    Hey Buds ~

Christine - good to see you're still around!  We probably won't hear from you again until the first of the year if it's this busy already!

Junie & Sam - are you guys back yet from Vegas?  Tell us all about the millions you won so I can write down the BIG PARTY date on my calendar Smile

Dottie - Congrats on the 39th anniversary!  You deserve a bottle of exquisite wine for that!

Janis - how is Avery?  How are you?  Any dates lately?

Think I'll actually get out of the office today at lunchtime.  I had quit going out at lunch, as it seems I always ended up spending $$

    Cheers,

    Donna

We're back from Vegas!!!  Enjoyed seeing Junie and her bunch again.  Hopefully she will tell you all about her adventure at a little dumpy casino.  She actually had a cup with some quarters in it that she was using to beg for some money (I actually added a few quarters to the cup for the drunk)

She got me to sit down again at a 3 card poker table - I am not good at that game and lost $100 in no time flat.  I headed for a black jack table where I am so much luckier at - her hubby joined me.

Christine - we did as you said and we each put $5 on 36 Red - LOOSER!!

I did have some very good luck Sat on the strip.  I put $100 in a $1 Wheel of Fortune machine and on the first spin hit the Wheel of Fortune Spin.  I hit the button and won $1,000!!!  Wow, was I shocked.  I hit cash out immediately.  But then I remembered that my mother always told me never to leave a machine on a win like that so I stuck in $10 more and on the second spin hit the wheel spin again - this time it stopped on the $100.  I cashed out again - a very happy person.  All in all I came home with $1184 more than I took.  Hubby also came back with $400 more than he took.  Merry Christmas to ME!!

They do make a good bloody mary there - quite spicey.  I don't think I have ever drank so many different things at one sitting.  Went from bloody mary's to beer to kaluha and cream to Malibu Coconut Rum with pineapple juice to ??? can't remember (must have killed to many brain cells)

Junie is so much fun - would love to have a get together next year in Arkansas where the bar is always open!!!!or KC would be a good gambling place to meet.

Hope everyone has a happy turkey day.

Laffin' here--was gonna just say "What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas"...but Sam's ref to the dumpy little casino got me laughing out loud!    Had more fun there--laughed so hard my stomach hurt for two days and somehow got really trashed!   My hubby left us and went back to our hotel to take a nap--I called him 4 hours later and told him we were still there and we were all drunk!  He came back and gambled with us there for awhile.   Good news is, other than drinks, I only lost $40 playing there.   There was a story the next day about strangers tossing quarters into a cup, but that is just some story I heard!!!   Later that night, I ended up playing the infamous 3-card poker by myself at our hotel.   Not sure where everyone else was.........No big hands, but played for a long time.   I ended up passing out the beads I'd gotten from the dumpy casino to the table players.

No big winners in our group.   Sam, it was great to see you again--glad you had some luck!   We had a great time, until we hit the secuity line at McCarren--they've got to get that mess straightened out before I'll go through that line again!

To add insult to injury--not winning...came home to a malfunctioning hot water heater!   Another $150 down the drain, but now have hot water!

My luck hasn't changed.   Went out for dinner tonight and played keno in the bar.   Only won back $4 out of my $10--you'd think I would learn something!!!

Sigh!!!!  Had a great time--will start saving up for the next time!

Big hugggsssssss to all.  Bar in Arkansas is open!!!

    Hey Buds~

Sam & Junie sounds like you had a great time in Vegas.  Sure wish I could have joined you.  Maybe next time...

Sam - you came home with almost $1200 more than you left with?  WOW!    When can I expect my party invitation? Cool

BF is in Dallas, and will be back early evening, so I'm starting my "doesn't have company very often" house cleaning chore since I'll be hosting Thanksgiving this year.

Went to the liqua sto earlier in the week and stocked up on wine.  Hope there's still some left come Thurs....

I have Mon & Tues off, trying to use up vaca time so I don't lose it.  God forbid.

Hope everyone has a great weekend.  It's gorgeous here today, sunny and high of around 72.

    Cheers,

    Donna

Okay, I just had to post and say that "the holiday's" aren't too stressful - yet! I have a different dept. manager this year who is somewhat laid back and that is a definite plus in my opinion. Retail still sucks (shoppers, please be nice and understanding of us slugs!) but since this is (hopefully?) my last 'season' here I'm dealing with it quite well and wine sure does help with that!

Speaking of which, I can highly recommend Rutherford Hill (Napa) Cabernet. I'm thoroughly enjoying their 2001 vintage and it is excellent! It was a gift from a vendor so I have no idea of the retail cost but it is nice, I'd say maybe $30? Definitely not a chugging wine!  :)

Baby Girl Avery is great! I'm going to have 'holiday' pictures taken and when I get them back I'll post some. Cheers to all!

...all of the Arkansas group that went to Vegas ended up with horrible colds/something!   I have felt like total crap for several days.  Even the bar here was closed for a while!    Sam, I hope you guys have felt okay!

Today, first day up and about for any length of time, and when brushing teeth--part of a tooth broke off......GRRRRRRR!!    It doesn't rain on my parade--it pours!!!!

But, I'm ready for tomorrow--have most of the prep work done.  No kids are coming this year, but some friends may come for dinner (kinda hope they don't--more leftovers!)   Turkey, dressing, mashed potatoes, gravy, green-bean casserole, Waldorf Salad, Cranberry Sauce, Rolls, and Pecan Pie...the rolls and pie this year are store bought, but best I could do the way I've been feeling.

Regardless of all my griping, I definitely have a lot to be thankful for this year--too much to list--but at the top of the list are the friends I've made here.   Happy Turkey Day to all--

    Bar is open!!!!!

I was drinking like, a bottle of wine a night - I swear! I was self medicating for lots of reasons. Now, after BC, I have promised myself only 2x per week I can drink wine. It is working for me. I won't give it up. I cannot be perfect. I can only be me and I think moderation can work for me. I was also smoking a half a pack a day. It was taking me away from my family...having to "step out" for a cig, especially if I was having wine. Now I only have one a day - maybe two if I'm drinking wine. I spread them out over the day. Two puffs in the morning two in the eveing and finish it before going to bed. Weird, I know. But it is keeping me sane for now. Eventually I figure I'll just stop. What can I say? I'm not perfect. Not sure I can be!

Rutherford may have a good wine but the making the box is a pain for us in the box plant!

Hope all had a great Thanksgiving!

I get to see all my kids and gradkids in one place for the first time in over 2 years!

Hope everyone had a good turkey day.

Junie - I am sorry to hear you all were sick - no - dh and I did not get any of that crud.  You must have picked it up when you were in that dumpy little casino.

Donna - made it across the border to OK Saturday.  Played a couple hours in an Indian casino near Newkirk, it's only an hour from home.  I lost but hubby came back a winner.

Bar in Arkansas is temporarily closed--bug has bugged out of control--all kinds of infectious stuff been going on.  Visit to dr and three meds later, am starting to feel human.....grrrrr..............

Sam--great pics--DIL is lovely--hey, MIL not so bad, either!  Me--I'm staying out of dumpy little casinos forever more!

Waiting for phone call from KC--granddaughter #8 due any day now.

Too much going on--trying to get cards addressed, wrap presents--some to be opened coming week-end with big get-together with half our kids; others need to get wrapped and in the mail.   Hard to get anything done when only part of me is functioning!

Not making much sense--think the evening meds are kicking in----aahhhhhhh!

Hugggsssssss to all--will let you know when bar is open!!!

That sucks!  Well, if they won't let you drink, maybe you can ask for some of the "happy drugs" and at least sleep for a while.

I'm holding the fat lady  in the alley and down the street!

I've been terrified to have a glass of wine or even a cold beer. I'm so afraid I'll get a hangover that will never go away.  But when my sister comes for a my appointments this week I'm going to have a big fat glass of Red Wine, Mondavi, I tried a taste test in Whistler years ago and each glass I chose as my favorite was a Mondavi. Now I can't afford it all the time but I will buy a bottle this week. Anyone out there no of a good cheap red wine.  Maybe a glass a day won't kill me.

    Pearl,

I don't know if you are a red zinfindel drinker or not, but Dancing Bull (California) makes a really good and cheap (about $10/bottle) red zin.  It gets a "best value" rating by Wine Spectator too.  The Dancing Bull Cabernet is also good.

Chateau St Michelle (Washington) makes a good cab for the money.  Again, under $10 and another "best value".

    Cheers!!

Today Scott, Charlene & I went and saw the neurosurgeon. We looked at the MRI done on Nov 30th compared to the one done last May. There are at least two large spots and a lot of small spots on the newsts MRI that were not seen on the one in May. The spots are cellls that got into the brain and have swelled putting pressure. It is not brain tisse that has gone bad. Because of the number of spots it may not be best to go the Gamma Knife route but rather to go the whole brain radation route and if need to done the road go gamma knife. They did another MRI today with a finer look to see if they can tell what the smaller spots are. At any rate I have a very hard and long road to recovery in front of me.
Most likey I will have to quit working as some fuctions may be limited. it can be a few months to a year before we will know all of the affects.
My goal right now is to maintain as much of a normal life as I can and spend time with family. I fell there is still a lot left for me to do and my time is not yet here.

I ask that you keep my family in your prayers as this will be as hard on them as it will be on me. In some ways harder I think for them. Financially this id going to be very difficult but I trust the good Lord will see us through.

I will know more in the days to come as to how we will proceed with treatment.

Right now I'm going to concentrate on cleaning out my house and making things as simple as possible. I've got a lot of stuff to get rid of  and make room for family to be here if they want to be.

well that's all I know for now

    Love Cy
