I'm very curious about all the Illinois ladies who are making this breast cancer journey or who have finished it. Where are you located? What's your diagnosis? Where are you in your treatment plan? How's it going for you?

I thought we might be surprised to find somebody right in our own back yard that could use some encouragement or company.

I'll start us out. I live in Bloomington. I was diagnosed in Nov. 2006 with IDC cancer, 1.4 cm. er-, pr+, her2-. Stage 1 but that horrid Grade 3. Had an excisional biopsy that came back without clear margins. Went to Peoria to an excellent breast surgeon. Had a lumpectomy with sentinel node biopsy. Nodes and margins were both clear. Now I'm headed for my first CMF chemo on Jan. 26th. I'm very nervous about the chemo, which I dread more than any other part of the journey, I think.

Hop on here and tell us about yourself. There may be some of us that are even close enough we could meet for an outing some time.

Do we spread loving kindness? There are many who say that this is our ultimate goal on this planet--to spread loving kindness to our fellow human beings. And when we are able to accomplish this goal, we find that our lives are transformed in the process. We're no longer so strongly focused on things and negative thoughts and feelings, but we've become truly happy, content human beings who love life and living.

Like most people, Aunt Hattie Mae explained, I saw my mistakes as failures--setbacks and defeats to disappoint, depress, or demoralize me. What they really are, however, are opportunities. Because it is from our mistakes that we learn the lessons we need to develop and grow. . . . Mistakes aren't just our teachers; they're also our motivators. They cause us to reexamine our choices, revise our plans, and, in some cases, reconsider the way we live our lives. And change them for the better. . . . The person who makes no mistakes doesn't usually make anything. They have achieved success
who have lived well,

The best remedy for those who are afraid, lonely, or unhappy is to go outside, somewhere where they can be quiet, alone with the heavens, nature, and God.Because only then does one feel that all is as it should be and that God wishes to see people happy, amidst the simple beauty of nature. Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate.
Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.
It is our Light, not our Darkness, that most frightens us.
We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented,
fabulous? Actually, who are you NOT to be?...
You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world.
There is nothing enlightening about shrinking so that other
people won't feel unsure around you.
We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us.
It is not just in some of us; it is in everyone.
As we let our own Light shine, we unconsciously give
other people permission to do the same.
As we are liberated from our own fear,
our presence automatically liberates others.

In examining our own lives, we might be able to spot the heavy weight of yesterday's deeds that we persist in carrying around with us. We might be carrying bitterness and resentment because we may have felt betrayed by a friend. We might be carrying anger and a feeling of injustice because we lost out on something we really wanted while someone else got it. We might be carrying hurt feelings because someone we liked criticized us. But continuing to carry harsh and negative feelings from the past can be like picking up a pebble in your shoe while you are out walking. You can stop and remove the pebble, or you can continue to walk and let the pebble irritate your foot and cause pain. The choice is yours. You can release your anger and hurt feelings, just as you can remove the pebble from your shoe. -John Marks Templeton

We will never understand freedom as long as we see it as a referent "to" or "from" something. Freedom is a state of mind and a state of being. It occurs when we know that we are a unique creation, that we have our own connections with the life-force, and that we have full and complete responsibility for what we do with that gift. The gift of freedom is the gift to make mistakes, learn from them, and get up and try again. - Anne Wilson Schaef
