@shanagirl I am sorry there is drama coming from both your DD and bad language on the phone. People need to be kinder to each other considering you also have cancer, I am sorry DS had to be away but he is a good person lending support. Drama is something that none of us need whether feeling well or not and DD may regret her ways and language with you and your DH, in pockets lending support to you both.
@irishlove We got our . portion of the ice storm, going to get more ice salt for myself, building has done some salting but no harm in a bit more is what I say.
Well, one sde effect of ice storm is power outage which I am dealing. Lots of ch withargers so can watch movies and such and keep phones charges, got those hip fans, act as flash light and extra charge to phones and other stuff. Going to be pitch black soon. Wish I had some tea lights, could pop into the muffin trays and make tea and other stuff. If it stays out too long, empty fridge into boxes and store outside.
Power came back on soon after this was written, went out for a bit longer and came back on later.

I had a weird sleep again, slept til 530 am on couch, not on purpose. Went to bed after and slept til now. Used to it so not worried about it.
Planning to get some ice salt delivered so I feel safe taking out garbage tomorrow night and just to remove the ice portion of stuff, do not mind snow itself but ice underneath is bad. I will get it from Walmart, is cheaper. Got last couple of appointments before surgery, CT scan of body and consult with neurosurgeon again then off until Jan 5 to see regular MO and Jan 7 is surgery day, hooray. I am still feeling like this surgery will be similar to first brain surgery with a longer stay due to days of week involved.
This app't just involves DB since SIL has some busy work to take care of for herself.
I have laundry, left over dishes from last night, washing to finish up and that is about it. Sweeping is a good idea, ordering ice melter, probably from Walmart, cheaper than Amazon is.
I am planning to open lentils, rinse and put in a container, will air fry them along with chia seeds and put some leftover mexican rice in the air fryer as well with some cheese. Use some fresh cheese in there as well. If I do not have that then will microwave egg and mini pot pie if I have any. I will check. Also want to use up the yogurt, nanners and apple sauce. Add some jello and a pack of the fruit punch mio. Would be some protein in there. Doing up a shop for Walmart, pick up ice melter, some extra pasta, liking the beef macaroni a lot and will likely get that too.
Update, ordered stuff from walmart, beef macaroni times 3, 2 bananas, strawberry yogurt, no sugar with strawberries, more mio, lentils and beans, both canned, lots of burritos. Mostly the bean and beef but also breakfast burritos. I already have a shopper shopping the order so will get it soon. I can stretch meals a lot. Coming soon, skipped salt and will wait for building to take care of it first.
Hope everyone has a good day and I am in everyone's pockets as well. I will eat when delivery from Walmart Grocery arrives.
It just arrived, having a breakfast burrito I think, will have leftovers from the mexican rice this evening and a banana and yogurt done up in the magic bullet later today.

@sf-cakes Happiest of birthdays to you🥳 oh my that cake looks yummy! Hope you enjoyed it.
@chicagoan So glad your brother is ok, so scary! Sending healing thoughts his way.
Well I also had a very scary Christmas as my 21 year old nephew was found unresponsive Christmas eve morning by his mom my sil. He is still in ICU today and intubated and undiagnosed. He also suffered several seizures and his mri yesterday showed he suffered oxygen loss to his brain. Oh how we all just cried and cried yesterday. Dr said we will see how he progresses but may take some time. What a difference a day makes today he’s starting to become conscious and respond to some commands!!!! We are all just continuing to pray that he makes a full recovery . They may try to extubate him tomorrow. Since all testing has not shown a cause for all this dr today said they will start looking at autoimmune diseases and heavy metal poisoning . Our family has had so many hardships this year we’re hoping 2026 is better 🙏🏻
@mara51506 Glad your belly has settled and your feeling better. Sending hugs and positive thoughts as you await surgery.
For all the ladies struggling with family issues I hope your loved ones realize there’s nothing like family and work towards resolution.
Glad to hear most here were able to enjoy their holidays.
Always thinking of my sisters here and praying for strength and healing ❌⭕️

So today it was overcast and dreary. Cold, windy and rainy sleet, making it icy. It must be this weather that’s making me feel extra stiff and achy in my ribs and hips and ankles, which really hurt when I slowly went downstairs for breakfast this morning. I hung out downstairs in the kitchen and had a glass of kefir, and a bowl of jello, the watched the fish in the living room in our aquarium. As. Sat there I felt like i just wanted to go upstairs and get horizontal because my whole back hurt and felt to weak to even hold myself up. It;s jusgt one of those bone pain days so I went upstairs to my bedroom, followed by the 2 pugs and we got into bed, and Gitmo felt better to be laying down, and reading .
@chicagoan I’m thinking of your brother. My youngest son was plagued by hernia issues and 2 surgeries within 5 years during and after them.college. he still deals with pain issues and sees a neurologist who has helped him with prescriptions to manage and eliminate his pain issues. He’s 47 now and has not ever had an emergency like your brother did. I hope your brother gets well soon.
@mara51506 . Stay safe and stay off the ice, girl😉
@threetree I think about you often. I’m sorry about your sister issues carrying over to your 2 daughters. it’s not always easy with adult children and our siblings sometimes. I have 3 sisters, I am the oldest of the 4 of us. two of them don’t speaker with me. the two younger ones. I am very close to my one sister. we are exactly 1 year apart. I was born on April 4th and on year later she was born on April 2nd.. the third sister was born 3 years after us, and my 4th sister was born after my mother & father divorced. She was born when my mother remarried when I was in 7th grade, so she was quite a bit younger than the three of us. but over the years she grew closer to my other youngest sister who never got along with me. that sister and I have not spoken since our 20’s, and she has never been a very nice person. the other sister has lived out west since marrying and divorcing twice. so I don’t even think about them because they are not in my life. at my age I want peace and food vibes. even my adult children remain close to me and DH other than occasional disagreements and drama. But family is family and even close family have certain dynamics within that can sometimes carry over during family get together. I always worry that my 2 DD’s will get breast cancer. I worry that with my own limitations would keep me from helping. My Youngest DD has her DH and they have been together for 20 yrs and are close, but I worry about my oldest DD who is 49 Divorced, works hard and has no one to lean on.. She is serial online dater but she always meets jerks who pop in and out of her life. So that worries me….my heart always hurts for her, even now after Christmas drama.. @threetree have a peaceful restful evening 🩵
@goldensrbest Hey there girl. I;ve always kept scented candles going during the day over the years. I love to start in the fall with the apple cider and cinnamon sticks simmering. that always gave a comforting feeling during chilly fall days.💚🧡🤎🍁🍂
@intolight, I’’m happy you had an enjoyable Christmas with your family. That’s what it’s all about.
@irishlove sorry you had to toss ou the frozen mashed potatoes from Publix😂. good thing you had the Bob Evan’s ready made potatoes to fall back on😉
@sf-cakes Cake for breakfast is always ok when you’re turning 56, belated Happy Birthday!🎉🎈🎂🎊🎁🩵

Hi everyone. Hope that this note finds peace and pain free days. @sf-cakes Belated Happy Birthday. Your cake looked gorgeous. Bet it was yummy, too. @intolight Prayers that your treatment kicks as* and you will enjoy many Christmases to come. @shanagirl Families are certainly complicated. Your meal sounded so delicious and a partner in the kitchen, what a pair you two make. @cookie54 Oh what a frightening thing to happen to your nephew on Christmas. He sounds young and healthy so hopefully he will heal quickly and be back to his old self. DH went thru this last year. He did develop an infection so had to return for another minor surgery. He's doing well for a 79 yr. old.
DD is still here. She hasn't attempted to get the DGD moving. That child was up all night and fell asleep at noon. I wish I could say this is the exception but it's not. No school, no parental controls over her phone and tablet. . DGD can't concentrate, hates loud sounds and needs help. Public school did nothing to help. We want to try private school but if she won't listen to us, well she won't listen to a teacher. Needs mental health and physical eval, perhaps on the autistic scale? DD had a spontaneous colon death 7 weeks after her baby was born (only child). She was visiting us in Boone and was so sick that she went by ambulance to the hospital. She was airlifted to Winston-Salem Baptist hospital and the surgeon saved her life. He removed a large area of necrotic intestines, attached a iliostomy bag and stitched back up from under her breast bone down to her pubic bone. 85% mortality rate. A lot of prayers from so many and we received a miracle. Since then it's been difficult for her. But no excuse with how she's raising her child or treats her parents. She doesn't work either so financial aide is from the bank of dad and mom. Lovely husband, works hard but just not enough income and she announced they are separated recently (her idea). He lives in the camper and wants his family back and we need her to move back. Awful tired of doing everything for them when we both suffer cancer and minimum retirement funds. Do love them all truly, just need a break….
@mara51506 Hope you are eating better and not attempting to lay salt. Just no worth it. I too will light a candle for you and pray and be in your pocket from now until you are healed.
My wishes for all those in Mel's room is for a healthy and happy New Year. So many drugs in the pipeline and surely we will find one that works for us.
Irishlove

sf-cakes - Happy Belated Birthday 🎂! Hope that cake was yummy!
cookie - so very sorry to hear of your nephew’s medical issues. Prayers that he has a full recovery 🙏🏻🙏🏻.
irish - 🙏🏻🙏🏻 for you too with your family situation. Have you considered talking to a lawyer? I know it means spending more $$$ but you need to protect yourselves.
Start of a new week. DD & SIL from Philly arrive Tuesday, staying till Saturday. Looking forward to a great visit.

Light snow this morning but it's gone now. However, my DS left early this morning to drive to DIA and catch his plane back home east to northern New York. He heard he has at least ten inches of snow at his house and it continues to snow as I write this. His plane is delayed an hour already but he hopes he makes it home. I do too! I miss him already. It is sad to read that so many cities across the world and cancelling or paring down the New Year's celebrations. We need to pray for peace now more than ever.

@cookie54 I am sorry to hear about your nephew and the unknown reason for seizures and being found unresponsive, I am in all of your pockets a cause is found soon and he pulls out soon as well.
@irishlove I am sorry so much is falling on the shoulders of your husband and you when it comes to DD and DGD. You both need to watch how much money is given out as she will not be able to help you in return. Wonder if finding different services to help her out would be more helpful than money. Any way you slice it, I am in your pockets including DH, DD and DGD. Sending you a big supportive hug.
Not too much happening here, big garbage day, sloppy as ice is melting down, could be slippery, need to be careful. Ordered ice salt from amazon, walmart was sold out, not surprised by that. It is coming today. Also accidentally dropped humidifier breaking a piece out which seems to be necessary to run it, bought a new one as I truly do like the humidifier. Need to be more careful next time and already bought another one.
Not sure about food, thinking a yogurt, banana and apple sauce put in the magic bullet, bit of water and a fruit punch mio packet as well. I may also add some lentils to the mix as well, uncooked as well, I will see. I still have laundry to get through and boxes to break down and if unsafe outside, will have to find a place to store stuff as not taking a chance of a fall. I will see what happens. May apply cleats, I will see. We are supposed to have a flash freeze here and damaging winds on Monday. Yuck and more yuck, parking lot in back as ice and water to deal with too. My thing is too keep safe, front area looks better than the back area too. Weather on Tues is just snow flurries which is good. If all else fails, two spiked canes with cleats would give a lot of traction.
Have a good day, I am in pockets for everyone and families that need support as well.

I have also realized that if I have a ton of laundry to dry, would make sense to dry in both living room and bedroom as they are on opposite plugs. Pulled the heater off one side table and building in the living room and use either convential dryer or the one that hangs up. Only real difference, one blows heat up and bedroom one blows heat down to hanging items, would get stuff done faster.
I have also decided to make crispy lentils along with hashbrowns in the air fryer first, could also make an egg in there. Although microwave makes a quick egg, I like the crunch the air fryer supplies.
The crispy lentils, 1/2 cup worth and a couple of eggs with garlic salt on bottom of the air fryer made for an excellent crunch, I put two 4 min timers, stirred in between. Put into a bowl. I then baked a hashbrown, 4 mins each side, came out perfect. Added to lentils and eggs when finished cooking it. Added mayo, white cheddar seasoning, sour cream and onion seasoning and some salt. Mixed it all and OMG, it was delicious. I really did enjoy it. Tonight I will try lentils in my magic bullet yogurt, banana and some applesauce, add a bit of water and pack of fruit punch mio powder. Should taste quite good.
I did make up a smoothie that contained 1/4 cup lentils, banana, yogurt, jello and mio powder, fruit punch flavour. I could not detect the lentils at all, the mio drowns out all other tastes in the smoothie and that is good.

Well, after hemming and hawing all day regarding taking the garbage out, decided to skip it for today as it looks quite icy out front and not looking for a fall. I will salt the walk tomorrow and earlier on Tuesday as I have a CT and final meeting with neurosurgeon. Week off then have the surgery day.
4 -
@mara51506 Good decision just not worth a fall! Glued in your pocket for all appointments and surgery.
@intolight Hope your DS has made it home safely by now. So glad you all had such a nice family visit. Yes, peace to all now and in this new year ahead.
@goldensrbest Enjoy your family visit also!
@irishlove Oh no this just breaks my heart to hear this story about DGD. Such a difficult situation for you and DH when all you want is the best for her. Seems so simple but family and life can be so complex sometimes. Continued prayers for harmony.
@shanagirl Hope your back and whole body feels better today. This cold damp weather is the worst for that!
Thank you so very much for your thoughts and prayers for my nephew. He is now breathing on his own!!! He is having periods of awareness also, so great news! Divine intervention for sure and what they see on imaging studies doesn't always transpose to real life! One day at a time and he may just defy the odds on brain injuries.🤞🙏

@cookie54 Yeah, I can store stuff til I can get it out safely. Got plenty of ice melter, planning to put some down as I will need things cleared up. The other consideration was all the rain we had yesterday as we were 10 degrees above freezing and now are frozen so there will be ice under the snow.
Nothing on agenda beyond getting through dishes, stowing garbage elsewhere, got the boxes they can go in til the next gargage pickup in two weeks. I also have a fair bit of laundry to get through. Debating on getting another humidifier, I had the one I have fall off the table it was stored on and spill the entire load of water, a piece broke off inside so the current one. Will not replace it at this point unless start coughing again which is unlikely.
No really weird food today, probably crisp up the lentils in fridge with a couple of eggs, Could also go down to one egg, heat up burrito, cut in half, crisp the outside a bit as well. I will see what I want to do. I do like taking shorter cycles now in the air fryer. Have the banana smoothie before supper and supper can be a simple tortilla with peanut butter. I have a lot of options. I am also going to put in small Walmart order to pick up some peanut butter granola bars to have after the CT.
I am getting closer to surgery day which is good, spend some days in hospital, I am guessing 5 due to the day of week surgery is. I will have staples to contend with as neurosurgeon tends to use those. Doubt I can wear wigs until staples are removed. That is OK. Once I am done with surgery at the other hospital and released, DB and SIL should have a break for a bit as appointments return to regular hospital.
I do hope all have a good day, in pockets for all as well, anyone who was affected by the freezing rain, stay safe as well.

I found one of my frozen macaroni beef meals in the fridge, decided to have that instead of lentils and a bunch of other stuff and it tastes good.

@shanagirl - Hi Shana, wanted to get back with you after you've made so many posts to me, but I have not messaged back. I am just so wiped out this fall/winter. Thank you for your sympathies re my sister and daughters; I'll never understand it, but I guess we all have these family dramas, at least from time to time. Like you have said, I think you and I often have similar side effect situations and I've noticed that our original diagnoses were also in the same ball park, except that yours was about 10 years before mine. My original diagnosis was in fall of 2018 and it was for left side Stage IIIB, Grade 2, ER+99%, PR+99%, HER-. It's changed some over time, and I became Stage 4 in January of 2023. We've had real similar drugs and I think that's probably some of the reason we've had some similar side effects too, with all the joint and muscle aches, especially with changes in the weather, etc. This fall though in particular has brought me some exceptional aches and pains. It started back in very late September or early October with the low magnesium that I didn't know about until November. So many muscle and nerve issues, along with starting to feel more and more down in the dumps and like something wasn't right. Some of that muscle stuff improved, when the magnesium problem was discovered and addressed, but then the weather effects kicked in with our successive rain storms, barometer changes, and actual humidity and warmer air. Now it's clear and cold and that has a whole new, but painful effect on a good part of my body. Lately I've been mainly dealing with a TMJ/osteoarthritis issue in my jaw that is making my whole head hurt; kind of like migraine, and then it also causes problems with my shoulders and upper back, most all day, every day. Scans from earlier this month did show some progression in my liver and bones, but the MO says the pace is still slow, so not an immediate emergency. I'm seeing him for follow-up and fulvestrant shots (yuck!) on Wednesday. I also now have something that I think might be skin mets? on my sternum (where I had radiation) and am going to show him that and see what he thinks. The scans didn't seem to mention anything like that and I don't even know if something like that would show on a scan. I've got my fingers crossed that it's not cancer on my sternum skin, but the way everything has been going downhill for me this fall, it wouldn't surprise me. All my general joint and muscle aches and pains seem to light up the bone scan machine, just as the cancer does, so it all looks even worse than it is, from what I could gather. The radiologist did note that some of what they saw was "likely benign", thank goodness. Anyway, this has all brought me down mood wise and I have just been all around bummed for the last couple/few months, in spite of the SAM-e I take and my happy light. I'm hoping that with spring now in sight, I can at least throw off some of this and focus on the really serious progression stuff. I'm not at all looking forward to a change in drugs, but it may well be in the cards, especially re the liver progression.
I just want to say, Shana, that I have been following your posts and have felt so badly for you with all that you've gone though these last few months too with your neck issues, etc. I can't believe how well you face and deal with all that comes your way. I'm just so glad that you are improving now and had a relatively nice Christmas with your family. I want to thank you too for remembering me and commenting on my stuff, when I have been so "absent" lately in more ways than one. I'm just finishing up some tea here, and am going to go out for a walk next. It still helps me feel better both physically and mentally to do that. I hope you have a really Happy New Year!!!

@threetree Hey sweet girl. First no need to feel badly about not posting. If anyone knows about being down and not posting for long amounts of time it is definitely me. I’ve gone weeks missing in action and not even getting on and reading here. I’ve been so isolating during those days.I was like that during the summer & fall. I totally am like you regarding weather changes. It’s a lot due to osteoarthritis, and the effect of barometric weather changes flaring it up along with the Mets. I learned years ago how barometric weather changes can cause so much regarding any kind of inflammation in the body. Years ago when my oldest daughter had very life threatening asthma when she he was was in kindergarten and before, she was constantly in the hospital for days at a time several times a year, my Pediatrition ruled out allergies and said it was a systemic intrinsic asthma that was greatly triggered by weather changes in the spring late summer FALL. ALSO CERTAIN MOLDS IN THE AIR DURING THOSE BARIMETRIC WEATHER SYSTEMS WOULD LAND HER IN THE HOSPITAL ALL DURING HER CHILDHOOD. THEY WERE TOUGH YEARS ON HER ACADEMICALLY BECAUSE SHE HAD DYSLEXIA LEARNING DISABILITY, AND DUE TO HER HEALTH AND LEARNING DISABILITY, OUR SCHOOL CHILD STUDY TEAM. GAVE TWO CLASSIFICATIONS “CHRONICALLY ILL, AND “PERCEPTUALLY IMPAIRED “ (DYSLEXIA) THOSE TWO CONDITIONS GAVE CLASSIFICATION AS “MULTIPLY HANDICAPPED” WHICH OF COURSE WAS IN IN HER “IEP” WRITTEN BY THE CHILDY STUDY TEAM INCLUDING TH SCHOOL NURS AND PSUCHOLOGIST. HER IEP (INDIVIDUAL EDUCATION PROGRAM) CALLED FOR SPECIAL EDUCATION PROGRAM IN ANOTHER SCHOOL CLOSE BY. AND SHE DID THIS ALL THRU ELEMENTARY SCHOOL. SHE EVENTUALLY GRADUATED 8TH GRADE MAINSTREAMED OUT OF SPECIAL ED AND WENT TO A TECHNICAL SCHOOL WHERE SHE EXCELLED. SHE WAS IN HORTICULUTER COURSE AND WAS SO ARTISTIC WITH MAKING THINGS FOR FLORISTS WEDDINGS & PROMS, AND EVEN GRAVE BLAKETS. SHE WAS CHOSEN TO REPRESENT HER SCHOOL IN A COMPETITION FUTURE FARMERS OF AMERICA AND WON FIRST PLACE FOR HER SCHOOL. IN THIS TECHNICAL SCHOOL SHE WAS NO LONGER IN SPECIAL ED BUT WAS MAINSTREAMED IN A REGULAR HIGH SCHOOL CLASS, THATWAS SUCH A NICE HIGH SCHOOL EXPERIENCE FOR HER. HER LEARNING DISABILITIES AND HEALTH HAD RESOLVED. I DON’T KNOW IF YOU HAVE EVER WATCHED THE “CAKE BOSS” REALITY SHOW ON TV. BUT BUDDY THE OWNER OF THE BAKERY ON THIS REALITY SHOW ABOUT BEAUTIFULLY DESIGNED CAKES IN HIS BAKERY, HE ALSO WENT TO THE TECHNICAL HIGHSCHOOL WITH HER. HE WAS IN A BAKING COURSE AND ALL THE KIDS WERE TOGETHER IN OTHER CLASSES AND I LOOK AT HIM ON THAT SHOW TODAY AND REMEMBER THESE KIDS ALL GRADUATING TOGETHER . AFTWARDS SHE DECIDED TO GO INTO COSMETOLOGY AND IS NOW TEACHING HAIR DESIGN AND COLOR TO STUDENTS IN A MAJOR SPA DOWN HERE AT THE JERSEY SHORE. SHE WAS EXCELLING WITH HER CLIENTS EARLY ON AND THE SPA SENT HER TO FRANCE FOR A WEEK OF INSTRUCTIONAL EDUCTION BY SOME OF THE TOP DESIGNERS IN HER INDUSTRY. SHE’S KEPT UP WITH THE LATEST EDUCATION WHERE THEY SENT HER TO CALIFORNIA, AND NYC ALSO AND SHE IS NOW THE LEAD HAIR DESIGNER AND COLORCORRECTIST AND TEACHING THERE AT THE SPA. SHE HAS BEEN THERE FOR ALMOST 20 YEARS AND HAS MANY LAWYERS , DRS., AND JUDGES AND OTHER CLIENTS WHO HAVE SENT THIER CHILDREN TO HER AS THEY’VE GROWN UP GOING TO HER AT THIS HIGH END SPA. IT MAKES ME FEEL GOOD THAT SHE HAS BECOME SO SUCCESSFUL IN HER TRADE AFTER ALL THE SETBACKS SHE FACED AS A CHILD.SHE’S NOT ONLY ARTISTIC BUT TOUGH. SO EVEN THOUGH WE HAD OUR CHRISTMAS DRAMA I STILL HAVE TO SAY HOW PROUD I AM OF HER AND MY YOUNGEST DAUGHTER ALSO.
Well @threetree @mara51506 @cookie54 @irishlove @intolight @chicagoan @goldensrbest @eleanora @sf-cakes @micmel …I think I need to stop and rest tonight. It was a long day at the Hospital for ONC, Labs Fasoldex & XGeva injections and the trip home. I’m going upstairs to get comfy in bed and light a candle for all my ladies tonight. Good night all.🩵🥰

@shanagirl - Thanks so much for sharing that story about your daughter. It's both inspirational and motivational. Good for her! We can overcome a lot of these difficulties in life for sure, and that's a blessing indeed. Sleep well, after your day at the hospital. My day is Wednesday.

merry Christmas ladies. I hope everyone had a great time with the ones you love. Or a quiet calm day to relax and think of happy memories. I had a blast with my family. Gabbie is amazing. Only two more chemos left. I’m so happy. It’s been since October she’s been battling 2024. I just want her to be able to put this behind her. I’m thinking if you all. Brothers being safe, progressions. People getting the flu. Just in general overall wellness. I care deeply. It’s been a rough year. I hope for us all that new year will be filled with happiness and peace for everyone. Love to all.
