Happy Saturday everyone! I am hoping those of you who are 'unwell' are feeling lots better now or soon, many bugs going around right now, so 'be careful out there!' ;) I go for my second cataract January 28, so then at least 3 of us here will be 'seeing clearly now'...I think I am having a cheesey afternoon. In reality I am exhausted, 2 of my friends are now in hospice, not sure about my third one and my sister's hubby passed November 25 Thanksgiving weekend, 11 years ago so I think all this transitioning is getting to me because I sure am not doing much - not even responding here in my favorite 'drinking establishment'.

My DH and I will be grandparenting our 2 year old (hellion, but adorable) grand daughter and her 4.5 year old brother this week, then our almost 5 year old grandson next weekend, then off to Mexico December 2 - 9, so I probably won't be here much in the upcoming couple of weeks, though will try!

I do wish good things (great things) for all of us in the upcoming season and into the new year too. Be safe, be happy, most of all be healthy... Cheers! Janice

NM- oh no, you were all worn out from the week and then the barfing dog? Glad she is better, maybe got in to something she shouldn't have? I hope Miss Sadie is better. Sorry you had to deal with that.

Those photos are of our mountains here in NM. We got a good coating of snow on Thursday and the mountains look beautiful after the fresh snow. The client site location where I sit has a fabulous view of our Sandia Mountains here in town.

I do think my SIL is trying to let my sister know she is ready. She has a combination of being a doctor and wanting to throw everything at this situation, and also know she is scared to be alone. I heard that when she was here. That being said, I hope too NM that rehab will be sure to tell her when they think it is time for hospice. And yes, holidays are a hard time to loose people because then the holidays are always a reminder of that loss too. I hope what ever time remains, that everyone can find their way to spend time with my SIL and share some nice moments?

There was a lot of getting thrown under the bus stuff going on last week. A lot of people are working to get out. They made it easy for me to say bubbye now....

Janky- I know you will be gone for awhile but wishing you and the little terror some fun times together and good holidays with the fam.

    Mornin ladies,

JC it's better to forget the chemo, except when ur all ready to get it over with they send u home, That's aggravating. I can't believe Thanksgiving is almost here and not so excited this year.

Janky u've got some good weeks ahead, spending time with ur grandchildren and then trippin' to Mexico. Oh I know u'll be tired but just relax in Mexico and u;ll come back all refreshed.

So Lori u will find out today for some of the tests...good. we're waiting. See, see we all say cathouse for ur pic. Fantastic U've got the boy show it off. Lori I fell asleep in one of my quick states I woke up with something in my mouth my pills, I must have put them in my mouth and zap fell asleep...this is getting crazy.

Jazzy I luv ur haircut, it looks so natural and easy to care for. Wow they're offering u part time...What nerve, But Jazzy u know exactly what to do, so just do it. Another wow ur getting ur eye done the day before Thanksgiving??? All u ladies getting it done u make it sound like a day in the park. Well when and if I do u'll hear me screaming all over this page.

Oh Kim they actually told the nurse to go home cuz she was acting up. Jeez how bad could she be. I'm sure ur happy she's leaving. And poor Sadie, I hope she's OK now, ur such a good mommy, it's just to bad they can't tell u what's wrong. She doesn't get sick very often so she might have had a doggie flu. Now she needs her rest. And see if she'll drink water. Oh look who I'm telling. sorry. But we;re all vested in Sadie, u know that. And get ur tires winterized.

OK a dull blabbering story came to mind. When Jodie was around 10, she was in school and they were talking about what they eat for Thanksgiving. <Now remember we at that time were the only ones without a dad because of divorce> rare then. So all Jodie said was Well we're not having turkey this year. The teacher took it as poor Jodie and her family and took up some kind of collection and a turkey and all the fixins" were brought to my house the day before. "for Jodie" I asked her why we got this food and she didn't know except she said we weren't having turkey. It dawned on me, since I worked 2 jobs then they thought it was to expensive or whatever . Well I knew where to donate it to, which I did and told Jodie just not to talk about us. Well when she went back to school again they were asked about food. <By -the way I did send a TY letter> Well big mouth Jodie told her we had prime rib, double baked potato, asparagus with holandase sauce pumpkin pie and parfaits, cheesecake, cookies, and an assortment of Italian desserts. She, big mouth, told them that. That year my mom and dad just decided it would just be the 5 of us and everyone else would come for dessert Oh boy I apologized to the teacher and did tell her I gave the very thoughtful dinner to a family. That was just one of many many things Jodie got me into including being asked to leave as a girl scout leader with her of course. But now it really is funny to me. I was also asked to leave as a brownie leader for Leslie <it was Jodie> OK done with my blabbering.

Everyone is still sleeping, now I'm awake, see how long that lasts.

Hi to everyone and Happy Sunday.

My TM's took another big jump, 150. I am now in the 800's, normal is 30 and 40. I'll be back sometime after I get home Tuesday, and ketchup then.

NM, glad Sadie is doing better.

Good morning friends- hope the weekend is going well. My friend and I had a nice two plus hour coffee chat yesterday, and we are ready for Wednesday. Went to a gallery open house with a friend who has changed careers from running a bed and breakfast to do some other things and she seems so happy. The gallery had things ranging from $14 up to the thousands, something for everyone. Co-op type galleries are very common here and always fun to meet the artists at these open house events.

Cami- yes, surgery is first thing on Wed morning. The nice thing about choosing that date was having my pick of times (getting the first surgery block of the day with her) and having a nice long weekend to recover. I have a follow up apt on Thursday morning and then if all is well, onward to the rest of my life.

And yes, a big eye roll on the request for part time. The project was never well scoped out, and the leaders continue to argue about what they want, which does not set one up well for success. I raised my concerns early and often through this project. Anyways, there is a new medical leader who wants to re-scope it and do think that is the correct thing to do. I reached out to the prime on this (subcontracting on this one) and am asking if they have done anything to extend my agreement as originally requested? I want to be sure they know what was asked of me and that I am not willing to work PT so if that is the request, I will plan to finish in December as originally agreed to and go. It is important to finish your original request on these things which I can do (five weeks left). Best to cut my losses here and move on. This situation has served its purpose.

Lori- ugh on the tumor markers. I am sorry to hear this friend. We will wait to hear from you Heart

Oh, Lori, I am so sorry about the tumor markers. Fingers crossed they can get them back down.

I am one crispy critter today. No sleep Friday night—home from rehearsal 11pm, had to deal with de-hacking my credit card—didn’t get to bed till 2 but couldn’t sleep because Bob was snoring and he kept getting calls from the hospital. Up at 4, out before 5, flight 6:55am yesterday to Ft. Lauderdale; cousin’s memorial in Parkland, flight back home landed 10:30pm. Uber line traffic at Midway (under construction again) was brutal—had to wait 1/2 hr in the cold for mine. Home midnight, feed cats, grab snack, to bed 1:30. Thought today’s rehearsal call time was 10 am (e-mail didn’t specify noon, the actual time, but warned us to leave early due to Bears traffic). So I left home before 9am, drove down to the Loop by 9:45, grabbed a quick coffee & a handful of nuts. Opened my e-mail only to find my FB account was hacked yet again—and twice more each time I re-secured it. Rehearsal’s about to start; then a friend’s annual open house party, then pack for London (we leave tomorrow at noon to get to the airport at 1 for a 4pm flight). Hoping I’ll be sufficiently exhausted to be able to sleep in-flight: we’re in business class.

DOTD yesterday was a French sparkler on my SW flight home. Had the entire “split” (don’t judge).

    Mornin'ladies,

Oh lori I'm so sorry to hear this, now what do they do for u. There has to be something, saying my prayers is what I can do.

Sandy U really need wings, wow the next couple of days, u should flop out on ur trip, which sounds good to me. All the traffic, I guess mostly because of the Bears. You r taking something before ur flight aren't u??? This does sound like so much to do now and just think a couple of days ur'll be across the pond. Safe travels.

LOL Jazzy funny cartoon, never thought of that either. So u'll probably be done with this job pretty soon. Start the year all fresh an ready to move on. I'm glad ur getting ur eye done Wed. and get it over with, actually good timing to have the days off.

I'm going to my niece's in Thanksgiving, my sister and my BIL will pick me up. And on Sat. we're going to Dan's house to celebrate Thanksgiving. So this to me is.great I get 2 celebrations and so much food. An everyone lives within 5 miles, so I'm close if by some remote chance I have to leave. Which I'm not planning to but I have a load of things to do before so I'm already tired just thinking about it.

Well the beginning of the week hope this turns out well for EVERYONE.

Good Morning, Loungettes!Happy Monday! The brain may have wanted to sleep in a lot later, but the bladder appears to be trained to wake up around 5:30 ayem. About the time I convinced my bladder that I was going to ignore it for a while, Sadie's woke up! So here I am, having beenhoping for a very nice long lazy sleep in, on the computer while Sadie is snoring in the recliner. I do feel a nap in my near future today, though. I had forgotten how long a 12 hour shift can be. I was dog tired by the end of yesterdays. Got another one Wednesday, after that I've got to go back to 8 hour blocks when I'm helping out. I need to get some meals in the freezer that I can just heat up, too, cuz I'm too tired to cook when I get home and need to be eating real food, not boxed stuff.

Janky--the holiday season can be a hard time when those near us aren't "up to snuff", and especially when there is the anniversary of a death involved. Do what you need to do to take care of yourself, ok? Enjoy the grandchildren and the trip to Mexico!

Jazzy--Sadie is all better now, back to her usual self. She probably did get into something, heaven only knows what. We got a coating of snow overnight, probably about half an inch, I haven't measured it yet. Of course, that's on top of layer of ice. Sigh. I'm still praying for your SIL andyour sister. Tough times, hope they spend a lot of time together and with friends and family, sounds like it may be the last Thanksgiving and Christmas for SIL and she sounds like she knows that. Glad you were able to get out and away from the under the bus throwing party. Why do people do that, anyway??

Cammy Cat--LOL at the tuna juice shampoo! That nurse was being pretty bad, not only to the other staff but to the residents as well. Just so not right, and we are way better off without her. Sadie is just fine again. Whatever it was it was a short one. Like Jazzy said, she probably got into something she shouldn't have. She was drinking water right along, I keep an eye on that. I don't worry if she doesn't eat for a day or so, as long as she is drinking. Oh my goodness, what a predicament Jodie put you in!It was awfully kind of the teacher to care and do something, though. Did you enjoy the girl scout leader thing?

Goldie--Oh boy, that is a big jump. See you when you get home.

Jazzy--long chats over coffee or tea with good friends is always a good time. Seeing a friend doing what makes her happy must feel good, too. Good luck with eye surgery #2. Glad the problematic project is winding down. It is important to finish things out properly, it shows class and professionalism.

Chi--Good heavens you must be exhausted! I bet you will be able to sleep on the flight. No one here is going to judge you, or any one else, for how much you enjoyed on the flight home!

Jazzy--I hope the Flapper look isn't coming back! I could NEVER pull that one off!

    Cammy Cat--Wow, 2 Thanksgiving dinners!What fun!Enjoy!

    Love the Airmail cocktail!

Sitting here in the BA Terraces lounge at ORD, killing time. Seeing as how our flight is delayed nearly 3 hours, I am actually strangling, stabbing, shooting and taking a machete to time, hacking it up into little bitty pieces. Upside is that not only is this lounge much better than it used to be (hot bar with Thanksgiving dinner!) with unlimited drinks, our room is likelier to be ready upon our arrival tomorrow morning. My DOTD is the Airmail cocktail—hold the rum, honey syrup and lime juice, just having the champagne (Chandon Brut).

Good rehearsal yesterday. Was able to “dance” (so to speak) in my 2” orthopedic heels with orthotics. Got to our friend’s party only to find we were 2 of the only 5 people there! He normally has 12-18, but as we age I guess people don’t party as hearty as they used to. Way too much food & drink there. Yesterday’s DOTD was that Duboeuf Beaujolais Nouveau. No great shakes with food, but tastes great with friends (who were delicious).

53 & sunny—why does the weather always improve when we leave Chicago? Same temp range in London, only rainy. (It’s London, after all). Next Sunday, when rehearsals in the S. Loop resume, we’re getting (ugh) snow

Good Morning, Loungettes!Happy Twofer Tuesday! Sadie and I had a totally lazy day yesterday, I never even got dressed! Going in to work for a regular day today, then a long day tomorrow, then a day off again. The weather T-bird day isn't supposed to be very good, not sure what that's going to mean for plans, but we'll see. It's going to be nice to have a 2 day weekend off this weekend. Sadie says Woof to everyone!

Chi--sorry about the long delay, glad you have a nice place to hang out in. I'm hoping by now you are in London and having a great time!

    Mornin ladies,

Kim that DOTD looks and sounds bazaar to me, but I would go for it.Always happy to hear Sadie's doing well, an extra rub from me Wow ur hours sound crazy but with a few days off makes it sound better especially when I think of ur hours at ur old job. Good thing that nurse left she doesn't sound very pleasant for anyone to be around.

OK Sandy I hope u rested on the plane, but starting out 3 hours delay is emotionally exhausting, so u' better get rest somewhere. What a week u've had and still another one coming. WAIT I just thought they don't have Thanksgiving there, do they have anything going on since they were some part in it...or has my history really crumbled. Well one thing I'm sure they have some good food there that we might not have here. well they're really not noted for fantastic recipes, oh I'm getting in trouble here. No offense if anyone took any. Anyhow u look at it ur in a great place and I'm sure u'll enjoy it, just try not to overdo cuz things tend to go wrong for u when u do that. Another words take care of urself and do some drinking, they have some good stuff. They must.

Well my hair gets dyed today with some kind of hair cut, Les will decide There's not much u can do with my hair nowadays. I've told u before I always had big thick frizzy hair, now that it's in style my hair is thin and straight as a string.Les and I have a hard time getting used to it and working with it. OH well I've got hair.

Hope it's a good Tuesday for all and Good Morning to everyone.

I am still taking my antibiotic and the temp has come down. Not all the way to my normal, but down. My DH and I have disagreed on my exposure to others. I had two social events this week as well as Thanksgiving. He yelled at me until I cancelled both the social events. Amazing though, I was not toosick to cook his dinner, clean the bathrooms or put up with his friends coming over. We did have a squabble about all this that I hope cleared the air. I do worry about him being able to take care of me if/when I am unable to do for myself. There is so much he doesn’t know and is not willing to learn. Oh well! I have a grocery list that I hope gets taken to the store today.

Hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving where ever you are and whoever you are with. Then on to Christmas!

JCS - glad you spoke up for yourself. You need to protect your immune system. I find many don't want to understand the whole cancer thing. I hope that temp continues to come down. Get the rest you can.

Cami - can't wait to hear about your hair outcomes.

    Chi - you made it

NM - just no time on the mashed martini

We are getting winter weather & snow for Thanksgiving. Eye surgery tomorrow am 😮

Jazzy, in your pocket for your cataract surgery. How great to finally have two good eyes! Bob just saw our friend the ophthalmic surgeon for his annual refraction, and his reading correction was increased a bit. But our friend sold his practice to a group and no longer owns the in-office optical shop—so he told Bob he might as well use Warby Parker. (Bob likes to physically try on frames, so Zenni wouldn’t work for him). Meanwhile, he’s using some drugstore readers at 2.5, which is stronger than his current but weaker than his new prescription.

We just got back from Rovi, Ottolenghi’s newest restaurant. Most of what we had was vegetarian or even vegan (with one fish and one poultry dish), but I was able to handily skirt the carbs. DsOTD: Pierre Gerbais Brut Reserve NV and 2018 Chateau Brouillet “Bergecrac” Bergerac red (equal parts Cab Sauv, Cab Franc, Malbec & Merlot). We got a bottle of the latter (cheap by any restaurant standards, especially a London foodie mecca) and took half back to the room. Bedtime DOTD will be a decaf Arpeggio Nespresso. (The room has a machine and a bottomless supply of coffee capsules).

“Bergecrac” is indeed a pun on Bergerac, but not what you think. The estate is owned by someone with Irish heritage. Whereas in the U.S., “crack” signifies something so delicious it’s addictive, in Irish slang “crac” (no “k”) means a really good fun person or thing. (Live & learn)

Hacked AGAIN—this time my primary e-mail! The provider’s office stateside isn’t open for another hour so there’s nothing they or I can do. (Can’t access either webmail—because I can’t access the website—or the pop server in my iOS e-mail account preferences). I went into my “keychain” and found several usernames and passwords I don’t recognize, none of which will get me in now because the lone tech on duty put in a “ticket” to regular tech support. I’m stuck inside on my vacation till I can call them back, while Bob is out & about (in the London rain, of course). Last night at dinner I tried to download an app to my phone, only to find my AppleID password had been hacked as well. Scary to think my phone has been cloned so the thieves have access to my secure passwords keychain!

I think what I may need to do is use only wall adapters, not the USB ports at my hotel room’s bedside charging module, to plug in: I know that airport USB ports can be hacked to transmit data, not just supply power, and I fear it may be the same at hotels. Everything was fine through last night, so I’m sure this is either the hotel’s wi-fi (my iPad isn’t compatible abroad with Verizon’s int’l day pass plan) or those USB ports. Forewarned is forearmed. Wish I could go off the grid, but then my utilities and other various accounts would be unable to reach me and I wouldn’t have you sisters

Jazzy, it does sound like your sister is in denial. I guess there isn't really anything you can do about it. Praying for peace for your SIL. I think you had your other eye done, if so, I hope it's going as good as the first one. Not sure now if we are going to get snow or not, they keep changing it.

Cami, so happy you get to have 2 outings. Enjoy your family! I wanna see a pic of your new do and color.

NM yes, make some freezer meals! Google "freezer meals", you will find lots of ideas. Also, I will be glad to see you on a more regular schedule. I think all of these odd hours are not so well tolerated as we get older. Mashed Potato Martini......ummmmmmm.....no thank you!

Sandy, sorry about the flight delays. You should be there by now. Have fun.m Lie Flat seats, oh wow. Now I could sleep in that, but probably couldl't afford one!

JCS, sorry about your hubs not being understanding but the same is ok with his friends...oy vey! And hoping he never has to take care of you, but we all know this is inevatable at some point.

Well with the huge increase in TM's and scans showing that previous bone mets are worse and I also have new ones, we are starting on Verzenio/Faslodex. No more Xeloda for me. Even tho I have no pain, he doesn't want me to take a turn for the worst, and it happening suddenly. I don't have my report with me, but remember reading that spine is affected T1-T12 and a new spot on my skull, and the top of one of my legs, and the part of your behind that you sit on, but he didn't say tailbone. I chose not to become upset and depressed when I read my TM's and did the same for my scans. Nothing I can do about. Wishing you all a very Happy Thanksgiving and that you can enjoy it. I am thankful to have all of you in my life. We will be going to our family doctors house for dinner.

    Mornin ladies,

Another in ur pocket Jazzy, getting this over with is great.

Oh JC ur still not feeling well, It <I think> takes longer sometimes to get thru an infection now. They always say don't expose urself to a lot of people so I can see ur DH viewpoint. Sorry u have to cancel stuff tho. With my first set of chemo I worked <4 mos.> When my Dr. asked me where I worked she got so upset, she assumed I just has a little office and did stuff??? I was supervisor at Titles and registration at the DMV so I was over exposed to people. I had to stop right away, I actually got a lecture about all the germs I was exposed to plus I balanced out all the cash meaning I was handling all of the cash. I never gave it a thought really. But I guess Drs, don't like that. So just take care of urself. U sound like a take charge person, an that's what ur DH is used to so it's hard for him to see u in any other way plus he's scared. All he can do is tell u what he knows, he has no idea how u feel and exposure is a big deal. When u really don't feel well u have to tell him and have those talks with him. He doesn't know cuz u keep busy a lot. So to him maybe he thinks ur up to doing those kind of things, Ur not around a lot of people when ur cooking so maybe he really thinks u enjoy it. U are ur own judge and speak up if u have to.

Well Miss Sandy over the pond. U've done and learned things more in 24 hrs than most people learn with a semester at school. Sounds like u r enjoying ur self tho and got some good naps in, good food and good wine. It's already Wed. here this week is flying by and I'm sure for u too.

Everyone must be busy today. My niece come over today an I didn't get my hair dyed yesterday so all has to be done today. Plus what I'm going to wear ugh, plus decide what to bring for tomorrow Now that seems easy enough, but to me it's over the top and I get all over the place in my head and then I don't even want to go. Which I hate this feeling, it's easy to just stay home for me, but I have to push myself. Then I have Saturday too. Oh I'm absolutely crazy,

    Have a great Thanksgiving Eve.

    LUBS U ALL

Lori I've actually heard of these drugs they're putting u on and I'm glad about this.I was hoping that Xeloda would stop and now it has. I'm so glad ur feeling well, that means a lot. my prayers for u my Sweet.

OK everyone lets take a pool on how many times Sandy will be hacked. At least one of us will make some money. Sandy wow I guess when they hack someone once it's easy to rehack or something. It's happening to u all the time WTF.

My e-mail issue is resolved: my ISP suspended my address when hackers used it to spam people with MIME attachments. I never send those (never even opened one), so they weren’t from me. We got the mess straightened out...for now. I need a drink, but it’ll have to be “unleaded” till dinner time. Just to be on the safe side, I’m charging my & Bob’s devices from my own USB hub plugged into a wall-wart & UK adapter. Can’t be too careful. Never use a USB charging port you don’t actually own!!

Cami - you are so insightful and you don’t even know my husband. I do need to let others know how I am feeling. That is hard for me, but I will work on it!

Goldie - well, s@#t! Progression is such a downer. We are here for you and definitely have your back! Glad there is something else to try. A whole new list of SE’s, but you are one strong woman.

Jazzy - Good luck on the second eye! Nothing better than clear eyesight!

Sandy - The gift that keeps on giving. Hacking is so profitable for the criminals and law enforcement can do so very little about it.

I am really feeling better! Getting energy back and a good mood. Even though we are having filets for dinner, I am cooking a squash casserole (kinda like dressing), a warm pineapple salad (no lettuce!) and an apple dump cake. Hope to take a hike before eating in our local National Park, Congaree Swamp. It is mainly boardwalk so not messy or too challenging. My son and his wife are really enjoying Paris. She spent a couple of summers there while in college. My son is country come to town, oohing and ahhing over everything.

    Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
