turn out the plastic lining wire broke in half — and was caught inside my ear. So no contact at all with the battery. Had son-in-law get a flashlight and tweezers and fish the line and cone out of my ear so I could take everything apart and put on new lines. Dh likely could have done it, but my son-in-law is good too. Only had this happen one other time. Good that I'm back to hearing w/o strain.

Hope you all have a great Valentine's Day today.

Wow on the hearing aid issue, Jackie. Glad the problem is resolved and you can hear.

We're back to winter for a day or two and then we'll be zooming back to summer. Easy to get dizzy with the weather changes.

DH's PT at 9 am this morning. I hope to get myself to the gym afterwards. Depends on how "myself" cooperates.

State of government with the new administration is not making me hopeful. Wondering if we will see generations of children suffering unnecessarily from childhood diseases. Our Louisiana Health Department will no longer publicly advocate vaccines (flu, Covid, whatever) to the public. The head of the department, a physician, has decided that it is not the role of government to recommend vaccines. Won't affect dh and me since we have PCPs.
