Nancy, Praying that you are getting the rest that you need! Thank you for the lovely banner you posted!
My BIL is doing well, his youngest son flew home today and his youngest brother is coming for a few days. After that he believes he should be able to drive himself anywhere he needs to go. My sister is a little discontent with the situation, not being able to be with him and him not to come over to memory care because of various virus bugs. She also is upset because her best friend in memory care has, it sound like, taken to a new lady that has moved in and is spending all her time with her. I'm doing pretty well with a few issues yet with sinus trouble. I did have a CAT scan and one frontal sinus was completely cloudy, and like all of us I was trying to figure the "report" out before I see the doctor in March. My nurse friend is doing some what better, and seems to be sleeping a little better after a few "natural" suggestions from the urologist. He didn't recommend any new meds to try.
Chris, I'm glad you are feeling a little better and so happy to hear about your granddaughter's award. Praying that you feel well and able to travel to Denver to see her in the award ceremony. So thankful your PT is helping you feel better too.
Teka, I love Winnie the Pooh too! Glad you had a little taste of spring too. Hershey, we are praying for you too.
Love and prayer,
Wheatfields

Chris, I pray that you receive the most encouraging news on Thursday. I'm so happy that the physical therapist is helping you regain your energy.
Wheatfields, I'm thankful that your brother-in-law has the support of his sons during his recovery from surgery. It sounds like he is making great progress. I hope your sinus issue is not causing you pain and that your MO appointment goes well in March.
Teka, Winnie the Pooh has been a favorite in my family for many decades!
Nancy, I received an email yesterday from SSA ("Social Security Announces Expedited Retroactive Payments and Higher Monthly Benefits for Millions – Actions Support the Social Security Fairness Act"). Have you received an email or update yet regarding your benefits? The day after submitting my SSA application, the retroactive payment was deposited in our checking account! Wow, that was fast! My monthly payment will begin once my husband's application has been processed (he retires at the end of this month). I'm just so thankful that the Social Security Fairness Act finally passed. The repeal of WEP and GPO has been a long time coming.
With love and prayers,
HersheyKiss

I saw my MO this afternoon. Not all of the data is back on the biopsy yet but what has come back shows I still have the same cancer profile as originally diagnosed, so no change in hormone status. She wants to wait for the molecular profile to come back before she makes any changes. So I am staying on the same meds for another month hoping it keeps the progression at a slow growth. My tumor markers continue to rise so we will need a change. We will reevaluate once we have more data and I get the results from the brain MRI at the end of the month.
Thanks for your prayers.

Chris, I wish you could have recevied more definitive news. I pray for peace in the wait time. I know that is not easy. My Bible Study is doing another Beth Moore series called Stepping Up. We are studying the Psalms of Ascent which is Ps. 120-134 which were the songs that were sung on their pilgramage to Jerusalem. This week we are studying Ps. 130. She likes to use the Holman Christian Standard Bible. At any rate you might read this one. It is one of hope and expectation of God hearing their sufferings. My continued prayers for you.
Wheatfields, I am glad to hear that your BIL is doing well and that another brother is coming to visit soon. I'm sorry to hear about your sister. I am sure she misses seeing her DH. I do hope that her best friend will come around. Your heart aches for them as they go through the relationship struggles without the ability to cope as an adult wihtout dementia. I am sorry to hear about your continued struggles with sinus issues. I had sinus surgery many years ago when every single one of my sinuses were completely blocked. It turned out to be what I am guessing was MERSA even though my doctor didn't put a name to it. I won't go into the whole saga but it turned out a simple sulpha drug turned the whole situation around after I had been on antibiotics for a good part of a year. I had been dealing with this for a year and finally getting some answers and solutions. My surgeon did have to consult an infectious disease doctor as mine was unusual to find this infection in my sinuses. I sure hope you can find something soon that will help you.
Hershey, congratulations on getting some fast action on the SS issue. That is awesome. I am going to send you a PM as the whole forum doesn't need to hear about this.
I saw Wicked again today. I needed a break from the political happenings in our country. There were only three of us in the theater as it is probably on it's way out depending on how well it does at the Oscars coming up.
Have a good night everyone.
Love,
Nancy

Teka, actually I have now seen Wicked 4x, 2 at home and 2 at the theater. When I bought my ticket at the theater no one had preordered so she said you can sit anyplace you want. I picked the top row and those seats don't go back. So I got ( in my mind) the best seat in the house and only two other people came in. Wicked is up for many Oscars. I don't think the lead will win even though I really want her to. Ariana Grande may win for Glinda. They were both so amazing.
You were a great Mom running from one movie to another!!!!! 😍
Have a great weekend. Unfortunately these days I am seeing the sun through my patio doors as I do my Bible study homework. I have been walking alot but all indoors so far. Yes, I do need to get out. Yesterday the temp was very warm but the high wind made it cold.
Love,
Nancy

Teka, my favorite musical growing up was The Sound of Music which I am sure I have seen so many times I lost count. I have never seen Mama Mia. I LOVE your banner.
Have a nice weekend.

@teka Just received a call from my MO office for an appointment on Thursday so the wait will not be long.
@bandwoman1234 Nancy, I love musicals. I have yet to see the movie version of Wicked but I am looking into finding it. I try to see a show every time I visit my son in NY but that may not happen for me again. Sigh…
We got a fast blast blizzard overnight but besides high winds it did not snow much. I am ready for Spring!

Chris, I am so glad you are getting to see your MO this Thursday. I pray for the best possible solution for you. I know you have been through more than we all know and have always handled yourself with such grace. You are amazing and contribute more to others than you may realize.
We are getting nonstop rain now. I won't have to fill my birdbath now. The temps are gradually getting higher and with the time change this weekend that is always such a great precursor to spring. I hope the longer days of light lifts your spirits.
I am considering buying the Wicked DVD. I have watched many press junkets with Cynthia Arivo who is the lead. I am so impressed with her. I watched a whole long segment yesterday of her speaking with the director, Jon Chu, and both of them were so impressive on how they think and create. I find that fascinating. She and Ariana Grande the other main character have developed a very close relationship and it is fun to see them together on the press tours. I am sure these press junkets get very old for them but they seem so joyful and real.
I am praying for you in this time of waiting,
Love,
Nancy

Dear sisters,
I found out that Carol our beloved sister on this forum passed away two weeks ago.
This is Carol and her husband Marty.
Carol was 66 yrs old and died at the end of Feb. 2025
She will be greatly missed. Her outlook on life matched her user name of Sunshine. We know she is no longer suffering and is in the arms of Jesus now.
Love,
Nancy

Nancy, thank you for posting this update and photo of Carol and Marty. She will be so missed. Continued prayers for Marty, their family, and many friends.

Nancy, thank you for posting this. My heart goes out to Marty and the rest of her family and friends. She will be greatly missed. Heaven has gained a lovely angel.

As we experience a death of a family member or friend or cyber friend I think our own mortality comes into focus. Today my Dad would have been 100 yrs old. He died of cancer when he was 80 so it feels like a lifetime ago.
Let's remember to keep Marty and their family in our prayers as we mourn the loss of Carol.
Chris, how are you doing? How did your MO apt go last week?
Wheatfields, how is your sinus issues? Have you met with your doctor yet?
Take care dear sisters. We are in a warm spell and it feels like spring is in the air. New life is always an amazing and refreshing gift after a long winter.
Love,
Nancy

Nancy, my dad would have been 100 years old on March 28th. He lived to be 88. Yes, I have been thinking of Carol and Marty and praying Marty will be comforted at this time.
My appointment actually went pretty well. My biopsy showed I have the ESRI mutation which is good for me as there is a new oral chemo that was developed specially for this mutation. I start it tomorrow so we will see how it goes. It means I can avoid IV chemo for now. I was able to handle a short trip on Sunday to attend my granddaughter's award ceremony in Denver. We then stopped on the way home to visit some old friends. I had to recouperate on Monday but it wasn't bad. My DH has come down with another cold so we are hoping I can avoid it this time.
I have also been thinking of KBL. Does anyone know how she is?
Praying for God's grace as we all travel through this disease.
Love, Chris

Chris, I am really praying that your new oral chemo will work for you and you will be able to have manageable side effects. I am so glad you will not have to have IV chemo. I am so glad you got to go to Denver to celebrate your granddaughters awards ceremony. I bet she was really excited and I am sure she had a very proud family supporting her as well. I hope your DH recovers quickly and that you will not catch anything from him.
Teka, that sounds like yesterday here. I changed out all the patio lights that had gone out in the very cold winter. It was nice to drive last night and see all five lights on instead of only one! That is just on the outside of the patio. I have five more lights on the inside and I only need to replace one of them. Isn't it nice to get out and do something in the yard after all of these months.
Our Bible study ran way over tonight and I still need to go to the store to get something so I need to sign off.
Have a good night everyone.
Love,
Nancy0 -
I am really sorry to hear about Carol, but we do know she is so happy now in Heaven. I'll be praying for Marty and the rest of her family. Was her Dad still living - I remember they would go to visit him now and then.
Chris, so thankful there is an oral treatment available instead of the IV. And we will be praying for no side effects and yet it will be effective. Also, so happy that you were able to go to Denver for the special awards ceremony for your granddaughter.
My nurse friend is doing a little better but still has nights where the bladder keeps her up and down a lot and then doesn't get the rest she needs. My sister is still insisting that she go back to their apartment. My BIL is recovering well from his surgery and going to PT now. I go back to the ENT about my sinus's the 26th of March. But am feeling better now. Although I do use the rinse daily.
Praying for all of you, Teka and Hershey as well!
Has anyone heard from GB?
Love, Wheatfields

Wheatfields, I am glad your sinus issues are better. I am glad to hear you are rinsing everyday. I haven't had a sinus infection since doing this routine now for quite a few years. Prior to that I was getting them a lot.
You asked about if Carol's Dad was living. I can reach out to this friend of hers that is the one that told me about her passing. I accidentally (not a coincidence) found her name in my sent file because I totally forgot her name. I was actually looking for something else and when her name came up that is when I reached out to her. I am still a little uncertain why she emailed me in the first place. It had something to do with Carol's blog.
I have not heard anything from GB. I don't have any personal info on to reach out to her. I hope she is doing well.
I have to get up a few times in the night as well. I totally understand what your friend is dealing with. Last week I had a horrendous week of insomnia and I am so grateful this week is much better. I am dealing with the bladder issues as well. I did the whole PT session of pelvic floor therapy and it did wonders. Then when I had my hemorrhoidectomy it totally undid all the progress I had made because the muscles I could not feel at all to do the exercises. I am slowly clawing my way back.
I am glad to hear your BIL is recovering and in PT already. I am really sorry to hear that your sister is still wanting to go home. I don't know if this is even possible at this point but when my Mom had to go into assisted living she had her own apartment. My sister took all the things off the wall at her house that she would see all the time and put those same things up in her assisted living apt. I don't know if it made her feel more like home but she did adjust to my surprise. Just a thought.
Chris, how is your new drug working? I know you have only been on it for a couple of days. I am praying it will be a miracle for you in that it will work and you will not have so many side effects as you have had in the past.
Everone have a wonderful weekend.
Love,
Nancy

Teka, so how was your corned beef. Your daughters? I have to confess that I have never eaten that before. You know I am not a seafood fan either so I guess this makes me ???????? I might like this more than………..oysters. 🙄
For all who receive social security I have seen several podcasts on YouTube that say our April payments will be delayed. Yep, thanks to DOGE.
Chris, how are you feeling on your new meds? I have been praying that they will work for you and be more manageable than some of your previous ones.
Take care everyone.
Love,
Nancy

@teka Your DDs corned beef looks good. I am with Nancy in that I don't eat it either but it looks great.
Nancy, my experience with my new med so far is mixed. The med itself is okay so far, but Monday night the pill got lodged in my throat (sphincter?) and it took almost 24 hours for it to finally drop. It was excruciating and I tried everything except for going to the ER (I am stubborn that way.) I didn't take it last night as I figured there would be too much med in my system if it just then dissolved. We shall see tonight. I plan on trying it with applesauce. Unfortunately I am not supposed to crush or cut it. I have never had problems taking large pills before. If it continues I will inform my onc to see if she has any suggestions. I am sure it is not good for a chemo drug to sit in the throat! If it happens again I may have to go in…
We had snow squalls blow through last night and the roads were nasty. My DD made it home from the hospital but she said there were at least 12 cars she counted in the ditches. She stayed late as one of the nurses had trouble getting there. She has a jeep and fortunately drove there and back before and after the storm.
This is supposed to be a quiet-stay-at-home week for me. Praying that is so.
Blessings! Chris

Oh Chris, that sound horrendous. I have mentioned this in the past as I have had chronic swallowing issues after my neck surgery in 2001. I tilt my head to the side and that seems to help with pills. I have experienced several pills not going down as I take several pills at a time. Usually by the time I have breakfast it is then okay but I know how awful that feels!
My Mom at her assisted living facility was having some issues with her meds not going down and they regularly brought her a little cup of applesauce so maybe that would work for you too. I would give my Mom a bite of a protein bar if this happened when I was with her. Hopefully you can take something with it so that doesn't happen again. I am glad your daughter made it home safely. We had snow and rain and hail today and I have yet to get my garbage to the curb because I fell asleep tonight before finishing up in the kitchen so I better sign off. I will definitely be praying that tonight things will go much more smoothly with your chemo pill.
Love,
Nancy

Teka, I would have loved some of that corn beef dinner, it looks delicious! Chris, I'm praying that the swallowing issues do disappear with a little applesauce and no side effects except for you to feel better again!
My sister followed a maintenance man out of the back door to memory care the other day and he assumed she was a volunteer. She made her way over to the independent apartment building and asked for my BIL. They came from memory care and walked her back. She said to me on the phone that night, I did something today that I probably shouldn't have but I just see no reason I can't be at the apartment. They have a meeting with the doctor today and so I wonder if they are going to decide on more "meds". I'm praying she is still able to walk with the ladies from independent like she does on Wednesday and Sunday evenings. Nancy, thank you for your insight. We did put some paintings on the wall of hers from home, but otherwise it's a little one room with a bathroom and hard to make it look like home.
Praying for each of you!
Love, Wheatfields

I took my pill with applesauce and it went down easy, so that's that.
@wheatfields We want them to be complaint just like our kids. I am glad your DS is safe. My sweet MIL struggled in memory care for a while too, but eventually her memory got worse and she settled down. It is so hard.

Chris, I am so glad to hear your pill with applesauce went down. PTL
Wheatfields, oh my. She obviously knew she had done something wrong. I'm sure glad someone caught this right away and got her safely home. If this is any consolation one of my best dearest friends is still alive at 96. She has dementia but is still living in her home. She became a widow at a young age and her daughter and family moved in with her and she moved to her basement and made an apt out of it so she has lived many years with her daughter and SIL. She was very depressed when she couldn't drive due to her dementia. She had a rough period of time and she too started wandering. When I visited her a few weeks ago I was pleased to hear that she is now in a more content phase and the wandering has stopped. They had to install cameras to watch her. I hope that your sister will enter a phase of contentment where she is. I know you are so concerned for her. I pray for peace for you and for contentment for your sister.
Teka, I am glad you had a nice week of corned beef. This has no connection what so ever other than the word corn but I saw a picture of a squirrel under this car and it had a long ear of corn in it's mouth. They called it squirrel on the cob. LOL I hope what I heard about SS is not going to happen too!!!!!
Have a nice weekend everyone. Happy first day of spring. I took this picture a few years ago and it reminds me of warmer months ahead.
Love,
Nancy

Teka, your St. Patrick's meal looks delicious. I'm not a fan of leftovers but will make an exception for corned beef, potatoes, and carrots (I'll pass on the cabbage 😉).
Nancy, I do hope the YouTube videos are incorrect about delayed Social Security payments. So very many folks count on receiving their checks and automatic deposits each month.
Chris, thankful the applesauce did the trick. My mom had trouble swallowing pills and took hers with applesauce or chocolate pudding. Either one worked well for her.
Wheatfields, how scary to learn that your sister was able to leave memory care through a back door. Praise Jesus that she is safe and at home again.
Wishing everyone a lovely rest of the week and weekend.

Hershey, there was a lot of drama over the last 24 hrs on Social Security. A judge ordered Musk and his DOGE team to halt there fishing into the private data of the recipients of SS. Last night all the news was the Social Security would be shut down because the acting head wasn't going to allow his own workers to have access to do their normal jobs. Now today it has been reversed as the judge made it clear that the normal SS workers could go ahead and do their jobs. What drama! So hopefully we will get our checks as planned.
Teka, as I am seeing my daffodils coming up and the trees budding it is always like a miracle from snow all on the ground to trees with all their leaves. It happens so slowly it is like a miracle when it all springs forth.
Love,
Nancy

Chris, I have been praying for you that your new drug will be a miracle for you. Praying for your MRI as well.
Teka, thank you for lurking!
I have been sick most of the week. I can't seem to get rid of it. All head and throat stuff.
Have a great weekend everyone.
Love,
Nancy

Nancy, I am so sorry you are sick. My DH finally got over his although it took him awhile. Thank you for your prayers. My side effects so far seem manageable, but they come with extra fatigue and body aches. I am frantically tidying up the house with last minute company coming over. I have to do it in 10 minute intervals. I know they understand but it is my nature to have a clean house. Well, only the main part will look clean. I just don't have the energy anymore.
