Hey, Cammy--sorry to bump you into the pool! Lets swim over to the hot tub and soak and drink and gossip!

Cami- I wanted to also say to you I am sorry about Marty's GM and also about your cousin's situation. Sending you much love on this day after Xmas.
Janky- happy birthday!
Ill- chicken in your hair? Fess up girlfriend, what were you doing to have that happen? I know, what happens in NOLA stays in NOLA......
NM- I am with you and back to work today (ugh)

catching up but I love ilimae’s chicken in the hair the best! Wow! I bet the hurricane had a little something to do with that! Enjoyed the atheist holiday card as well! You all are the best!
Had a lovely Christmas Eve and Day...I made the partridge in the pear tree drink both days! Such good holiday flavors. Now, to try to get back to healthy eating and let these fake boobs settle in. Having a few sad thoughts about starting the new year with chemo and/or tamoxifen...bleh...but keeping in mind that I have 2 surgeries behind me. Still, a weird way to enter into a new year and definitely way different than any other. Ahhh, well. I don’t do resolutions either really, but some sort of mental mindset training is likely going to be in order this year.
Love to all!

Hope everyone had a merry Christmas. My BFF called me Monday morning to tell me she'd invited a guest (a former co-worker) who would otherwise be alone for the holiday (which is always stressful because her DH died on 12/27 three years ago). Said guest, though, is a vegetarian-pescatarian who doesn't eat cow's milk dairy, and my friend was not about to make a separate fish dish on top of the 10-lb brisket & fixings. She requested I bring a salad, so I made a Caesar from scratch with pecorino Romano instead of Parm-Regg (which is in the bottled dressings I have). Of course, said guest backed out at the last minute. But another guest (he was the officiant at my godson's wedding and made my BFF's mother-of-the-groom ensemble) came at the tail end of our meal, so he ate some of the salad. I brought baklava--so none of the other desserts were served. On the way there, I had the same Lyft driver who'd taken us to Big Jones the night before. Bob was working till 7, and went to the Oak Lawn Hilton for their Christmas prime rib dinner (leftovers from which he brought home and I supplemented with veggies tonight).
So tonight the DOTD was a 2011 wine called GR-174 from the Penedes region of Spain (which Leslie's parents gave us last June when they came north to visit). It's 40% Grenache (aka Garnaxa) and 30% each Carignane and Cab. Sauv. It was perfectly smooth and balanced, with nice soft tannins.

Oh Sandy I wish I talked wine, cuz it all sounds so good, besides what u eat. So the guest didn't show up??? I don't eat meat, not cuz I'm a veg. I just don't care for it except for olive burgers---good ones tho, not if I make it. But I can sit at a dessert table and eat everything on it.
Wigging I pray ur chemo is very tolerable for you, just member whatever bothers u tell the dr. They have so many things that can help you now and use any and everything they can give u. REMEMBER DON'T SAY NO.
LUBS U ALL

Good Morning, Loungettes!Happy Thirsty Thursday! Getting up to very cold temps this ayem, very BRRRRR! But the days are getting longer, the weather man says we've gained a whole minute since the 21st! Yeah!
Jazzy--yeah, ugh is how I feel dragging my butt out of bed this ayem. Not sure why I'm so tired this ayem, but there it is. Sigh.
Wigging--I bet the Partridge in a Pear Tree drink is very yummy! You are in an odd place going into the New Year, aren't you? I bet it feels really odd. You do have 2 surgeries behind you, that is progress. We'll be here to help this coming year!
Chi--with all the different dietary practices out there it's a wonder anyone has dinner parties at all anymore! I bet the baklava was some good.
Cammy--I'm with you, lets hit the dessert table first!
Sangrita

- 1/2 cucumber, peeled and roughly chopped
- several dashes of pepper sauce such as Cholula or Tapatio
- salt and pepper to taste

Hi ladies- just checking in to say hi and before I go to another fun day at the client site. Lots of the management gone and one of the directors is a bit panicky about something they should have had done before the holidays with new work from the client. I agreed to help with the client with the PM work and gave them a planning timeline that they needed for the statement of work that they have sat on. Now there is panic. Lots of managers and everyone gone this week. What does NM say? "Not my circus, not my monkeys." I am helping my team focus on what we need to get done on our current project which is what I am there for. The joy of working through the holidays. My prediction is they will come back next week expecting it all got done magically while they were gone. Maybe Santa's elves helped? Lol.
We got a nice storm yesterday with some good rain and snow. I missed the snow at the springs a day late, but they also shut down the freeway heading north so it was good I got home ahead of the storm. It will be a dry day today but a second storm is coming in next and more snow tonight into Saturday. The moisture is good for the parched land as well as good for all the ski resorts who had a bad year last winter.
Chi- it is good that someone invited that friend for the holiday even though they opted out. Probably still just too hard for her to socialize with the loss of her DH around the holidays a few years back. But I hear you on the food stuff, I have friends who want to rotate with dinner parties and don't have the time to entertain much when on my busy contracts. But also to your point, the food thing makes it hard. I don't eat beef and remember when I gave it up at age 20 back in the early 1980s, I used to just tell people if they served something with beef, I would just eat the rest (sometimes bring a dish for myself too). I have people now who are vegan, gluten free and lactose intolerant and some who are all three. You were a good soul to make something that person could eat. I love a good ceaser salad!
Wigging- it is hard to be in treatment during the holidays. I was there six years ago at this time, in between surgery and radiation treatment. I kept my dx private due to self employment and no benefit to me or my biz to share that news, but for the ones who knew, they just acted like life is the same. What are you doing for Xmas Jazzy? Resting between treatments. We get it here though and you try to enjoy this break time between treatments in ways that work for you that may just involve some chillaxin' with Netflix and some of the great cocktails you see on this thread. Wishing you the best for good health in 2019.
NM- the good news for us working ones this week is that it is a short week! I have a funny video I saw on FB I have to find and share here you will really enjoy (and think Sadie will too).
I see there is big weather everywhere and hope everyone stays safe during the holiday season with travel back or yet to come. New Year's is on the horizon now......

NM- this is for you and Sadie. I think it may give her ideas.....

Morning everyone, hope things are well with you all, I am great now that the birthday and Christmas festivities are done and I am in my own 'space'! Ladies, I had heard that blood oranges interact with Ibrance, can I safely assume that in a minimum quantity in a beverage, it is okay? A friend gave my a homemade sangria with blood orange in it, so wasn't sure about imbibing and it does look tempting!
Chi - that happened to me recently, I was asked to bring a vegetarian side, and said guest never arrived - go figure!
Wiggin - I wish you well in your next part of this journey, and listen to cami - if you need relief ask for it, there are so many meds that will help get you through this with much less discomfort...
NM - give Sadie good wishes from snowy Alberta, how is she enjoying the festivities?!
goldie - how are things with you and yours?
Jazzy - for some reason I did not realize that you got snow, though not too often I am sure! Stay warm and safe!
Wishing us ALL all the best for a new year that wiil be filled with happiness, healing and hope! Cheers Janice

Happy belated birthday Janky
About the blood orange, can you call the number on your Ibrance insert/instructions and ask straight from the source?

Illimae - Thank you! I will see if I can find the paperwork and call. It sounds like you did enough celebrating in New Orleans for both of us!! Love the 'chicken' hair I enjoy hearing the silly things that happen to us - we need to be able to laugh at and with ourselves and our sisters!!

illimae, 🍗🍹🍷!
Wigging, as NM said we'll be here to help you for your next steps. Well, I don't post a lot, but if I know something about a question I'll chime in and all the people here will.
Had a nice Christmas! Very happy my DS came and stayed a few days! Wow! I was sad when he had to leave but glad he came. We talked a lot and he helped us with things here in between the festivities. I stayed up so late each night, not wanting to miss a minute. I've been trying to rest up!
I hope 2019 will be kind to all of us and bring a cure for MBC, BC, and every other kind of C.

illimae- I am so glad that you had such a great time in NOLA for your anniversary.
Jazzy- the short work week is good. It will be hard to have to work a whole week. I am on a count down to when I stop work- I have 28 more months to go. Which is like 2- 1/2 years, but still a light at the end of the tunnel.
Chi - I think it was nice of your host and of you to offer vegetarian friendly dish. I had to look up the word pescatarian. I thought I would know more by the time I got this old, I found out I know very little and forgot a lot of what I did know. lol
NM- ha ha - if Sadie only knew how popular and wide spread throughout the lands her Sadie Stories are.

Bizarre day over here ladies. We have major outages all over the state (and in the west) with both Century Link (my home phone) and Verizon (my cell phone). My home phone was working when I left for the client site but my cell won't call out now.
The news is forecasting a blizzard for NM tonight into Saturday. Only seen this once before in my almost 23 years of living here.
I can't wait to see what happens next?
0 -
Jazzy - I will be watching the weather. Stay safe.
0 -
Got home okay after a few errands on the way. It is snowing but no big wind to create blizzard conditions. We will see!
Thanks Mistyeyes. Are you going to take the trip to Branson?

Good Morning, Loungettes!Happy TGIF day!Getting up to some snow, supposed to change over to rain later today, just lovely. Ah, well, such is life in Maine in the winter! Sadie says "hi" to everyone.
Jazzy--It would be really fun and interesting to see all the managers come back next week to total chaos cuz the work didn't magically get done while they were gone, wouldn't it? At least it is a short week.Oh my goodness, that dog body sledding is sooooo funny!
Janky--Sadie loves the holidays, she gets lots of attention from lots of people and is right in her glory!
Muddling--so glad you had a nice visit from DS!
Misty--If only Sadie knew, indeed! She'd love it!
Jazzy--The weather talkers are talking about a huge storm reaching from the gulf coast to Canada, you must be caught up on part of that? Be careful out there!
0 -
The storm is mostly around us today, but much more blizzard-ish to the north and south of where I live. I took a break on my way back from the dentist and before getting back on line for work here at home to a local nature center area. Lots of wintering birds and lovely winter landscape.

Blood oranges are safe to eat with Ibrance & aromatase inhibitors. Though their flesh is deep ruby red, it's from anthocyanins (which are also in purple grapes and cherries). Ruby red & pink grapefruit get their color from a different chemical which does interact with aromatase inhibitors (makes them less effective) and some blood pressure meds (makes them stronger, which could lead to dangerously low BP). Pomelos are ancestors of grapefruits, and tangelos are orange-grapefruit hybrids, so they're not safe with these drugs. The only actual orange that interacts with AIs & CDK4/6 inhibitors is the bitter, aka Seville, orange. They're too bitter to eat out of hand, but traditional English & Scottish marmalades are made with them--so if you like marmalade, go with the sweet stuff.
in the "drinking" dept., had a bit of a minor scare today. Yesterday, my 9-yr-old espresso machine (which gets professionally serviced biennially) was working just fine. Topped up the tank & turned it on this aft., and only the green "power on" light lit up--flickering. The red "boiler heating up" light, which usually comes on along with the green power light, didn't. Machine was cold and silent. Called the vendor and their tech said that it could either be the thermostat (those things have short lifespans but they're not that expensive) or the little float sensor in the tank that tells the boiler there's enough water in the machine. He said they're off till Wed., and will call me back then to set up a service call. (It's been 2 yrs. and it needs new gaskets and a thorough descaling--which is not a user-friendly procedure the way it is with Nespresso or Keurig machines, cheaper dual-purpose consumer espresso machines & pourover coffee brewers).
In the meantime, he said to take the long chopstick I use to measure the amount of water in the tank and jiggle it around, and maybe pour off some water. The pump worked, and I bled off about a couple liters of room temp. water, till the tank was nearly empty. Suddenly the red light came on, the machine began to make its normal gentle startup "hiss," and the boiler began to refill. Added more water, and 15 min. later the other green ("ready to brew") light came on. Brewed a shot of espresso, and all was well. (In the interim, I used the Nespresso and the Aeroccino, which froths oat milk quite nicely, to make a cappuccino). We'll see if it starts in the morning--I have a guitar gathering in the NW burbs at noon--haven't seen these friends in years. (We're online buddies on the Acoustic Guitar Forum).
The machine is basically built like a brick ****house, and its parts are more or less modular. Considering what I paid for it (and how much more it'd cost to replace it today), having it serviced periodically is worth every penny.
Gordy got back from Houston about 1 am last night--due to flooding & storms, his flight was delayed 4 hrs. (Could've been worse--a lot of flights were cancelled). Leslie is driving back alone, and I'm worried--her parents live in Katy, which is in an artificial flood plain (the county chooses to release the floodgates to protect downtown Houston). Hope they're okay, and that her car's not trashed. We got rain all last night, which turned to snow that didn't stick. Lots of wind, which died down when the snow showers stopped. More of the same tonight. Forecast for NYE is cold, soaking rain. (Some forecast models say that only the S. Side will get it).

ChiSandy, I live near the Houston/Katy border and while it came down hard, there’s been no flooding (maybe some low lying streets only, as far as I know). The local bayous are pretty full but the addicks reservoir can handle a lot.
It’s nice to be home and back to my routine, hope everyone is well 🙂

I'm home and just in time to get 3" of that white stuff! 10 degrees here this morning and in a couple of days suppose to get to 3 degrees as a low at night, and that will last for a few days as well. Winter has arrived in northern AZ!
NM, love those Loosyanna balconies with all the hanging plants, so pretty! I hope your foot is feeling better.
Misty, I think a little vacay with your daughter is a great idea!
Cami yes, I see your posts, I see and read everyones. I hope you had a great Xmas and were able to make it to Dans and have the gathering at your house and you and Joey got to make cornbread casserole. Oh darn, I see you didn't make it to Dans. I was wondering who "Kurt" was, but I think it's FF. For those that don't know, FF is short for F**k Face! What's an Olive Burger, burger with olives? I love green olives on a burger. Also, I am very sorry for the loss of Marty's GM and of course your cousin.
Janky, glad you got to enjoy a few (or a lot) of brewski's for your surprise b-day pah tee! Janky, you are on Ibrance? I thought that was something that was just for metastatic BC. How are you doing on it? That may be my next treatment plan and I will say, a tad skeered! I wouldn't think a little blood orange could hurt, but don't know that for sure...just guessing.
Illimae, I'm cracking up at the chicken in your hair! I hope you didn't eat all of those cherries, I think that would be worse than a hangover. As for me, I don't even like them.
Queen, lol at teeth marks in the chicken!
LDB aka memasue that don't know I call you LDB (lil doity butt), so glad you checked in and I do hope to see your more after the holidays. We are here for you chica!
Jazzy, as usual, you had a nice time at the hot springs. I think I said earlier, no NY resolutions for this girl. Glas to see you are not joining that "circus". I always have to take a second look when you post things happening in your neck of the woods, being NM. Of course I'm first thinking our Native Mainer. As posted above, we got about 3 inches of that storm, but no outages for us, as we are completely solar, just had to brush the snow off all the panels.
Wiggy, wishing you all the best with upcoming treatments. What chemo are you doing? Not fun, but it is doable. For whatever reason I never did get sick. The pear drink must have been good to have made it 2 days in a row!
Sandy, love me some baklava, but haven't had any. Did you make it? I also enjoy ceasar salads....yum! Good info on the drug interactions. hour delay for Gordy...oy vey! Hoping all is good with Leslie and her car.

Good Morning, Loungettes!Happy Saturday! Sadie and I are listening to the scanner and all the reports about cars off the road and calls for Public Works to get out and sand, and roads closed due to ice and accidents. There's even one call for a wrecker to come pull the first responding wrecker back onto the road! And one ambulance call for a wrecker driver that fell on the icy road when he got out. The wrecker drivers are really getting beat up on today.
Jazzy--love the cloud formations in the distance!Great landscape shot.
Chi--sounds like the espresso machine takes a lot of care and maintenance! But probably very worth it for the quality of the drinks. Gotta love the crazy weather this time of year.
Illi--welcome home!Glad you've got no flooding!
Goldie--the foot is feeling fine, now that the bruising has faded! I'm going to cancel the follow up appointment, the podiatrist said I didn't need to come in if the shot was working.NOLA was beautiful when I was there.

Morning DahhhLinks,
I can't believe the weather some of you are having. We are cold (30o) in the morning, barely 50o after noon. But that is nothing compared to the mid/east states. Ya'll try to stay warm.
NM - a minute is a minute, so much better than losing it. Hope you and Sadie are staying warm.
Sandy - very sweet of you to make something additional for 'said guest'. U done really good!
Lowee - r u away for tx, I think I read that somewhere, jes stay safe and warm. Muah!
I read a few pages, where has Darling Dara been? I hope she is OK.
Wigging - You'll get back to ur routine and healthy eating in no time. Hope you find a reason to smile/laugh every day. Really helps, prayers going out to you.
Ill - Loved the atheist card…LOL.
Cami - Yeah "What are u talking about?" LOL Miss ya and you hold your good times and memories close too.
Hi to Janky, Jazz and anyone else I'm missing.
Lubslubslubslubslubs to all and a HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

OK I lost a whole post I was almost finnished GRRRRRRRRRRR. where do they go, can I find it somewhere.
So this will be short.
SusyQ I' soooooo glad to see u, I always pray for u and it's nice to hear from u. U know I haven''t even seen Dara on FB, altho I don't go there as often as I used to. but still. No Dara.
Snow in the west wel I think it's west, really tough to see, cuzz right now we've had mostly rain.Less snow than Jazzy or Kim. Kim good thing ur home today.
Lori glad ur home and safe. I hope ur feeling good.U really are on the go a lot. And good for u.
Now I really forgot what everyone wrote cuz I usually only member the first of the posts and is still not knowing how to double screen like some of u do. I'm glad I can use any part of a puter.
Yesterday we went to my cousins, but we're at the point that anyone who has a husband has to drive now. N one of the girls <including my sister> so we tried to get rid of them, chit they wouldn't leave we like to be alone like usual---having men around is mixing up our conversations they like to include themselves, we don't really care. Sounds mean but ll these years that's what we've done. Oh sometimes they were included when we'f make a night of it for dinner, but rarely---they all like each other again who cares. One of m friends has been diagnosed with Altzeimers <sp> It's weird cuz she was best as speaking with all of us then the rest of us. We were dragging way behind her---WHAT MUST WE HAVE???
This is a very confusing week, I thought it was New Years Eve, didn't realize it was Eve, Eve, Eve. OH well it's still a name for today.
I wish everyone here a very Nice Saturday.
LUBS U ALL

This is my brain off drugs, the reason I'm so confused.

MemaSue- I am glad to hear from you and you sound A-okay despite all you are dealing with right now. Sending much love to you and wishing you a better year ahead with lot of love, good health and tasty cocktails!
Dara got a new job back in her original career sometime in the fall and think she is busy with that. She pops in once and awhile but not in awhile. I am on FB with her too but have not seen her there either? My hope is she has been busy getting back into her work groove and enjoying the holidays. Cami continues to yell out to her in all caps here when she can......

Hi all, you are all so busy and it's fun to read about the travels and parties.
Goldie, I've been on Ibrance since March. If you have Q's about it, PM me anytime.
We're going to have a quiet NYE, but that's typical for us the last several years. I'd like to think I'll stay awake until midnight, but not too likely! We'll have some bubbly though, even if it *is* early!

Good Morning, Loungettes! Happy Sunday Funday! Still cold here, but it is winter in Maine after all. The heat pump is doing wonderfully keeping the house warm without using very much oil.The electric bill has gone up, but I knew to expect that and the increase is manageable, much more manageable than the bill for filling the oil tank! Sadie is still being a very good bed warmer and lots of entertainment in between times. She says "Woof" to everyone.
Mema--Sadie and I are staying warm, thanks. It's been cold, but not as cold as it could get, so I'm trying not to complain!
Cammy--The rain the other day melted off most of the snow on the ground. Then things froze and the ground is as hard as, well, ice. If we're going to have cold lets at least have some pretty snow to look at! So annoying of the husbands to not take the hint and leave the ladies to the girl talk! And what horrible news about your friend. So sorry to hear that. It is a confusing week, isn't it?
LOL, at the brain on and off drugs!
Muddling--nothing wrong with a quiet NYE!Sadie and I often celebrate early, then catch the replays of the balls dropping and other pyrotechnics the next day.Much easier on the body than staying up late just to see pretty lights!

NM, so cool that you have a police scanner, we had one in the house when I was younger. I too am happy that the days are getting longer! Glad you and Miss Sadie are staying warm and the heat pump is working well. We do have a propane fireplace in the bedroom, but like your oil, propane is expensive too. Woof Woof back to Sadie!
Hey Sue, no not having treatment, we were in CA visiting hubby's DD and her family. I do have to have scans in January. I haven't been to the doc or had labs in almost 3 months! My bad!
Cami, glad you got to get out and enjoy some family at your cousins house. Do you post from your phone or a computer?
Jazzy, I too hope Dara is doing well. She never was much on FB, but I still miss her and many others.
Mud, we have a quiet NYE too, just another day. We do have a bottle of bubbly as well. Has Ibrance been your only treatment?
Very cold here this morning, a whopping 2 degrees and going to get below zero in a day or so, but will start to warm up in a about a week. Also going to get more snow, maybe up to 8", but we'll see!
Hmmmm, brandy and champagne....sounds yummy!
