Thanks all for thinking about me. I got my glasses on Monday, and I am still trying to get used to them. I feel like I am looking through a fishbowl with them. I put them on when I get up and wear them till bedtime thinking my brain will eventually adjust. I am pretty disappointed with the cataract surgery. I was out yesterday, and it was a sunny day. The glare was pretty intense; I had to squint. I don't have sunglasses, as I never wore them before.
Reading along and saying HI to all.

Thank you everyone, I am sure that future chickens will be better. Since I messed up the bones and burnt them due to not enough water, I may try again. The meat was tasty while processing the meat though.
Laundry on the go, walking at some point I think, will put some of the cooling gear on and cover arms, my wide brim baseball hat looking thing is what covers face and head and picked white so as not to absorb heat. I may try walking up to pick up a prescription. I will see how all goes.
So far as the kale, need to chop it up into other stuff. I did not enjoy it as a salad, Taste was part of the issue but the size of it was overwhelming. Will chop the kale and chicken up. Maybe hide kale and chicken in eggs, heat in microwave, after cooled from that, toss them in with cheese and something else in the chopper. Once everything is chopped throw all in the frypan, rub butter on it, add garlic, basically let heat for a minute, turn off burner and cover. I will see, I also want to make up some sort of mexican rice with white rice. I have cumin, taco seasoning,, picked up garlic salt and could make creamy with sour cream, plan to store it in the fridge and add as a side dish. I will see later on.
Budget boosting with my computer playing the ads for cash. Saving up for more beans on Amazon, they make me buy four for ten dollars so will save as much as I can. I still like almost free stuff. My Walmart shop the other night was 44 dollars but I earned 36 dollars for paying rent on my card. Only need pay the 8 dollar difference which is good for me. Groceries this months have been 18.00 at costco for kale, chicken and cooking spray and the 8.00 for the walmart stuff I bought. Also did not buy the cheap frozen pasta either. If I change my mind, can always take the bus to the mall to get a couple of them, I have not tried putting them in the pan. Heat first in microwave, keep in fridge and add to other stuff, put in containers and use them for a pan heat. I will see, that could be the walking for me. Also give me a chance to ride for free and get over fear of falling off the bus when I step off. I will see what I decide to do. If I have the option of the bus, why not take it. The walk to the bus stop is not super long. I will decide later.
Edited, decided to make a grocery order for the frozen pasta because I also need a prescription delivered as well. I also got a couple of the hamburger helper packages, the stroganoff and beef taco look good, could add beef or chicken after preparing the noodles, sour cream. I also wanted a pizza as well so delivery it will be. I am liking the idea of the stroganoff noodles and seasoning together and using it with other meat, I will see.
Enough yapping, I hope all are having a good day, in pockets for those who need me.

Chicagoan, thanks for the idea of freezing the bones to use later, heck could probably keep some bones in the freezer and take out as needed as I do not have large pots but big enough to do a few bones without running out of water.
2 -
I did accidentally put a lot of kale in the bowl with eggs and chicken, will take a lot of chopping to shrink them up and may wind up with leftovers, still planning to add cheese when it cools off in the chop, add stuff as needed.
Edited, I was able to finish it up and it was pretty good. I did wind up finishing it. I also used bran cereal as croutons, used some ranch, sour cream and queso, seasoned with salt and sour cream and onion. It was pretty good.
2 -
Mara-I don't freeze the bones. I cook them all at once. If I need to freeze anything, it is the meat I have taken off of the bones but usually I eat it all in time.

Happy Mother's Day, Mel! Wishing you all the best.
Happy Mother's Day to all mothers here also. What a wonderful group!

Happy Mother's day to all.
Went to bed stupid late yesterday, round 4 am but slept well so just woke up. Nothing on my schedule today or next week either. Will be a simple day of vacuuming, bit of laundry and perhaps bigger blanket washes, I want to try out my bucket under the Panda spinner to catch the water from a large spin. The internal lint filter in one of my machines keeps trying to get loose so will attempt another sew, just thread or it won''t fit and possibly sew another piece of mesh over top. I will see. Still have the floating lint filters in there as well.
As far as food goes, I am thinking about pizza garlic sticks, may cook one up and have on the side or something else too. Option two is a mini pot pie within a couple of eggs and microwave the lot. Not too sure. Still eating the kale but need to chop smaller, maybe a few pulses in the coffee/spice grinder. It is a very large packaged. I do not think I honestly enjoy greens whether salad or kale concoctions, easy enough to hide the food in smaller size and season. I also have peppers in freezer along with potatoes in the freezer too. Need to use those up. I could see hiding the food
I was looking for chipotle mayo from a squeeze bottle but could not find any but found taco bell chipotle from a squeeze bottle, I have earned enough it will not really impact my bottom line so will order that, see what I think of it.
OMG, after finding the chipotle from Taco Bell on Amazon, I found all sorts of dinner kits like the crunchwrap supreme kit which I presume covers the tortilla and crunchy taco and cheese and I can put whatever I want. Yo quiero Taco Bell. Still saving my budget boosting funds toward that but could be good with my own ingredients, beans subbing in with beef, but using their meat seasoning. Fries supreme at home or just veggies supreme with the beef seasoning and sour cream. Ordered the chipotle, will arrive tomorrow, was 2 dollars out of pocket for me but may order some of the crunchwrap kits OR the crunchy tortilla, still plan to save money for all of that though.
Lunch was some chopped chicken meat and kale, both chopped up in the chopper, added 1/3 pkg of premade penne pollo in alfredo. Did put pan on high, melted some of the chicken fat in my container and sprayed, stirred the penne pollo, chicken and kale. Heated for a minute or two and turned off burner, let the lid stay on. I added a lot of sour cream and onion seasoning, bit of salt and mayo for binding. It was enjoyable. Looking forward to the chipotle tomorrow.
I want to take a walk at some point today, we are very warm so I would utilize my cap with the large brim, I am using my headband, you wet it and wear it under stuff, it does last a long time and the neck fan, plan to have the fan point down toward my body, if there is a breeze, would negate any fan benefit from pointing at the face. I will see what I wish to do. SIL has said I should walk without the cane as she thinks I lean on the cane. I disagree with her on that so will continue with the cane when outdoors. I will say when I need to pick stuff up at the door or go out, I find it easier to go down the stairs but resume use outside. If the cane assists in getting me out, will use it. In the house, just indoor marching on the spot or around the house with tiny steps, no cane used.
Otherwise, nothing much happening for me yet, start laundry, quick vacuum and figure out money making games and walking, inside or out, goal is 6000 steps, again does not matter how I get them. I do hope everyone has a great day, in pockets for all who need me, including myself to fit in the indoor and outdoor walks, I will see how it comes together for me anyway.

Hope everyone had a wonderful mother's day! Was an absolutely beautiful weather weekend.

Cookie, same for everybody celebrating. Was my Dad's birthday today, he would have been 85, colon cancer got him, 35 years ago almost. Will have nice meals to celebrate him anyway.
Got some laundry going, need to wash some clothes after the regular cloths. Was woken up by the prescription delivery at 11 am but at least had taken off the do not disturb and turned on sound. Went out without cane or shoes, easier to tackle stairs without a cane. Perhaps just fold it under my arm as I head out for anything. 10 mins later got the chipotle sauce from Taco Bell on Amazon.
First meal will likely be the rest of the pizza, it was essentially garlic bread with some cheese, did not taste bad but not enough flavour, can add my own cheese, garlic and chopped up kale, reheat in oven to melt cheese and more garlic as well. I will add some of the pasta I made yesterdayLater would like something with eggs I think. I also have pasta from yesterday that I made in the frypan with kale and chicken and cheese. The kale is easier to handle when chopped up. Later, I am planning to pull out black forest ham from the freezer, will use once it defrosts in the fridge. Going to try some of the chipotle.
Edited to add that took the pizza, added a generous amount of garlic spread, some cheese and dumped left over pasta, put in the oven at 375 sp nothing burned. I took the chipotle, squirted a bit into a small bowl. It was a bit spicy, went ahead and mixed in some sour cream, took some of the spicy flavour out and left a nice tang. I put that on top of the reheated pizza, much more flavourful and the chipotle and sour cream mix was delicious.

Good midnight to all. I spent time catching up on the reading. Mara have you ever thought of writing a cooking book for easy to make meals.? I know a lot of Moms would appreciate some new ideas for the kids and I bet your audience would include college students too. Hi Cookie, Shanagirl, Threetree, Mkestrel, Chicagoan, Candy, who'd I miss??? My brain, she are no longer any good. lol
Pet scan finally scheduled June 26. Unfortunately haven't heard back from the referral to the neuo surgeon. The compression fracture is all the way down to the last spinal disc and it spreads burning pain over buttocks and down my legs.
Did some painting in the bathroom and DH had to bail me out. Too short to reach very high and no stools or ladders for me. I'm fighting IBS tonight. Lots of stomach contents leaving my body in multiple different ways. Three doses of zofran and some ginger ale and I'm holding my own. It doesn't help taking all those meds and I do take them with food, even though Ibrance says you don't have to.
Gals that bone broth sounds mighty good right about now. I hope you all have the joys of walking the beach, smelling the lilacs, seeing better each day, figuring out why one feels "off" (boy do I understand that) and great scans. In pockets for all your needs.
6 -
Kudos to you Irishlove for painting your bathroom! I have a lot of rooms that need painting-I did one last year but can't seem to get going on any of them this year. That compression fracture sounds really painful-hope you can get some relief.
6 -
Irish, amazing to finish your bathroom but I am so sorry you are dealing with the IBS have contents leaving in all the forms, in your pocket hoping you are feeling better. You are more stoic than I would be I tell you.
Late sleep today, did not go to bed late so unsure why. We are very warm, even have a bit of humidity on the go. Any outdoor walk would require me to avoid rain OR take an UV umbrella for any spot of rain, I will see.
I am also doing an experiment for fun, I have my original dryer that stopped giving heat because the one cord failed and the dryer filled up with fur. Using mostly as a night table but it still tumbles, seeing if tumbling with no heat could work. I am lately just taking stuff out of the spinners like the cloths used all the time and sticking them in my basket in the bathroom. Not too sure why but do not see a problem but the towels were very stiff. I will run them in heat if need be. I still have a rack heater that has a motor blowing heat at bottom into a tent
Opening a can of the chipotle beans. Strain the can of beans to get the bean juice out and put in other container. It helps stretch the chipotle and give other options for the beans themselves. I may also keep other bean juices to add seasoning to as well, just give an interesting taste or use mayo or sour cream to get the flavours I am looking for.
First meal of the day will include some beans, chipotle and possible chopped green beans. Use some of the KD meal. Heat the noodles first, maybe 1/4 cup of them. Once heated, take the chipotle and chopped green beans, at least 1/4 cup of each, chop a handful of kale as well, put everything in a sprayed frypan, add some butter and garlic, put on high heat, once hot dump the KD noodles, beans and some queso and sour cream, turn heat off and put a mixture of sour cream and the bean chipotle, a squeeze of the taco bell stuff. Sounds good to me right now.
Edited, had to activate a new card and was directed to do it over the phone. It was a new account so new account details were needed and holy cow it was frustrating, person on phone was going faster than I could so asked her to bear with me, finally got it done. Bought lunch to make sure the debit card was activating. Did my silent shouting at the person and thanked her for the help. Mcdonalds is coming for me. I will have the other meal later. Thank god I know how to scream and shout but with a silent voice since the person on the phone was just trying to help and as a former call centre agent, I understand call handling time and the anxiety that comes with that.
Will have the beans and KD for supper.
I hope everyone has a good day and I am in pockets of all who need me.

@irishlove Kudos to you for having the will to paint with everything else going on. I would imagine you did enjoy the distraction. Sorry you're dealing with GI issues again plus the burning pain from your spine.I'm pulling out my magic wand and waving it over you right now! Enough is enough you need to catch a break. Continued prayers for relief for you ASAP. Hugs❣️
@mara51506 Oh those phone calls they can drive you to drink lol. Admire your ability to silently complain and hold it all together while on the phone. You're such a sweet soul and I'm glad the card is working after your phone debacle.
Drearies here for a couple days but did get Buster out for his morning walk. Went for my quarterly thyroid labs and will go to endocrinologist Thursday for my Prolia shot. So nothing to exciting going on here this week but always find something to keep me busy.
Thinking of @micmel and Gabby today and many others here . In your pocket this week for all your struggles🌺
6 -
@irishlove wow .. painting .. really amazing. Good for you. So sorry to read of the pain you are enduring. Wishing you solutions and relief. ❤️And dealing with IBS is so difficult on top of everything. Ahhh.. constant adapting to life as it presents itself..the body as it ages and degrades makes me wonder about so much …the call for resilience of mind and body and spirit, and letting go of attachment are high up on the list. And yet here we are, dealing with the day to day ups and downs. Common to us all. ❤️ in your pockets as well.
@mara51506 you are a model cook and cleaner ! Your laundry posts always attract me. Not having my own washer and dryer I am in awe of your ingenuity . Love the creativity and endurance . I love the inferred joy you take in both as well. I am a reluctant cleaner, an absent launderer, but lover of cooking lol.. we all have our ways don’t we? Phone troubleshooting can drive you crazy… my DH and I always say .. there went another two hours … each time we have to call a support line. ❤️
@chicagoan i too have a variety of home projects I seriously want to avoid. And my DH keeps talking about buying a condo, downsizing but with modern amenities.. and it sounds good just not sure I have the energy ..but no rush I hope… who knows. I figure we’ll take it one year at a time and see both how my health is and how the home market is.❤️
@cookie54 hope your quarterly thyroid labs went well and nothing surprising popped up . aWishing the endocrinologist trip on Thursday for your Prolia shot goes well. Nothing exciting is good 👍 . Dreary days and rainy evenings .. good times for reading with a cup of tea ❤️
Starting 4th line of treatment tomorrow.. always an adventure of uncertainty. Rads treatment was successful, and now hoping the next systemic treatment will work for more than a few months.. we’ll see. I’m adapting as I go, which is my way. MRI was NED and waiting on PET. It’s these darn skin Mets that do not show on imaging, we are trying to contain. One day at a time.. meanwhile life is good.
In pockets for all who need me too. Will be leading a relaxation meditation as part of the upcoming BCO zoom panel on cancer and wellbeing and mental health on May 20th. Join if it is of interest ! Hugs to all. Rhonda6 -
Cookie, thank you, 98 per cent of the time I am a kind soul, if at home just do the virtual shouting. Partly for me, person frustrating me and neighbours. I have a super loud voice if shouting. It only came out when people were mean to my mom but it scared her too so managed to keep it toned down. DB used his loud voice when we were younger, used to be terrified of him. He has turned his loud voice down, SIL had one too but again, toned down most of the time.
Usual laundry will be going on as well as recycle organization, no lazy today for that, I have a lot that needs to go out, mostly boxes but also stuff like shredded paper as well. I have a few other recyclables as well, I tend to save those if they can be used for food as an airtight container. Also emailed property manager as it feels like heat is still on and the living room is superhot in the morning when I come out of my room. I have an A/C in the bedroom, the split AC always runs out of coolant so keep it up warmer, if need be I can stick a window fan in the window, I will see. For now if I am warm in here, have my cooling agents to keep me feeling cool. Neck fans, I found the other I thought I lost and already replaced it so I have 2.
I was bad yesterday and had two happy meals over both meals so have some KD noodles in a container and will add some cheese, chipotle beans and make up a chipotle sauce. I have the bean chipotle juice in a container and some of the Taco Bell chipotle as well as sour cream. Later will have eggs and an english muffin or something else later.
Forgot to add, will be adding kale to the pan as well as the beans since I need to get through those, they will need chopping as well. Might as well get tons of nutrition while eating. Also forgot to bring out the ham from the freezer so will bring out momentarily. I do have frozen sausage among other things and plan to cook up a burger later today or tomorrow.
Beyond that, the recycle organization will take a while, it tires me out which is dumb but there it is. Do a couple boxes first and tnen take a break, need to clean out the sink before making up my meals today so may do that at the same time. Anyway I will get it all done. I did go ahead and put a neck cooling fan on, pointed at my face which is enjoyable and the window fan is helping in the living room. Very breezy here.
I will be returning to the whiskas cat food as cat seem to like it better vs the more expensive stuff and give them regular cat food and more wet food.
Not heading out today, just planning to do the work today that needs doing so hoping everyone has a good day and in pockets for those who needs me.

Have to laugh, just looking through my own facebook page and under the people I might know to add as FB friends, King Charles is listed. That is so funny I actually had a good laugh about it.
8 -
Good evening all you lovelies. Mara, King Charles as a potential FB friend??? Oh I think you should give it a go and see what happens. LOL When you cook kale with other ingredients, does the taste of kale still prevail? Isn't it rather ridiculous how scammers get our information so easily and the actual cardholder has one heck of a time with the call center rep?
Rhonda, 4th line of treatment, my goosh. I don't know about skin mets, but DH just had a squamous cell carcinoma surgery on his cheek. He got lucky as they were able to get good margins. Here's to a great results with your new treatment and no side effects.. Condo sounds like an idea, but not the packing and moving. I hope your health holds for years to come and you enjoy your lovely home.
Tied up on phone call and I'll have to cut this short. Thanks for all the good wishes for wellness. In pockets for everyone's scans and life in general.
Laurel

Rhonda, in pockets for yor your new treatment line as well.
Irish, kale really does not taste bad to me. I chop it down and cook it in whatever I am making whether chopping into eggs or a bean sort of meal. The latest seasonings I am in love with are the chipotle and garlic so it sort of drowns out the kale. I only got the kale because Costco did not have any baby spinach. Good nutrition but I have to hide it in my food as I really don't enjoy the taste myself, usually chop pretty fine with the spice grinder.
Laundry getting started today, woke earlier than usual, still going to bed later than I think I should but do not worry too much about, sleep what I need to sleep, wake when nature calls. I get up if it is a civilized hour but if not, go back to bed. Would like to be in bed at more like 11pm or 12 am. Still working on that. I did email the property manager about the heat in the building, heat is still on. No response, for now just running my window air and split AC is on as well. I also have high velocity fans blowing the cooler air toward living room. I also wear the neck fan as well, just wonderful and got the evaporative headband that goes under the wig and an extra cooling towel. May go out today
Yesterday, got quite a bit of recycle out so that was good, there is still more but there is always next week to get stuff out as well.
Food for today, toasted english muffin, might put cheese on one side then microwave an egg and add the black forest ham slices to it. Later, add some ham to beans, still have the chipotle going, may use the chipotle and sour cream as a spread for the egg sandwich.
I do hope everyone has a good day, in pockets for anyone who needs me.
2 -
Well, thank goodness, property manager got my email and the heat was turned off, feels better already. Was hot when the heat was still coming through.
4 -
Well, had a nice nite out with DB and SIL. I was restrained, did get a bag of spinach, figure that it can be mixed with the Kale. Got some cat litter and sunscreen as well. Took a lot for me not to overspend at Costco with all the chips and such but I forsee more nutritious meals in my future, greens and beans among them. I also enjoy the KD pasta with meals, usually just do 1/4 cup with other things. Also annoyed my brother because I took his cat supplies and paid for them along with my litter but just told him we are even, I bought his stuff and he paid my stuff at costco so we were even. I usually transfer cash when I get stuff at the Costco. Was also nice to take a mini drive home as well.
3 -
@mara51506 Glad to hear you had a nice night out. Kudos to you on controlling your spending , it's not always easy . All the goodies like chips and sweets are always so enticing. Maybe next shopping trip you can treat yourself. Nothing exciting here just went to the endocrinologist for my Prolia shot and stopped for a couple groceries on the way home.
Wishing all a restful evening.

Mara, my DH and I did our semi-annual Sams club shopping today. We stocked up on paper goods, meat, and other misc. needs. We filled two carts and it cost a bunch, but it is done for a long time and I am glad. I am also exhausted as there were no scooters left and I had to walk the whole thing pushing a heavy cart. It is a big thing for me to go that far. I tired out at the end but made it through almost every aisle (skipping the middle.) Prior to that we did a lab run, stopped at Lowes, and had lunch with my BIL and SIL. It was a good but long day. Tonight I cooked a simple dinner and now all I can do it sit in the recliner. It is a good thing to still be able to get out and about so I know how you feel. This is the most I have done in one day for a long time.

Hello sweet ladies. Just popping into say hello belated Mother’s Day wishes. Gabbie had her double mastectomy on May 13 , she’s recovering at my house. I am on nurse duty 24 /7. I’m exhausted but there is nothing like feeling of taking care of your own she’s doing well. Surgery went well. But she’s in a lot of pain. I had to purchase a pillow made surgical bed from Amazon so she would be Comfortable. It’s 6 pieces and forms a bed on the couch. Beds cannot support her like she needed. She had no cancer in her nodes so they only took two for good measure. But I’m praying she’s cancer free. I think of you all. Sending my love out Cookie. Ty for thinking of me! It means alot you don’t forget. What my family is going through. Special ladies here. Love to all
8 -
Cookie, It was a good night out. Part of the reason I did not purchase chips is because I have chips and chocolate here at home I am still going through. Working on consuming everything even a bit at a time. In pockets for your endocrinologist appointment.
Intolight, sounds like a long and pleasant day for sure, I do like walking the store as well and getting bulk things done. If not out with DB, would do the bigger shops online, if I needed a few things, am debating walking up to the store. I am glad you relaxed, I would be asleep after all that.
Mel, glad Gabbie has had her surgery, another mile in the treatment she has done, you both sound very strong and glad she is being kept more comfortable. In your pockets for no further cancer as well. Glad she has her Mom looking out for her.
I woke up just now, pegged the issue of not being able to go to bed at a reasonable hour, snacking, need to make a new rule, no food after 8pm or possibly sooner. I got hungry and got home after 9pm. The walking makes me hungry, got home after 9pm and chowed down on chips and a bit of popcorn. 3am rolled around before bed. Oh well, the time I was asleep was good.
Laundry, daily vacuum, cat needs will take up most of the day. Budget boosting to follow, probably having my laptop play the cooking videos, get paid for ads and there is a word solitaire game I am playing for a bit of cash. Other than that water sort games where you put the colours in the same bottle are fun too. Never get rich but if I want to buy extra stuff, I use some of that. Slots are sometimes there but my hard and fast rule, no cash to be spent on a game ever. Games, even the small mobile ones like to put cash incentives to make you level up quicker but that just kicks a desire to keep spending and really having nothing in return. I will take my dollar a day and put it towards groceries.
Got lots of greens now, will be chopping spinach and still working on the kale, will put those in with my chipotle beans, with a bit of rice. I have the sliced ham I pulled out from the freezer, not loving it so will mostly chop up with eggs, microwave and chop for the pan to absorb some rubbed in butter and garlic spread. The chipotle beans and veggies will be good. The taco bell chipotle is good but will need to be toned down in either mayo or sour cream. First meal will be beans, a bit of rice and chopped spinach and kale. Might even put in some peppers from the freezer. Later meal will be eggs and ham in which I take a sprayed bowl, crack a couple eggs and the ham sclices, heat for 3 min 30 seconds, take a cooled egg and ham, chop and throw in the pan again for some flavour, have an eglish muffin with it.
Hope everyone has a great day, in pockets for all who need me.

@intolight Sounds like busy but nice day. I am also very grateful that I am able to do everyday things. I saw a neighbor at the dollar store the other day and she said oh I was talking about you. She commented to another neighbor that she sees me walking every day. I said well some days I push myself but you never know when the day will come that we all can't walk any longer.I use that phrase in my head to motivate myself. "Andrea walk until you can't walk anymore" May sound cheesy but true lol.
@mara51506 Gotcha ,I know there are plenty of times when I grocery shop and grab some things that I already have doubles of. I do like to stock up but within reason. I am going to a baby shower for my niece tomorrow and I make peanut butter buckeye brownies, wow! Thick rich and deliciously sinful definitely a keeper.
@micmel Oh so glad to hear surgery is behind her and she is recovering with you. Thank God the nodes looked clean, wonderful news also! That bed sounds like a blessing, amazing what you can find these days. I continue to pray daily for Gabby, you and many others here. I figure God knows who I mean even if I'm using our site names lol. Anyhow it's just my way and I hope I don't offend anyone. Don't forget to take care of yourself also!
7 -
@micmel This is good news that Gabby's nodes appear clear. I am sorry she is in a lot of pain but I know you are with her and helping any way you can.
@cookie54 I pray the way you do—everyday and I use the site names. I am sure God knows whom we are praying for. It is the most I can do now as my helping others in other ways are few.
5 -
Cookie - I love the "walk until you can't walk anymore"! I kind of have the same perspective. As long as I can walk, I feel like I'm doing pretty well. If I ever become unable to walk, I think it will be the beginning of the end for me for sure. Enjoy that baby shower - sounds like a good time!
Mel - Continue to think of you and yours and am so glad to hear that Gabby is doing reasonably well and moving forward. It is the absolute best thing that you can all be together for this. I'm so glad she is staying with you now. She needs her mamma!

About a week and a half ago I posted that I wasn't feeling the best and felt like I might have had food poisoning or a virus, or just bad side effects from the drugs. I was going to get my Faslodex shots, which I did on the 9th, and then had worse than usual side effects that have continued. The onc hadn't been particularly concerned as labs were stable. He too thought of bad food, mild virus, or side effects. Well I continued to feel pretty run down and then yesterday afternoon I felt a small sore spot in my midriff area, so tried to take a look at it. It wasn't in an area I could see very well, but I could tell that it was a small rash or maybe a bug bite; it looked raw and sore, but wasn't particularly itchy. I started to wonder about the possibility of shingles, so I looked at pictures online and what I had sure fit, except that it was such a small area. It also did look like some bug bites and even some kinds of skin metastases (that one really freaked me out), so I got nervous. What I read online about Shingles said that the key to keeping them from getting out of hand was to catch them real early and take antivirals. Because of that, I went to a walk in clinic this morning and told them my story and how I wondered about Shingles, but also bug bites, etc. Well, the NP I saw took one look at my small spot and said, "Shingles!" He said they are indeed just getting started in terms of the rash and he prescribed an anti-viral that is taken 5 times a day! Hopefully, this will nip it all in the bud. Apparently the anti-virals aren't a cure, but can keep things mild and shorter in duration. Here's hoping. Apparently it is real typical too, to feel all that run down and achy stuff I've been feeling for the last two weeks or more, before the rash starts. At least I can put a name on it now and take some sort of action, so I'm glad it got sorted out for the most part. This caught me by surprise and wasn't anything I was particularly expecting.
Shana - How are you doing?
Has anyone heard anything at all about Sondra? Is anybody here in touch with her at all? This is getting concerning for sure.
6 -
@threetree Oh no sorry you have shingles! Hope it was caught early enough and doesn't cause you very much pain. Ugh I really need to suck it up and go get my shingles vaccine. I've been delaying it for one reason or another. Hope you heal up quickly with the meds.
I'm also very concerned that sondra hasn't been seen. Makes me feel worried and sad.

@threetree so glad you caught this early. My Mom had shingles, and it was manageable. And hopefully you will be feeling better. Thank goodness you are on anti virals now! Good for you and your persistence to find out what it was ! ❤️ and yeah it wasn’t skin Mets. @cookie54 I also have to ask my MO about the vaccine for it, I’ve been so busy with my cancer treatments and finding a stable path, the regular aging upkeep has been on the back burner lol.. life and aging.
Hugs to all on this beautiful Sunday morning ❤️
