how about drinking?

Yes- my computer at home has decided to take some time off (really it is just my wireless connection-although it keeps going to blue screen and "dumping physical memory" everytime I turn it on)
...so I am at work and checking in on my fav threads. Quick hi to all and I'll see some of you soon.
Needless to say, I am not drinking at work now, although it is not that unheard of, being a restaurant and all- someone's gotta taste those wines!
Hugs Chicas!

thought this would be interesting!!
Walking and Beer
A recent study found the average American walks about 900 miles per year.
Another study found Americans drink, on average, 22 gallons of beer a year.
That means, on average, Americans get about 41 miles to the gallon.
Kind of makes you proud to be an American.0 -
Cool stat! Cheers! I'm in Richmond, VA, and it's like 1:30 a.m. (a very long, late day!) so I'm off after I finish my glass of merlot.0

Here's to Friday ladies ~My surgery is scheduled for this coming Thursday and I've got lots to do this weekend to get ready for house guests! I don't know if I'll have time to be on later so I wanted to pop in now just to say: For everyone who had procedures and everyone waiting for test results this week ~ Amen, the week is over! I will tip one back for you all this evening...have a great weekend everyone!

Hey girls! Sorry I haven't been 'round.
Harley-That was funny!! No shit!!
Jaybird-Congrats on the test! I feel your relief girl. : - )
flyrzfan-Sorry you had to join us girl. I think I may just have to make a drink on your behalf. Good luck on your surgery.
Linda-Would have....been your 25th..? If you don't want to talk about it, that's cool!
Cherryl-Wish I liked beer! I'm gonna show that to my bro. He's a beer-a-holic. He's says "It's not a six pack, it's a support group". : )
Have a great weekend girls!

Traci,
LOL...he didn't die, the marriage did! The Rat B@#tard is taking me to court on Monday to lower our daughters child support. IF we would have stayed married, it would have been our 25th Anniversary on April Fool's Day. We've been divorced for 13 years...I'll drink to that!

Traci-
I'm sorry your marriage didn't work out, but, I like to try to think that everything happens for a reason...It just wasn't meant to be... You are such a sweet person, you deserve only the best!
I'll drink to that!!
Happy Independence Day, indeed!
I'm having a colonoscopy on Wednesday... I'll drink to that, too!

Hmmmm. Well, I'm in NY having a decent (and cheap!!!) shiraz/cab by Banrock Station. Any port in a storm, I say!
I'm off for 4 days then have to get my butt back to NY for another 3 days of fun flyin'! (oh, BTW, I do love my job)
Well, cheers!

HEY, I don't like the sad tone of this lately...
Can we drink to this...MY colonoscopy is Wednesday, and I'll be sittin' & S*ittin' all day tomorrow!!
Cheers!Harley

woo-hoo--KU won! Rock Chalk Jayhawks!!!! We had friends over for dinner, then to watch the game. Needless to say, lots of drinks consumed. I deem it a highly successful party--our team won and my shoes stick to the kitchen floor!!
Winding down now. But, have to stop laughing. The last couple to leave are known for their jokes/tricks--when I went to turn off the front lights and lock the door, found that they had stenciled a great big KU Jay Hawk on the storm door! It is fantastic! DH is such a big KU fanantic--he will love it when he opens the door in the morning to go get the paper!
Bottoms up to all!!!

GO KU !!!!!!!!! Wasn't that a great game??? I couldn't bear to watch the final 2 minutes in regulation - but glad I did - what a shot with 10 seconds left. As soon as they went to OT I just knew we would pull thru. Thank goodness the refs reviewed the 3 point shot by Memphis and changed it to a 2 pointer. We have some good friends who went to the game Saturday night but didn't stay for the final. Thier son plays in the pep band and they had seats right behind the band. He got to stay for the final game - wish I had been there.
I also had a few drinks to calm my nerves.

Well, I'm not into college ballgames but I'll drink to the winners nonetheless!!! Hell, I'll drink to the losers, too!0
-
J- I'm with you on the basketball thing. I'll drink to the winners AND the losers, 'cause I'm such a team player and all LOL! I do go in on the office bracket thing every year, but of course, I have NO idea what I'm doing and never win!
Big storms moving through here AGAIN. We've had so much rain the last couple of days, sure glad it's raining again NOT!
Mon night I thought hail was going to come through my skylights. Woke up at 3:30 in the morning and it sounded like I was being attacked. Guess I was being attacked...by hail. I was pacing frantically around my living room, saying "OMG! OMG! what am I going to do if the hail comes through the skylight" over and over....
I need a refill on my rum & coke.
Cheers,
Donna

CG, any excuse for a drink, eh??? (j/k)
I opted for a Cosmo this evening (oh, how exotic!!!). Bought some Cosmo mix and added some Grey Goose I already had in the freezer (you're supposed to freeze vodka - right?), shook it up over ice in my stainless shaker and voila (French for "there it is!") I'm having a drink or two before I head out to work early (early!) Thursday morning (hopefully before the rain hits here).
Donna, I can think of worse tings to be attacked by.... (like bees???)
I hope you survived the rain/hail/bad dreams?
Cheers to all my drinkin' buds!!!

Donna--wish you'd keep that damn rain in OK!!! Nothing scarier than big hail hitting a skylight!!! It has rained most of the day and tomorrow is supposed to be the BAD day! But, the good news is, rest of week-end should be dry--soggy, but no rain!
OK, drinking pros--have a question. Have a friend coming who likes Smirnoff's Green Apple drinks. I found a bottle of this at our local liquor store. Now, I discover that what she likes are already pre-mixed bottles....so, what I bought has to be mixed with something. I found a few "recipes" on the web, but they were greek to me. Can anyone give me some simple ideas??? I'm lost if it doesn't come in a can with a pull tab!!!!

OK....who will volunteer to have a BIG drink for me? I go in for chemo in the morning and doubt doing it with a hangover would be a good idea, but I had a shitty day....I here-by give my proxy to whoever will get drunk for me! I'll even send you some virtual asprin for the morning...
Hugs to all the party girls

Hugggssss, Deb--sending you good vibes for tomorrow! I'll be happy to get hammered for you tonight!! Don't bother sending me aspirin--have a plentiful supply! Good to see you here!

Hi All!!
Junie- If it were me I would just mix that Smirnoff with ice!!!
Deb - I also will volunteer to take one for the team here. A little late but I'll still step up!
I've been working like crazy! I have this Saturday off! YEAH! I am going to have my foob tattooed! Two red roses and a pink ribbon to tie them together. I'm hoping it doesn't hurt. I don't have much sensation so I'm figuring it shouldn't. I will be drinking afterwards if anyone would like to join me!!
Bottoms up!

Ahhhh, Lynne--ice, simple enough--will do!!! I knew someone would give me a suggestion! Thanks!!
Hugs to Deb, and am working on needing an aspirin dose before bedtime. Hope your tx went well.
Good old Capt. Morgan--he's a regular in our house as many friends prefer him.
Excited to be meeting up with some of you drinkin' buds tomorrow night! We'll toss back a few for all our friends on this thread!

Hi All-
Junie, I should be asleep by now for my drive tomorrow, but had to get on the computer to check the weather one more time.
Oh that apple vodka is great with club soda or a splash of Apple Pucker and some sour mix for an apple martini- Yum
See you tomorrow.
Janis- you are really on the go, miss chatting. I am finally on my computer, sitting on my couch- I think it works better when not plugged in- Finally I feel connected again!
Everyone have a safe dry night, no rain here since this am.

Funny, but during my tx, I didn't like Capt. Morgan... I couldn't taste the vanilla. So I stopped drinking it.
Ok... I didn't drink TOO much during chemo, but the nurse said that one drink at night was ok, and I didn't do it EVERY night, only a few times... like after the FIRST one, and after my last tx, I had a glass of champagne, 'cause you GOTTA CELEBRATE that last tx!Now, though, I am inviting the Capt. more often...in fact, I think I'll have him over tonight!!
Thanks, Jaybird... I'll drink to that!!

Good to hear from you, Traci!
I'm sure that I could use something from your sale, but by the time I would arrive, everything will be SOLD!!!
Good Luck with your move, girl! I'll be sad to see you move so far away from me... Florida is closer, so I might have been able to finally meet up with you someday...

Drinking. Hmmm. Well, it seems since chemo (or thereabouts) I cannot drink hard liquor without getting really tanked or feeling nauseous. The last venture into vodka did me in! Guess I'll have to stick to wine? Could be worse I suppose.....
So tonight I'm drinking to the merger of Delta and Northwest. This could work in my favor, or it might not - I'll know eventually.
Christine, I'm always here - posting or not. I have a wonderful laptop so I can post/read while traveling, if I have the time to!
My next decent layovers are: SLC, IAD and SFO. Too bad ya'll are in places I'm not going to be! Maybe next month???
Cheers!

laffin! Christine--the green apple vodka and tonic water did sweet SG in! She said it was sooooo gooooood! What a fun week-end we drinking buds had who got to meet up.
Janis--if ever XNA is on a layover, you'd best let me know! After i finish my condolences, I'll try to find a way to meet up with you! We took SG to XNA today--her tickets were with Delta; we went to the Delta counter for her to check in and she had to go to the Northwest counter to check in, but all was smooth. Hope that is a merger that works well for you and is painless for everyone else.
bottoms up!!! hugggssss to all!!!
