    Hi everyone,

Just wanted to pop in and say HI!  Sorry I've been kind of scarce lately.  I feel guilty, but I've been trying to sneak in here and read to try and keep up with everyone's latest news.  I just haven't been posting much.  I fear that I'm not much help to the newly dx'd CMFers, because I didn't have CMF; I'm only an honorary CMF'er.  Thanks for taking me under your wing when I first found bc.org!!  The support of all you ladies has meant so much to me.  This is a wonderful group of women!!

Thanks for all the HAPPY BIRTHDAY WISHES!!  I had a great birthday celebration, and now I will be heading to bed.  I'll try to pop in more often.

    Hugs

    Harley

P.S.  It was great talking to you, Carol!  Your support has meant so much to me, really!!!

Harley ... you rock !  Thanks for the call, and I'm so glad your birthday was most enjoyable ... Cheers gal !!!!

Colleen, hard to segway from the hype of a birthday to reading about your mom.   Please know that your in my thoughts through the tough times.   Sometimes enough is enough ... never have been able to understand the fairness of what life throws at us at times.

     Hugs my friend, Carol

    Colleen,

Gee, I was so tired last night, I didn't read any of the posts before I posted.

I'm sorry to hear about your Mom!   I'm keeping her and your family in my prayers.

Colleen - I am also sorry to hear about your Mom - you are all in my prayers.  Hope she is doing better.

Nothing new here - We had two amazing sunny days and now back to cooler fog.

Happy Earth Day.  My sons scout troop will be picking up "trash" at the beach today  - if we even find any.  The beaches really are pretty clean these days (thank goodness).

Oh Colleen, I am so sorry to hear this;  however, my MIL lived with it for 8 years after diagnosis and hers was really really bad.  She had a pretty good quality of life as well.  I willl keep your mom in my prayers.  My MIL did not die either from the heart failure, she died from a very bad hip fracture that was irreparable.  I too, hope your mom will be able to cope with this as well as possible and have a good quality of life.

How are you holdling up?  Everyone else?  Thinking of you all and sending love.

    xoxo

Hello All - Thank you all so much for all your good wishes and prayers for my mom.  I was able to see her yesterday and she is doing ok.  She still has fluid around the heart and lungs and they are trying to get rid of it through meds.  But right now even for her to get to the bathroom takes a lot out of her.  The drs. said maybe she would be released on Friday, but no guarantee.  As far as me I am doing ok.  Disappointed that she will not be able to come home with me on Sunday.  I live to far for her to make the trip and be away from her drs.  I am just hoping she gets stronger and then maybe she will come.  My kids are really disappointed also, but we will just have to wait and see.  I am glad to see everyone is doing pretty well.  I will see the BS next Wed. it is amazing that it has been six months since my mast.  I am also going to Albany for a class trip with my son's 5th grade class on Tuesday.  Wait what was I thinking!!!! LOL.  He really wanted me to be one of the chaperone's and I figured in a few more years, he will not want me going with them, so I said yes!!!!  Well I wish everyone well and I will check back soon,

    Love,

    Colleen

Rita - IDK!  She posted that day something like "What is CMF?" on another board, so I replied and told her I'd bump our thread for her.  Maybe she got her answer!

Colleen - enjoy the field trip!  My daughter is in 6th grade, so I so understand that the day is coming when she will not want me at the school.  I try to volunteer as much as possible.  It is good to hear that your mom is doing ok.  Have any of you read "The Middle Place" by Kelly €Corrigan?  It is a great book - a 30 something mom of 2 gets BC and then is dealing with health issues of father.  I think a lot of us can relate to that!

Hope you are all having a good weekend.  Spring feels so good, even if I am really SICK of having cancer and my weekly schedule.  #16 of 24 was yesterday.  I felt pretty off last night, but with the suns help I am about a 75 today.

Susan,  It's amazing how the sun seems to give us an uplift, isn't it?  Just think,  you are 2/3 of the way done.  I know how sick you are of all of this.  How well I remember that feeling, but you are rounding that corner now and are on the homestretch!

I'm also glad to get your response about lemonjello.  I thought I was losing it!  I couldn't find her post and didn't want to ignore her!  LOL  You're such a sweetie to bump the thread up for her.

I hope you do well after this treatment.  Hang in there!

Oh Lisa, I wish I could have joined you!  What a lovely beach!  Do you have quite a few gals in your group?  A friend and I are trying to get a lunch bunch or dinner bunch started in our town.  The Illinois gals do this once a month but it's usually in Chicago which is too far for me to get there regularly so we're attempting to organize a local group.  So far we haven't been too successful but w'ere going to keep trying!

Aprilgirl, I am reading The Middle Place for the second time. The first time was last year before I was diagnosed.  Now that I can "relate" I am re-reading it.  I love her spirit and sense of humor.  Highly recommend!

Hey All - I had such a wonderful weekend.  My mother was released from the hospital on Friday early evening.  And on Sat. I went to Philly with my sister and my goddaughter (Niece).  We walked around and had a nice lunch.  Sat. night a lot of my female family went to my other niece's house for girls night out.  It was in honor of me which was so nice.  We had a nice dinner and a few drinks.  (Maybe two many) LOL!!!  Around 11:00 we were singing and just having a great time when the doorbell rang.  Two South Jersey policemen were there, they received a noise complaint.  I guess one of her neighbors did not like our singing.  My sister said to them that she was sorry, but we were having a cancer survivor party.  The policemen then said he was sorry to us and left.  So we toned it down a little bit and enjoyed the rest of the night.  If you can believe it my mother stayed at the party until midnight.  She looks pretty good and she is back at my sisters house.  She will have a nurse come in a few times a week to check things out for her, but right now all is well.  My mother said in her 87 years she has never been at a party where the police were called.  But it was FUN!!!  I hope everyone else had a great weekend.  The weather in NY & NJ was in the 80's.

I am half way thru CMF and my hair thinned out quite a bit, but i did not lose it all!!  i either wear a cap or go without.  i get a shot at the time of my chemo, so don't have nauseau.  she should talk to her doctor about getting more for nauseau, she should not have to suffer.  Good luck to her!

    Colleen,

As a Philly gal, I love your story of the Jersey cops breaking up your party. Sometimes I think Jersey cops don't have enough to do.  But it gives you a great story.  Hope your mom continues to improve.

    Hugs to all the CMFers

Except for the train ride home, which was a disaster, the weekend was great!!  I saw a gorgeous Harley there and was sorry I did not have a camera to take a photo and send it to you.

    Love to all

Hey Harley, I sure wish you lived closer.  I need a facebook pro to help me with all these invitations and other things that I get.  I never did find the Easter eggs on Easter and can't seem to get around the site.  I've learned how to find my friends and send basic messages but the rest is foreign jargon!  You seem to have it all together!  Is there any hope for me or do I fall under the category that you can't teach an old dog new tricks?  LOL

    Rita,

You are too funny!  You can learn about Facebook.  When I first started, people were throwing beads at me!  I didn't know what to do.  So if I can learn, I know you can, too!   I think it depends on how many of these 'requests' you have been getting.  I just click on them and facebook kind of leads me through them.

I never DID get all those Easter eggs, though.  One application had eggs that would hatch, and mine hatched into Bart Simpson!

    Hugs

Hi ladies, good to see you Harley!

I can't do facebook either, I give up.  It just gives me yet one more thing to check, and I could spend all day on it, if I gave into it.  I'm a dinosaur, I admit it.

Mandy, what a god awful train ride you had!  And I thought Amtrak was supposed to be better....

Hi Rita!  Hey local arimidex lady, do your hands and feet swell on this stuff in this heat we are having?  Mine are, I'm figuring it's one of those lovely little SEs of this stuff.

Colleen, your party sounds just wonderful...love that the cops came.  And that your mom did too!

    Everyone enjoy this lovely day.

Annie.....yep, my hands and feet do swell.  In fact I still can't wear the rings that once fit my now fat little fingers!  I guess I should go get them resized if I want to wear them any during the next 3 years.  My feet swell off and on.  If I'm on them alot or if it's really warm, they get puffy but at least they are not hurting anymore so that's an improvement.  I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one that finds Facebook a bit foreign.  I keep trying.  The funny thing is that I have several ex-students that have found me and asked to be friends, ranging from age 21 to 40 and they all have it figured out!  LOL  Hope all is going well there!

Hey Rita! Thank you so much.  I figured it was combo of the heat and the arimidex and nowadays, I like to follow your two week rule, which is a great one.  I can't wear my rings at all, not even my big old diamond that hubby got me for having my kid and I sure miss it.  I also miss my wedding ring, 50.00, but I love it.  I've put em around my neck.  Did your onc give you a diuretic, or just say "yep, goes with the program" formula, like mine does?

They do hurt in the AMs, but not too much once you are up and walking...little fat pillow feet :).

Facebook and I are hopeless.  People keep finding me on it and sending me lovely things, and I want to respond, but get lost.  Everyone that did, I love you, and I'm not ignoring you!  Just technologically impaired!

Susie Q: My hair quit shedding about the half way mark...I mean, it still did, but on a minor scale.  Hey, you are HALF WAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THAT RATES A WAAAAAAA HOOOOOOOOO!

    love you all

    annie

Everyone enjoy this beautiful day!! Burgers on the deck for us and watching the cherry tree blossom.

Oh, news!  My daughter just got inducted into the National History Honor Society!  We went as p roxies for her, she had a frat formal to attend.  My DH stood up and took the oath on her behalf, we all had a good laugh!

Hey everyone....I haven't been on for a bit.  there is so much going on around here.  I'm just about 1/3 thru rads.  It is going fine.  Starting to get a bit tired again but really no complaints.

My daughter has just finished up with her physical therapy from her broken wrist.  She is happy about that.  Last year she had bronchitis and when the ped. was watching her cough she told me to come cack in to get her back checked out cuz one of her hip looked like it went a little further than the other.  She went for a physical and we were told to go to an orthoped.  Well...it was but on the back burner because of all I was going thru.  Started to thimnk about it again and then she broke her wrist...back burner again.  Here we go...she has a really bad case of scoliosis.  She grew about 5 inches in one year and put on about 23 pounds and it really did a number on her.  She is 13 and has been told she has to wear a brace for 19 hours a day to contol the spine from getting worse.  to top it off...she has to go for 3 MRI's because he want to rule out intraspinal vascluar lesion.  She has a birth mark on the base of her spine that she was born with.  He doesn't want to take any chances that it could be more than that..  Funny thing is that I have a birthmark in the same place.  This is going to be a really difficult time for her and my heart is breaking for her.  I'm taking this worse than all that has gone on with me.

Other than that...it has been a lot of baseball and lacrosse.

Hope all is well with everyone!

Scarp: What a bummer for your daughter.  I will tell you what I always say...get second and even third opinions.  My cousin had severe scoliosis at age 12-13.....she is fine now. Will send you an email later about her.

To everyone, hope all is well.

Annie, my onc says that it goes with the program.  He said that he has seen it reversed in patients when done with the Arimidex.  I've debated about getting my rings resized since they may be too large if my fingers return to normal in three years but I miss not being able to wear them.  There are so many other worse side effects we could have from these pills that I hate to whine about fat fingers and puffy feet!  LOL

Oh scarp, I'm so sorry that you daughter has such an ordeal ahead of her.  Hugs to both of you!  Wouldn't it be so much better if we as parents could shield our kids from things like this or change places with them.  Hang in there!  Please keep us informed and come back more often.  We've missed you!

    How are you doing, samiam?

Lisa, it sounds like you have a good group.  I sincerely hope that we can work up to that number!

Now that American Idol is over I'm heading back to the recliner.  I think all 5 contestants did well tonight but Adam is still my pick.  He can sing anything!!!
