We're not going to hire a full-time nor even daily HK, although it would be nice to have someone to go down to the basement to deal with the cat litter and do laundry the way our HK did. We're looking (once we declutter some more) for someone or a service to come in once every week or two for cleaning, and we're gathering up our first hamper-full of laundry for the service for which we just signed up. Our landscaper's ex-GF is a cat-sitter for when we need to travel.
My hip is much better, now that I've started taking Tylenol prophylactically TID. I found a trigger point on my L glute, so it was probably referred pain from it. Not surprising, in that I have scoliosis that makes my spurred vertebrae intermittently impinge on the spinal nerves. My neuro gave me the direct phone # of the pain mgmt. specialist at Skokie Hosp. and urged me to try lidocaine shots before going forward with another MRI or surgery.
BangBang is a little more chill though still assertively affectionate these days, while Roxy is getting a bit less shy and is eating better. Amazingly, the wet food they like is the cheap stuff (Friskies, 9 Lives), Blue Buffalo and ProPlan Adult & Senior. Paté, but not too fine. They turn their noses up at the boutique stuff (Fromm, Weruva, Merrick), especially anything with a mousse-like texture like Sheba or FancyFeast "centers."

Good Morning, Loungettes! Happy Monday Monkey Day! I spent most of the day Saturday with Mom teaching her to use her new phone and putting her contacts in. I'm not making the mistake of showing her more than one way to do things this time. The Jitterbug Lively is pretty good, the labels are clear and large enough that she can read them. I showed her how to answer and make calls, and how to see texts and hear voice mails. I'll show her how to text later, when she's got the calling and answering down pretty well. She wrote down some instructions, too, although I'm sure that piece of paper will get lost soon enough. This phone does seem to be designed to be easy for less technologically inclined people. AND, this phone came with an owner's manual, a PRINTED one, so Mom can look things up and work things out for herself. The last phone only had the in phone/on line manual, which Mom couldn't get to, and so was no help to her. That is a major plus all by itself!
Chi--You've signed up for a laundry service? How neat! Do they pick up from the house or do you take the laundry to them? Glad to hear your hip is feeling better. Are you going to try the lidocaine shots? Funny the kitties like the less expensive wet foods. No accounting for taste, I guess. And good that they seem to like the same things, too.
Jazzy--BEAUTIFUL!

Finally got a day of sanity to get a few things done. All summer clothes are officially out and in drawers and closets. Got a decent start on my paper for my Lit. Class on themes in the novel The Color Purple that leads to loss of innocence. only has to be 8-10 pages. On the second page already.

I know many people don't like course language, so I'll just let everyone imagine me excitedly cussing a happy blue streak.
It seems Dan, my former employer, has given up the fight. My team and I all got checks for our unpaid wages claim through DoL. He has until June 10 to pay the penalty amounts, but it looks like he'll follow through to save money. (The penalties are halved if he pays out before then.) Even at half penalties, it's still $12-18,000 per teammate who filed. This will be such a boon for so many of my old crew who are just pushing to get by.
Happy, happy dance!!!

Oh finally!!! Love that news, @miriandra!!!! ❤️

Hi! I haven't been posting, but I have been reading. I went to Raleigh, NC with 3 other ladies to see one of the ladies DD graduate from Veterinarian school. It was such a great time and a very nice celebration. My cousin and her husband are coming to visit from NY and should be here in a few days, we are all getting ready for their visit. My son has a small plane (kind of old), I am going to see if he will take us to Cedar Key for lunch one day. It's only about an hour away, but it will make their trip more exciting seeing it from the air. They also are bringing their 4 wheelers and want to ride, my DD has trails by her house and they want to go to Ocala which is about 40 miles away from me. I plan on taking my 3 older GD's to Savannah Ga. for a few days. I figure that they will soon be so busy with their own lives that I wanted to make a memory with them.
Teka, I love your backyard. Jazzy, you have an artist's eye. Your flower pictures are worth hanging up!
ChiSandy, I hope that you will get your pain under control. It makes life miserable and depressing when you are in pain. I struggle with knee pain and have gotten shots in both knees which doesn't make it pain free, but it makes it tolerable. I am sure if I lost weight I would be alot better.
Goldie - sending hugs and always thinking of you.
I love reading all of the posts. Sending hugs and best wishes to all.

Thanks for all the well-wishes. I'm doing what I can with Tylenol and topical diclofenac gel (afraid to take an oral NSAID lest it fry my esophagus). I will look into getting a licodcaine shot. Bob wants to take a vacation in August, but I doubt 2 weeks of taking care of me post-op is his idea of one.

Good Morning, Loungettes! Happy Twofer Tuesday! I am currently listening to Colt barking and jumping at a fly that got in the house. Every time he jumps the house shakes! I just hope he'd be as protective if someone tried to break in as he is with this fly and the squirrel in the yard!
Mommy--hooray for the day of sanity! I hear you about the clothes, I just got a bunch of tubs that I'm going to use to put away the winter clothes and get the piles of clothes out of the way in the bedroom. 8 to 10 pages isn't too hard when you have something to say, so good for you!
Miriandra--WHOOO HOOO!!! After all this time, finally some justice for you and your teammates. $12 to #18K is not small change! Joining you in the happy dance!
Good morning to everyone! I've asked the Tenders to set up a nice buffet lunch celebration for Mommy and her team.
1 1/2 oz Beefeater Gin
1 1/2 oz Watermelon Juice
3/4 oz Lime Juice
3/4 oz Campari
1/2 oz Orgeat (BG Reynolds)
Cracked Salt (1 pinch)
Shake with ice and strain into a glass.

Morning, Loungettes! Happy Thirsty Thursday! It got hot and muggy here
yesterday, but not so much that I needed more than a couple of fans running to
be comfortable. Having a little thunder bumper going on right now. Dark as
night, some gentle rain, cool breeze, and occasional rumbles. The first one
made me jump just a little. Colt picked his head up and looked at me as if to
say "what are you jumping about?" I called to Zoe to see where she
was, she was in the bedroom and popped out to see me and then trotted right
back to her favorite spot on the bed, after moving all the clean laundry out of
her way. So I guess storms don't bother them much at all!Misty--It
sounds like you have had a great time traveling and visiting with family!Chi--I'm
hoping your pain resolves quickly.Mommy--good
work on the paper!THE

We had a safe trip to MN. The first two days were sunny with perfect road conditions. The third day, Tuesday, we had rain and it was raining on our arrival. We opened up the 5th wheel camper, got the slides out, the electricity turned on, the pipes flushed out and flowing with fresh water, and moved in what we needed for the night. Yesterday we moved the rest of the stuff inside. I went grocery shopping. So we're HERE for the summer if all goes well.
We took our martinis next door to Mary and Lyman's deck yesterday at 5 pm for the first Happy Hour of the summer, albeit a cool Happy Hour. The temperatures have been in the 50's. Fine with us though not with Mary and Lyman who were bundled up like Eskimos. LOL.
Thinking of Goldie and hoping she's enjoying the company and support of family.

Something weird is going on with the formatting on this website. All of a sudden, when I go to a forum, it doesn't open up with the new, unread posts but opens to posts I've read. Is anyone else having a similar experience?
My favorite beverage today is coffee. We're having cool rainy weather which didn't prevent us from going to town to our favorite diner for breakfast.

Carole, I was just thinking the same thing. Haven’t I read this already? I’m on my phone so I don’t know if that’s the problem.

The end of the school year is within sight. Last day is June 5th - 6 work days for me as I don't work Fridays.

I'm on a desk top and haven't had any problems. Did one of you report to the MODS?
Teka - thanks for keeping track. I sure do miss her and worry when she doesn't post.

I'm on a relatively new MacBook Pro running the latest Safari, and not only is the same thing (zombie posts) happening, but this is the first time today I've been able to bring up any threads. All day long, the arrow cursor wouldn't turn to a "hand," and I couldn't open up anything. Not a memory or browser issue—all other websites behaved just fine. Had to close out this tab, reopen it, log back in, and navigate to "My bookmarks." Whew! If I felt like I needed a drink I'd have had one. Instead, a few more swigs of water.

I'm on my usual laptop. Another thing I've noticed is the posts shows up and then another post with no text.
Enjoying a relaxed Sunday morning after going to our first farmers market of the summer season yesterday. Lots of people out enjoying a sunny day, some of them in tee shirts while I was wearing three layers. It was good to see some of the other vendors and a number of our customers from past summers came by to say hello and see what was new.
We have some new people in Pine Hollow Resort so it will be interesting to see how the dynamics develop.
Worried about Goldie.
