    Junie

I just read one of my posts, and it sounds horrible, about the gray hair...  I wish my hair was a nice silver color like yours is, but mine came in white and black underneath, and gray all over...it's all mottled together.   So that is why I colored my hair, but I bet yours looks GREAT!  I think silver hair is very pretty!

    Hi Everyone,

I'm going to keep this short! I've tried to post twice now the first time I got finished typing....pressed submit.....lost the post due to maintenance. WTF? This morning I tried to post...our computers here crashed!! I think I'll just have to have a drink!

Harley- Charlene, hope you guys are feeling a little better today. I had my 2 yr anniv. last month. Harley was I drunk and missed it or did the conversation not come up about your name. Do you ride? If so what do you have? Or just coincidence?

No work tonight - I think I'm having one of those chocolate covered cherry martini's or 3!

    Bottoms up girls!!

    Hi, Lynne,

Er... I ride, but only as a passenger.  We used to have a Harley, but my dh traded it in for a BMW motorcycle.  My screen name was a combination of the biker thing, and a friend of a friend, had bc 17 years...then got bone mets, and she died a year ago, in December.  Her name was HARLEY, so the name stuck.  Partly a bike thing, partly in memory of Harley, who fought bc.

Harley - I am so sorry to hear about your friend! This is such a terrible disease! I am just a passenger also. We have a HD ultra classic tour bike. Everyone tries to talk me into my own bike but I would rather be in back looking around or taking a nap! I hear the BMW bikes are very nice!

    Lynne,

Harley was my boss's friend, and when I worked there as a receptionist, Harley used to come in from time to time to see my boss... she was very nice!  It is just horrible... bc stinks!

I really like the BMW, but...  I think I like the Harley better!  We had an ultra classic also, and I LOVED the armrests!  I, too, can fall asleep sometimes.

There are NO armrests on the BMW, but you can get them and put them on, only they look really robotic, and .... well, they are just ugly!

But, the BMW does have heated seats!  Laughing

I needed that - haven't done that in years! Listening now to CD i bought - Andy Stewart and Gerry O'Beirne. For just a little while, I forgot.

No pain meds today, soooooo think I'll have to have a little drink tonight to help me sleep. I'll have to go back and get that recipe for the chocolate covered cherry martini's.  I love sweet drinks.

Got to see my new "little" mound today, I think it's cute!!!

Junie- we got about 3" of rain Monday.  Hope you stayed high and dry.

Sam--I will be forever mixed up about whether to call it St Paddy's Day or St Titty's Day!   Was it Donna who started that term?   Glad you're feeling up to a drink tonight.   You have one and I'll have a few more for you!!!

Hats off to the "biker broads"!!!  LOL--my only experience with a motorcycle ride--many years ago, ex-husband--he terrified me on my first ride and have refused to ride one ever again.   A couple years ago, in Cozumel,  MX, 5 couples rented 2-seater mo-peds (or whatever, not big motorcycles...) to tour around the island.   The tour included a stop at each beachside bar for a quick drink!   The trip got faster and wilder after each stop!   Then it started to sprinkle, then rain, then pour!   By then, it was no stopping the guys--everyone had to be the fastest, be the first in line--OMG!  Two of the couples crashed their mo-peds on the rain-slick road.   Lots of skinned knees and elbows and lots of damage to their mo-peds.   I was soooo happy to finally get back to the rental shop--NEVER AGAIN!!!

Rain has stopped--today was lovely.  But, we stayed in, knowing that the run-off will continue for another day or so and the low areas will still be having problems.

    Bottoms up!    hugggsssss to all!

Well, a toast to Harley - and to Harley!Laughing

We're supposed to get snow here - again - so I now have to head to NY a day early so that I don't miss my trip. Being Easter week and all it's an added burden to my family but they're coming through for me nonetheless. I'm a pagan so Easter means nothing to me but they all go to church and they'll have to take Avery with them.....  (I'm hoping she won't be too damaged by all of the pomp and circumstance and glorification of a 'male' diety that I have no belief in)

Anyway, it's Vanille Royale tonight as I get all packed and ready to get the hell out of Chicago before the snow gets here! Yell

I hope everyone else is drying out and safe.....

    Cheers!

    Jaybird,

I lurk on this board from time to time. I'm in Oak Park. Where in the city are you? Have a good trip. I'm bummed about the weather forecasts. One of my friends said that spring is an unsubstantiated rumor!!!

Welcome Cherryl! No need to lurk come in and have a drink.

Junie - OMG I'm not sure I would have ever got on a big bike after that experience!!

Sam - so glad that the unveiling went well for you and no pain meds already... that's great!

Beergirl - that sounds like sooo much fun. I haven't done anything like that for a very long time!

Traci - you must live in beautiful area! Cool I love to visit the ocean.

Harley - I've been to Surfside Beach for vacation. Loved it there. My family rented a house right on the beach. We had planned the trip earlier in that year so that all of our families could go. Unfortuanetly my Mom was diagnosed not long before the trip with bc. We went just before her mast. I think everyone still had a pretty good time.

Charlene - you post such beautiful pictures! I love to see them.

Well I better get some work done.

    Cheers girls!

Harley - thanks she is doing good. She was diagnosed in 2001. Her recon did not go very well. She had tram flap done. She's dealt with alot of scar tissue build up and a few other things. The recon does not look very nice I know the appearance of it bothers her. Health wise she has done very well, however the doctors recently found a lump in her other breast and are currently " watching " it. I wish she would be a little more aggressive but she's comfortable with what she is doing. uugghh

    I think I'll have a drink!!

Glad that your Mom is doing good.  I know, it hurts when someone you love is going through bc... but, know that she has to do what she is comfortable with, even if you might choose more aggressive steps, because you love her.

Hope all goes well with her lump watching!!

I'll drink a toast to you and your Mom tonight!

    Good Morning all!

Thanks for the toast. I appreciated it.

Off to visit the family this weekend! Yeah! We leave late tonight.I'm excited. Even though the kids are grown they still get Easter baskets. I bought a big tub and I'm feeling it with some candy and some of their favorite beverages!

Is everyone staying safe from the flooding in the midwest? I sure hope so.

Well got to get to work for now. I'll check in on ya'll later.

    Cheers!

Quick post.  Happy Easter to everyone!

Our county has been declared a disaster area, but we sit pretty high up so no flooding of house.   We drove around a bit today and damn, that Mother Nature packs a nasty wallop!   Drove to marina to check on boat...well, the marina and boat are afloat!  But, ramp leading down to marina is underwater.   Marina parking lot is flooded.  Usually, you drive into parking lot and the marina is below your line of vision.   Today, we drove in as little far as we could get and we were looking UP at the marina!   Too bizarre!!!   Several low lying areas nearby were evacuated two nights ago.   I'm only serving bottled water, but have not seen any warnings to boil drinking water from the tap.

Water should start receding in next day or so--but more rain predicted in a few days--keeps life interesting for sure!!   I'm a little stressed, but I'm only inconvenienced a little because of roads being closed where I want to go.   I am selfishly grateful that I am only inconvenienced and my heart breaks for those whose homes have flooded.

gotta go grab some bottled water for tomorrow and, yeah, one more ML!!

    Bottoms Up!!!!

    hugggssssss, junie

I am newly diagnosed and 12 days post surgery. I am enjoying my wine now, because a friend that went through this said there is no drinking while on chemo. Is that correct??? Nervous about my meeting a week from Monday with my oncologist. Just when I think I have my emotional state in check I wake up in the middle of the night feeling like I am having a panic attack!!!

    Happy Easter to everyone

Open invitation to all to join me and friends next time we "celebrate life" at an Irish pub.  It really was loads of fun and lifted my spirits tremendously. Irish music every Tuesday. So, if you are anywhere near Houston (or can get here) let me know.

After leading a clean life of no smoking, drinking or drugs, I got BC. What a load of cra@! I use to ride a Harley, but when I got Lymphedema, I had to sell it. I lost my hair, eye brows, eye lashes and...oh, yes, my left breast! I had TRAM flap surgery 8 weeks ago, the flap failed, had to be removed and the muscle amputated. What keeps us going forward?

On this beautiful, sunny Easter day in northern California, it's a day of new beginnings and hope. Here's a toast to all my sisters...for all we've been through, for what we will go through, and who we'll be once we get there!

    Hoppy Easter!

bcs75, you can drink while doing chemo but I think you're not supposed to drink a lot??? I balked at "limit it to one drink/night, if that" but I found I'd lost my taste for alcohol (WTF???) during tx so I only drank on rare occasions. I've more than made up for it now though!

Beergirl, if I'm ever in Houston I'll for sure let you know!

Linda, congrats on your (almost) one-year anniversary!

    Cheers to all!!!
