Badger: Glad to hear your sinus lift wasn't too bad. I had such a bad experience with my first implant that I made the decision not to proceed with another one. Although, I do miss having a good bite on that side but I've gotten used to it.

Ruth: That forecast is numbing to read. I can't imagine what it would feel like. Have a great time and warmer weather in Arizona.

TT: We are also in line for the same storm. I'm very nervous about the snow/sleet/freezing rain and something happened to our electricity.

Walked yesterday and today. Plus went to the grocery store in anticipation of the storm.

I hope that storm won't be as bad as they are predicting, Wonderland & TT.

I bet we are colder than Siberia here! Amazingly horrible! I went to HIT this morning & will go back to Dance2fit & Yoga tonight. Tomorrow will be devoted to finishing up things around here so I can flee to Arizona on Saturday!!

Agree, I’d rather have a snow storm than an ice storm. That said, we’ve had five inches of fluffy snow the past couple days. The wind has really picked up and the snow is blowing & drifting. DH is even skipping his usual Thurs PM poker game cuz he doesn’t want to risk the roads at night.

Got to the gym yesterday then stocked up on groceries. Worked until 5 this aft and only went out for the mail. That was enough! Tomorrow is supposed to be crazy cold. Ruth, you picked a great time to head out for warmer climes!

Ruth, Siberia seems to hve crashed down here into NW Wisconsin! Staying indoors until this cold passes which it looks like it might be Sunday!

I got a text from the airlines to keep checking the schedules because flights might be delayed or canceled due to the extreme cold! Argh!!!!

Well, the temperature is supposed to be 'up' to -14 tomorrow, so maybe we'll be okay....

Ruth: OMG. I can't imagine how friggin' cold it is.

I'm very nervous about the snow/sleet/mainly ice storm that starts here tomorrow. I live in the area that may get more than 1/2 inches of freaking ice. Bought a 40 pound bag of salt today. I don't plan to go out at all so hoping I don't need to use it. May need it more next week when the sun will be out but the temperatures will be highs in the 20s or 30s and lows in the teens or single digits.

And to think I comfortably walked outside today in only my long sleeve tee shirt.

Hi fellow exercisers. It has been nice to catch up with the posts. You guys are so good at keeping up with movement and exercise. Even in this deadly cold spell. I live in Indiana where it is one degree right now and I am cold in the house with heat and an electric lap blanket. We are lucky here because we do not have ice in the forecast. Hang in there Wonderland. I worry for those who are in the path of getting ice and risk losing power and dealing with dangerous road conditions. Ruth I don’t know how you handle such cold temperatures like you just posted. Does your home stay warm? Our heater just keeps running in this cold. This is unusually cold for us.

I like to read how this group finds ways to get your exercise in spite of the weather. You always motivate me to keep moving. I think it’s even more important to move in such cold weather because it’s easy to just sit on the sofa for hours, reading, and not get up and move around. But I find if I get up and walk around the house, or do an exercise video, or ride my exercise bike I really feel better. It helps break up the long days when it is too cold to go outside. I am a walker and I get cranky when I can’t get outside to walk. But it helps to read what you guys do to compensate and it really helps.

Ruth, I hope you make it out of North Dakota and get to Arizona. I was there a week ago to visit my girlfriend. It was wonderful. She’s north of Phoenix and the weather was so nice. I’ve never been to Arizona before so I was beyond excited to take a walk and see the cactus. I had no idea those larger cacti can be 200 years old. It was just stunning to see such a different landscape.

    stay safe and warm everyone

Great to hear from you, coffeelattte!! Winter is definitely a harder time to keep in shape. Reading under a blanket (and doing nothing else) is very tempting when the weather is rotten. It gets to be a mental game. As far as the house being warm; luckily we don't have to use the air conditioner in the summer very much because we make up for it in the heating bills! Hopefully I will be walking in short sleeves by the end of tomorrow! I got 10,000 steps just getting organized today.

Thinking of all the people in the ice storm warnings. Very scary!

    Yeah Ruth, you made it!

SE Virginia is 3 inches of snow and 1.2 inches of ice…still have power, but DH and I spent much of yesterday getting the kerosene heater running for the first time is 5+ years, we also have an alcohol stove…but need those items primed to use (not waiting to lose the heat before finding/filling the heater)…and if we don't need to use them that will be fine by me.

School is closed on Monday, but on for Tuesday…if conditions are too difficult it might be via zoom classes, but hopefully the above freezing temps tomorrow will clear enough of the "wintry mix" to make it okay.

Walking circles in the house, living room, kitchen, dining room, center hallway…very exciting! TT

Ruth, so glad you made it to Arizona. Oh how I wish I was still there! We got 10 inches of snow today and around 10°. You picked a very good time to get out of the north. That fruit tree in your photo is beautiful.

Trmtab, I really get what you mean about the joy of walking circles in the house. I’ve been doing it from my living room to my front room and then the kitchen and back. It takes a lot of laps just to get 3000 steps. At least it feels good to move around. It is too cold to go outside. Normally, when I sit in our front room and look out the window, I can enjoy watching the dog walkers as they go by. In the last two days, I have only seen one person walking her dog. And they were going at a very fast clip. It’s just too cold for their little paws I would think.

I did try an exercise session on YouTube and it felt good. I’m learning you really have to be creative to get some fitness in with the nasty weather. Spring is going to feel really good this year.

Today we went up to Fountain Hills, walked around there & ate outside on a patio (sorry to rub it in). I will take another walk before the day is done. So lovely to be outside!

    Just a quick Hello.

Good to see you again Coffeelatte! And yes, you do have to become creative to get exercise during bad weather.

M0mmy: Can't imagine how that would feel!

TT: I've been meaning to walk circles but instead I've been reading and watching TV.

Ruth: You and dh deserve a warm break!

We were lucky with the storm. We had a little snow and mostly sleet and probably some rain. A mixture of everything. Best of all, we didn't lose electricity. When I watch the news and see how much destruction occurred I feel very fortunate. Snow is in the forecast this weekend.

Oh Ruth, I love that fountain in the lake!

School is closed today, but the gym is open - that shows priorities!

I got 2.5 miles of walking circles in the house yesterday😁

Went walking in a Riparian Preserve & ate delicious Mexican food on a patio. It's going to be seriously hard to go home!

Hey coffeelatte! Good to hear from you. I just got a smart phone so will may try some online exercises. Our home office where the PC lives is too small but there’s room in the LR if I move the coffee table. I have a treadmill at home if all else fails.

Ruth, we shivering ppl are living vicariously through you in AZ. We got up to double digits (teens) today. Heat wave LOL. M0mmyof3 (in NW WI) and I (in SW WI) endured the -50 wind chills last week. No thank you!

Glad to hear no one lost power.

I get my stitches out Thurs. Hopefully will be cleared to resume strength training.

Ruth: You will not only miss your friends but also the warm weather. Soak it up while you can.

TT: Looks like your school may also be closed some days next week. It's coming!

Badger: Like I told M0mmy, can cannot imagine what -50 wind chills feels like. Good luck tomorrow and I hope you heal nicely so you're right on tract for your implant.

I walked in the house yesterday and today. I started chemo during the month of January many years ago. I did the same thing as I did yesterday and today. I didn't want to walk outside so I would set my oven timer and walk around the house. Sometimes it was a short walk sometimes longer. It made me feel normal as up to that point I had been walking or going to exercise classes for 30 years.

Looks like snow this weekend with several inches predicted.

I took a long walk this morning. We had lunch with some old friends who have relocated in Arizona & went to the movie 'Song Sung Blue' which was excellent!

Ruth: The movie previews look really good.

m0mmy: Thank goodness you are getting some warmth compared to what you had.

Went to the grocery store today to stock up for the upcoming storm that arrives Saturday. It might even be blizzard conditions in parts of NC. I've read several different predictions for where I live so I'll just have to wait until Saturday to see what happens.

We still have so much ice. There is a layer of 1.5 inches of ice at the bottom of our driveway. Dh has been trying to clear off as much as he can before the storm this weekend. The husband of a friend of mine fell in his driveway from the ice yesterday and broke his femur. She said he crushed it. Having surgery today. An old not-in-good health dog of a friend of mine also slipped on the ice in their driveway yesterday. He fell and fractured his femur. Unfortunately the vet said there was nothing that could be done to save the dog so they had to make that sad decision. All of this has me super vigilant during the few times I've been outside.

I again walked in the house. Getting kinda used to it.

Be careful on the ice. It is so dangerous!! After our big ice storm, 4 people ended up at our little hospital with broken hips on just one day!!

Another beautiful Arizona day. I took two long walks, sat outside and read & went & listened to a band at an outdoor patio bar. One more day of fun in the sun before we return to Siberia....I mean North Dakota.

Be super careful on the ice! If you have to go out, walk like a penguin. We can get “black ice” on the roads where you can’t see the ice until you’re skidding. Very dangerous.

Edit to add: sad to hear of broken bones from slip & fall - human and canine.

Got stitches out today & cleared for exercise. Hit the gym this afternoon. 45 mins treadmill plus some light free weights.

I have to rant here, where y’all will understand. Got a notice from my health clinic (not my doc) that, according to their records, I’m overdue for my mammogram. Good Lord, people, I had a bilateral mastectomy 15 years ago. Got no mammies to gram. Thinking how I will respond to them. Update YOUR records, you idiots. 😡
