Oh no, Ruth! Hope you're not getting sick.
m0mmy: I bet your dog had a blast at your state park.
While Ruth has been unpacking I have been packing. We leave tomorrow for a river cruise. I'll try to post pictures.

I'm fine. Just really tired from sleeping in different beds (and with different people since we 4 ladies shared a room to save money!), being on the go so much & being so hot! We're up early again because earlier this spring I made some appointments with us in a town 100 miles away (what was I thinking?).
Have a great cruise Wonderland! We will be looking forward to your trip highlights!

Love the pics with Wonderland & Ruth!
That was quite a trip: ND to SC…you will definitely need a day or two to adjust back.
Got to gym Sunday and Monday…having lunch with my mother today and then the gym in late afternoon/pre-dinner.
Still blasted hot, but we are seeing a multi-day break starting at end-of-week…can't wait! TT

Tai Chi today
I have been reading the new Carly Fortune book, One Golden Summer. All of her books are set in Toronto and the lakes region north of Toronto. Perfect summer reading to bask in the cool thoughts of time on the lake when the heat index is 100 😁

I will have to look for that book, TT!
The weather would be great here if we weren't blanketed in smoke from the Canadian wildfires. I feel like I'm sniffing an ashtray. Not healthy. We have alerts to limit time outdoors. Here's the Wednesday Walking Women braving the elements.

Happy August everyone! The end of summer for me is in sight as school starts Aug 18th, two weeks from Monday, yikes!
Got to the gym 19 days in July, including 5 days already this week, but not today…going to lunch with a girlfriend who I haven't seen in awhile…actually 2 months I think. In good weather we meet up once a month for a glass of wine and lite snacks on my patio, but since early June there hasn't been much patio time here.
However, the weather has finally broke here in SE Virginia…the 10 day forecast is all in the 80's, will enjoy the respite with some outdoor time before the return of the heat and humidity.
Happy Friday all, TT

Oh my, TT, the clock is ticking!
I did more yard work, took 2 dog walks, and went to the clinic yesterday. I was pretty sure I had a sinus infection, and I did. I got some medicine & already am feeling better (my sinuses were so inflamed that my HAIR hurt!).
Hope you are having a wonderful cruise, Wonderland. We are going on a cruise down the Columbia & Snake Rivers at the end of September. Wednesday was the first day you could sign up for excursions, so now I am all fired up!

Hi Ladies!
I want to let you know that I really admire your dedication to staying active. I don’t post much on this site even though I have gained so much knowledge from BCO. More of a creeper…haha. Prior to my bc diagnosis in 2018, I decided to get serious about my fitness. Lost over 40lbs and started working out. I continued to walk during chemo and got back to the gym after my reconstruction surgeries (failed implant, failed LD flap, then had DIEP).
My exercise consists of 2-3 circuit classes/wk, walking. Just added Pilates and yoga this week.
Thanks for giving me the motivation to keep moving!Enjoy your cruise ruthbru! I live in southern part of WA state near Columbia River.

Welcome, Dimples90! Good for you for keeping active during chemo; which is a very smart thing to do! Sounds like you have a good exercise program going on. Keep posting here, we'd love more company! (What is the weather usually like where you live the first week of October?)
I feel a million times better than yesterday (probably because along with an antibiotic, they gave me prednisone, which has reduced the sinus swelling). I did a couple dog walks both yesterday & today, but will be glad to get back to the gym next week!

Thanks for the welcome!
The weather is usually very nice early in October. Cooler days. You have to always be prepared for rain though when you are in the PNW during the Fall. Seems like the rain has been starting later in October but just bring light rain gear to be safe.
Have a question for you ladies. How long did it take for your bodies to “recover” after finishing aromatase inhibitors. I finished last year. I have noticed less joint pain, stiffness. At least I can get up from sitting position without needing help from my husband. Used to think I walked like Frankenstein after sitting. However, I have to take some break days (no exercise) during the week. I try to do something gentle like restorative yoga. It’s so hard to know if this is just normal aging. I’m older than when I’m diagnosed so obviously that plays a part. I was 53 when diagnosed, 60 now. Some days I feel like I’m 80. I admit I feel so much better when I exercise but I’ve heard to “listen to your body”. I welcome any thoughts, advice 💕

Just popping in for a minute.
Welcome Dimples! Walking helped my joints during and after taking AI. My feet really hurt while on the pill. That being said, this past year I’ve had joint aches, tendon problems. Age is playing havoc with me.
Ruth: Glad you went to the clinic.
TT: Enjoy your last couple of weeks.
I’ve been cruising down the Tennessee River since Wednesday. It’s been calm and peaceful. Sleeping really good. And eating delicious food! I’m trying to be good. 😀 I haven’t been very active. My knee is hurting so I’m taking it easy. At least that’s my excuse. Here’s the river boat.

Dimples, I had once read that however long you were in 'active treatment', it would take that long again to get back to 'normal' (and that was for surgery, chemo, rads etc.) I had chemo & rads, an a lumpectomy (so did not spend as much time with surgeries as you did with what sounds like a long & difficult reconstruction experience) & I'd say it took me double the time I was in 'active treatment', so some of your issues may still be related to that phase of things. I was on Armidex for 5 years too & that took awhile to feel like I was back to 'normal' from that too. I definitely felt a lightening of my mood, less creaky etc. but it was gradual and did take awhile. I actually don't think that I should listen to my body (unless I am actually sick) because it would tell me to sit in my recliner, drink lattes, read books & nothing else! Ha!! Seriously though, I asked my trusted my GP about that very thing when I was trying to figure how much I should/dared to do. He said it was good to push a little (not to exhaustion or anything), but like anyone trying to get back in shape; no pain, no gain. I think it better for the body to alternate heavier & lighter days, and to do an number of different things. It is equally important to work on fitness in the 3 different areas of aerobics, strength training, and balance. And it doesn't always have to be 'hard' to be effective.
Off my soap box to say that I had a 'dog day'. Walked twice with my dog & since DS & SIL are out of town for the day, I went over to their house & hung out with their 4 dogs for a couple hours.
Wonderland, I will be asking you all about your cruise. That is one DH is rather interested in!
TT, I ordered 'One Golden Summer' but haven't started reading it yet.

Dimples, specially to recovery from AIs; mine was gradual & subtle. One day I realized I hadn't thought about being achy (or hot) all day, so I kept monitoring it for a while and then it was just gone. I am estimating it took about 6 months....maybe more, but it did go away. Of course, your estrogen drops off with age whether you're on an AI or not, so some 'aging' changes are to be expected. I've found that exercise helps manage them too.

Last day off. Tomorrow I will get back to work!

Zumba, dog walking, and a strength class…..it felt good!

Welcome Dimples.
Got to the gym Sunday and Monday. Taking today off as it is my birthday! Having lunch with my 90 y.o. mother and sister. DH and I will walk into our town center for dinner tonight (so I guess I will get some walking in 😉)
A year ago my mother was in the ICU having taken a fall at my home while I was at work. We celebrated in the hospital. We were looking at pictures from last year yesterday, ugh. This past year has been a gift.
Take care everyone, TT

Happiest of Birthdays to you, TT! So glad that your mom is doing well, that is indeed the best gift!
I went to Dance2fit, stayed for a strength class & walked the dog…..all in the morning because severe weather was predicted for this afternoon……which did happen; we have had a ton of rain, wind, thunder/lightning & are in a tornado watch. (I got extra exercise dragging all my pots & hanging baskets into the garage & storage shed before it got too bad.

Here's the Wednesday Walking Women!

TT: Happy Birthday! Glad your birthday this year was nothing like last year's.
Ruth: As I walked into a museum in Decatur, AL one of the employees was talking about The Andy Griffith Show. I told him I was in "Mayberry" 2 weeks ago and showed him our pictures. He loved it!
Returned back from the river cruise yesterday. Had the best time and good weather. I am really missing the dining room and all the delicious food! Plus, we had a little sign outside the room that said Clean My Room. Wish I had one in my house! My favorite excursions were to Helen Keller's home and 3 music studios in Muscle Shoals, AL. So many famous songs have been recorded there.
Here are a few pictures.
The actual pump is still at the house
Dh casually leaning against a piano that Lynyrd Skynyrd played Free Bird on plus many other artists used it in there famous songs.

Fun pictures, Wonderland! What was the name of the cruise you went on? I have been looking online & there are a couple that cover the general area where you were.
All my exercise teachers seem to be on end-of-the-summer vacations, so I tried something different. I went to a really slow, restorative yoga this morning (interesting, but maybe not enough movement for me). I will go to Dance2fit tonight (unless the bad is already bad, we are under an 'extreme weather' advisory for tonight & then again for tomorrow night (so I will get more exercise dragging flowers in). Something is brewing, it is SO hot & humid with really no wind right now. Ick!

It was an American Cruise Lines trip that is called the Tennessee Rivers Cruise. We were on the American Splendor. It started with spending the night at the Gaylord Convention Center and attending the Grand Ol' Opry. Jamey Johnson was one of the singers and I really like him. The other ports were Grand Rivers, KY (went into Paducah), Savannah TN, Florence AL, Decatur AL, and ended in Chattanooga.
Stay Safe, Ruth!

Thanks, Wonderland!

My part of town only had branches down from our middle-of-the-night storm, but the other side of town had trees down, power outages etc. Crazy weather all over!
Took 2 dog walks & dragged all the flowers back out of the garage and storage shed AGAIN!

Dog walk, yard work, swept out the garage, and I should clean my kitchen……which may, or may not, happen!

I got some exercise raiding my aunt's garden with her permission

Nothing beats vegetables right out of the garden!
Two dog walks again.

Absolutely! I had enough green beans to snap and fit into three sandwich bags to freeze. Several small tomatoes and a ton of cukes! I made a tomato, onion and cuke salad for tomorrow night.

Thank you for the wonderful advice ruthbru! Really appreciate it and the welcome from you ladies💕
Looks like you had a great time on your cruise, Wonderland! Enjoyed seeing the photos.
Went to circuit classes x 2 this week. It involves a mix of core, cardio and weights. Also did a Pilates mat class. I am not a fan but it’s a great workout so I push myself to attend. It’s a new class being offered at our small gym. Also did some dog walks. Now I’m trying to move things back into our kitchen. Just finished a renovation.I really enjoy restorative yoga, ruthbru. Looks like we are opposite when it comes to yoga…haha. I especially like it at the end of the week if I’m sore from circuits. I was going to say I don’t like mat Pilates because there’s not movement. However. I like restorative yoga so my reasoning doesn’t make sense.
Hope you ladies have a good week!
