Cami....awww... headin' off to lullaby land myself soon. Hope they find out what caused Leslie's DH to pass out, and that it's treatable & won't recur.

Janice, OMG, how awful to have your DGD go through that--and you having to SEE it.

Jazzy, I vaguely remember caramel frappuccinos...somewhere in a dream.

So navigating tonight's Tyrolean winemaker dinner was less of a hassle than I'd feared. I had a flute of seltzer rather than bubbly during the "schmooze" hour. Was seated with a table of neighborhood gay men, which felt right as home since I started my folksinging career in gay bars, and they actually asked the hostess to seat me with them for the next dinner (Tour de France, late July). First course's pairing was a delightful unoaked Alto Adige chardonnay--at least the bouquet was delightful, the two sips I allowed myself were "meh" (not a Chardonnay fan--though I did order 2 bottles for Bob, who is). Second wine was a Trentino bone-dry rosé (I'm always a sucker for those, so I ordered 2 bottles). Third wine was light red Alto Adige Pinot Noir, which knocked my socks off (4 bottles of that en route). Fourth was a wonderful deep, dark South Austrian red called Lagrein--the shipment for sale is in a container truck somewhere back East, so I'll know what my allotment can be sometime next week. With dessert came a light Trentino sparkler, more refined than a Prosecco. But we're swimming in bubbly down in the cellar, so didn't order any of it.

Here's the amazing thing: all the wines were $15/bottle!!!! Contrast that with the Mexican wine pairing dinner at Mas Alla del Sol down the block last fall, where the food was awesome but the wine prices astronomical: the cheapest wine, a rosé from the Baja, was $48 per bottle. It got even pricier from there--$96 for a Cabernet was what Bordeaux clarets usually cost. (So little fine wine is made in Mexico that economy of scale is impossible). Nope. We'll eat there again, but get our wines from Cellars' dinners & tastings.

Not gonna weigh myself till after the weekend. Even though I de-carbed (and no-sugared) as best I could, I did a little damage. (Portion control saved me). And Bob's getting polenta for breakfast and a big hunka Sachertorte for dessert tomorrow (if he doesn't come downstairs during the night and polish it off). Me, I'm getting my choco-fix with 2 tiny squares of Lily's sugar-free dark chocolate (1 net carb and tastes better than it has a right to). The most traumatic part was having my Invisalign out for nearly 3 hrs. (I'm obsessing over complying).

    Mornin' ladies,

Did I miss something goin on, where's Kim.

And still waiting for Lori to have some answers.

Jeez Sandy what self control u have, if somethng is in front of me it's gone. What a huge difference in prices no wonder u ordered what u did.Oh one of the times Marty fainted it was because of sodium being low so I'm wondering if they'll think of that again. I have to remind Leslie. Different Drs. and hospitals this time. It should be in the puter I guess, but u never know.

Shower day today and did my personal ordering this week so that should come today, not my usual day but it's fine with me.I forgot my oldest DD's BD yesterday so I wished her a HB in the evening around the time she was born so I reminded her the time that's why I wished it sol late. She fell for it. Of course after i gave her the usual 18 hr speech for labor. I do that every year just to bore the hell out of them.

Hoping everyone has a good end of the week day.

Janky, sorry you are having a rough time, just keep reminding yourself, this too shall pass. Hoping your little Haddley will be ok, which I'm sure she will. My DD fell down some stairs when she was like 2 and split her forehead open. I felt horrible!

Misty, I'm not sharing whatever I have, so no worries. But good see you. Make that NY trip girl!

Jazzy, surely that dotd is calorie and fat free, right?

Oh Cami, so sorry hear about Marty. I'm sure you were all frantic. Please do keep us updated. AS IF your family doesn't have enough on their plate! Sending prayers and hugs for all of you. My gosh, so scary. My MIL had a similar instance, I think she had a stroke tho, and ran into a building.

Sandy, LOL on the Schmooze hour!

As for me, each day now is getting better, instead of worse. Still running a low grade fever, no word on the blood work, so we will stop at the hospital and see if can't find out anything. Going to town for groceries, my only concern is the walking, since I've been mostly in bed or my chair. So I get tired easily. If it gets to be too much, I'll get a scooter! I created a Go Fund Me page for my DD, she is going to be struggling to get her bills paid after being out of work for so long, back in March and now.

Janky, so sorry to read about your DGD's accident.

Sandy, glad your dinner was easier than expected.

goldie - very glad you're feeling better.

cami - I hope Leslie's DH gets answers on what caused the accident. Yikes.

Nothing much is going on with me. Still just counting down to my BMX, bi-lat SNB, and TEs. 17 days to go until July 8, but only 10 work days. (I'll update my signature next week, after the pre-op appts confirm all systems are go.)

Peridot, I did not have any mx, but several off the gals here have and can offer some great advice. I know you will want things so they are east to get to, and you don't have to stretch. Perhaps a recliner to sleep in. Making pocket sort of things for your drains, just so they are not hanging and for use in the shower for when you get to that point. If neighbors offer to help, whether it be cleaning or cooking, ACCEPT. You might also want to look up Cleaning for a Reason. Free for cancer patients. But the most important is to rest and not over do it, especially if you feel you can. It will only set you back. Remind us again when surgery gets close so we can be there with you. What might you like for us to sneak into your IV?

I'm sure others will chime in with some suggestions.

So I get my frappacino with sugar free syrup but yesterday, they gave me some kind of hybrid drink (I avoid sugar as you have heard) and the caramel was a surprise. But took it anyway. Hard week and since no alcohol available at the client site, my indulgence!

Morning from sunny Alberta - NOT! Yesterday it was down in the 30's for the first day of summer, then got super windy and poured rain, so much for my planned garage sale tomorrow. Thank you for commiserating with me - Haddley has bounced back and has not let the finger phase her, one tough cookie as they say!

misty - we really enjoyed the wine, it will be a backyard go to if it ever warms up here! Today I have absolutely nothing in my plan book, but I am sure I will find something to do - then wonder what it was ;)

NM - I am thinking Sadie is giving you 'stink eye' with these strange hours this week? Has she let you know how she is feeling about them?! Enjoy your weekend together!

peridot - I had a uni (left) mastectomy and recovered quickly and relatively pain free, just took extra strength Tylenol for 2 days - the drain was a pain, just in the way, nothing awful at all! Definitely look into the free cleaning as it is a really wonderful program when you are recovering.

goldie - I am sending positive energy your way, I can see buzzing around on your scooter - whatever it takes girl!! Apparently we are not given more than we can handle, so ...

cami - I love those fishbowls - a great idea for a family get together as I am sure the kids will enjoy them too (without the schnapps and rum though)!

chi - Your evening sounds like it was a real blast, I can picture all those yummy tastings and it is always a treat to be surrounded by a table of fun strangers, who may become 'friends from the cellar' ;) ...

jazzy - caramel frappacino sounds and looks delicious, made my mouth waater!

illi - How's New England? If you are a fish eater, you will have lots of choices, and they will be delectable from what I remember - enjoy!

JCS - I am going to try the Central Park on netflix this weekend as the rain and chill is the forecast!

Have a great weekend everyone, I am off to see what adventures await me today. Cheers!

Fantastic Friday everyone! Goodness, this is a busy group!!! Families, travel, sickness, dinners, etc. So exciting to hang with an active life-loving bunch of women. Sandy-your dinner sounds delicious. Gay guys are the most fun to party with. Goldie- Glad to hear you are getting better. Hope they find out what caused the fever so it can be prevented or treated quickly in the future. So sorry to hear about all the family accidents. Good to see that people are healing and will be back to themselves soon.

My MO met with the Tumor Board and they all agreed I could get a lumpectomy and then SBRT radiation to my lung. I get to have another breast MRI this afternoon then will schedule the surgery for the week after July 4th, hopefully. I will complete this chemo cycle on June 28th and miss only about thee weeks, two of which are my normal break. Of course it is dependent on the blood work getting okayed, but things are looking good. I am pleased I was able to convince everyone to do this detour in treatment.

I took my younger son (36yrs) to chemo this morning. I want othboys to see what goes on and be somewhat comfortable so if I need them in an emergency they have an understanding of the process. He was surprised at how easy the infusion was and how friendly the people are. I hope this does not make him think, “Oh! Mother doesn’t need any help. This is really easy.” He has a tendency to over-worry so this should make him rest easier.

Supposed to be a really hot weekend here. Humidity has arrived. Had a rough storm yesterday afternoon. Trees fell all over town. One tree fell and killed a man. My son’s power was out for six hours. Hopefully that will not happen again today!

Good Morning, Loungettes!Happy Saturday! Got to take the car in for inspection in a bit. Been busy at work, except for yesterday.I did get some work done, but Sadie went to work withme so we spent most of the morning visiting.Sadie did so well, she only barked a couple of times, let a whole bunch of people pet and love on her and feed her treats. She figured out who had treats in their offices and whose laps she could help clean the crumbs from. I was really surprised a couple of times when we approached someone who didn't want to visit with her (one person was afraid of dogs and one person started becoming agitated) that she just calmly turned away and walked off, as if she understood. She had a great time and so did I!

Goldie--your liver enzymes could be going through the roof because you were severely dehydrated!Severe dehydration can cause a lot of liver irritation and inflammation. I hope as I ketchup that you'll have posted more and found out that everything is returning to usual for you.

Janky--I think I made up to Sadie for the weird hours by taking her to work yesterday! At least she hasn't done anything odd since we got home yesterday!

    Happy--Happy belated Birthday!!!!!!!

    Cammy Cat--Good Morning!

    Good Morning, Illi!

Chi--Oh my dear, I feel so badly for you. No diet should run your life. I can't help but think that any diet that requires choosing between weight loss success on the diet and participating in and enjoying social activities is a set up for failure. One meal undoing a week's worth of work isn't a diet, it's insanity!IMO.What's the point of living forever on such an unforgiving diet that you can never DO anything to LIVE?

Cammy--Such a silly kitty!Poor Leslie. If she hasn't gone through menopause, Tamoxifen is pretty much all she can take unless she want to take another medication to shut her ovaries down and put her into menopause, and that is pretty rough, I can tell you from experience. She needs to talk to her docs. There are things that can be done to help. I think Sadie has forgiven me for the long days at work after getting to go to work with me yesterday. At least she isn't doing funny things like sitting with her back to me or getting me out of bed so she can get a drink at 2 ayem!

    Illi--Have a great trip!!!!

Goldie--oh, dear, some people get their feelings hurt so easily. I do hope the grandson's acne clears up before school starts.School is hard enough without the bullying that kind of thing triggers. The cake looks wonderful! Have fun being Nana Lori!

Librarian--glad the son and DIL had a good trip, despite the last minute hurry up and weight! Good point that if there is no data the action will change the outcome that there is no data that it won't either, and if it makes you feel better THAT should be the deciding factor.

Chi--glad you've found a way to keep to the diet and live your life! I didn't realize you had so many songs available in so many places!Blows my mind! Congrats to Gordy and Leslie on the move!

    Illi--YUM!

Goldie--sorry to hear you still aren't feeling top-notch.

Janky--oh dear, what a day! It's so hard when a little one has an accident like that.

Misty--Yup, Silly Sadie was VERY happy yesterday ayem! She's still recovering from all the attention today!

Cammy--Good Lord, what an experience!Praying for all of you!

Chi--What a great description of the winemaker dinner!Great bottle prices, too.

    Love the Fishbowl Jello Shots!

Goldie--glad to hear things are feeling a little better!

Janky--Sadie did give me the treatment the other day when I got home--came and got pets and cuddles then sat down back to me, very pointedly (looking around once in a while to make sure I was noticing). She seems to have forgiven me after taking her to work yesterday, though! Hoping for no more rough weather issues for you and yours!

Sandy, I meant to comment on your gay guys. I have 2 brothers that are gay and have been able to meet many of their friends. And girl, let me tell you, these guy are awesome at home interior decorating. AND, they can usually cook very well!

JCS, good luck on all of your upcoming treatments. Radiation will kick your butt, it's cumulative and you will get super tired. Don't fight it, it will just make it worse, take that nap. Seems like I slept a lot on the weekends, but he helped me recoup for the week coming.

Left yesterday morning for town at 9 am, didn't get home until 5:30. Plum wore out, I tell ya. We must have had close to a dozen stops. Went to be at like 6:00. Then around 7pm, I was awoken with my phone going off, my DD wants to facetime. Everyone was at one of my brothers, my DD, another brother and his partner, my 2 nieces and one of their husbands, a neighbor, and of course the brother's house they were at! I had to be very careful holding my phone, as I only sleep in panties!

    Singing

One of the stops was the hospital to pick up my records, so I could see if it told of the hepatitis. All it said was that was to be followed up with doctor! WTF, so I still don't know anythings. Oy Vey!

Gosh NM, I didn't realize we had bumped each other into the pewl. I just got out and boy am I prunie! Thanks for the medical advice. I am feeling sooooo much better today. I did take a nap, which I don't ever, cuz I can never fall asleep. I think I laid down around 10am or maybe a little later, and boy did I sleep, and I slept good last night as well. So happy Sadie and the patients enjoyed one another. They had dog therapy at my moms nursing home, but she didn't want to be bothered, said it made her sad cuz it reminded of her of Zeus. But now she can enjoy all the pets she has had. Hope nothing too serious with Pearl.

Our local news station did a segment last night on it being peak strawberry season, with the sweetest ones around here coming from a farm in IN—but I'm not about to waste gas & drive 45 miles in crazy freeway traffic to buy a box of berries. So I got up early (for me) to go to our neighborhood farmers' market—but by the time I could take my morning meds, feed the kitties, have my coffee, do my teeth (and, uh, something else) it was already pushing 11a.m. Walked to the market only to find out they were sold out of berries by 9 a.m.! (Not much of a market, anyway—half the stuff was honey, baked goods, and a taco stand, with just two produce vendors). So I got some veggies & cheese and walked home—the quarter-mile, carrying bags, wore me out. Had breakfast and called around—an Amish health food store down in Bucktown/Ukrainian Village (hipster-land, 6 miles away) had plenty—so I braved endless stop & go traffic and nailed an unmetered spot kitty-corner from it. Bought the berries, some other veg & herbs, & coffee beans—and the owner threw in a dozen Amish pastured eggs!

DOTD thus far—coffee & Crystal Light pink lemonade (the diet sheet says it's okay). I'm not doing this diet for vanity, but on my MO's (and PCP's) orders to get my a1c, glucose, and LDL down and keep my hemoglobin above the anemia line.

Good Morning, Loungettes!Happy Sunday Funday! Got the jeep taken care of to the tune of twice what I expected, turned out they replaced all 4 tires and not just the 2 I asked for.Need to call them tomorrow and find out how that happened.Spent the rest of the day lounging around with Sadie. The cold feels much better this ayem than yesterday peeyem, so I'm hoping I'm on the downhill side of it now. Stopped to do some grocery shopping and got lots of fluids to drink, so that's helping. Now if only I didn't pee myself when I get a hard coughing jag going!Sadie is out sunning herself on the deck, I'm going to do the same after my visit here and I hang out the clothes that are in the wash right now.

Goldie--Sweetie, there may not be anything to know about your liver.Hepatitis only means inflammation of the liver. Yes, there are viruses that cause liver inflammation, or hepatitis, but the liver is also inflamed by dehydration, chemotherapy drugs, certain foods, cancer, stress and a whole list of other things. It would have beenmore surprising if your liver enzymes did NOT go up given how dehydrated you were and for so long. Yes, it needs follow up.You should have your liver enzymes checked again after you have recovered and felt well for a couple of weeks. Chances are the liver enzymes will return to your baseline levels. And it is standard cover-your-ass practice for the ED doc to tell someone to follow up with a doctor for EVERY abnormal lab test or finding they come across. Make sure your Onc knows about the dehydration and elevated liver enzymes before your next round of FU pills. The Onc may want to get another set of liver enzymes before you take them to be sure things have settled down. Or he may not, as elevated liver enzymes isn't unusual for someone taking FU pills. But for your own peace of mind make sure to check in before your next round. So funny the mental picture I have of you lying on your bed half nekkid while facetiming!Pearl was getting her annual inspection and getting a couple of tires replaced, only it ended up being 4 tires! Good lord, those things are expensive!

Chi--good deal scoring the eggs!I hope the diet works for you for your sugars and LDL.

    Cammy Cat--LOL!!

    Mornin' ladies,

Oh great everything is on the last page so I can' go back to read anything. So I'm forgetting most of what was written. Jeez , I'll do my best.

Lori that phone call was priceless for u, I'm sure it was great to see ur DD. Sounds like ur feeling better, but not quite right yet. And still waiting for all tests to come back. Oy Vey is right.

Kim I like when u take Sadie to work, she can't stay mad at u then. I'm sure more people enjoy her than not, but there are always people who don't appreciate furbabies. I know I looked forward to weekly visits from the pet that came, but the dog was nicer than her owner.

JAZZY no alcohol for a week. U've got a lot of catching up to do.

We've got 2 operations here at the beginning of July, so we have to make sure we get ready to be with bothof u. with a special whatever u want in ur bag. Make sure u have body cream with u after cuz skin gets dry, really dry. And don't rush anything no matter how good u feel, just take it easy.

Oh the Drs. are going to test Marty's esophagus and maybe have to stretch it. Another goofy thing. Oh my niece finally met Dan <her cousin too> but now she said she sees why I can love hime so much. He stayed about 1/2 hr and they both left together.

Sandy I figured u were dieting for dr. reasons, cuz u look good anyway.

Chit I have to take a nap already, I can't keep my eyes open.

Hi ladies- just a quick hello and reading up on folks posts. June is almost over, July is on the horizon. I will be back here soon to ketchup with you all in a bigger way.

Cami- I got caught up last night on my boozing and had three glasses of wine. Paying for that today girlfriend. My partying days are long over.....

Goldie- i am glad you are doing better. Been worried about you but know you have been on top of getting this figured out. Keep getting good rest and lots of fluids.

NM- hey to you and Sadie!

Ill- so glad you are in New England on vaca. Perfect time to visit. I miss it still in the summer months, especially the RI shoreline/beaches.

Chi- I love fresh strawberries and used to go pick them in CT when I lived there. But yes, not worth the drive.

Here is a photo from my garden today. Do you see the bee watching me? He/she says "move along please, this one is all mine.....

NM, sorry Pearl cost more. I too would be interested as to why they changed all four tires w/o contacting you first. Oops, I did start my FU pills, I'm on week 2. I will call tomorrow for appt with MO.

Cami, I can say I'm pretty much 100% better. Get a little tired if I do too much, but I blame that on just laying around for so long and not doing much. I hope all is ok with Marty, and nice that Dan and his cousin got together.

Illimae, what beautiful pictures, I'm sure you are in awe.

Jazzy, you posted on the garden thread of your Oleander. How cold does it get for you in winter. As I didn't think they would grow where I am.

DOTD was a small bucket of various rums and other stuff, lol, I forgot the name as soon as the bartender said it. He was trying to sell it hard but in a nice, not pushy way. He said I should live a little, I told him I live a lot, then he said “life is short”, yeah, like I don’t know 😆 It was a tasty drink though. Here’s the drink and view.

Goldie- it usually gets down in the 20s here in the winter, sometimes in the teens. There was a time about 10 years ago we had a freak cold snap that took us to minus 8. I think it is what killed my trees in the back yard, combo of drought and then severe cold and they were done. I re-landscaped in 2012 and that is when I put that oleander in too. It has done well, but had to be pruned back this year as it was struggling against a large cactus (also pruned back). It seems to be thriving again.

I was told that to help them winter, they need good exposure to southern sun. Mine is planted in the back yard along the wall and gets lots sunshine. A lot of my neighbors have them and they seem to do well in the high desert.

Good Morning, Loungettes!Happy Monday Monkey Day! Getting up to a beautiful ayem here. Should be nice all day. Yesterday was beautiful, too. Sadie and I spent most of the day lounging on the deck. Did absolutely nothing but lounge all day long. It felt WONDERFUL! Ok, I did lots of belly rubs and ear scratches, but that doesn't count as work, right?

Cammy Cat--Good morning! Most of the people at work loved seeing her, but there are always a person or two that may be afraid of dogs, or having a bad day and don't want the attention or whatever and I try to be sensitive to that, particularly with the folks that can't always say how they feel. Sadie and I took some naps yesterday, and they felt great!Gotta love a good nap!

    Illi--Classic pics, Vermont is beautiful.

    Jazzy--wonderful pic!

Goldie--If you are feeling better than I wouldn't worry too much. Glad to hear you are feeling so much better. Scary time, though.

Muddling--The coughing is calming down, thank goodness. It's about time, too. Going into the second week for me, too, but it should be all better from here. It can take a while to bounce back after a cold now that I'm not 21 anymore!

Illi--WOW, a bucket of drink that looks yummy! And a great view to go with it!Looks like fun!

Chi--sea bass is good fish! The Chardonnay sounds good.

    Green Monkey Drink Recipe

    • 1 ½ oz. banana liqueur
    • 1 oz. vodka
    • ½ oz. white rum
    • 1 ½ oz. cream of coconut
    • Splash of pineapple juice
    • 3-4 drops green food color
    • Peeled banana, cut in half lengthwise for garnish
    • Cinnamon, for garnish

Add all ingredients except pineapple juice, banana and cinnamon to a cocktail shaker. Add ice and shake well. Strain into a highball glass and top with pineapple juice. To serve, garnish with the banana and a light dusting of cinnamon.

Mud, waving back at you and hoping you feel better soon.

Illimae, love the bucket drink, so cute. Hey it has blue berries, maybe I see grapes, what's the yellow? So a healthy cocktail!

Jazzy ok, too cold here then for the Oleandars, which is why we don't see them around here, we always get some below 0 temps in the winter.

Sandy, speaking of fish. I bought some individual packed Salmon, several pcs, from Sam's Club, they are HORRIBLE and very fishy tasting, not sure what I will do with them.

NM, after a busy work week, even for Miss Sadie, the two of you deserved a lounging day. Glad your cough is subsiding as well. Yes, I'm feeling better and my liver enzymes, albeit still high are down to 500 from over 1000.

    Waving hi to Happy.

Boring weekend for me, garden and house work is all. Hmmmmm, I made a post, guess I didn't hit submit. Glad I typed in notepad, so it was all still there!
