Mornin' ladies,
Hard to picture it getting so cold in ur parts of the West girls. The old West, ah memories. Anyway Lori I type on my puter which has aged considerably since I started using a computer. After cancer and I was home friends of mine chipped in and bought me one, since then Dan has overhauled it I think once, he has tried to teach so many things to me on here, but nothing sticks anymore, I have however learned new stuff for work, so good enuff. Lori member u tried to teach me
The end of the year is winding up, what a thought 2019, I thought this number was a dream when I was a kid and flying cars would be happening now <like the Jetsons> But I do hope we all have a good year coming up with good health and happiness. And cleanliness yes cleanliness I want to be able to take a shower by myself with no help hahaha.

Cami, can you open an email, as if to send it. Read on here and then go post in the email, then copy and paste it here? Do you know how to copy and paste? Joey should be able to help you too.

Goldie, I had taxol once a week for twelve weeks right after dx. Then, when they saw I might actually live, (it was baaad) I started Ibrance and letrozole immediately after that. I pray it works for me for a long time to come. My doctor said X would probably be the next tmt for me, paired with....something I forget. Faslodex? I remember thinking bad hands/feet AND sore butt, no thanks! Lol Hoping I won't have to change for a long, long time.

New to this group today and so glad I found this thread!! While I have not felt like drinking I am currently enjoying a Miller Lite as I feel better than I have in over a week and I pretty simply love Miller Lite lol. We are all grown and can listen to our bodies and make decisions for ourselves and let's face it, feeling normal is just a good feeling so I will enjoy it while I can
Do what you do, care for yourselves and thanks for drinking "with me".

Happy Sunday all!
ChiSandy - Thank you - I appreciate the info! Glad Gordy is home safe...
goldie0827 - I was dx stage 4 January 2018 - Happy New Years to me (not)!! Ibrance was added to the Letrozole at that time and I go for xgeva shots every 3 months. Is your birthday August 27? I am okay with the Ibrance, low neutrophils are my main problem, periodic diarrhea is also a pain in the butt (no real pun intended, it's the truth) and general fatigue. It is the letrozole which causes my achy bones and joints.
cami - it is sooooo frustrating to lose a post, especially the longer ones
MemaSue - Hi back to you and everyone else here - I love you ladies and this thread (forum)...Cheers! janky

Good Morning, Loungettes!Happy New Year's Eve!Here's to saying Good-Bye to 2018, and Hello to 2019.May the new year bring happiness, health and wealth to us all!
Goldie--I don't have a physical scanner, I use a scanner app. It's free, and makes for good entertainment sometimes. One thing that struck me this last weekend is the number of ambulance calls out for someone who was "down, not conscious, not breathing, possible overdose." There must have been almost one an hour the other day. I knew it was a big problem, never realized it was so big a problem in central Maine.I don't blame you for taking a few months off from labs and doctors. And you win the low temp award--a good 10 degrees colder than here!
Cammy--Remember all the hoopla around computers and going from 2019 to 2000?Everything was supposed to fall apart, or blow up or something cuz the computers weren't set up to recognize the difference between 1900 and 2000 due to using only the last 2 digits of the year.Never happened.Does seem like we should have flying cars and lots of other stuff like on the Jetsons.I want a Rosie!
El7277--Welcome to the HTL! Miller Lite has been pretty popular here in the lounge in times past. Sounds like its time for a comeback!
Janky--what a way to start 2018.
The Violet Hour
Contributing Blogger: Cheryl Charming of the "Charming Cocktails" blog
"The Violet Hour refers to the hour of midnight at the New Year. With the re-introduction of créme de violette (krem da VIO-let) into America, I found that the delicate perfumed liqueur pairs very well with the pear taste profile."
Ingredients
- 1 ounce créme de violette
- 1 ounce pear puree
- 4 ounce brut champagne
- Edible flower garnish
Directions
- Chill a 7-8 ounce coupe (depicted in image) champagne glass and pour in the first two ingredients then top with brut champagne.
- Add edible non-toxic flower garnish. (Flower shown is a culinary orchid.)
Tips/Techniques
Créme de Violette (liqueur made from French violets) was unavailable in America for about 85 years until recently.
You can make your own pear puree or purchase from your local grocer.
To balance the sweetness of the liqueur and puree a dry/brut Champagne is recommended.

Good morning! Good bye 2018-gonna be a new world for me and my family in 2019. Left breast masectomy on Dec 4th, still have my drain in, Hope to get it out January 3rd, which is my first day of Chemo! Taxol / Herceptin! Only weekly Taxol for 12 weeks! All new to me..! Very curious about drinking? Yup I drink now.. but what about for the next 12 weeks? Oncologist said a glass of wine with dinner ok, but I need a drink when I get home from work! So.. that still possible or wait and see? She said mine would be mild, but all the posts about Taxol are far from mild! Definitely wouldn’t drink the night before a tx. Any advice helpful

Mud, X really hasn't been too bad for me, been on it over 4 years. SE's change as time goes on. My worse, I guess, would be the H/F syndrome, but I deal with it. When on a higher dose, I had explosive "D". I now use CBD oil, and that seems to help a lot with the "D". You were in pretty bad shape in the beginning?
El, hi and welcome to the HTL aka Hot Tatties Lounge. I'll join you in a beer! Tell us a little bit about yourself. We are a rather small group, we like to have fun, but we are also very supportive when it's needed.
Janky, your diagnosis in your signature doesn't state stage IV, hence my question about Ibrance. Sorry your diagnosis changed so quickly, mine took 6 years, but I always suspected it would. Yes, that is my birthday; I turned 60 this year, but feel like I'm 45-50!
Ah NM, a scanner app. Not sure how much I would pick up, giving where I live, but still cool. And I would love a Rosie too! Amazing and so sad about all the possible over doses. I remember the scare going from 1999 to 2000, there was a name for it, but I can't think of it. Ok, asked mese hubby, it was Y2K. We sold a bunch of gas masks on Ebay, as so many were sure the world was coming to an end. People were spending like $200 for each and next day delivery, it was cray cray. And I think we only paid like $15 a piece for them. Another yummy pear drink and oh so pretty!
Gigi, hi and welcome to you too. Muddling did the 12 weeks of Taxol, maybe she has some advice for you. Sometimes, you just have to listen to your body, you might not even feel like drinking! And another gal here just has MX too, Wigging.
Not as cold this morning, but starting late afternoon, the snow comes. Will be interesting to see how much we get. Some areas are calling for 2', and yes, that's feet! And more single digit lows.

That violet drink is beautiful! I think I should like to walk around with that at all times in 2019. I think it would be a nice fashion accessory!
Welcome Gigi! I had MX on 11/30 and implants on 12/7 so still recovering a bit as well, will know about chemo or not on 1/15.
el7277, welcome and I also enjoy a good Miller lite, especially at a summertime concert outdoors. Ah, looking forward to that season.
I am headed to the beach today for a bit, it’ll be mid 60s and foggy but I’m going to dip these ugly toes in the ocean and say goodbye to 2018 with all the joys and challenges that it brought.
Cheers, everyone!

Wiggy, I think we should all join you at the beach.....
We got our toes in the water, asses in the sand
Not a worry in the world, a cold beer in my hand
Life is good today Life is good todayAnd for all of 2019
Oh, and I like your idea of walking around with that drink in our hands all year!
Ya, that looks like us, eh?0 -
Looks like a good uplifting group to chat with..cheers!! I have expander in, have not started blowing up the flat tire yet. Ready to get this flipping drain out! We will start expansion soon though and appt 4-6 months we will do my last surgery which will be the Gummie implant!! Nice to meet ya'll. I too am a beach girl on the NC Coast! 🍺🥃🏖⛱

Mornin' Ladies,
Lori about the email thing, I'm sure with Joey's help I can do it, maybe even without his help LOL OK Yuk it up. U guys are getting some goofy weather, it's much warmer here. <oh my spell check went back on damn>
Welcome El and Gigi like Lori said hope u come back and share with us what u feel comfortable saying. We're pretty open here and try to just enjoy our DOTD <drink of the day> keeps us going---Oh when I was on Taxol and herceptin for 8 weeks before my deboobing I worked <missing some days> but I didn't feel that bad and so many people drank that I knew then. But back then I had to go back on it after my surgery, they really don't do that much now, well I went on other things for another 1 and 1/2 yrs so I didn't work any more then. But like I said newer things are better now that was 10 years ago. So maybe it won't be so bad.
And I'm so bad I stopped finally taking those meds and haven't seen my Onc on over 1 yr. But I do see my reg. Dr. every 3 months and she gives me all the tests I would be getting anyway And she's so so nice I like dealing with her, not so much the Onc.
Kim we're getting some icey chit falling from the skies, which isn't pleasant for anyone, so it looks like my kids are staying in tonite. So they bought some goodies and stay home and everyone will fall asleep about 10:00pm, I'm sure. When watching TV this last week they ha a lot of New Years eve themes and everyone never made it to midnite, well it kinda just happens. U and Sadie should try anyway.
Oh Jazzy prints the most beautiful pictures on FB of NM, I think she takes most of them but they look professional.
Oh a Leslie story <my daughter> with all the meds and working her hormones should be in check. Well she got her period this morning. So another operation is in her near future, I guess some aren't working and she still has her hole going on <another Ziggy time>
I hope some or all of u have something fun planned tonite it would be good for you. What about tomorrow, that would be good too. I have plans I just hope I can go---with my cousin....
I was just thinking what are some of the customs u have for this time of year---at midnite we used to have herring and liver pate' For yrs. and yrs.Sounds not so good to me now tho. LOL

Happy New Year's Eve, everyone. Welcome aboard, Gigi & El. Good to hear from you, Sue. Sad about your friend, Cami--hope her dementia doesn't impact her family as hard as it could.
Didn't check in here for awhile because I was busy shopping & with tech stuff--spent all day yesterday trying to find out why I couldn't hear my voice teacher on Skype and he claims none of his other students have that issue. Skype has gotten more erratic since Microsoft took it over, and it's nearly impossible to find a live human being for their tech support. Couldn't use their Live Chat because when I chose my problem category from the drop-down menu there were no live links to click! I finally had to dig up an MS customer svce. # (took going 30 page through the Skype Community Forum to find it). After 20 min. on hold, I reached a guy in India who informed me that desk "doesn't support Mac." He did give me a url, with instructions to pick "Accounts & Payment" from the drop-down menu, as MS and Skype do care about getting their $$. Got a live online tech, who went through all my settings, determined they were fine, and suggested I try Skyping another friend. My BFFs have Skype but have never used it, so I phoned on the landline and walked them through setting it up. I called them, they called me--and we heard each other loud & clear, both on my computer & iPad Pro (both wi-fi), old cellular iPad Mini (Verizon) and iPhone (AT&T).
So there's nothing wrong on my end. The tech suggests it could be a problem with my voice teacher's mic, webcam or poor signal. (He has xfinity, which every one of my friends who have it hate). Although he recently installed a "mesh" network, all that does is extend the incoming signal to more parts of the house. (His studio is in his basement). A mesh network can't boost the signal from the modem--it has to work with what it can get. Lousy signal coming in+mesh network=lousy signal extended to other rooms. Garbage in, garbage out. My teacher must be having the same problems with his other students even though he swears he doesn't. All week long we kept rescheduling lessons because I couldn't hear him. One of the things I most detest is having to structure my day around others' schedules (deliveries, repair people, etc.) and then having them blow it till I can't go out and run my errands because everything's closed, or even shower & do my hair. One of my New Year's resolutions is to take charge of and protect my own time--I can't afford to waste it any longer at my age and as a bc patient.
Sat. I went to a guitar-gathering party out in Palatine. It was tricky driving through the snow both ways, but worth it. It was also good to find out my hands and voice still work fine, and to see friends I hadn't in several years.
Tonight we're going to Cellars for dinner, hosting a table for 9 (down from 12). DOTD will be whatever wines we get for the table, as well as bubbly at midnight once we're all back here. All the snow is gone, replaced by lots & lots of rain. One of the errands I'm about to run is to get some waterproof shoes or boots so my feet don't get soaked en route to & from dinner!

Happy New Year everyone! May 2019 bring better times, good health and happiness to you all.

Mornin Ladies,
I hope everyone has recovered from the big party to celebrate and danced to the muuuusic♫. Oh well I got a text from Joey at midnite that was my party. we all pretty much fell asleep.
LomLin I loved my onc. from Elmhurst and when I was in the hospital at any time and they knew my Drs. one being my onc. they were so on the ball. Her name is Dr. Marilyn Evward--good luck. I liked her the first time I met her but tell us how ur doing.
Sandy I can't believe u. How do u know so much about puters. oh Wow. All right I know Ur younger than I am and I'm stickin' to it. Ur night sounded fantastic and with good friends tops everything. I'm so glad u felt good and u did get to go to Palatine...quite a ride too.U brought in the New Year the way it should be.
I'm waiting to see what Illi found in her hair this morning.
It's glumpy outside today, but I'm planning on going to my cousin's house so I hope I get there. Until she moved to Island Lake we never lived more than 4 blocks from each other, now she's 45 min. away with horrible traffic and none of my GF's drive anymore. CHIT
OK I'e got towash my head and get ready, it takes me so long nowadays and I don't look that great after either.

Good Morning, Loungettes!Happy 2019! Sadie and I got to watching disaster movies last night, happen to notice it was just after midnight, turned to the regular TV channels to catch a ball drop, and NOT ONE of the channels I get had a New Year's Eve show on!The closest was a local station's late night show, and I'm just not a big fan of potty humor, which this was, so I turned it off and we went to bed. Very exciting! The weather guessers were right on the money this time, the snow started just about midnight, there was 3 inches when I got up. Very wet, heavy stuff.
Gigi--Welcome to the HTL!I'm sure you'll get a lot of info here on the boards. I didn't have chemo, so really can't comment, but some of the others have and will be along to share their info and thoughts. Personally, I am not going to not live my life trying to prevent the return of something I have no control over.As to the treatment being "mild", is your onc talking from a medical point of view or a personal one? The two are quite a bit different, believe me!Pull up a bar stool and tell the Tenders what you like to drink after work. They'll stock up on it!
Goldie--you should check out a few of the scanner apps. The way they are set up I can listen in to just about anywhere in the US and parts of Canada and Mexico. Many are free, and since you can run them in the background there's no problem with the ads. Yes, Y2K--I remember that!I don't remember the gas mask thing, but I do remember the computer thing. The admins at the hospital I was working at then sent out a memo to all staff that no one should be drinking on New Year's Eve due to the "threat" of a massive computer melt down making it necessary to initiate the disaster response and call all staff in to work.Like the average nurse or aide or social worker could do anything about a computer issue! It was NOT a popular memo. And it was largely ignored. Funny to think back on it, though.
Wigging--that drink would make a great fashion accessory, wouldn't it?I wouldn't want to drink it, too pretty!Would need 2, one for show with the flowers and one without flowers to imbibe! Where do you live that dipping toes in the ocean is even thinkable in January??????
Goldie--Love that poem!!
Gigi--Love the 'blowing up the flat tire" reference! What flavor will you Gummie implant be? Sorry, couldn't resist asking.
Cammy--Glad your kids could stay in.Sadie and I did too, and even managed to be awake at midnight, even though it was by accident! Poor Leslie--getting her period is just not fair, not on top of everything else! Hope you get out with your cousin today!
Chi--computer tech problems can be so frustrating. Good to have waterproof shoes, cold, wet feet are NOT fun!
Hugs and kisses, Chrissy!Happy New Year!
Happy New Year, Teka!
Fizz the Season
Makes 1
1 ounce Aperol
1 ounce freshly squeezed grapefruit juice
2 ounces ginger beer
2 ounces brut Champagne
Add Aperol, grapefruit juice, ginger beer and brut Champagne to a rocks glass filled with ice. Mixing all of the ingredients together, give the cocktail a gentle but brisk stir with a bar spoon. (Be careful not to overdo it, 'cause you'll lose the bubbles.) Garnish with a simple grapefruit wedge, or achieve peak festiveness with a rosemary sprig-speared cranberry.
I actually saw Aperol on the shelf in the local grocery store booze aisle the other day!

Gigi, giggling over your flat tire comment. And yes, we try to be as uplifting as possible, but occasionally some of us fall down that rabbit hole, but get help from the wonderful gals here to get out.
Cami, not sure what meds you quit taking, I hope they weren't important ones. Not seeing your onc, I don't think is a big deal, as long as your regular doc is doing labs for you. HX for Leslie, I was so happy when I had mine at age 40, no more periods….HURRAY!
Sandy, sorry about the computer problems, sounds like you got it all worked out.
Hey Chrissy, always love seeing you. You are so popular on the boards here.
Lomlin, there is a thread titled "Illinois Ladies", you can ask around there for onc recommendations. I think it's important to have one you like, I love mine.
Teka, oh no on breaking the tooth! I get eggs from my neighbor, can't remember when I bought some. LOL on the butt nuggets.
Cami, that Joey is some special boy, texting you at midnight! I hope you make it out later today, let us know. Have fun girlfriend! LOL at waiting to see what Illona finds in her hair!
NM, we got snow too, about 10" I think, haven't been out to measure it. It's over in Jazzy's neck of the woods now in New Mexico, but suppose to flip and come back my way. Toes in the water, ass in the sand? It's a song. Fizz the Season, interesting cocktail, looks prettier than what the taste might be, beer and champagne….I don't know!
Here are some of the snow pics, DH had to go out and clean off the solar panels and fell….oops. Just wish it was caught on one our cameras!

Gigi, hi. When I had my 12 weeks of taxol, I didn't ask about drinking. I was in bad shape then, even before taxol, right after the novo dx. If I were you I'd ask the onc what he thinks. Your situation seems very different than mine :-) You might not even have a taste for it anyway. The sense of taste often goes awry. Mine did but it came back just fine within a couple of weeks of the last dose. You'll want to drink as much water as you can during those weeks. I hope they explained all about it but let me know if you have any questions. PM me if you want. Do you have a port?

Well, managed to score those boots just as the shoe store was closing--but by the time I left for Cellars the rain had turned to sprinkles. But the wind? Hairdo-ruining, umbrella-killing near-gales! Two of our party backed out due to not feeling well, but we had a nice dinner for 7. Started with an apple-cider martini (with house-mulled cider, bourbon & vodka). For the apps, we had Lapostalle Chilean Sauv. Blanc; with the entrees, 2017 Angeline Mendocino County Pinot Noir. Gordy & Leslie went back to her place after dinner. Back at our house, another friend joined us. We had coffee (some of the Seattle boutique roaster stuff Gordy gave me for Christmas), and then at midnight Mumm's Cordon Rouge. We barely finished the bottle. (Back in the day, NYE would require at least 3 bottles of bubbly).
Not sure about tonight. I brought half my entree home and don't know when Bob'll be home after work. (Recording the Rose Bowl for him--UW is his alma mater and my ex-employer). Not going out--it snowed again, iced up a bit, and more snow's on the way.

Happy, happy New Year - wishing us all health, healing, happiness (and maybe wealth?!)! Welcome to the newbies - you have found a cheerful, supportive group here!
goldie0827 - I never thought to go back and edit my profile so thank you for the heads up Bright and sunny here, but chilly, chilly - I love "glumpy" - your pics and poem are terrific!
Jazzy - I love that painting...
Teka - I saw those pics on FB today and sent them to a farm friend who delivers fresh eggs to me, they tickled me too!
Chi - Technology tends to be frustrating, especially if person at the other end thinks it is your "issue", we, too, caught up with old friends and it was a great evening...
NM - your Fizz the Season rocks! Hope you and Sadie enjoyed your Disaster flicks, I couldn't find the New Year countdown either
Take care each and everyone! Cheers Janice

Hmmmm, I went in and edited my profile and apparently it did not change?! Sheesh, I will try again tomorrow...

Good Morning, Loungettes!Happy Hump Day!A bit chilly today, 9 degrees with a bit of a breeze. Cold enough that all the wet stuff from New Year's Day has frozen up.The deck was snapping and banging all night long. It does that when the temp is dropping fast and it's freezing up. Makes for a noisy night! I don't know how Sadie sleeps through it.
Jazzy--beautiful!
Goldie--10 inches is a lot of snow! Looks pretty but creates havoc at times.Glad hubby didn't get hurt!
Muddling--glad you can help Gigi!
Chi--I hear you about not going through as much bubbly in one evening now as before!
Janky--I don't know why Sadie and I like disaster movies so much, but we do, and we had a great time with them the last couple of days!
♦ Café de Abejas ♦
2 parts Calvados
2 parts dark Crème de Cacao
2 parts strong coffee sweetened with honey
1 dash Angostura bitters
Shake all ingredients like your life depends on it and strain in to a cocktail glass. Decorate with a few roasted coffee beans.

Mud, glad you could offer some help to Gigi. That's what we are here for, right?
Sandy, good thing the "not feeling well" guests decided to decline. Don't need to make others sick.
Janky, the word "glumpy" is Cami's. She has some wild ones, let me tell ya! And thanks for trying to edit your profile. I know some people don't like to post where they live or a picture of themselves. We have so many new loungettes, I can't keep everyone straight with this pea brain of mine.
NM, our temps this morning are very similar to yours and getting more snow, but doesn't look like it's going to be much. Will have to wait until it gets light out to tell.
Cami, I hope you made it to your party!

Mornin Ladies
LOL Kim about shaken that drink, sounds good tho. Yea I like disaster , action and scary movies too. So u an Sadie can enjoy watching movies together too.I know u have chains on ur tires, but does that help in ice too???
Lori u and Jazzy have gotten so much snow, I don't remember u2 ever getting that much. The driving must be terrible for most people who aren't used to it especially. I saw the pics and it looked like Chicago, ecept so far we haven't had that yet.
Oh Gigi u can get a lot of help from the newbies especially here so take advantage of it. We just all hope u tolerate this well. Everyone is different, but ud like to be the positive everyone..
Janice it must have been nice being with old friends, I hope.
Sandy good thing u got those boots in time, I'm surprised u did and they were still in stock, Oh I bet u have a small foot. I member when I was in 6th grade for some strange reason the nun had us all stand up and tell our shoe size??? everyone was like a 4,5, even 6. I was an 81/2 but I said 8 and yep I went to confession for lying that week. Oh I wish my feet stopped there tho.
Well plans fell thru yesterday, my cousin's DH, had a terrible cold, of course she was trying to stay away but not that many people went So Nicky came here for a little while we had some champagne, I did have a sip, blah for me and 1/2 bottle was left. They did get a box of Omaha Steaks for Christmas so Marty madesome filets , I don't eat meat but they enjoyed them, so that was nice.
