Anyone have experience with SERDs or off-label use of weight loss drugs instead of AIs?
I've been on letrozole almost a month and, while I can pretty much deal with the hot flashes, as a primary caregiver I'm very concerned about the joint pain preventing me from assisting my mom. I've already experienced pain in my right elbow and shoulder (the C side) when helping her get to her feet; feels like the joint's going to snap.😥 Today I'm supposed to be painting closet doors but my hip's screaming so much that I'm just hobbling from one seat to the other. I'll get on my vibrating plate, hope that will help…
I was researching alternatives to letrozole and its kind (aromatase inhibitors [AI]) and found good info on SERDs - selective estrogen receptor degraders that prevent estrogen from attaching to tumors which causes the cell to weaken and die.
Has anyone switched to a SERD from an AI? If so, how are your side effect symptoms? I'm also looking up weight-loss drugs impacting cancer. If anyone has experience of SERDs or can point me to additional research on

I hate the AIs and the side effects which I think the medical profession under plays the importance to a patient's well-being. I'm really interested in seeing if anyone responds to your question on SERD or any real alternatives.
I'm also interested in hearing if the vibrating plate helps. I've looked at them before but have been hesitant to buy one.
I wish you patience, strength and understanding with finding help with your pain and and with getting those closet doors painted.

There is a SERD for early stage breast cancer (giredestrant) which is in the clinical trial stage. So far it seems to be better at preventing recurrence in early stage high risk patients than AIs or tamoxifen. Currently the only SERDs approved by the FDA are for locally advanced or metastatic patients who no longer respond to AIs. Hopefully it will be an option someday.

Thank you; the same to you.
Since the weather has been up and down and I've been indulging in wheat - two drivers of my joint pain - I need to give the letrozole a fair try. Next month I'll have the opportunity to get my labs done through a local wellness program - a month before getting the labs that the oncologist will see. I'm anxious to see if letrozole has driven up my cholesterol. I'm also watching BP, weight, and glucose besides the joint pain severity/frequency.
Searching for alternatives, I did make an inquiry into the TRIM-EBC clinical trial; it will assess the ability of a weight loss drug to reduce/prevent reoccurrance in overweight/obese patients. It will require monthly visits to the facility in Texas; as much as I'd like to think that's doable, …
I've been using the vibrating plate for several months, just in the past two months have been using it 5 days a week. I do believe it helped with my neuropathy and glucose and it usually makes my hip feel better.

I saw that, looks like FDA won't approve that use until December this year…
