how about drinking?

The ricotta pancakes were less labor-intensive or stressful than preparing a classic French omelette or mult-veg one. Delicious, airy-fluffy too. (Much like matzo meal latkes, except no starch).Didn't miss the syrup at all. Can't give a recipe, because except for the 2 separated eggs, I eyeballed everything else

I can't keep up with you lively ladies, but I do try to read when I can. Thought this recipe from our local newspaper sounded like a delicious lo-cal summer drink (LOL)
PEACH DREAMSICLE COCKTAIL
2 oz vodka
2 scoops vanilla ice cream
1 cup sliced peaches (fresh or frozen)
2 oz fresh orange juice
Combine all ingredients in a blender until smooth. Pour into a large glass or mug. Top with whipped cream & orange zest. Garnish with a slice of peach

Finished my surgery prep cooking today. Individual servings of Chicken & White Bean soup, three individual chicken pot pies and filling for one regular, two broccoli & cheese casseroles, and chocolate & white chip cookies. Thursday I made hamburger veggie soup, 3 small meatloafs, garlic bread, and bacon & cheese twice baked potatoes. My DH is not much of a cook AT ALL! These are all frozen and have directions attached so that he can maybe figure it out. If not I can talk him thru it from the couch. Should be enough to last a couple of weeks or longer.
While I was cooking today, I heard a strange beeping noise. All the appliances were fine and the TV was off. The beeping stopped so I continued prepping. I glanced down and noticed the Neulasta patch on my arm was blinking fast. That was the strange beep as it started administering the med. Amazing I can forget I have it on and can not recognize the beep after this long.

JCS- I was laughing when I read about the Neulasta patch beeping. I was at work and it was beeping and I told the girl I work with I keep hearing this beeping sound and I don't know where it's coming from, she helped me look for a while then told me it was coming from me. lol

Way early morning ladies,
These last few days super busy with a/c work and sleeping all screwed up.
Sandy I've never heard of ricotta pancakes, but they sound good. Those words to the song funny. How are Gordy and Leslie doing??? U've been eating yummy foods and great wine.
JCU've really been using ur time for cooking. And it all sounds really good.LOL u and Misty beeping, sorry but that was funny.
Minus that drink got to me as soon as I read ice cream.
Kim 3.00 a cup of plain coffee u'd get with that here. The breakfast really sounded good. I hope u give urself some good care cuz u can get things rough, so rest on Sunday and u and Sadie can cuddle.
Muddling I don't even have a waffle maker but for some reason I really like pancakes but waffles not so much, and isn't it the same batter, so I don't know why I prefer pancakes more.
Ili like those pics and the fries look like the old fashioned ones, which are great. Do u ever get to rest, ur always on the go.
Have a happy Sunday everyone.

I'm worried about my DD that she will be going to the hospital alone, as her dad took off last Friday and this coming Monday to take her camping, fishing and canoeing. Can't wait to talk to her to find out. Sorry if this is TMI, they will make 2 small incisions in her tummy, cut up the fibroids, then pull them out through the hoo ha!
Gosh Illimae, I'm jealous! But happy for you with all your travels.
NM, so happy you and Sadie had a nice sleep in. Evidently your body needed it. And glad the cough is letting up. The garden sounds nice. Do any of your herbs over winter and come back? I think I too would opt to eat with one of the residents.
Minus, I have everything to try that drink, just don't feel like drinking ☹
JCS and Misty, cracking up your beeps. You should have started walking backwards and tell them it's your "back up beep". You know, like you hear on trucks when they back up?
jCS, good for doing all that cooking. Remember to put things you use the most with in arms reach.
Cami, how is everyone doing? Les, Marty, SIL. Of course we know you. And what is Joey up to on his summer vacation. Girlfriend??? My gosh, before you know it, he will be driving.
My gosh, I am still not well, over 3 weeks and 2 more weeks to go before I see my onc. Occasionally I will run a low grade fever. Drinking so much water, as much as I can, I feel like I'm going to float away. I get tired easy, and worn out after doing something. Sorry if this is TMI, my urine in not really dark, by oh my, what an odor. So I think my liver enzymes must still be high. I have some Milk Thistle at the post office, think I will run up there and grab it. I also see that beets help, and I have some organic ones, I put in my smoothies.

Good Morning, Loungettes!Happy Sunday Funday! Sadie and I slept in again and are getting up to some rain and a little bit of very distant thunder. Going to have to do laundry and hang it inside with the fan to have clothes for work this coming week! Had a nice bean suppah with Mom and Dick and Bob and Gloria and one of Dick's sons and his wife, and a couple that comes up for the summers.Brought Sadie home a couple of red snappers for a treat. That dog does love hot dogs!
Chi-- some of the best recipes are the ones that live in someone's head!
Minus--Wow, how yummy the Peach Dreamsicle sounds!Got to try this one soon.
Librarian--Sounds like a great variety of meals you have ready!Good for you! It is amazing how quickly we can get used to something, isn't it.
Misty--how funny! You must have felt very odd when you figured it out!
Cammy Cat--Sadie and I did some serious resting yesterday, I didn't even get out of the pjs until time to get ready to go to the bean suppah! Can't really beat $3 for a meal of meat, veg, potato or pasta, dessert and a drink. Very convenient, too!
Goldie--my herbs generally do not overwinter because I have them in pots on the deck. Not enough protection for the most part, but the chives have overwintered for 2 years now! There is one resident that I often sit withand feed her while I'm eating my lunch. She doesn't get much company and the other staff in the dining room have to keep popping up and refilling coffee and drinks, serving dessert, or generally helping all the other residents. So I've kind of adopted her and try to feed her at least one meal a day. She can't talk much but she can say a few words so our meal time "conversations" are a little one sided, but I do manage to get some smiles and laughs out of her from time to time! I'm sorry you still aren't feeling totally over the whatever.Keep up the fluids and all the other helpful things you find!

Hi ladies- I am back! All is well this way and been lurking when I can to keep up with you. Hard to believe June is already gone and July is tomorrow. Next thing you know it will be Xmas. I know, stop that jazzy, no one is ready for the holidays.
Been a busy month with work, some family passing through town, lots of music stuff going on. Jazzy is very social person in the summer and been doing music somewhere every weekend. Saw two really great concerts in June with our local jazz association that has been bringing in some wonderful talent to our city. More to come and the NM jazz festival starts in a couple weeks and will be seeing Stanley Clark in Santa Fe later next month, and Eddie Daniels in August. Still trying to figure out if I can get to see Bobby McFerrin at the Santa Fe opera in Sept. Really wonderful summer of music going on this year!

My new contract I started in April has been going well. Took me a good 6 weeks to get some things organized and dealing with an organization is the midst of a lot of change. The director who offered me the work left this past month and one of the leaders in my project left too, a bigger hit to what I am doing. But marching forward and am used to their chaos and just trying to get some things done for them.
My sister was here passing through town a couple weeks ago on the way back from TX. They have been over there dealing with eldercare issues with the MIL. They are moving the mom to CA soon to assisted living, and although they are hoping to be back for balloon fiesta and time with our nephew. all up in the air right now. The nephew is scheduled to come now and working on finding an affordable balloon ride for us, should there be such a thing. Someone told me to check Groupon for the best deals. My first balloon ride after living here 23 years! The balloons continue to fly over my patio quite often.
Now on to you folks:
Chi- I enjoy reading your posts about the places you go, delicious food and wine, etc. How are Leslie and Gordy doing, BTW? And is your health good right now? Happy Anniversary to you and Bob!
Cami- your kitty posts are the best. How is the family doing? I know Joey has had some tough times with everything going on and hope he has a good summer. He will be a sophomore or junior this fall?
Goldie- been worried about you and following your health issues here and also via your FB posts. I know you are still trying to push something out of your systems that has made you so sick. I am sorry your DD is still struggling through. Did I read they saw a spot on the kidney? I pray that is just a cyst sister. Too much for your family this past year. Been there in the past too and know you can barely get through one thing before another hits. I am praying for all of you friend.
Ill- enjoyed hearing about your trip to NE, my roots are there. The fish and chips from RI made me drool, our family spent a lot of time in RI through the years and miss summers there. Looks like a great time. When do you move over to West Texas to your home there?
NM- has the kayak come out yet this summer? We have super high melt waters from all the snow this year (and CO is still getting snow believe it or not). The rivers continue to be high and lots of kayakers out this year. Has Miss Sadie been swimming yet or still too cold? Job is still going well I think?
JCS- it sounds like your surgery is coming up soon. I think you said you are having lumpectomy (same here). Pillows on each side of you or a recliner will be helpful for sleep. I made sure my bedroom was super comfortable and space for drinks, pills and the like.
MistyEyes, Muddling, the Karens, Celia C, Peridot, and everyone else, hoping you are doing okay? Welcome to any other newbees I may have missed!
What is everyone doing for the 4th?
I have three days of work this week, plus two days off for a nice long weekend. Plan to do some outdoor things, music, catch up with friends, and more.
Wishing everyone a good funday Sunday!

Jazzy, welcome back 😀 DH and I plan to move this summer, hopefully putting our house on the market in the next couple months.
We’ll be spending the fourth with a friend and his family at their river cabin a few hours away. It’s on the Frio river and is a big draw, many “float the frio” on summer holidays.

Me again.
Lori I would think that most of us can never get TMI on anything any more and u know me word for word Camille so tell it like it is. And whatever u have had I pray it gets the hell out of there. Oh I can imagine how u feel about ur DD, and it means nothin about age, they're still ur babies, special prayers for her.
Kim everyone who lives in a special place should have someone like u near them. U have always treated people with so much compassion, it always shows ur true heart. I know it's ur job but u've always gone way beyond to make someone feel better. U r their blessing and Sadie's urs.
Jazzy's back YAY I enjoy how u manage to work and then plan weekends to ur full advantage for fun and help. U know until I started talking to u a few yrs. back I really didn't know they still had balloons up in the air that much. And if there's a place to go to u find it.
Illi ur another one on the go, my way is to be able to sit on our deck and I don't even do that unless someone is over and we sit there.
Oh and Lori next yr Joey will have a license and I cant wait. Oh I know I won't be his main concern but I do know once in a while when I can he'll take me to the store, which I don't like doing <never did> but sometimes I feel like it.
Again have a good Sunday everyone.

Cami, waffle batter has a little oil in it for crispness & body. You can leave out the oil but they'll be limp.
Doing okay--Gordy & Leslie still settling in. By now, I hope his ex-gf has come by his old apt and taken the queen-size bed so his landlord won't charge it against his security deposit. (They didn't always charge you here for leaving usable furniture behind. When we moved into our very first Chicago apt., we were surprised to see one of those 1950s chrome/mother-of-toilet-seat dinette tables and a pair of mother-of-bar-stool chairs. When we asked the janitor, he replied "Is for 'dibs'." When we asked what he meant by that, he smiled & replied, "Wait till winter").
No housekeeper till July 9--she has her family reunion down in Gulf Shores. So it's just the kitties & me (Bob is taking all the work he can get). No plans for the 4th. DirecTV guy came over to set the DVR up for internet and install a new dish to replace the storm-battered one. He finished just as a storm was hitting. Now to figure out what's wrong with the TiVO (cable TV is bundled with phone and internet, and is my backup for when the satellite signal cuts out during storms).
Tomorrow the grill guy is coming to clean and replace the guts (burner, venturis, flavor screen & ceramic briquets) of our Broilmaster natural gas grill. We may eventually buy a Weber kettle for variety, but I've never used propane (and I've seen my neighbors on both sides wrestle with tanks & even leaks, and have to wheel their grills around). First encountered nat. gas in our second apt., when our landlords gave us free rein to use theirs in the backyard, and never went back. The Broilmaster is plain-jane black cast aluminum instead of shiny stainless steel, has only 2 burners and no side burner. But it's built like a tank (the body is warranted for life!), can cook two dozen burgers and five ears of corn at a time, and is modular. Every one of its working parts is separately replaceable, but not necessarily those on one of the new latest-and-greatest--whose bodies are relatively flimsy and have warranties no longer than 5 yrs.

Good Morning, Loungettes!Happy Monday Monkey Day! Going to be a beautiful day today.Still dragging my butt out of bed this ayem despite lots of rest over the weekend and going to bed at a decent time last night. Not sure what that's all about except that I probably need to be moving more. Time to increase the steps per day target, I guess. Sadie says Woof to everyone!
Jazzy--Glad to hear the new contract is going well.Having key people leave is not a good thing but it sounds like you are rolling with the flow. Sounds like things are moving ahead with the MIL.Assisted living will probably be a very good thing for her and the family. I'm not crazy about heights but I would like to go up in a hot air balloon someday. The kayak hasn't come out yet, the water is still too cold for my liking. I usually go by myself so I want the water temps to be over 50 degrees, that gives me an hour in the water before hypothermia sets in if something happens. Maybe later this month if it stays warm like it has been. The job is going well.Sadie hasn't been swimming yet, but I'm thinking of taking her to the town landing on the pond soon. Got to check out the upgrades my tax money has been spent on and to check out the water temp for myself, too.No particular plans for the 4th, don't want to mess with the traffic and at least two of my neighbors will have fireworks to watch. Sadie won't be terribly thrilled.Work is still going very well.
Illi--"float the frio" sounds like a lot of fun!
Cammy Cat--LOL at the cat going somewhere!Thank you for the kind words. I do love to see people smile and I do smile a lot at Silly Sadie! Joey sure has grown up, hasn't he?
Chi--Love the way you describe things, especially "mother of toilet seat" tables! Hard to have the housekeeper away, I imagine, but good for her to be with family. Sounds like you have quite the fancy grill! Nothing like cast aluminum or cast iron for longevity.

NM, my chives spread like crazy. I have to make sure I get the flowers before they seed. Very deep rooted plant. But so good on a backed potato! I don't know why, but so love when you get to have bean suppah with mom and dad. BTW, how are the doing? Again, so sweet of you to sit with that resident, I'm certain she really appreciats it.
Jazzy, sounds like you are making the most of your summer, not only with work, but extra curricular activities. Yes, they found a spot on her kidney, they believe it's malignant, renal cell carcinoma. Sorry hear about your sister's MIL, but it will be good for her to be closer to her DD. No plans for the 4th.
Illimae, moving to the cabin? They have the same thing here in AZ as your float the Frio, on the Colorado River in Laughlin. Don't want to be there that weekend, it would be a madhouse.
Cami, I do worry about my DD and I know she is worried and scared too. She very sensitive, and tries to be strong, but being her mom, I know better. I can't even imagine you and Joey going somewhere together, what a hoot. I can see the 2 of you just cracking up, pretty much over nothing.
Sandy, good to hear Gordy and Les are getting settled in. Funny that the X would even want the bed, knowing that Gordy and Les have slept in it!
DD should be home today sometime. Surgery on Friday and I will ask her if anyone is going to be there with her, and if not, I will find some one! Not feeling the greatest, I forgot some of the things she has told me. I think she sees the kidney specialist tomorrow. Gosh, I can't wait for all of this to be over. Made some oatmeal cookies yesterday with chocolate chips, walnuts and craisins. Yummy!

Good morning, and happy Monday everyone. Bleh.
It looks like it was a busy weekend for all of you. I apologize that I can't comment individually. I'll get better at it when I'm home recovering from surgery, I hope.
Not much happening with me. Just counting down the days and planning a "last hurrah" cookout for the 6th. Have a great week!
0 -
JCS and Peridot- we will be in your pocket for your upcoming surgeries. Do let us know how you are doing on the other side of the procedure and when you feeling up to it.
Into July we go friends. Going to be a hot one here today!
0 -
Goldie, I hope your DD will have an easy surgery and quick recovery. Keep us posted!
Cami, I love your cat pictures.
So glad to read everyone's posts. Busy folks. I'm about the same. My cold is finally better-not completely gone but tolerable. No energy, but that's always true. Thinking of all of you, particularly those with surgery or scans coming up.

Good Morning, Loungettes! Happy Twofer Tuesday! The weather guesser is talking about rain showers and thunderstorms again today, yesterday they didn't materialize. Warm, mostly sunny, very pretty day yesterday. Maine finally got on the bandwagon and is offering "Real ID" driver's licenses. Real ID licenses cost $55, standard cost $30. Sounds like it's almost easier to get a passport and be done with it. A passport certainly lasts longer! Hmm, I wonder if there is a passport equivalent for fur babies?Wouldn't it be a hoot if Sadie got her own passport?
Goldie--My chives are in pots on my deck, so I don't have to worry about them getting away from me, but I have seen how they can spread!Very good on baked potato and lots of other things. Mom and Dick are doing well.Dick's memory is becoming more problematic, Mom's patience with some of it is wearing thin. I think she's really afraid of taking care of someone she loves getting sick and dying like Dad did. I'm not sure if Dick's children realize what's going on with him, and their mother died of Alzheimer's a few years ago. It's going to get complicated there in a few years, I'm afraid. Praying for your DD.
Happy--Don't worry about individual responses, those aren't necessary. You've got a lot going on and we all get that. Good for you for planning a "last hurrah" cookout over the weekend!
Jazzy--Happy July!
Good Morning, Muddling!Getting the energy back after a cold seems to take longer every year I get older.

Well, my DD saw kidney doctor today. She has Renal Cell Carcinoma. The kidney surgeon had a cancellation today, so she will see him at 1:30. The doctor also told her she needed to cancel her surgery on Friday, as this is more important. The tumor is hanging off the kidney and she didn't see any other cancer cells on the kidney, so she thinks they would be successful in just removing the tumor. And of course she's an emotional mess, certainly didn't want to be in Michigan that long. She missed a ton of work when I was there, and missing a ton more now, as she has already been there a month. I had made a go fund me page for her, but it's only brought in $730.
Sorry to not comment on everyone, just don't have it in me right now.

I'm so sorry to read this news, goldie. I'll hold your DD and her medical team in my thoughts. May she have the very best outcome, and soon.
0 -
Goldie, that is definitely not good news about your daughter. My thoughts are with you as the challenge is worked through. Sounds like her medical team is not wasting any time.
I did get some good news this morning. The breast MRI I had a week or so ago showed no cancer. Just some dead cells and scar tissue. We are going ahead with the lumpectomy so the surgeon can clean things up. He will not touch the lymph nodes as the MRI showed nothing there.Even though there is not much data to show surgery changes the outcome of MBC, I feel good about it. Next I meet with the radiologist to schedule SBRT to the lung tumor. My goal is to join the NED group for as long as I can
Tonight we will celebrate my oldest son’s birthday. I will definitely be celebrating with an adult beverage!
0 -
Damn.... I’m sorry Goldie. Sending good vibes to your DD.
0 -
Goldie, so sorry for your daughter , I am sure she is scared and you probably are too. I don't know too much about the Go Fund Me program, does your daughter get 100 % of the moneys donated or do they keep a percentage of it? Hope your daughter gets all she needs. Prayed for her.
0 -
Goldie- sending much love ♥️
0 -
(((Lori & DD))). May the tumor be encapsulated, easy to snip off, and in situ. And may the financial situation improve.
JCS, congrats on the negative MRI. And may the mets be slow-growing, sparse and totally vulnerable to treatment.
DOTD today will be homemade seltzer--had to buy new Sodastream bottles because the old ones weren't holding their fizz...turns out they were 4 years past "pull date." Lucky they didn't explode on me.

Good Morning, Loungettes!Happy Hump Day! Happy 4th of July Eve! Not quite so happy in this house this ayem though.Miss Silly Sadie decided to go out at 2:30 ayem and harass a critter in the yard.Said critter took exception toher harassment and sprayed her in the face.Yup, Miss Sadie got skunked. Apparently it was a small one, or one that didn't give Sadie the full treatment, but she is definitely getting a bath after work today. I've got to look up my tried and true deskunk recipe and pick up enough peroxide to make a batch. Ah, the excitement of a life shared with adoggo!
Goldie--Hugs to you and DD.I'll be praying for all of you. Such a difficult time.
Morning, Happy.
Librarian--That is good news from your MRI! May the SBRT be as successful. And who cares about the surgery changing the outcome or not, if it makes you feel better, that's all that matters.
Good morning to Illi, Misty, Jazzy
Chi--Wow, you got lucky with the Sodastream bottles!
