Good morning friends- thanks for all the kind words on my health updates. The only thing I want to focus on now is getting back to a bit more exercise and loosing the last 20 lbs off my old bod. Therefore, I took my other bike (the one where I can ride longer distances) in for a tune up yesterday and also got some accessories for my other street bike (including a basket I really wanted for it when I bought it last year. Now I just need a puppy to put in the basket (lol).

Waking up to some soaking rain today which we so need. We are in an extreme drought and fires cropping up everywhere. The news said this week our summer monsoons are setting up early and this moisture is both from that and also a left over hurricane system that came up through Mexico. Should be raining all day today. A whole day of rain here is a very rare thing, so we love it when it happens.

Dara- nice to hear from you. This year is my 40th high school reunion. It is in late August and not sure I will make it back east for it, but keeping the option open still at this time. Will you go to yours? I have only been to one before (my 15 year) as I was never around the area for the others or they were not at a good time of the year to go (usually right before Thanksgiving). This one is on the beach so I do want to go.....

Cami- thanks for your kind words as always. It sounds like Leslie and Marty are finding ways to take breaks during all this stuff. Is Leslie done with treatment now or still has some things left to do? I think Joey must be getting out of school any time. Is he playing the flute regularly? And you going to spend time with Jodie and FF, oh boy sister. Well, try to see it as some quality time with your other DD and don't let that dude get under your skin. Do they have a pool?

NM- you sound like you have a fun day ahead, a garden tour and more! Maine is so beautiful in the summer. I have such fond memories of going to a cabin on a pond in Maine as a kid. I have no idea now where that was, no one to ask anymore but it was pretty far upstate. And Ogunquit too, lots of time there. Has the kayak come out yet? I have been reading your posts on de-cluttering too and glad you are chugging along with that work as well. Do you have farmers markets?

ChiSandy- sounds like you have a gig this weekend and hope things are going well. Is the music in an amphitheater or outdoor stage or indoors? I enjoy wine dinners also, but the tastings are fun as they are more about the wine and the food is just an accessory. Do you have a favorite rose? How is your wrist?

Goldie- I hope you are doing okay and know with all that is going on. It was the summer of 2005 when we went through a lot of the same things you are dealing with right now. One of the hardest times of my life, and of course, trying to keep everything going back home too. Is your DD doing any better yet? Is your DD doing better yet?

Where is Mema Sue and Genny? We lost Hsant too I think, gone for about a year. If you are all out there lurking too, that is okay.

Mistyeyes, the Karens, and others I am probably missing, thinking of you today as well.

For those of you with dads celebrating Father's Day this weekend, enjoy. With those of you missing your dads (like me), hugs. For those of you with DH's and sons that are dads, blessings to you.

Well, DH couldn’t find the right sized watermelon yesterday, so we’ve put the punch off until next weekend (when we’ve having a few friends over). So, I’ll be having a few bottles of a summer beer sampler instead. Watermelon pics next weekend 😀

Outdoor stage, Jazzy--and am heading out the door in a few minutes. Hoping to find street parking but seeing as how we're on at prime time (and must check in by 6), I'm not optimistic. Hope I can stash my instruments under the stage & out of the heat while I head to the parking garage. Not gonna stay for the fireworks at 11pm.

Cami, Two Way Street is a non-profit. Been around nearly 50 yrs. They don't need to make money (in fact, not allowed to by Fed. law). Admission charges go 100% to the performers. All staff are volunteers, and the host is also the church's minister. It''s a listening room with great acoustics. It's so popular with artists that there's a 3-yr. booking rotation.

NM, I do know she is safe. She didn't think she was, but I assured her she was, the place is locked up, you have to ring a bell to get in, and then sign in. Finally she remembers this. Been dealing with this for 6 months know. I really really wish she would just go to Heaven.

Jazzy, glad you had such a nice time at the wine tasting. Glad things are looking up with your health and meds. My DD is doing fine, not sure what you are referring to tho? LOL!

Sandy, good luck on your gig, hoping your wrist cooperates.

Cami yes, the plane was small. You can't even stand up in it. Will Joey go with you to Jodie's or with his mom and dad. I laff so hard with you write about FF. For the new goils, this means phuck face!

Illona, the Watermelon/wadka punch sounds so refreshing!

Wacko, congrats on the 6 years. Sorry things aren't going well for you. Are you hooking up with your HS buddies? And how is that sweet grandson of yours?

Well, I pulled another good one the other day. DH had appt. with spine doc. BTW he is fine, he just has a 62 year old back! Anyways, stopped for gas, I was driving. DH had been out there for a bit, then comes to my window to tell me he was going in to the restroom. Well, scarecrow me thought he was done with the gas and I pull away to go wait for him by the door. He was not done, and I pull away with the pump still in!

Lots of rain here yesterday, my garden will be happy. Did I tell ya all I have 41 mater plants in? Thinking of all of you in the midwest, getting those high temps and humidity. We are supposed to be in the 90's this week.

Good Morning, Loungettes!Happy Sunday Funday!I took my weekend fun day yesterday. Met up with 3 gals from High School and one of our Freshman teachers and roamed around Thuya Gardens and had a picnic and visits for the biggest part of the day. It was great! I'm not as stiff and sore as I expected I would be this ayem, even though I do have to move a bit carefully when first getting up from sitting cuz my back is complaining. Got some good color even through the sunblock. 80's and sunny, nice breeze, very low humidity, about as perfect as it can get. As we were getting ready to leave the picnic area a dozen or so antique cars drove into the parking lot. It was quite the hoot to see all those old cars!Sadie must have been very busy yesterday supervising the neighborhood, she was pooped when I go thome. We both went to bed early last night!

Left to right: Jill (classmate), Leslie (classmate) Miriam (Freshman English Teacher), me, Jeanne (Classmate)

Cammy--I love wine tastings, and when I was working full time I rarely, if ever, was able to make it to any wine tasting events. Now that I am in control of my work schedule I can just be sure I'm not working on a day there is a wine tasting I really want to go to, or only accept the number of visits I can do and still make it if I work that day. I really want to start making some wines again, need to work on getting that going.

Jazzy--A whole day of soaking, steady rain can be a godsend for the gardens in the summer! The kayak hasn't come out yet, the water is still too cold for my taste, but that will change in a few weeks. We do have farmer's markets, but for some reason I have a hard time getting to them. There used to be one on Monday afternoons about 10 miles from home but last summer they stopped doing Mondays and Thursdays and only do Thursdays. There are a few others during the week but they tend to be in small, tucked away places that I either can't find or can't find parking. The vast majority of the big ones now are on Saturdays and are mob scenes, with just too many people jostling around. It seems like I used to go by them while I was working all the time, and could just stop on my way by. Used to keep a small cooler in the car just for that. I used to stop at a individual farm roadside stands quite often, but those have come up rare now. I don't know if everyone has gotten into the big Farmer's Market movement or if they just don't do roadside stands anymore. Ogunquit is beautiful. Hard telling where the camp was if you don't remember the name of the pond or any nearby towns. There are hundreds of those here!

Illi--I was looking forward to the watermelon pics!Ah, well, next weekend, then.Hope the summer beers are good!

Goldie--Good Lord, driving away still connected to the gas pump? YIIKES! No damage, I hope? 41 maters? Good foryou. I've got to go check my 5 today, not sure any of them are taking. Too cold right after transplanting, then too hot and dry!

Goldie- I meant your DH, not DD, whoops! He was not doing well with pain, but hope things are better? But I hope your DD is doing okay in the VI too. I know they have to still be cleaning up from that bad hurricane last year. Is she okay too?

NM- well I definitely understand it being too cold yet (I remember trying to swim in the COLD ocean when I was living up there one summer, never really got warm!) Your pic yesterday looks great and think you all must have had a fab time. And instead of kayaking, you need to do this!

Brutally hot yesterday. Only 72F when I left the Chicago lakefront at 1:15pm CDT--less than an hour later, crossing into IN, it was 90. When I stopped for gas at Fair Oaks, 94. And when I got to the festival in Lafayette to load in backstage, 97! Spent the following 90 min. guzzling water and sitting in the shade, but at one point my pulse was 122! At showtime (7pm EDT) it was still >90. My L wrist & thumb were not cooperative--in fact, I was playing the dulcimer intro to "Pack Up Your Sorrows" and the pain in the wrist & basilar thumb joints so startled me that I had to take off my watch and start again (this time knowing to expect the pain and plow through despite it). We had to change several songs in the set list because of it. And when we finished, the performance adrenaline immediately wore off and I had a combination heat-exhaustion/intermittent-mitral-valve prolapse attack (which usually strikes after playing outdoors on hot days, but once even during a set). My pulse was 108, but I swear it felt faster than before the show (needed to use my "Breathe" app 3X). I had to have help packing up, and they walked my stuff the 3 blocks to the garage so they could load my car rather than have me do the walking, driving and reloading behind the stage. The ironic thing was that this was a "Taste" festival, but I was so queasy from the attack that I dared not try to eat anything (especially not the local wines)--I might have fainted standing out in the sun (even at 8:15pm) to buy food & drink tickets. At least I didn't have to buy bottles of water--security kept passing them to me.

After struggling the 3 blocks (and a flight of stairs) to retrive my keys & reach my car, I cranked up the AC all the way for 5 min. Drove back to Fair Oaks for dinner--prime rib, but had to opt for icewater & iced tea because I had 90 more miles to drive after, drinking water all the way. When I got home, brought in my instruments--still 90F outside--and refrigerated the leftovers (which was most of my meal), I made myself an Aperol spritz--heavy on the ice, 2-1/2 oz. prosecco, and almost no room for seltzer. Most gratefully-appreciated cocktail of my life.

    Hello mese goils!

I had a bootiful day in the pool, actually got in and swam a bit but mostly drifted along in my favorite float.

Cam, thanks for the warm welcome, I can always count on you for that among other tings. Hope your weekend work has been quiet for you.

Lori, omg and oops. Hope you did not damage your vehicle with running away with the pump still in the truck. Yikes. No hookups with the high school buddies, we are due for a reunion. Congrats on all those tomatoes, send some here please hehehe! Sending more prayers your way and hope things get easier with your Mom.

NM, love the pic of you, you look bootiful as always. Thanks for the well wishes, you de bomb. Glad the reunion was fun, it is always great getting together with classmates.

Sandy, sorry about the near heat stroke, geez, be careful out there when it is so hot. No wonder you have a hard time playing in hundred degree heat. I too am glad you are okay.

Ill, sorry you had to postpone, hope you have a nice time when you try again next weekend.

Jazzy, sweet Father's Day wishes you posted for all of is. It is a hard day, like you, I miss my Daddy berry berry much. We do not have a reunion scheduled. Cheryl and I are hoping to get a few others on board to organize our 40th reunion. I was on the committee for the 30th and there were personality conflicts that got a little ugly which chased away one of the girls who would be the most helpful of all. It is a shame that girls can be so damn catty. I forgot that we are the same age, both graduated in 79 I tink.

Well I am going to try to stay connected to you goils. As was pointed out to me, I have nothing but time and no reason to stay away from de bestest lounge in de world!

    Love you all muchly!

Good Morning, Loungettes! Going to be busy today, heat pump getting put in. The electrician will be here around 7:30, the rest of the crew at 8.Apparently it only takes a few hours to install. Supposed to be hot and humid today, with T-storms, potentially severe, this afternoon. The garden really needs the water, I really should have watered it over the weekend, but the weather guessers kept saying it was going to rain that evening, so I waited. Ah, well. Sadie will not be happy being relegated to the bedroom this ayem, but her version of "helping" is anything but helpful! I'll find a way to make it up to her.

Jazzy--Oh, my goodness! That ice cream trail is AMAZING! And so much fun! And perfect for doing with Sadie! Thanks a million for the link!!

Chi--Yikes, talk about heat! Something to remember in that kind of heat while guzzling water is to get some salt or sodium into your system as well. Drinking a Gatorade or other sports drink every 3rd or 4th bottle, a handful of salted potato chips or salted nuts, or mix one or two salt packets into every 3rd or 4th bottle of water. I can just bet that Aperol Spritz tasted like heaven!I'm glad you had help with the equipment. Hope the show went well, too.

Dara--It was fun getting together with the girls. The older I get the more important the people in my life become, including the "virtual" people here online!

Jazzy, an ice cream trail! I'm not much of a sweet eater, but I do like my ice cream. I can't imagine how sick one would be after visiting 10 of them! My DH is fine. Just like any other time. First it was the skin cancer, he had one on his face. "OMG, they're gonna cut my face off". Next was the kidney, "OMG, I'm gonna die". And lastly the back, "OMG, they're gonna cut my back open". He has a 62 year old back! Nothing wrong with his kidney, except what most 62 yo's deal with. Skin cancer, can't even see a scar. DD is fine too, thanks for asking.

NM, beautiful pictures of you and your friends. What a nice day! Hope all goes well with the heat pump sichiation. Hoping you get the rain you need. I was so glad to get some, it wasn't much, maybe 1/2", but I'll take it.

Sandy, I feel for for trapsing around in that heat. I had to take a rather long walk between airport terminals, outside in 107 degrees.

Wacko, hoping you stick around. Glad you got some pool time. I too would just float. Did that when I lived in MI in our pond.

Goldie- glad to hear your DH is okay. I remember he had a number of things going on, and glad he got through it. I remember we talked about how men don't deal well with health issues (theirs, ours, etc.). Perhaps women have the benefit of getting used to seeing doctors earlier in life with being the baby makers, to keep an eye on reproductive health, etc. I know too many men who get to middle aged and go "OMG, look at what is happening to me." I rarely share my health issues with my male friends, because it always turns in to a "mine is worse" competition. Big eye roll! Anyways, he sounds okay, daughter too, but know you have your hands full with mom stuff.

    Mornin' Ladies,

Dara it's so nice seeing u here again and I luv how lori gets to call u wacko, it still makes me LOL, everytime.

OK Illi I will wait for the watermelon pic.

Lori THE GAS PUMP, did it go that far, OMG , now that cracks me up, And I got all confused about ur DD when jazzy asked, I thought how could I miss this. But I'm glad ur mom is taking this better. Lori u've done all u could do now. And 40 mater plants holy chit u'll be busy. Really busy.

Kim great pics. U know how i am. It's still unusual for me to see u relaxing and having a good time. In the past all u did was work and now u are literally smelling the roses the chables etc. It's funny how Sadie is tired from her day, wonder what she did. ahaha.

Jazzy u sound good, that's always a plus.

My weekend was for the most part chitty. I did go by my cousin's joanne and she is really not well this time. usually she pops back, but she's not. She slept almost the whole time and barely ate, I just sat by her and we talked some and she wanted to know if she could fix me a plate of food and we did both start to laugh, she can't take care of herself but in true fashion she wanted to help me, she always worries about me now ooohhh. Dan knew how hard I I took this and later when we were home and at nite he came over so we could watch TV for a while, he kept me company. My sister and I can hardly talk about this, but she wants to go there this week, I might go with her.Joey came home Sunday afternoon and that was great for me, but I was so worn out we really didn't spend enough time together But he knew why. But I can say he can really buy great souvenirs for us. So it was a Good Fathers day for marty.

Hope everyone has a good start of the week at least.

    LUBS U ALL

We had a nice Father's Day--we were all safely air-conditioned (Gordy & I at home, Bob at work & in the car). By the time we walked to the restaurant it was a nice mild 89F. Leslie's parents are just as delightful as she is! We share the same interests (and politics, whew!) and they've lived everywhere in the US, plus Indonesia. With dinner, we had cava, a bottle of white Bordeaux (50-50 Sauv. Blanc & Semillon, sort of like a Graves), and the menfolk also had some Super-Tuscan (mostly Sangiovese with a little Malbec) that had been featured Thurs. night.

Had a scare this a.m.--housekeeper was here barely 1/2 hr before she got a call that her DH was en route to the ER at Hines V.A.--he was at his barber, complained of losing feeling in his L arm & leg, so they called 911. She just called back--it wasn't a stroke after all, but just severe dehydration (and in this heat that's no surprise). He prefers Coke Classic to water, so that's gotta stop--from now on, water & diet Gatorade.

So I can go back to worrying about my annual bilateral mammo Wed. morning and hand surgeon visit/cortisone shot that aft. I fear that because my wrist seems to be getting worse, and might need surgery, I may never regain full mobility in my L wrist again--so there goes my musical career except for just singing. Someone suggested getting a digital therimin so I can control any electric instrument with just my R hand. Yeah, right--just what I need, another massive learning curve. (I might, however, intensively study blues harmonica to give me better soloing chops on that--I had no trouble playing it this weekend & last). Meantime, I have 15 more hours of CLE videos to watch so I can truthfully report 30 hrs. by June 30 and comply with law-licensing requirements.

As to the mammo, I will keep that rabbit from running around in my head--it's just an annual mammo, and no sense in making myself crazy before I know if anything's amiss, much less what it may be. Que sera, sera...

Second week of summer vacation. It is so nice to have the time to do things in the house. I have gone through 3 under the bed boxes and combined it into one and other stuff...its amazing when you have the time what you can get done. My goal is to get done with the house, then hopefully the garage and crawl space. But whatever I get done is more than what was.....also 2 bags of give aways....

I've been drinking beer instead of wine the past couple weeks....Sweet dreams

Good Morning, Loungettes!Happy Twofer Tuesday! Yesterday turned into quite the interesting day. Was supposed to get some rain in the ayem, then sunshine and up to 90 degrees possibly, with possible severe thunderstorms in the peeyem/evening/overnight. What we got was steady rain all day long. 1.34 inches in my rain catcher this ayem. A couple distant rumbles of thunder, nothing really notable. Sort of disappointing except that the deck garden is looking great and the peas and poppies are up in the yard and thriving. Lost all the cucumbers, may be able to save a couple of tomato plants. Probably will just get some more seedlings and start over with them. The morning glory are peeking up, too. Got the heat pump put in, poor guy working in the rain and wet, but he was awfully cheerful about it. Played around with the settings a bit, then left it on Cool, set at 72. The wall thermometer was saying it was 69 degrees, so I figured it wouldn't come on very much. Well, it kicked in once in a while, very quiet, felt pretty good. Fast forward to bedtime, and I discover that the unit has cooled the living room and kitchen, as planned and expected, but the cool has also moved down the hall way and can be felt in the bedroom! So I left the bedroom door open and was very comfortable sleeping last night despite the humidity outside. This unit isn't supposed to be really effective as far away as the bedroom, so I am very pleased at this little surprise. Now if the heating function works anywhere near as well as advertised I'll be paying next to nothing in heating oil from now own. I do NOT need those $400 to $500 bills every 3 to 4 weeks in the winter! Sadie was miffed she had to stay in the bedroom so she totally unmade the bed, arranged all the pillows and the comforter into a big nest, untucked the bottom sheet, and then curled up in the basket of clean clothes as if it were a doggy bed and napped. So that load of laundry will need to be run through the wash again. Oh well, she could have done a lot worse!

Goldie--your DH sounds like such a dramatist when it comes to medical stuff! We did get a nice bit of rain yesterday and it was all the good, steady, soaking kind, with just a few downpours.

Cammy--I tell you, this having a social life thing is GREAT! Wish I'd discovered this years ago! I'm sorry your weekend was not so good. It's hard to see our family members aging. Glad Joey is home. You'll have to tell us what he got of souvenirs. Praying for Joanne.

Chi--How scary for the housekeeper and you! Heat exhaustion and dehydration are not things to fool around with. I hear you about the annual mammo rabbit run, wish I knew an answer to that one but I don't. Studying harmonica sounds like fun!

Karen--Great job with the underbed stuff!Good for you!

Jazzy, why in the world would one want to "compete" with health issues! I would be more than happy to be able to say "I'm glad I don't have to deal with that". Instead of trying to make it out that I am so much worse off than you!!!

Cami, are you laffing at moi! The pump did not go that far, it was pulled out of the gas hole (don't know what else to call it). So what kind of souvenirs did Joey get? Sorry to hear about Joanne.

Sandy, good luck with that mammo. Nice to hear that you got along with Leslie's folks.

LOL, Karen and Janky switching things up, beer vs. wine! Hey Karen, good to see you.

NM, I think Sadie was maybe trying to tidy up the boudoir! Hooray for no more high oil bills. So this heat pump heats and cools? Hate it when I lose something in the garden. Sometimes you can start again, but not usually. It's like, you only get one shot at this!

My mom is driving me bonkers! Called 3 times yesterday. Always repeating the same things on every call, even repeating 3 times or more the same things in the same conversation. Also, asking the same questions over and over again. AND, she knows the answers to all of them! So why ask? It is so frustrating. But she is not like that when she talks to my kids! Do you think she's playing us? An aide or nurse will come into the room, she knows everyone's name, their spouses name and even some of their childrens names!

    Mornin' Ladies,

Does everyone clean all the time here??? Now Karen ur going at it. Oh I'm so lazy, always getting tired reading what u gals are doing. Good for all of u, actually.

Oh sadie what she does is so funny. She has a mind of her own completely and shows u how she feels all the time. luvs it.

Lori, I don't know anting medically, but it is funny how ur mom remembers names, that's a hard one for me anyway. She maybe is calling just to talk to you and really doesn't have muc to say so she just repeats. She still has a lot to get used to so she might be looking for ur attention, and just does the same ole' thing. Only cuz I'm bad at names now so everyone is honey better than bitch. O Joey bought leslie a carving <with wood. for a shelf and very nicely done, a tee for Marty what components are used in making beer <hahaha> his drink and a big magnet for me with a pretty pic on it, cuz I always lose my little notes.

Sandy ur wrist is really a ess, but now to be able t do ur music is a hard blow, i'm sure for u. I do hope it doesn't come to that, Oh I know u can still sing but I think u love doing the shole pkg. And dehydration is very scary, I think it's harder to see than it is on the person, well it was for me anyway cuz my memories of the times I was are barely there but my kids were hysterical as they say when they watched it, o maybe they're just telling me that lol.

My caps keys don't work well BTW.

1AM in the morning an electrical call came in, a tree fell on lines and ComEd couldn't do anything til an electrician came---I really thought they were all electricians, anyway what a night going forward, I thought I was done at 11PM but I didn't realize any winds or storm was that bad the other night. I had to wake up Bob <my main man> and the lady's name was Lola so of course I woke him up singing Copacabana, her last name was Hoover, so u can imagine how I explained that one Well he was at least LOLing, then he had to go to work. Laughter stopped. Then I had a hard time sleeping ick.

OK for now, Ill check in later, thanks for ur thoughts about Joanne, this is still so sad.

    LUBS U ALL

NM - Sadie put you in your place for sure - no more locking away says she!!

Goldie - My mom is in moderate stage of dementia, so she repeats, repeats, then seems to know lots more than she lets on, then once again, seems to have no immediate recall. It is very trying on everyone, so we mostly just try to says 'yes' etc. to her constant queries - not much help for you though :(

Cami - I seldom clean though I have some major stuff to do, so at least you know there is 2 of us here (though I am gonna try to do more...tomorrow) Winking Happy hump day - Cheers!!

Cami- no cleaning over here! I did have my monthly cleaning company in Monday so they cleaned. The house looks good, but will be messy in no time. And that Joey is such a thoughtful young man.......

Janky- my father had early onset dementia in his 60s, and was in my early 20s. Back in the 1980's when not much was really being discussed about these things. He repeated himself constantly when I would go home from grad school to visit. He would tell me a whole story, pause and then start it over again. But there was something that REALLY helped, I attending some Alsheimers support groups to learn some of the ways to help manage some of these challenges that come up with a parent with dementia. I learned so much to be able to help my father (also my mother as she went through taking care of him). Sending you much love sister.

jazzy - ty! This place is my happy place, I don’t always post, but I love it as there is always something to be learned, shared and the support is super!

If anyone has feedback on the following, please share 😉 I went for a brain scan as I was having little headaches. I did not want to have anyone fussing so I didn’t say anything to anyone, BUT inadvertently posted for less than 2 minutes on FB page - I thought I was on the MBC fb page. My dil’s mom saw it (4 others did too) 😟 now my kids are angry ish cause I'm not telling them and don’t get it that I don’t want unnecessary stress in anyone else...I would tell them if there was anything after the scan for sure...sheesh some days o can’t ein for trying. Thanx forlistening😘😘

Janky- can you just tell your family that your post was meant for your cancer support group on FB and accidentally posted in the broader community? Maybe explain to them any tests we go through are just a part of us being checked regularly for our wellness and that this is typical of the type of things we talk to our support community about? That you will let them know if there are any concerns from the test. Most people don't even understand the whole on line support group concept. We cancer folks have blood work and tests all the time, most people don't even realize that.

Let us know how your MRI comes out. Prayers for good outcomes.

Well. Looks like yesterday's post didn't post. So here it is a day late:

Good Morning, Loungettes! Happy Hump Day! Off to the second office for work today after a half day at the main office yesterday. The nursing home I've been going to regularly has been assigned a full time nurse now, so I suspect I won't be going there very much anymore. Which is a good thing. There are a couple of nurses in another geographic area that are truly overloaded, and where I should be sent to help in an ideal world. Maybe now that will start happening. We'll see. It's just a shame that I only worked half a day and 2 other nurses had double loads yesterday. Sadie was happy to have me home early, so that was good. That dog can spend more time on her back getting belly rubs than any dog I've ever met!

Goldie--Yup, a heat pump is reversable! There is also a "Dry" mode that dehumidifies and a "Fan" mode for circulation! I'm not happy about losing the tomatoes and cucumbers, but I've found that if I have what I wanted in the ground and growing by the end of June I do pretty well, garden-wise. Going to look for some seedlings to replace the lost ones while I'm out and about today. Most gardens are late getting going this year. One big strawberry farm is not having "pick your own" this year at all due to losing so many plants to the crazy cold and wet spring. They've got to replace at least one entire field.I've seen behavior like your Mom's before. I'm not sure if she's playing you or doesn't know anything else to talk about with you.Try getting her to talk about the staff and/or their children, or a TV show she watches or something when she calls. I know it's really frustrating to have the same conversation over and over again in the same call and in multiple calls.

Good Morning, Loungettes! Now for today's post. Whilst working for the second office I got an email from Clinical Manager #1 saying she wants me to work Friday in one area, and then a voice mail from Clinical Manager #4 wanting me to work in another area on Friday. I emailed them back that I will work in ONE area, they can choose which. Those two have GOT to learn to talk to each other. It'll be interesting to see where I end up going on Friday. Need to work a 4th day this week to get enough hours to make the budget work after the half day Monday.Hoping to get home early enough to take Sadie swimming this afternoon. Now that it's warmed up nicely, it's time to think about getting the kayak out, too.

Cammy--Sadie does have a mind of her own, and she is not shy about stating her opinion! I'm amazed that the electric company wouldn't go to a call until an electricianwent--what is up with that? Sounds like Bob went out and took care of whatever with a smile on his face. Too funny!

Janky--yup, I got that message, loud and clear! She is so expressive for a "dumb" animal.

Jazzy--great idea about the dementia support groups. There are a number of them now, and are very helpful. So sorry you had to go through that with your father. So not fair.

Janky--Yikes, what a predicament. I agree with Jazzy, explain that tests and scans are an ongoing part of your life now, and usually nothing changes, and you will let them know when something does change. You might explain that you need a little time to process the info before dealing with their questions and concerns. The family is probably more upset that you talked with the support group people before talking with them. Remind them that it's still YOUR body, and YOU will decide when and how to disseminate information about it. Hugs and prayers.

    Countess Bunty Rothschild's DOTD:

    Botanical Gin Martini

    Ingredients:

    a dash of dry vermouth,

2 oz. of Bombay Sapphire Gin, and

one botanical ice cube at the base of the glass.

how do you make a botanical ice cube?

Roughly chop two English cucumbers, leaving seeds and peels intact.

Combine with 1 oz. of cilantro seeds and

one cup of simple syrup (1/4 water 3/4 sugar) in a blender to puree.

Strain the combination through a fine siv and freeze in silicone mold

To prepare: Simply combine the vermouth, gin, and ice in a strainer, line the inside of a martini glass with frozen cucumber wheels, place one botanical ice cube at base of martini glass, strain the cocktail into your glass, and serve.

Janky/Jazzy, it's almost a relief to hear of others who have/had parents with dementia and experienced this repeating bit! Thanks for the input.

Janky, I agree with Jazzy, and yourself. Telling them that you would let them know if something was wrong after the scans. And as for this being your support group, it is mine too! I just could not ever leave. Good luck with the scan and DO let us know.

Cami, I would NOT be taking calls at those hours of the night. I don't care if I were even up. I'll bet there is no other company that takes calls like that! I think you need a raise!!!

NM, talking to my mom about staff, I already know about all of them, from her! It's more repeat stuff. It's ok, I can deal with it. I am thankful that she is not at home anymore, she's safe where she is and well taken care of. Interesting about the heat pump, and hoping it saves you much moola! And I'm hoping you can reap some rewards from your garden. It's been such a cray cray year for weather. That place you work for, just doesn't seem to well organized. Working you only a half day, which I don't think you mind, and overloading other nurses.

Yesterday, I was talking with mom and brother, 3 way. She is a slob, and with such a small area, it is easy to get messy. Well she likes having stuff "with in" reach. She has a night stand, rolling table for meals and a wheel chair. Well she puts stuff all over the bed, on the things mentioned above and the floor. She had spilt something on her rolling table, was all sticky. And then the messes she makes and said we need to get someone in here to clean this mess up. I said to her, you made it, why can't you clean it? She says to me, "maybe you should mind your own business" LOL.

I've been having a heck of a time catching critters in my garden. Son of a guns, eating my maters, munched a pepper plant right down to nothing. It's a constant battle around here, I tell ya! Oh, got to check out my FJ yesterday, no damage from driving off with the pump still attached!

Janky, sorry you’re dealing with that. We can’t worry about everything little thing ourselves, much less subject others to it. I have a spot on my skin, allergy or cancer, my neck is sore this morning, slept weird or cancer, it never ends. Good luck with them and the MRI.

I’m testing out the watermelon recipe tonight (small batch) 😋

I don't think I have shared any music with you in awhile. This is a group called Snarky Puppy that is a headliner at a lot of the international jazz festivals. I heard them on our local NPR/All that Jazz one afternoon last month and learned this is a group that formed out of the North Texas State music program (one of the best state university music programs in the country. They are three time Grammy award winning too.

Love this jazz fusion group and what they are doing! Enjoy!
