It is so cold & icy here. Miserable, you just do the things that you have to do and nothing more! I went to mat pilates this morning & did a 30 minute dance routine on Utube at home this afternoon.

Yoga & walked around the track at my fitness center for 45 minutes.

Wonderland, what happy news - a Christmas Baby!
So cold here I stayed inside today. Read the new Lincoln Lawyer book by Michael Connelly and made lasagna. Wondering if we should make the 90-mile trip to see MIL tomorrow as we do on Sundays. Love her but my car is a 2003 Camry with 350K miles on it. Has been very reliable but if anything goes wrong, we’d be in trouble. DH wants to go; I’m not so sure. Will decide in the morning. Stay safe & warm all!

Taking the day off!!

Good for you, Ruth, you deserve a day off!
We got there and back no problems. Brought lasagna & soup, frozen chocolate chip cookie dough balls, and brownies. Cooked a meatloaf & twice-baked potatoes for the week’s meals. Gotta make sure granny is well-fed!

It is really cold here in Virginia (overnight low was in the teens with wind chill of zero)…but at least the streets are clear - no snow/ice.
Got to the gym today…with NYC and work, that is the first sign in at the gym since Dec 2nd, crazy. On track to go 4 times this week. TT

its cold here but nothing like ya’ll are experiencing.
Badger: Everything sounds delicious. You’re such a good dil.
dd’s bp started to elevate too high so they went to the hospital last night. They thought they were going to be sent home but instead she was admitted. They slowly started the induction process last night. At 1:30 today she was given Pitocin which gets things really going. Dh and I are just hanging around the hospital waiting area and feeling very blessed.0 -
Baby boy was born tonight at 7:21. Mom, Dad and Baby are doing fantastic!

A fast movie blizzard moved through (lots of wind, but thankfully little snow). Luckily things settled down so we could have our Dance2fit Christmas Party.

Cute pictures, Ruth! Love all the festive clothes.
I watch the evening news most days and the weather just sounds awful. I'm amazed how you don't let that stop you!
Dd and baby went home yesterday. On Tuesday her husband started running a fever so he went to urgent care. He's negative for covid and flu but being treated for strep bc the doctor has been seeing a lot of it. He stayed home and I spent the night at the hospital with dd and baby. Little baby cried and cried but finally settled down. DD and I did get a little sleep.
Tomorrow ds and gd come to spend the night. On Saturday we are celebrating Christmas with dh's side of the family. I need to exercise more bc I've been sitting a lot and not eating well. Got to be better.

Hope SIL is feeling better, Wonderland, and that he doesn't spread it to DD or the new baby.
Mat pilates & a cold dog walk today.

Got to the gym 4 times this week, first normal week of December, yikes!
We are now in winter recess, so should do okay the next couple of weeks even with shorter options due to the holidays.
Hearing the fireworks right now as we are celebrating Grand Illumination, so nice to live downtown where I can see fireworks from my back patio vs being in the crowds.
Happy Days as we all prepare for the holiday and Happy Holiday already to you Karen! TT

Yea for winter breaks, TT!
I cleaned the house all morning yesterday (with one bathroom still to go). In the afternoon, I met up with a friend to take a tour of the holiday decorations at the historic courthouse in our town. It was built in 1883. Eventually a new courthouse was built. After years of neglect, this one was literally about to be knocked down when a group of citizens jumped into action. Through a series of legal maneuvers (ending up in the State Supreme Court), the courthouse was saved & has been restored to its former glory.

Ruth: The courthouse looks amazing. Lots of beautiful decorations that took time and talent to display them.
TT: Happy Winter Recess!
DD and sil had to bring little baby to the ER at 1:30 am early Saturday morning. He was sleeping too much and not eating enough. DD said when they walked into the lobby they couldn't believe it bc it was full of people. The nurse said everyone there had the flu and they took the baby right away. His body temperature was 95 degrees so he was transferred by ambulance to a Children's Hospital NICU 30 minutes away. A ton of tests have been run and thank goodness all are negative. The doctors think the baby had not been getting enough calories to keep his body warm. His body chose to use all his energy to keep his body warm which is why he was so sleepy and his temperature was low. DD has been breastfeeding and her milk had not come in but he was getting the colostrum. They have strict visitation limits and luckily I was able to visit on Saturday while my sil ran home for a little bit. I'm very proud of DD as she is doing very well, all things considered. Of course she thinks it's her fault that the baby was not getting enough nutrients bc she was only breastfeeding. Her attitude now is well, this happened lets just move forward. Her milk has come in and she is able to pump and see exactly how much milk there is. The baby has been receiving formula since being in NICU and also her breastmilk. Thank goodness it's all working! His temperature has been staying up, he's eating more frequently, he's gaining weight. They thought they would be discharged today but the doctor wanted him to eat more at each feeding before being discharged. Hopefully tomorrow will be discharge day.
I hope all this makes sense. It's been a tense, worrisome time. I know they are exhausted. He turned 1 week old today and has already spent 5 days in a hospital. It's unnerving.
I walked today. Needed it.

Oh, poor baby, and poor mom, gramma, and everyone. Wonderland, I didn't end up in the hospital (I was a bigger baby than you little guy), but I was a very, very unhappy baby (I cried continually ) until they figured out that my mom wasn't producing enough milk. She felt terrible, but was really happy that when she added formula I settled down & turned into a good baby after all. Since the only thing that really matters is that a baby is healthy & happy, I don't think any mother should feel guilty about how she/he gets there. 💓

Four of the WWW ladies walked this morning (everyone is super-busy with holiday preparations) & I stayed for LIFT. I have out-of-town company arriving soon, so will sign off for a couple days. Merry Everything!

Ruth: Great picture as always. Have fun with your company.
Little baby came home today and doing well! DD and sil are exhausted. They are settling back in and are so happy to be home.
I walked early this afternoon then met a friend to play Mah Jong.

Yes, Happy Holiday to each and everyone of you beautiful ladies❣️
Spent this afternoon cooking a nice Christmas Eve meal to bring over to DD and sil (and us also). We were able to have a long visit with baby. He is eating good and that makes me so happy.
I walked this morning before I started cooking. Knew if I didn't do it in the morning it was not going to happen.

So glad the baby is doing well, Wonderland. That is the best Christmas gift!
After two very busy, fun days of entertaining, I am so lazy that I even declined going on a dog walk this afternoon!

Happy post-Christmas greetings to all.
I have been reading on my phone, but not posting this week so far - need to get on the computer to type.
So scary Wonderland, was sending prayers from VA to NC, so happy your grandbaby is now home and all get rest and recuperate.
Great pictures Ruth of courthouse and the WWW.
Going off to gym at noon, which will make 4 gym days this week — not bad given gym was closed 2 days.
It was 60 on Christmas Day so DH and I went for a walk from our home to our festively decorated downtown complete with temporary ice rink open and full of skaters on Xmas Day!
Take care everyone. TT

We've had a very fun holiday, with lots of food! My brother & SIL came about 4:00 on the 23rd. After visiting, we met DS & DIL for dinner & then came home, played a game & watched a Christmas movie. We took them on a Courthouse Tour before they left about noon. We went to a wonderful candle light church service, had friends for dinner. After they left, we & DS & DIL opened gifts before they went and brought their dogs over for some more fun! They stayed until midnight & by the time we had things cleaned up, it was 2 am. We all slept in Christmas Day & enjoyed a day of eating leftovers and watching TV. I went to mat pilates this morning & did 45 minutes of dancing around to a workout on utube. It is VERY icy here. It's DIL birthday, so they are coming over for dinner tonight. They go to her folks to celebrate Christmas with her family tomorrow; which means we'll have an all day Dog Party here!!
