I so wish there as a like button!
Jack - I relate to your kitty pic - I watch too much food network too
Rainy and crazy winds here in Alberta - ugh, not the best start to a weekend, guess I'll have to stay in and imbibe. Cheers!

My DH is a musician. He plays guitar and sings in a blues/rock and roll band. He also plays in an “old man” punk band. LOL! He has played in several bands since high school and loves it. I, on the other hand, am tone deaf and cannot carry a tune in a paper bag. I enjoy listening and clapping long when I can. My younger son also plays in a couple of punk/metal bands. I will go listen if he comes on before 10:00pm. Cannot clap or sing along. It is loud awful music, but I enjoy seeing him have fun and visiting with his friends.
Had chemo today. A fill-in nurse took care of me. She normally worksin the Pediatric Oncology unit. She was very skilled with the port, listening for the alarm on the infusion machine and getting the chemo ordered quickly. She even chatted while all that was going on. Sometimes the regular nurses do not do that well.
We are celebrating tonight and having NY strips for dinner. I will enjoy a regional merlot with dinner. Tomorrow will be a football day and I will make tuna salad for lunch. DH has to start watching his cholesterol. Another challenge for my cooking skills.
Jazzy - I hope your SIL gets home ok.
Also hope everyone else has a wonderful weekend!

Lori, I hesitate to tell you this, as it may prove hazardous to your bank account, but.....Chico's is online! (And so is their Outlet). In fact, these days I buy more from them online than in person (especially since they closed their Old Orchard store--the ones in Water Tower Place and The Shops at North Bridge charge for parking). Easy, free returns too. And Cami, so is Nordstrom Rack, so you might want to surf on over and check out those bright faux-fur coats.
Just ordered some dark brown leather patches for Bob's long jacket's torn pocket, I have some black leather repair tape left over from patching my sofa & loveseat, so I will slip it in beneath the rip to provide an even surface for the new patch to adhere. We went up to the attic today and threw out >30 yrs.' worth of clothing (most of it smaller than I'll ever be again, and much of it in less than great condition). There was very little in good enough shape to donate to Care For Real (neighborhood food & clothing pantry), none of it Poshmark-or-even-eBay-worthy. But at least it freed up some attic closet space for the stuff I've recently gotten too slim for. (But I've decided to give away all my Size 2X, 3X, 20, 22 and Chico's 4, and some truly baggy 18 & 1X. Having it at the ready "just in case" makes it too easy to slacken up on my diet discipline).
A friend of mine had some concert tickets for tonight he couldn't use, so Bob & I took them instead. It was at the Old Town School of Folk Music: Tom Paxton (with the Don Juans opening for & collaborating with him), one of my folksinger-songwriter idols, going all the way back to my jr. high school days before I ever picked up a guitar. He's 81 and hasn't lost a note. (Saw him when he was 79, and his voice is stronger now). If the name doesn't sound familiar, maybe these songs might: "Bottle of Wine," "Ramblin' Boy," "Can't Help But Wonder Where I'm Bound," "Whose Garden Was This?", "The Marvelous Toy," and "The Last Thing On My Mind." We went next door to the Grafton Irish Pub (which, in its previous incarnation as Winners sports bar, was the site of my first paid gig since resuming my solo career in 1998 after a hiatus for motherhood & law practice), and the DOTD was a rosé from the Languedoc (along with a shrimp & avocado salad).

Cami, ha ha. THere is no word for word story on our trip. We took MIL out shopping a few times. She is at great risk for falling but refused getting in a wheel chair. Best part of the trip was coming home! I was so sick of eating out too, as she doesn't cook. She repeats the same things day after day.Janky, sorry about your weather, but I imagine that is the norm, given where you live.
JCS, so nice to have a such a nice nurse. The nurses I had at CTCA were awesome, in fact everyone was, except the doctors. I felt like I was just a piece of paper. Love my current one.
Sandy, I checked out Chico's online. A little too pricey for me. I rarely spend $30 for a top! And due to where I live, most shopping is only at Wal Mart. However, I really don't need any more clothes! My biggest thing to pass up is shoes or boots. Actually bought a pair while in Ohio.
Wishing your sister and her partner a safe trip back to CA.
Tearing up the garden today and tilling in some manure to be prepared for next year. Supposed to be 75 today, so nice day to do that. Serving up garden cocktails for everyone!

Good Morning, Loungettes!Happy Saturday! Sadie and I had a lovely sleep in after staying up much too late watching horror movies. Looking forward to a quiet day of puttering around the house. Got to get the kitchen and living room floors picked up and swept and mopped today, it's been way too long since they've gotten attention. Going to try to get out for a walk today, too, I really need to start moving more, especially on weekends. Sadie say's Hi to everyone, and Thank You for all the belly rubs she got this ayem! She and I named everyone here in the Lounge during belly rub session this ayem.
Jazzy--You have really had a full schedule recently. I'm still praying SIL improves, and stays comfortable if improvement is not in God's plan. It's good she will get closer to her family. Itwill be easier, too, for your sister to be back in her own area. I am amazed at how well you managed to juggle everything and take care of yourself, too during all this. Hugs.
Goldie--Ah, yes, I must remember Not my Monkeys, not My Circus!I need to find something I can post on my office wall along those lines that will remind me but not necessarily be understood by anyone else.Hmmm.
GREAT DOTD!!
Cammy Cat--There have been some fantastic DOTDs posted recently, and I can't hog the limelight all the time! I'm doing really well so far, keeping my hours very close to 40 per week even if the actual working hours are odd at times. So I am taking care of myself. Got my flu shot, too!
Luv, the King, too!
Bear--LOL!!!
Morning, Janky!I wish there was a Like button, too!
Librarian--funny how different people do jobs differently, isn't it? The dinner sounds really nice.
Chi--good point about having bigger clothes "just in case" can undermine discipline! Good for you for unloading so much stuff!
Goldie--oh, my, look at that garden full of cocktails! Now THAT is my kind of gardening!

Good morning all! Lots of posts to read and catch up with!
Jazzy, hope everything is still on schedule and goes well with your SIL's trip home today. Prayers for her continued recovery. Also hoping you can reclaim your house and time as your own again. It sounds like you have had others staying with you for quite some time through all of this. 15 days is a long time to share your living space, regardless of who the visitors are.
Muddling, still keeping you in my thoughts and prayers!
NM-glad you and Sadie got to sleep in a bit this morning. Your schedule always sounds so busy, so I think you deserve to linger under those covers a bit longer on the weekend!
Cami-I think what happened to Leslie with not getting credit for her work is lousy, and if there is some way for her to prove that she authored that work, I say go for it. I have some catching up to do with who is whom...is Leslie your daughter and Joey her son? Keep those cat memes coming; I love them!
ChiSandy, thank goodness for the news that what you felt was just remnants of your seroma. My MRI report that started my scare last week was just uploaded to my portal yesterday. Thank goodness it wasn't uploaded earlier because my enhancement was rated as "highly suspicious." I mentally thanked my surgeon for holding on to that tidbit of information until after I knew everything was normal. I'm behind on all the posts, so I apologize if you mentioned this recently, but I was wondering how Happy is doing. Hopefully all is well there too.
Goldie, that gorgeous picture is making me thirsty! Glad you are home from your trip and can eat some homemade meals. When I visit my in-laws, I have the opposite problem. There is nowhere to eat out, so we eat what my father in law makes at his house. At the father-in-law's, everything is fatty cuts of meat cooked to something resembling dried out leather and served on plastic dishes of questionable cleanliness since he refuses to run his dishwasher and hand washes everything. I don't even want to know how old the dishrag is. My mother-in-law (my husband's parents have been divorced since he was young) is a good cook, but she never seems to have a salad or a piece of fruit or anything fresh, so after being there for a few days I come home craving something healthy.
Lots of musicians in this crowd! I play the piano but that's it. I tried to teach myself guitar, but that guitar is sitting upstairs in my office and hasn't come out of its case in about six years. I can't even imagine how out of tune it must be. I have no singing talent whatsoever which is unfortunate for my husband because I absolutely love to sing along to songs when I know the words, and I freakishly know the words to most songs lol! I was singing along with Frank Sinatra, Harry Connick Junior, Michael Buble, and the like all morning while I was preparing a pot of soup to have for lunch during the week.
Speaking of piano, are there any fans of the show A Million Little Things in this bunch? I got into it last year when I was home recovering from knee surgery. Two of the characters, one male and one female, are breast cancer survivors. In this week's episode, the female character, Maggie, played a slow, quiet rendition of Peter Townshend's "Let My Love Open the Door." It was a very powerful scene.
No new drinks for me this week. I'm going out Thursday before a show and then I'm going to Indianapolis next weekend for a fun trip, so I'm saving up for those. I know there will be a lot of wine poured next weekend! However, at this time of year, I do enjoy the pumpkin shandy from Leinenkugel with a bowl of spicy, smoky chili.
Hello to everyone else, and I hope everyone has a weekend that allows you to spend your time doing what you want and with whom you want. My weekend actually started early because the school where I teach has a gas leak! We all got sent home early Wednesday and school was closed Thursday and yesterday. Crews are working all weekend to locate and repair the leak, so no decision has been made yet as to whether classes will resume on Monday or not. Even though I spent my days off grading essays, planning lessons, emailing parents, and making materials, it was nice to work from home and get caught up. Now I can actually enjoy the real weekend. Well....enjoy it after I clean!
Have a nice weekend, everyone!

They have gone home, ladies; air ambulance left about 10 min ago. I dropped my sister off at dawn at the hospital and went to say goodbye to my SIL, knowing it could be the final goodbye. Big lump in the throat, but no breaking down in the ICU so I am proud of myself with that. I have no idea what the future holds for her, but she is in god's hands and will at least be back home for whatever time remains. She was out of it again this am, and never did see her alert in the times I visited, but hope they gave her good drugs for the transfer.
It is nice and quiet here now and getting a lot of laundry done this morning from the visit and people in my house. I have a huge list of things I could not get to that were planned for the weekends and will begin working on that today.
The foliage is peaking here now and went for a nice late afternoon walk with my sister at a local park. Today I will do the same down by the river to find a bit of peace in nature. Too tired to swim again yet, but will go tomorrow. I am still trying to plan a get away for an overnight at one of the hot springs before my next surgery on 11/27.
Thanks for your support during all this. You gals are the best!

Hi everyone!
I’m having a chill weekend, hope all is well 🙂

Lori, I seem to recall you're pretty slender. When Chico's has closeouts on stuff, it's usually in the smallest sizes and at very deep discounts. There's also its online outlet store (made for the outlet, not overstocks from the regular offerings--but still good quality). Unlike "fast fashion" from Walmart or Old Navy, its stuff is higher-quality: still wearing things I bought there in 2013. (Old Navy & Target jeans are also good quality but sizing is inconsistent; but those discount tops are poor quality that tend to hold on to stains despite pretreating--seams & fabrics are flimsy).
I am also a fan of A Million Little Things, but a couple of episodes behind--resolutely plowing through my DVR to free up space.
Jazzy, still sending thoughts & prayers for your SIL.
Got my mammo/ultrasound report in my patient portal yesterday: the "official" size of the seroma is now 2.9 x 3.4 cm. (much smalller than the original tumor cavity). That explains why the scar tissue is so prominent: it thickens as it contracts.

Chico's is the best when they do their 40 or 50% off sale and then you add the membership discount of 5% on top of it.
Made some progress here at home today with laundry, getting the house back to where it was before everyone was here, etc. I also was able to rebook an overnight to my fav hot springs in mid Nov and also found a deal at a sister hot spring for Xmas Eve/Day overnight. I have some nice things to look forward to again, before and after my next surgery. Looks like the last of my claims on the first surgery were paid so now I know what to expect for out of pocket for the second surgery. Better than expected!
The family made it back to the west coast this afternoon. Thank you for continued prayers.

Mornin ladiesI'm hoping I don't lose anything this morning.
Jazzy I'm relieved ur SIL is home for her comfort and being selfish for u and want u to plan relaxation time and I do know u do that right away. I'm sure this was a difficult trip for all of you and still sending prayers.
Super I haven't seen that show yet, now I have to watch for it. I watch the lobotomy shows, like Love after lockup, Marriage boot camp and all the going to strange lands to marry someone, who barely speak English, oh and the Housewives cray lives. Leslie is my DD still battling a lot of crazy things from cancer and Joey is my now 15 yr. old grandson. Who lived with me after birth for like 6 months cuz Les was in the hospital. And then stayed with me every weekend after and when I got cancer he was still there emptying my drains, washing my floors and dusting etc. That's why we are so close now and taught himself some flute, and he'll come in here to have our talks <with the door closed LOL> He's been playing the clarinet for at least 5 yrs and he grew so fast now he's over 6foot one and everyone thinks he should be playing football, but he likes his music. I know this is boring but ladies Super asked.
Teka hasn't been here in a while, hope she's doing OK.
God bless u Lori u have so much energy Im so thankful for that. And Sandy yes her body is like a teenager and tall and on top of that she's beautiful---Out and in. Oh it's true Lori so just take the truth.
Sandy every company has sizes that are theirs only and when u shop online it's harder to get a fix on the right size when ur've lost enough weight, it takes a lot of looking up sizes and hoping it's right. So it's a lot of figuring out.
Our weather is rainy and a bit chilly, I have no idea where my rain coat is. I have a Dr.s app't tomorrow so we'll see how I'll handle it No I will not use a hefty bag, altho I have in the past. but not to the Drs.
Enjoy a nice Sunday everyone. I have a taste for raviolis so I have to work on that or tonite. Not make them, find the right restaurant to order from.

Good Morning, Loungettes!Happy Sunday Funday! Sadie and I stayed up too late watching scary movies again last night. Actually, it's a scary series, The Haunting of Hill House on Netfilx. 10 episodes, each a scary stand-alone story but together they make for one very creepy couple of evenings of binge TV! Even Silly Sadie gets in on the act randomly barking and making me jump. I swear she does it on purpose and is laughing at me afterwards!
Cammy Cat--that looks like a great Sangria recipe!
Super--Sadie and I do enjoy a lovely sleep in and lounge in on weekend mornings! So nice to be so warm and cozy. If only I didn't have to get up to pee after a while! Sounds like you are pretty busy yourself, even with school being closed. The gas leak thing is pretty scary. There was a big gas explosion here in Maine a month or so ago, and one of the injured people is still in the hospital. Everyone one else has finallymade it home, though.
Jazzy--Sending prayers along for your SIL, sister, you and all the rest of the families involved. Being home will be a comfort for both of them. I'm sure you are exhausted, both physically and emotionally. Keep taking care of yourself.
Good Morning, Illi!
Chi--still breathing a sigh of relief that what you felt is scar tissue and not anything more ominous. What a scare!
Jazzy--I so wish there were hot springs around here that I could escape to!
Cammy Cat--that kitty is just weird!Nothing about you and your family is boring, Cammie. I love hearing about the relationship you and Joey have. I wish things were easier for Leslie.I've hear that a Between the Sheets is a pretty potent drink, shall we tryit out and see?Meet you at the swim up bar!
I probably won't be on first thing tomorrow, got to leave home a bit early for a conference I'm going to. I'll get to see some of the college campus I spent two years at and check out all the changes!

NM, maybe you could use that FOCUS sign! Without the meaning of it. And you can chuckle whenever you look at it. Or perhaps just a pic of a monkey. Hope you and Sadie are having a relaxing weekend with a little organizing in there too. Dara hasn't logged in in 7 months. Too funny about Sadie scaring you during the movies. Enjoy your time on campus. This one looks poyfect!
Super, we don't really have anywhere to eat where we live, small town in AZ, mostly Fast Food or Mexican! I can relate to the plastic dishes, MIL uses them too. Mainly cuz her hands are so mangled from RA. But the cleanliness, I think she just rinses them off. Scary about the gas leak at school. Very scary!
Jazzy, glad they arrived safely. I'm sure you are happy, well maybe not the right word. Relieved, to have your home back to yourself. Also glad you were able to get your get aways planned. If you think you might have a free weekend and weather permitting, perhaps we can do our meet. If not, we shall wait.
Illimae, I think I will call you our "baby girl"! Hope you are enjoying your "chill" weekend.
Sandy, I have always been thin. As a young teenager, 5'8" and 115 lbs. Now, I'm 5'9" and 150 lbs. Could stand to lose about 10, but not going to happen most likely.
Cami, you are too kind to me. Thank you for your sweet words. What is the doctor appt. for tomorrow. Who is taking you? I can't get over how tall Joey has gotten. Does he ever say anything about being called Joey and would rather be called Joe?
Supposed to be very windy here today, but I will try and get outside to do more in the garden. Cutting everything back is not as easy as is seems and doesn't look like it would take long, but it DOES!

Aloha Ladies!
Friday was my grandson's 7th birthday. He said it was his best ever. I tried to post a photo of his cake. I'll figure it out.
We watch A Million Little Things. Perhaps I should Binge Watch today. I need to pay closer attention.
I did some reading before I started this post. I think I need to go farther back. I have you all (all ya'll) in my thoughts & prayers. I will have to sit down with my little note book & make notes so I can write something more personal. Okay, not More Personal. Just plain Personal.
Hopefully my next post is a cake representative of Chewbacca's home planet.

I found out over the weekend that a woman I used to work with passed away from Pancreatic Cancer. She was having back trouble and did not feel well. Finally went to the doctor in August and was diagnosed stage IV. Not much they could do, but did start chemo. She was a 70+ yr old African-American that went to the doctor often for various maladies. Unfortunately, this disease was missed. She is the second African-American female I have known to pass away quickly from pancreatic cancer. Is there no test for this cancer? They are a group of five friends of mine to die from pancreatic cancer. My sister says I live in a cancer “hot spot”. I tell her I know more people than she does! Still it is upsetting. We also say frequently that is why it is called a medical practice. Doctors are just practicing. I really hate cancer

Thank you Jazzy,
My miracle grandson Mikey was 7 on Friday. This is Chewbacca's home planet. Mikey has asked for me to make a Hershey's Chocolate cake every year. He chooses a different theme every year. Some years turn out better than others. He will probably be my only grandchild. I am so blessed to have him in my life. We will start piano lessons! How wonderful is that?
Love you Ladies❤️🎶❤️

Mornin' ladies,
Wow what a cake!!! Ur grandson is adorable. I love hearing how much u enjoy him, cuz I really understand. R U teaching him piano??? He's a lucky little boy to have you. And u are blessed to have him. I couldn't "bear" living without my grandson in the house. He's such a joy. Ur name cracks me up.
I've had 3 people in my own close family die from cancer, so I believe 5 would not be unbelievable. IMO u have to find pancreatic cancer right away, but I don't know how, there doesn't seem to be a lot of symptoms at first. How sad JC, this whole thing is sad.
Lori of course it's not easy cleaning the yard, I don't know how u do it. If I picked a weed I would be disabled for the whole day. U just keep on going with everything u do. And everything I say is always true about u Lori. And personally I don't like hearing about ur beautiful weight, just so u know LOLI see the Dr. today and every time we argue about me getting on the scale. I don't care <well I do> that I lost 100 lbs. I just don't like a scale ever. Just looking at one makes me gain weight.
TEKA so good to read u, I knew u'd poop in when we talked about u. Ur always missed.
DARA WHERE R U??? Way to long Missy.
Jazzy u must be busy, but u'll be relaxing soon and I'm sure u need it.
Kim oh I'm with u with scary movies...I saw the one u talked about. I did watch a limited series <mystery tho> called Unbelievable that was very good. I broke away from scary for one night, cuz that's usually what Leslie, Joey and I watch. Sadie loves to play with you and now she's scary too. hahaha.
My cousin came over last nite and we had a nice visit, Dan is her son and she was there and it's only a few blocks from me so she stops over when she can. Joanne <my cousin who just died> is her mom so I enjoy seeing her.
One of the guys from work <my fav> has to drop something off for me this morning and my niece will pick me up for my Drs. app't. Now all this activity for me knocks me out and when I come home I always need a nap. I'm so lazy.
Hoping everyone has a good day.

Well, I didn't make it outside yesterday, too windy.
Jazzy, is your sister and SIL near any of the fires there in CA?
Nancy, your grandson is adorably handsome. And that cake...wow! Transformer? I see Receese's and Kit Kat. What else ya got going on there? Oh I see, it's Chewbacca's home planet. And do I see a cake on top of a cake?
JCS, pancreatic cancer is just one those cancers that once it's found is almost always too late. And takes it's victom quite quickly. I know several people that died from that Rat BasTURD.
Cami, you are not lazy...except for picking weeds, LOL! 100 pounds is a lot! And you weren't even trying, right? You are not underweight are you? I don't do scary movies. And you have our DOTD covered. You let us know how things go at the doctors.
I'll add another one.
Chebacca Coctail
2 1/2 ounces spiced whiskey
1 egg white
1 ounce freshly-squeezed lemon juice
3/4 ounce pure maple syrup
2-3 shakes of bitters
ice
Add the egg white, whiskey to a cocktail shaker and vigorously shake for 20 seconds0
