Catching up after the holidays. I have been a bad badger, eating too much & not exercising enough. I don’t drink much alcohol, and did forego the eggnog (300+ calories for a tiny glass!), so it wasn’t a total dietary disaster. Got to the gym yesterday & today so am back on track.

Wonderland, congrats on the birth of your grandson!

    TT, belated happy birthday!

    Ruth, great pics as usual.

Happy New Year to all! 🎉

Walked at my fitness center & went to Yoga. We've been dogsitting the grandpuppies since 10:00. Their parents should be back by about 7:00 pm. Animal House!

Hope everyone is doing okay. Sunday was a nasty weather day; snow/high winds etc. Things weren't shut down, but you had to really want to do something to go out in it. I did some utube dance videos and did go out for yoga. I went to Zumba this morning & HIT tonight.

Got to the gym Sun/Mon/Tues, but that will be it for this week…the gym is closed today and tomorrow and then we have lunch plans, DH and I, with another couple on Friday 😀

I'm a list and planning type of person, so checked my monthly excel for gym days and I got to the gym 167 days in 2025…that sort of sounds good. Clearly I do use my gym membership…but it is less than 50% of the time…but between mom/work/travel…I won't be setting a resolution to do more AT the gym, just to keep moving.

I signed up for my first cruise awhile ago, but the shore excursions opened today…DH and I will go to Alaska late May/early June. Signing up for excursions is making it seem real.

Happy New Year to all, stay warm and safe amidst the winter cyclone! TT

Took everything off the tree and put it away. Took down the rest of the decorations too.

I'm excited for your cruise, TT! Once you get to pick excursions, you know you're close!! It's hard to get to the gym as much as you want with work & family responsibilities. One of the things I love about retirement is that I can make exercise a priority instead of just trying to squeeze it in.

Here's the Wednesday Walking Women. One of our good friends is in the hospital, and after tons of tests, they've discovered a rare autoimmune disease. They aren't releasing her until they come up with a treatment plan, but she's well enough for company. So, DH & I are bringing over a cheese/fruit/chocolate platter & some sparkling grape juice at 7:00, so she & her DH can have a little holiday cheer anyway.

Walk and Eat! Wishing a happy, healthy 2026 to us all!

Badger: You cracked me up when you wrote "I've been a bad badger." Glad you're back on track.

TT: An Alaska cruise sounds amazing. I'm sure you will sign up for some exciting excursions.

m0mmy: I've been doing the same thing also.

Ruth: So sorry about your friend. What a nice thing to do for her and her dh while she's in the hospital. I know they greatly appreciate it.

Hi All and Happy New Year's Eve! We grilled out tonight and I was able to bring DD and dh supper to ring in the New Year. Grandson is doing awesome - he's eating well, has gained weight, and has had good doctor check ups.

This week I have been slowly going through kitchen cabinets/drawers. I have 2 lower cabinets that I can hardly see what's in the back of them much less get to the items without having to move the things in front of them. Fixed that problem by pulling everything out, getting rid of a few of the items, and rearranging so that the only things in them are at the front of the cabinets and I don't have to reach/remove anything to get to them. Just a few of the items were moved to an other area in the kitchen. I'm having a good time getting my kitchen in a more workable state and I can get to items easier. Plus, it's always a bonus to declutter and get rid of stuff I don't need or use anymore.

Yesterday I took down my Christmas decorations. I have a few winter decorations so I put those out. I will take down the tree tomorrow.

Walked this afternoon. 50 degrees with some gusty wind.

Come declutter my house when you're done with yours, Wonderland. Mine REALLY needs it! So glad that the baby is doing well! I am leaving my decorations up until next week. It will be so boring when I take them down. It's cold here. I am skipping the dog walk with 'the boys' to drink coffee. Maybe I will do an online workout later, We don't have any plans for the day, so it should be nice & quiet.

    Love the quote, Ruth.

I took down the Christmas tree today and the only decorations left are the outside lights that are on 3 bushes. I'll take them down tomorrow.

I'm in the mood to continue going through things, rearranging, getting rid of. Taking it slow and a little at a time so I don't burn out. Really need to go through paper files and shred reports, etc I don't need anymore.

Dh cooked the traditional New Year's Day supper - collards, black eyed peas and corn, and ham hock.

    Walked this afternoon.

I keep all the lights in and out up through Epiphany…taking it all down the next day. I love how the lights literally light up the dark midwinter!

I also made black eyed peas mine with ham and stewed tomatoes. We also had lobster meat (DH gets claws and picks them - very handy) and shrimp. There is so much food leftovers in my house I could feed 10 for dinner!

Such good news on your grandson. Good for you to walk…we have had similar temps but with the wind, the windchill has been making it feel 15-20 degrees colder, which get too cold for me! TT

Loving all the updates! So grateful to be part of this community.

Skipped the gym yesterday cuz I figured it would be packed. Spent the day decluttering. Seems to be a trend LOL. Went today and gym was practically empty. I don’t do resolutions but have set a goal to do 150 mins/week of cardio and strength training twice a week.

Ham with black eyed peas & greens is yummy. We had pot roast dinner, though. Going out for Friday fish fry tonight.

Mat pilates this morning & Zumba on utube. No exciting meals to report. We ate lunch at the hospital with our friend whose wife is still in there and leftover hotdish & salad for dinner.

Gym was almost empty again today. Strange. Bought myself a New Year’s gift - new Hoka sneakers. Not cheap but my feet are worth it.

Feet are definitely worth it! I went on a dog walk & walked at the gym today. I've been doing a project that requires too much sitting!

TT: I decided to keep one strand of solar powered lights up in the front yard. I wrapped it around the trunk and lower branches of a dogwood tree.

Badger: Hoka shoes are definitely worth it! Enjoy them.

Ruth: I've done nothing but sit today 😮

Yesterday I met a friend to walk. We ended up just talking. I hadn't seen her since October so we had a lot to catch up on. In the afternoon I met another friend and 2 other people to play Mah Jong. Usually it's just my friend and me and it was fun playing the game with 4 people.

Today I have been bad and just hung around the house. It was supposed to be a rainy day but ended up with only a bit of rain. I read a little and was on the computer too much but luckily I didn't do any mindless eating which would have been very easy to do!

Woohoo…get to go back to the gym today! Sunday, with the holidays and other activities, I haven't been to the gym since Tuesday, yikes!

New shoes are definitely worth it and the cost of good ones also makes for motivation to use them!

TT: Glad you have been able to get back to the gym.

Ruth: Sorry about your gloomy day.

It was a beautiful, crisp 55 degrees day here. Walked and then sat for a 2 hour zoom meeting.

    Good job, TT!

Zumba this morning, HIT tonight. In between, I made dinner for a sick friend & started to take down the Christmas decorations….which also means cleaning…..yuck!

TT: Hope you have a good week back to school after your break.

Ruth: That's nice that you provided a home cooked meal for your friend.

Cloudy day so I continued slowly decluttering. I went through a 2 drawer file cabinet and removed 2 inches of outdated paper reports stored in it that are longer needed. Some will be shred at the next free shred day and some went straight to the recycling bag. Tomorrow Habitat for Humanity ReStore will come to the house to pick up some furniture that we don't use anymore and are taking up space. I'm doing a little at a time like decluttering experts recommend so I don't get burned out and overwhelmed. Feels good to get things I don't need out of the house.

Dh and I brought supper (not home cooked) over to DD and sil. Got to hang out with the little baby! He's eating good but has his days and nights mixed up. Luckily it's getting better but they are pretty tired.

I had a hair appointment this morning, finished taking down the Christmas decorations, and got most of the cleaning done. Core & Zumba tonight.

Got to the gym last night where a substitute teacher gave us a real workout! Loved it.

Will go to TaiChi at lunch.

We are starting with the Christmas take down…external items down…inside house stuff lingers😋

Gym Monday, Tuesday, and today! 30 mins cardio every day + weights yesterday. I have a love/hate relationship with kettlebell squats.

Great picture, I know what your mean about kettlebells.

Will have lunch with mom and get to the gym after work. Having a burst of warm weather here in Virginia, need to go for a walk to take advantage of it!

It’s been raining all day. Blah! Cleaned house in lieu of the gym. Vacuuming the carpets and scrubbing the bathroom floor & walls counts as exercise, right? Still have a lot of paperwork that needs to be sorted for filing or shredding. Made meatloaf for supper. DH plays cards with his buddies tonight so I have a nice quiet evening with a good book - Queen Esther by John Irving.
