Oh well here I am, I hope remember me.

A few days from Christmas and I can't believe it. How does this happen fast.

You all sound pretty good with happy plans for the holiday, good company, good food an d drinks galore and I am drinking something this year, it only seem right

Lori I hope u get to read this but I'm sorry about ur mom and anyone one else going thru this. It just breaks ur heart. I was super licky my parent didn't have any of that but my mom sffered alot and I hated that too.

I'm sorry I don't remember everything everyone wrote just loads of drinks which magically brought me here this morning. And petrified rocks and they don't look that afraid to me. But each his own. And all the teaveling so many of u are going to do enjoy it all, I'm sure it will be fun.

HAHAHA Jazzy u always get the men/boys that need u some how. but I can see why. It's nice to mentor makes u feel good.

Christmas will be all goofy this yr, Marty's grandma is now in hospis in the hopital and they said anytime and she's the nice one in that family. I talk about my cousin a lot and now they said there is nothing more they can do for her so I spend as much time talking or being with her, she's amazing she still worries about everyone else. Christmas morning I'm going to Dan;s and she should be there and in the afternoon Leslie wants t have just a few people over and we'll just have beef sandwiches and appetizers and dessert for a few hrs.Much less than usual but something, my grandaughter will be here so Joey will be happy. Trying to do something.

but I am going to make a cornbread casserole, Joey offered to help me so it should be fine. Jodie will make some good stuff she usually does. I want to buy frozen strawberries or peaches to put in my wine instead of ice. Nothin g fancy just sounds good to me.

Dan was here a couple of nites this week, mostly playing chess on his phone, but I don;t care he finds it relaxing here and the business is going crazy so he needs to just relax.

I just wish everyone has the best Holiday u can possibly have. Cjuz a new year is coming with hope and maybe miracles.

    LUBS U ALL

    Greetings all!

Jazzy I love your 'happy always'! Thank you for a new phrase :)

Today my family had a surprise birthday party for me and it was a total surprise! Truly one of my best (maybe even my best) birthday ever! Actually December 24th when I turn 65 and though they tried to pull it off on Monday only a very few peeps could make it so today it was!!

cami - no margaritas, but lots of beer (probably way more than is good, but hey seriously??!! I totally enjoyed every glass)

I wish you all a very Merry Everything (another new phrase ty) and a wonderful healing, healthy new year filled with good things! Cheers Janice

Good Morning, Loungettes! Happy Sunday Funday!Looks like I missed yesterday, not sure how I managed that. Cold and dreary yesterday, cold but sunny today. Gave myself a long weekend and am not working until after Christmas, so I am having a lovely leisurely time here at home with Sadie. Saw the podiatrist Friday, got a steroid injection for the neuroma in my foot, now it hurts more than ever! I'm hoping it will calm down in a day or two but I'm not so sure it will. I've got a follow up appointment in a few weeks if it doesn't.

Thanks, Illi! Can't wait to see your pics!

Misty--The feeling of cold is terribly subjective! Here in Maine 40 degrees is considered cold in the fall, warm in the spring. It all depends on what you've gotten used to before.I haven't been to Branson but I've heard about it, supposed to be really nice but I'm not a country music fan so I don't see the attraction. But I love how others have loved it! Wish you were here to share some mulled wine.

Jazzy--wish I was sitting in a hot spring!Hope you are enjoying your soak!

    Karen--great to see you!

Cammy--sorry to hear your Christmas will be goofy this year. Praying Marty's grandmother is comfortable and peaceful. Keep spending time with your cousin. Nothing wrong with a quiet/smaller Christmas get together. It's the people that are important, not the food and entertainment. Frozen fruit in wine is a great way to go! Glad Dan hasquiet place to go to recharge.

    Love the birthday advice!

Merry Christmas to you, too, Jazzy!

    LomLin--raising a glass to you!

Janky--wow, a surprise birthday party, what fun!

Let's see where are we with the 12 Drinks of Christmas?

Happy birthday, Janice! And praying for your cousin's comfort & peace, Cami.

Had a little "90+" chardonnay Thurs. night with trout, but after I finished the food I didn't finish the wine. I'm looking more & more at wine as a food rather than a beverage these days. Last night went to a friend's Christmas Eve Eve Eve party and had some bourbon-spiked eggnog over ice. Then we had early Christmas Eve chez nous because Gordy was staying over in order to catch a 7am flight to Austin this morning--so we exchanged presents and ate fruitcake. I made a cocktail from St. Germain (1/2 oz), rum (1 capful), 3 oz. spicy dry ginger beer (unleaded) and topped it with seltzer. Added a Luxardo cherry (the kind hipster cocktail bars use for their Old Fashioneds instead of maraschinos) and a little of the syrup it was packed in.

Trying a new restaurant just over the line in Rogers Park tonight, and doing the Creole "reveillon" dinner at Big Jones tomorrow night so Bob can get to church afterward. (Although "reveillon" was originally a wee-hours thing after midnight Mass so that famished diners could break the fast they'd been on since before Communion). Bob's working Christmas Day till at least 9pm. BFFs are making a brisket (they'll have BBQ'ed it all day in their smoker in the parking lot of their building), so I'll bring a big winter-weight Zin or Rhone Ranger-type red. Bob wants to go to the Fireside at 10 or 11pm, so I will sit and watch him eat (I'll still be stuffed).

Good Morning, Loungettes! Happy Christmas Eve! Sadie and I are enjoying not going to work on a Monday, will spend the day with Mom and Dick and a couple of their friends tomorrow. The wife of that couple has Alzheimer's and doesn't do well with crowds with lots of activity and movement, so they are going to spend a quiet day with us. Sadie will love all the attention she'll get!

Chi--yummy sounding drink you mixed up!

Kim u cold is even worse than ours sometimes, that's why we think oh 40 spring is in the air. It's great u'll be with ur mom and Dick. And of course Sadie will love every minute of it. And lovin' all the drinks, of course but Sandy is catching up with all of her ideas for just wine alone...

I guess Lori is off for now but I always wish her good days.

I even called my sister Lucky <our dog> yesterday, but she truly understands. She and my BIL came over yesterday <loved every minute of it> and we were talking hospitals and she talked about a Dand C but she couldn't member after D, so she looked at me for help and I said a DUI then we realized that was stupid, so I do this all the time. I was so happy they came over we all LOLed a lot which we all need.

Well Marty's GM passed away this morning sad time even if u know it's coming. She really was a very nice woman. But it was actually peaceful.

Karen it's so nice to see a post from u.I wish all happiness for ur Holiday.

And Kim ur pain better be much less today, I hope the shot takes hold.

    Chicken in ur hair hahaha.

I'm actually working today so the other guy can take off, these are rough calls cuz for the most part they are all emergencies and I'm still a sucker most of the time. But tomorrow taking no calls. But Dan said he'll listen to the messages, talk about sucker.

Sandy ur quite the girl about town. U've really got ur days filled up and it all sounds great, well the part about Gordy leaving isn't but u have everythin else going for u and Bob Working isn't so great, well maybe not so great but I'm sure u'll enjoy urself---the planning of ur drinks crack me up, but wonderfully cracks me up.---Here's a song for u, any tune----HANUKKAH, HANUKKAH SANDY MAKES IT RANDY ☺♫Smile---Do people still use randy, I don't know, That was self written, u think ???.

DARA, DARA DARA WHERE R U???

SUSYQ I HOPE WE HERE FROM U.

Happy Birthday sweet sisters! OOOPS - it's my birthday ;);) So far 65 is great, having lots of calls and messages and I am just lapping them up. I have always loved birthdays and now more so than ever.

I will probably be incommunicado for the next while spending time away with family and friends so just in case, I do want to wish you and yours a very Merry Everything and a happy, healing, healthy New year - may all our wishes come true (mos of us probably wishing and praying for a cure)! Cheers! Janice

Cami, thanks for extending Hanukkah by two weeks--so I have an excuse to eat more potato latkes!

Last night was Festivus. No grievances to air at each other, too old for feats of strength, no pole (no pole-dancing either). So we went to dinner at Onward, a new restaurant that opened in the hotel across from the Loyola campus. (It's independent of the hotel, though). On-street parking was plentiful, as Loyola is off until after New Year's. Service was slow, and so was the kitchen (but great food takes time). Sparkiing water was free (nice touch). We were seated by the window--which featured an enclosed mini-fireplace. (Passerby kept touching it to see if it was warm. Food was great (see the Dinner thread). Had a cremant d'Alsace rosé which worked with all courses.

Bob just left for Mass, so he'll be good & hungry for the "reveillon" dinner (we'll take a rideshare so we can avail ourselves of the beverage pairings) tonight. I just finished my leftover salmon from last night. Yum....

So far, I really like it here, I’m a fan of old architecture, so it’s a feast for the eyes. And the food, soooo good! Tonight’s dinner was at a bistro that had a bacon happy hour, you get a basket like it’s a bowl of bar peanuts!

    Love it, Ilona! Happy anniversary!

Our alco-fest at Big Jones' Creole "Reveillon" dinner tonight was a "Battery Punch" (brandy, rum, gin, white wine, black tea and house-made loquat cordial) as an aperitif; Galda brut cava, with our appetizer & salad; a 2016 Nebbiolo from the Langhe with the goose gumbo; and "Freetown Punch" (house-made Damson plum cordial, bourbon, cognac), after bread pudding & ice cream dessert.

Second dessert (actually, bedtime snack): a couple of TUMS Ultra.

Hi ladies- happy end of Xmas for those celebrating. Time away at the hot springs was divine as always. Great soaking, treatments, a yoga class, time by the bonfire, slept like a log, started the new book I got for Xmas, and more. Met some interesting people along the way which I usually do up there at Xmas time. I left this morning around 11 a.m. so I would have some time to unpack, do laundry, get caught up on a few home things as I have to head back to work tomorrow for 3 very busy days (that will likely have 5 days of work packed in to less). I am already looking forward to the next weekend.

Will write more this weekend but wanted to get on to the next holiday and start working on the New Year thing. Okay, fess up, what are your new year's resolutions?

    Happy day after Ladies,

Wow it goes by so fast, after so much going on before.

Illi see there are cards for atheists. Leave it to u to find one.

Jazzy really good u got away and of course u'll be super busy now, but as u said another holiday arou nd the corner so just rest. And aha u met some new people. Interesting.

Well it was quiet here, I didn't go to dan's but neither did my cousin witch I really feel bad, I did think maybe she would come here too. Her son and his wife came over <they're in their 60:s so not kids anymore> and Jodie . Kurt and my GD---so Joey was happy and notice I didn't call him FF cuz it was Christmas. But we did expect more so had lots of food, well they all went home with food. And we did do some laughing. I did put a little makeup on but wore my PJ:s, well I was comforable. Marty did most of the work and I dd make a corbread casserold <with Joey> and I even cleaned up some stuff. I fell asleep about 7 and barely moved til this morning, but itwas all worth it.

Martys off the next 3 days for grief, so I'm glad he'll be home and then he can bee with his family too.

Hope u all are recovered nicely and I did hae a kittle orange vodka mixed with something, but not much--it was good tho.

    LUS U ALL

Good Morning, Loungettes!Happy Day After Christmas! Is this Boxing Day in some places? Back to work day for me.Sadie and I had a really nice day with Mom and Dick and Gloria and Bill. They brought their little dog who disagreed with Sadie as to who was going to be top dog in the house, so they had to take turns visiting in the house and being banished to the car! It was funny but VERY noisy. Mom made a great dinner even if the chocolate pie didn't set up so we had chocolate pudding instead!

Illi--sounds like you are having a blast in NOLA!Piece of fried chicken in your hair? Hmm, must be a story behind that one!

Mema!!!!! I can imagine things have been pretty crazy for you. Glad you could poop in and say Hi!

Cammy--I hear you about not remembering things. There is a bit of a difference between D and C and DUI, though!Good for a laugh, though! So sorry to hear about Marty's grandmother's passing. Glad it was peaceful. My foot feels much better now that the bruising from the shot has cleared up. It only hurts it if I walk barefoot a lot, and since it's a bit chilly on the floor for bare feet that's not a big issue right now! I'd say the shot is working well.

Janky--Happy 65th!!! Enjoy all the "old age" discounts you now qualify for!

Chi--sounds like a really nice restaurant. Sparkling water is a really nice touch!

Queen--I wondered about teeth marks in the chicken, too!

Illi--a BACON happy hour?? Wow, that is just so yummy sounding! The architecture there is wonderful, isn't it? A COUPLE extra cherries? LOL!!!!Happy Anniversary!!

Chi--LOL at the TUMS second dessert!

    Cammy--you are so all inclusive!

    Illi--YES!Exactly!

Jazzy--The trade off for holidays is theshort week syndrome, with a week's worth of work to be done in usually 3 to 4 days. New Year's Resolutions? Hmm, need to think about that.Don'tusually do that, but maybe this year I will.If I can think of a good resolution.

Cammy--sounds like you had a really comfy Christmas Day! I love days I can stay in my PJs. Please give my condolences to Marty.
