Good Morning, Loungettes!Happy Twofer Tuesday! We had our first Thunderstorm of the season last evening. I figured the first loud boom would spook Sadie, who was outside in the yard, but she didn't even react to it! She reacted a little later when she was inside and the rain started coming down in absolute buckets.
Cammy Cat--Very good point!
Goldie--Mom did get some visit time in, and due to a quirk of fate, it's both sides of the family. My Mom married my Dad, Mom's sister married Dad's nephew. The cousin who was visiting, her mom was my mom's sister, her father was my cousin by birth and uncle by marriage. It's a tad crazyto think about at times! Sadie did have a very good time, the entire family is dogcrazy. Hope the results for DH are just skin cancer if it must be positive, and not melanoma. At least skin cancer is slow and easy to control.
Cammy--you actually have to go to an office?????Oh, my, goodness! You poor thing. The wedding sounds like it was quite the experience! I'm giggling a bit a the guest yelling "fire" when the sparklers came out! That's the kind of thing that becomes a family story. Sounds like there was lots and lots of food!
Janky--I can imagine the relief of the peace after having all that family fun going on!Happy Victoria Day!I'm looking forward to the Memorial Day long weekend coming up.
Karen--AMAZING!!

Janky- thanks for that. Another BCO sister friend mentioned Patriots day and I wondered if that was right but did not look it up. I used to work in Massachusetts once and they have a Patriots Day. So Victoria Day is a holiday to celebrate Queen Victoria, I learned something new today!
Cami- it sounds like you had a nice time at the wedding sister. I think no one knows better how to eat than the Italians. Food food and more food!
Karen- we have snow around NM too, out west in Gallup, Santa Fe on north and the mountains all got it. It was cold and rainy here yesterday and did not make it above the mid 40s, down in the mid 30s waking up. My gardens will be liking the rain but this cold won't be good for a few things. My friend who I was going to visit up there last weekend texted me a photo from her property very similar to yours. And the news here says Purgatory Ski Resort in Durango is opening for Memorial Day.
Goldie- we definitely have erratic weather right now. My east coast friends tell me it has been raining solid for five weeks back in that area and they are rain weary. I think we are going to have a cooler summer sister. But I hope it is not like this the whole time, feels more like early March than end of May? The news says we are going to be in for a cold and windy week.
NM- it sounds like you had a fun weekend visiting family and Sadie had some fun too. Good to hear you are hearing sounds of spring, at least with t-storms. My guess is you are getting a lot of the rain I hear about back east too?
I am up early as I have to be in for a project kick off meeting. My project is taking a bit longer to get going because the docs have a lot of questions around one of the platforms and been closing the gap on that. The guy who runs the area I am working for resigned last week (he was the one who offered me the work). You have heard me talk about this healthcare org and it's instability in the past, so nothing surprising about it and just trying to help them with this work they need my help with. I like the project they gave me, and just do my thing and go at the end of the day. I am meeting with the IT groups this morning and am sure it will be an interesting conversation.
Well, we made it through Monday, onward to Tuesday!

Mornin' ladies,
Janky is sounds like u do need a wee vacay from vacays and just rest a while. So u have 1 son that lives near you, that's good.
Kim I'vebeen in a haze---u seem like ur weekend was fun with ur family and without a doubt Sadie not only had a good time but gave everyone else a good time.. Ur first Storm, WOW we've been getting them a couple times a week.
Janky I always forget u live in Canada so of course u have some different holidays, well some I think. And Victoria's holiday must be from a Queen or well someone named Victoria.<Secret, maybe>
Lori was yesterday a Dr. day??? Cu I know when u guys go it's an all day thing. How can u stand that I've never been more than 3 miles from any dr. I'm so spoiled.
Sandy how's ur back. BTW I was thinking about u when I took a Lyft to the wedding. I never took one before and he comes with a Cadillac Escalade <or something like that> and I needed my step stool to get in. I step on it and get 1/2 way in then someone places their hands on my butt and pushes me in the rest of the way. I have no pride. And I really talk to much, by the time we got there I knew everything about this man, his life, how old his kids were, where he lived and he had this as a part time job. I brought my tiny scissors with me, I couldn't fit my screwdriver , my purse was to small. Screwdriver is much better than a knife, chit I was a little scared, but it was only a 10 minute ride and the guy who took me home was just as nice, oh I found out everything about him too.
Kiim I didn't have to go to the office yesterday, Dan thought it would be to much after my weekend...he babies me sometimes. I was still so tired. I'm such a mess it's recockulous.
I'm supposed to get my new puter soon, but I'm so used to this one, Dan said it just seen it's day and I'll get the touch screen He might put the screen on the wall somehow, but I don't want anything on my TV, that's my personal pleasure and I'd figure out a way to screw that up. Oh being touch he'd put in on the side of me and I could pull it toward me for the screen. Blah OK I have to set up now so hoping everyone has a great day.

There u r Jazzy, Jeez ur weather is worse than ours. How could that possibly happen. Sounds like ur busy busy busy as usual. Just take care.

Cami, it's my DH that we are waiting for results on the skin cancer. They said a week to 10 days. How did things go with your trip to the office? And the wedding sure sounded like a big fancy one for sure. I hope there are pictures to see.
Janky, you have been super busy, so time to rest, relax and recoup for sure.
Karen, we got hit with snow yesterday too, practically blizzard like conditions and the temps dropped to 20 with the wind chill, 32 degrees this morning. I sure hope my garden is ok.
Oh my NM, that was a mouthful in regards to your family, not even going to try and wrap my head around that one! DH see's the derm every 6 months and they have said this will be an on going thing, that spots will always be popping up. This one is on his back, he hates when they are on the top of his head, which they froze half a dozen spots there on this last visit too, but biopsies needed for the head.
Jazzy yes, we have been windy for a few days now, and now that cold is setting in....I no likey! I hope your garden will be ok as well.

Good morning all! Sounds like life has been full of family experiences for everyone recently. How wonderful, I hope!?!?! This is Birthday week. My youngest son’s BD is today while my husbands is Thursday. We will celebrate both tonight at a wonderful local restaurant. I have presents, a cake and candles for all. I love to make a fuss for birthdays even though the participants are probably too old (36 and 69) for most of the shenanigans! I am taking my husband to a state park and a small town here in S.C. We will go to the Button Man museum and see the Lizard Man exhibit. Only in South Carolina!
DH and I will go to Pawleys Island the end of this month to spend some time at the beach with friends. I am looking forward to relaxing and enjoying the company.
I am reading a really good book, Women Rowing North by Mary Pipher. She discusses the challenges of aging for women. She can get a little loosely-goosey, but most of what she says hits home.
Hope people are weather safe! Cannot believe it is still snowing in the mountains. I grew up in “Tornado Alley” and remember how awful the storms can be. It is hot and dry here. The humidity is starting to creep in. It makes things pretty miserable during the summer.
Take care all

cami - I forget lots of things, even when someone has just mentioned it, my mind knows I heard something interesting, then struggles to remember what it was!! How was your day at the office - imagine having to show up at work?! The wedding food sounds amazing, yummmmm! I have 1 son, DIL and their 2 kids, as well as my DD and her son that live nearby, so very nice for us indeed! My oldest is in Sarasota, FL, and 1 near Brisbane, AU - lots of places to travel, just need energy and money...
NM - I so enjoyed yesterday afternoon's peaceful time - I am thinking Sadie might be up for some R & R too! Son and DIL arrived home and resume their lives, albeit painfully for the next wee while.
karen - we have to love spring in the Rockies, snow whenever it is least expected!
goldie - I do indeed need a mini vacay from vacation! We are awaiting results on my dad, who has had skin cancer, they just removed and biospsied a lump behind his ear, results Friday. Hoping it is still the melanoma and not spread to his skull - waiting for results is long!! He too, abused his body back in the day, shirtless in the sun and all of that nonsense.
JCS - Family was fun and fabulous for sure! Enjoy your birthday week and then Pawley. The next time we head to Brunswick, GA to see family, we plan on visiting SC as well, never really been there and it seems like a lovely spot.
Wishing us all a happy, healthy rest of the week, till the US long weekend begins - Cheers!

Mornin Ladies.
Jazzy what a pic. The sky looks unreal. I've rarely seen those kind of skies. Is Ominous the word I want, well can it fit.
Lori I was talking about ur DH,I just know how difficult waiting is. Again glad u had a hard time with Kim's family, Jeez I read it twice and thought who's related to whom. Wow the weather is crazier than usual, especially by u gals. What's going on.
JC u sound like ur having fun and when u said u were going to Pauley's Island at the end of the month, THAT'S THE NEXT WEEK, it's almost here. Good for u.
Janky I know I'm getting worse and now words don't come to me as easily. And I was such a wordsmith, yea right. Well I would guess no one else notices actually. Maybe that's why I swear so much, those words don't leave my mind.
Oh I have to wake up and get my coffee.

JCS, Happy Birthday to your DS and DH. You have some of the best scernary on your little escapes.
Janky, good luck to your dad on his results and let us know. It's called chemo brain! It's real! I've been known to forget what I was talking about mid sentence...talk about embarrassing!
Jazzy, that's pretty much how it looked here 2 days ago. It's 35 degrees this morning!
Cami, who has pictures of the wedding. I wanna see!
Gigi hi! Glad to see you back and hear that things went well. Take care of yourself and DON'T OVER DO IT. You will be sorry and take even longer to heal.
NM, did Sadie hit the snooze button too many times! I'm used to having coffee with you and Cami in the mornings.

Good Morning, Loungettes!Happy Hump Day!Going in later today, setting up for the big Skills Fair running all day tomorrow, may not be back on line here until Friday. Sadie was very confused at my sleeping in today! Apparently she can tell time, but not read a calendar. We'll work on that together.
Morning, Cammy Cat!
Jazzy--Patriots Day is a Mass/Maine (Maine used to be part of Mass) holiday to commemorate the first battles of the American Revolution, at Lexington, Concord and Menotomy. It's also observed in Connecticut, Wisconsin and North Dakota of all places. When I was growing up and in college it was a Community Service day, with lots of spring cleaning type projects being done by volunteers. Now it's pretty much about the Boston Marathon. Yup, getting way more rain than is fair. Everyone went nuts yesterday, the sun came out for a few minutes! Now if only it would stay for a while. Sounds like the project is moving forward. That's a good thing!
Cammy--it was a pretty good first thunderstorm of the season! Hoping that means the cold, wet, chilly weather is on its way out. I think you will like the touch screen computer once you get to see it and use it for a bit. They really are convenient! And good for Dan for babying you, you deserve it!
Goldie--Sounds like your DH is going through what my Mom is, regular derm appointments, usually with the removal of one or two spots, the occasional biopsy. So far for Mom it's been all plain old too much sun exposure skin cancer on her face and head. It's just a regular part of life for her nowadays.
Librarian--A beach vacay sounds like such fun! The very idea of tornadoes terrifies me, glad I don't live in Tornado Alley! Happy Birthday to all the birthday people!
Janky--Sadie seems to have recovered from the weekend. But now there is a new house going up on the lot next door, so she is VERY busy supervising all that activity, and that makes for a very pooped pup in the evening!
Jazzy--that sky looks ominous.
Cammy, stop teasing the poor kitty! Don't try to figure out my family, just do like everyone else, shake your head and move on!
Hey, Gigi! Glad treatment has gone well for you! And glad that recon is done and seems to be doing well, too!
Goldie--Sadie and I actually turned the alarm off this ayem!Going to be a long day at work tomorrow, so need to make today short to keep the hours right.
Tornado: Create a Twister in Your Glass
Ready to create a twister in your glass? Give the Tornado a try. It's like a Long Island, but when it's stirred up, you get the effect of flying debris.
Ingredients
- 1 tsp Sugar
- 2 oz Cola
- 1 oz Rum
- 1 oz Tequila
- 1 oz Vodka
- 1 oz Whiskey
Steps to Make It
- Stir the liquors in a collins glass.
- Add sugar and stir again (but not too well).
- Add ice, then cola.
- Stir three times and serve with a straw.

cami - I love kittens face!! Back in my Librarian days I was a real wordsmith as well, now chemo haze has kicked in...
Gigi - welcome back so to speak, glad all is going ell in your world! I have been postponing recon, as I will have the diep flap, and just not sure I want to go through surgery right now - just waiting for cataract appointment May 28, and want that done asap as my eyes are not the greatest!
jazzy - whoa stormy clouds! That is a really neat pic, though I would not want to be there when it bursts.
goldie - if only we knew then what we know now about sun exposure - my hubby as a few spotty issues going on as well, though he still does not take as many precautions as he should - I will post dad's results for sure.
NM - will there be wet, wonderful mud from the construction next door? Sadie may enjoy a 'mud' bath or 2, in between her supervisory duties. Enjoy the Skills Fair and catch up when you can!
Happy Hump Day all Cheers!

Here is a pic of the entire family. R-L: oldest son, myself, DH, younger son, DIL married to oldest son. The waiter is a man that has taken care of us for years, knows our drink orders and is willing to do things like take pictures. We stayed out too late (youngsters had to go to work), but really enjoyed celebrating. These are the kinds of things that take my mind off of dealing with MBC. Ran into a woman today while buying a Lizard Man t-shirt that had dealt with stage III breast cancer. She asked when my chemo would be over. She was very sad when I told her never, but we had a good laugh over the merits of hair and no hair! Love the DOTD!

My back is finally easing up a bit, thanks to pain patches (diclofenac & lidocaine, not CBD--too expensive to waste except to guarantee in-flight sleep w/o carrying a bottle of the stuff in my carry-on--nor opioid), stretches, and a wraparound heating pad.
Been a wild few days. Sunday we took a Lyft down to the Civic Opera House, and though it was grayish & breezy, it didn't look too threatening. At 4:30, when the show (excellent, BTW) was over and we sat down in the Opera House's street-level restaurant, we looked out the window and saw calm air, sunshine, and blue skies. Took another Lyft home (though my back could've handled the walk to & from the train, Bob didn't want to risk missing the Game of Thrones finale), and the ride home along Lake Shore Drive was gorgeous. We got dropped off in front of our house, and didn't think twice. But my phone buzzed an alert from our local news app, with the headline "Microburst ravages Edgewater neighborhood." Read the story and gasped: ten houses west of us, on our block, a 200-yr-old oak was uprooted, fell on & totaled our neighbor's new car that had been parked on the street! Though no homes were damaged and there were no injuries, we did lose several trees. (The city had finished cleanup not 15 min. before we got home). Gordy was working that day, a block east of the Opera House, on the 17th floor--he said it lasted only about 12 min; and he and his officemates were looking out the hail-battered windows, thinking, "uh-oh, here it comes, no time to get to the basement, we're all gonna die," Just then, the funnel drew back up into the cloud from whence it came. He called it "Stormpocalypse."
Sunday's DOTD was brut Cava (half a flute each before the show and at intermission--poured the rest into the souvenir cup emblazoned with the "Anvil Chorus" scene from La Traviata). At dinner after, Moet & Chandon Brut Imperial rosé.
No alcohol for me yesterday. Gordy came over and we drove down to the amphitheatre in far s.w. suburban Tinley Park to see The Who. Though we had fully-sheltered pavilion seats, the howling 50F winds were whipping through the whole time. Nothing potable for sale except water (and I had my own bottle), beer, frozen drinks and optional shots of (ugh) Malort. (If you don't know what that is, you don't want to know. Makes Jägermeister taste like sugar syrup). I was wearing a T-shirt, denim jacket, and a hooded leather parka--and I still froze my butt off.
So did Townshend and Daltrey. Daltrey marveled, "It's almost f---ing JUNE! How do you people manage to live here in this weather?" (Guess he forgot what spring can be like in London). He had to wear a down jacket for part of the show. Townshend quipped, "Live Nation had the gall to book us in an open-air theater in Chicago in May--the money-grubbing bastards!" At one point, after making another faux-complaint at which we all laughed, he marveled, "you're supposed to BOO me!" After we obliged, he said "Thank you!" Of course the music was even better--with the full symphony orchestra that accompanied Daltrey on last summer's Tommy tour which we saw at Ravinia, including the concertmistress, who was the amazing violin soloist on "Baba O'Reilly." Setlist was mostly suites from Tommy & Quadrophenia, several of the best songs off Who's Next, plus "Eminence Front," "Tea & Theatre," "Who Are You," the deep album cut "Imagine a Man," "Join Together," and "The Kids are Alright." No encores--they played for >2-1/2 hrs, so no complaints, either. (Apologies to those here who aren't classic-rock fans for my geeking-out).
It began to rain when we finally got to the car, and for awhile it was really storming (we saw a car flipped over in a ditch on I-57). Dropped Gordy off at his place rather than stop for late dinner and risk even worse weather afterward. (He wanted to cook a couple of pork chops he'd defrosted anyway--I couldn't join him because his neighborhood has nowhere to park.
Right now it's 83F!!!!! Think I'll make myself an iced mocha latte.

JC u have a beautiful pic of u a nd ur family.
Janky when I first heard of chemo brain it was just really being discovered then after a short time they said they had no idea how long it could last, but as far as they knew then 20 yrs, LOL So between my elderly state and chemo brain it's rough.
Lori some of the pics don't have share, and a few do so I'm trying to pick one that shows the most.
Sandy ur back sounds better and u saw THE WHO, holy chit that had to be great.
Well today is surgery day for Leslie they just left. She's first on the venue of being carved this morning. Jeez I hate all this chit. I know Marty will call asap so I just wait. It's so much easier if I don't gocuz I can't get around except in a chair, he doesn't need to watch over me. Blah
I'll check in later, I think Leslie is supposed to be back home today.

Yes NM, exactly what DH is dealing with and will for the rest of his life, I suspect. Just hoping the spots remain on the top of his head, back and neck. He did have one spot that was on his temple, so close to the eye. And then the people you see at the office, and areas they have had cut on, one guy that came in didn't have a nose. Long day for you today, but also a long weekend coming up.
Janky, my DH does take precautions now, he doesn't like hats, so he wears a do-rag.
JCS, very nice family picture and all with good looks too.
Sandy, glad to hear the back is easing up, at least good enough to get out for a show and dinner. Had to laugh at Townshend and Daltrey.
Cami, wishing Leslie all the best. I do believe she is coming home today, I think I saw where she wanted Marty to have her a creme brulee cupcake waiting for her!
Heading out later, DH has doctor appt with his reg. doc. Might have lunch with the doc and his wife before the appt.

Cami- let us know about Les ?
Goldie- results ? I agree thinks around the nose & eyes are scary. My area around my eye is healing & had me so scared.

Good Morning, Loungettes!Happy TGIF day!The long day at work yesterday went pretty well, only one crisis and that was fixed easily enough.I'm disappointed at the turnout, though. Got to keep working on that.Right now there is no consequence if staff don't come. Not sure what, if anything, I can do about that. Need to talk with the boss about it. Sadie was miffed at me for working 12 hours, but enough tummy tickles and a fried chicken treat brought her around after a bit!
Janky--Unfortunately Sadie can't get to the construction next door, she has a fenced in yard. She would be very happily rolling around in all the mud if she could! I can't let her run loose, she won't listen to me when I call her back if she's interested in something, or chasing something.Of course, with today's rain, her yard's low spot will fill up again and become a smallish pond for her to roll around and play in.Great family pic!
Chi--oh my goodness, what a horrendous weather incident! I'm glad no homes were damaged. How long would it take Gordy to get from the 17th floor to the basement? That is a terrifying situation!Sounds like quite the concert.
Cammy Cat--perfect explanation of kitty zoomies! Ooh, I like Cosmos! Thanks!
Goldie--wow, the things you saw at the office. Scary. It wasa long day, and I've had to drag my butt out of bed this ayem, but then it's a long weekend!Yeah!
Cammy--how's Leslie doing?
