Wahine - ok, do tell about your diet.  You can eat what you want and you're losing 5-6 lbs a month???

I am so pooped.  We went to the NASCAR race today (my work sponsors a car and we host customers in the chalet).  I had a couple beers, cut out of the race early, went to go visit our friend's son in the hospital and then had mexican food (and a margarita) - YUM!

Our friend's son was hit by a school district truck, while he was riding his bike to school.  He's in ICU, but doing ok.  His leg is broken in 7 places and his neck is fractured.  The doctor said he should heal well.  Luckily, he's a kid.  Suck, though!  :(

Kittycat, So sorry to hear about your friend's son being hit by that truck! Poor kid...its good that he should heal okay, but he must be in pain, etc. Glad it wasn't worse, and he will make it! The diet is the "Flat Belly Diet" by the editor of Prevention Mag...you can check out their website (google it), or prob get the book from the library. I like it cause it has lots of foods that I like! I think the main thing is to find something that you like, and that will work for you....and this is the first one that works for me, and that I enjoy. IT starts with a 4 day "jumpstart" that is the only hard part. I also liked the "Fat Resistance Diet", but there was too much food prep on that one. Hope this helps! K

KK, glad to hear that young man is going to be ok! I am in your neck of the woods, but will be leaving later this afternoon, after walking The Venetian".

NM, you did a great describing The HTL (The Hot Tatties Lounge) for PB. Also PB, we call those two young men, that wait on us hand and foot, our Tattie Tenders. Instead of Bar Tenders. We hope you come back.

Ok, I need to get ready for more walking. My dogs hurt so bad! Played a little last night and the night before. Down about $20!

    Happy Monday

"March winds and April showers, bring forth May flowers".... OK May, come on, we are ready for you and ready for all this winter weather to end! Cannot believe they are predicting snow tonight and tomorrow am, when I am supposed to leave. Granted, it won't be much (well, hopefully not much), but any amount can paralyze the city.

Kittycat, Another benefit of "The Flat Belly Diet" are the health benefits....when I had my blood work done last week, my numbers had improved a LOT. CHOL was way down, as well as LDL.

Lori, Looks like you need some comfy shoes! They showed some funny "shoes" on The Doctors show recently...they have toe shapes...looks like a colorful foot....but is supposed to be extremely comfortable...like being barefoot but with cushioning and protection. Not sure I would want to wear that out anywhere though....LOL. If you end up just down that much, that is GOOD for Vegas!!! But I hope you end the day a winner!

Of course I didn't get packed yesterday so a mad scramble today! Maybe I should wake up with a good strong Irish Coffee...or a Bloody Mary....WTH....Pants, please bring me BOTH drinks!!! Nice day here at the HTL....but where is everyone.....pretty lonely here today!

    Aloha Nui Loa,

    Kathy

Hi ladies - hope everyone is well!

NM - It's my understanding that Absinthe is the drink that many writers and artists consumed (years ago in France/England?) to induce a hallucinogenic state and see the "Green Fairy" - which I presume also acted as a muse to the artistic types.  Absinthe itself is a beautiful spring green color, and it's served by placing a flat, slotted spoon over a glass, then placing a sugar cube on the spoon & pouring the alcohol over to dissolve the sugar. I just thought you might be looking for something a little different to alleviate your cabin fever :)

Kittycat - so sorry to hear of your friends' son. Hope he's feeling better soon.

and hey, I thought everyone has flat bellies at the HTL???? I dropped mine in the coatroom before jumping in the pool.  Have a great day everyone!! xo, E

Welcome, PB.  Glad you like Mohitos--means you'll stay out of my beer bucket!  (...several people here help themselves to my beer--which is fine since our cyber bar tenders fill it right back up!)

Dee--picked a team name yet?   Sad about your friend's son--sure hope that school district's liability insurance is paid up!!!

Lori--hope you had a successful trip!   Hope all are starting to see some signs of spring.  I've seen a few Robins.  Hoping to see the annual flock of Bluebirds soon.   There will be about 20 or so that hang out in the back yard for a few days.  They don't nest in our trees, though--think the dog scares them off.

Off to the pool for a few ML's, then--going to cyber morph into a ball of lint and get in Kathy's pocket!  I'm ready for another trip!!!

    HUGGGSSSS to all!!!

Well junie, you can delay getting in my pocket for one more day....I just changed my flts to leave on Wed instead. Looks like not only are we expecting snow, but Atlanta is expecting a winter storm, so was able to change res at n/c. Better safe than sorry (esp being stranded in Atlanta in case it does hit). I know my parents will be disappointed, but I will arrive sooner in the day, and better than having them drive across the island late at night to pick me up. The funny thing is, my DH is playing racquetball, and doesn't know this....think I will have some fun, and go on and on about how I really don't think I should leave tomorrow...etc. Will be funny cause he has been getting teary-eyed about missing me already....LOL.

So, lets get this party started!!! I don't have to finish packing yet!!!!

Good morning gals....looks like I may have made a good decision to delay my trip..snowing a lot here, although the roads may be clear. Satellite is down so can't get the news yet....not sure if Atlanta will be impacted, like they expected, or not. Hope everyone is having a good Tuesday!!!

kittycat, Alcohol is allowed in moderation....just not during the 4 day "jump start"....so I still have my seagrams/diet coke, or whatever I am in the mood for! If you have alcohol, you should exercize to make up for the calories, or eat less at one of the meals...just so you have around 1600cal, and have the "mufa"s  (monounsaturated fatty acids) with each meal, which is where the chocolate, nuts, olive oil, peanut butter, avocado, etc. comes in! Hope you check it out! We ate out yesterday, and I have been cheating a bit, but still keeping the weight off.

Snowed in, but its so pretty!

Kathy, I'm sorry about your snow and snow delay but better to be home than stuck in an airport somewhere! Tongue out Enjoy the prettiness of it! It's just cold and gloomy here.....

I wanted to say "cheers" to me for crossing (this week? next week? don't remember!) my 5-year dx/surgery cancerversary. Yea! To celebrate my 5-year post chemo and 50th birthday I'm having a party in June - cant wait! Cool

YAY!!!! CONGRATS jaybird on your 5 yr cancerversary!!!!! That is a good milestone to celebrate...I think we need a PARTAY here...I am sure our TT's will be happy to oblige. I am glad I delayed my trip till tomorrow....kept watching the flt I would have been on from ATL-LAX and it was delayed a couple of hrs while "awaiting takeoff", and I would have missed the HI flt. Glad I made a good decison....you just never know, but I felt sorry for those passengers waiting on that plane sooooo long (as well as other flts). I'm sure you encounter that a lot!

Again, I am SO happy for you, jaybird!!!

    Party Hearty,

    Kathy

Kathy, I hope you are able to make it out today. How surprised was hubby? And I hope you got packed!

Junie, hope you made it into K's suitcase. I had too many hot flashes in HI, so I'll just wait to hear from the two of you, as to how wonderful it was!

PB, I will join you in having a mohito, I really like those!

Jaybird, a big WOOO HOOOOO to you! That is a great milestone. I spent my 50th b-day on a plane going to Tulsa for chemo the next day. But the flight attendants on the plane fixed me up a little gift bag, with rubber gloves blown up for balloons and made an announcment over the PA system. Then at the cancer center, they brought me a cake and sang. So, it was a memorable one!

No big wins in Vegas, we did a little antiquing too. Bought a few things at the show, for us! Came home and actually worked outside in my garden for awhile.....Spring is on the way!

    Cheers! Lori

Thanks everyone! Laughing No big celebration planned, not until June. I hope at least ONE of my friends decides to show up to the party but if not I'll just drink all by myself. Tongue out

The painter just left, his first day of 3 or 4. He said my contractor was a "hack" and I said "he sure was" and that I still get upset over the quality (or lack thereof) of the work. Oh well, it's almost over. Carpeting to get laid next week then all the furniture moved back upstairs and my downstairs back to 'normal'. Cheers to all!

Aloha gals! Got here (finally) last night after being stuck on the planes at each airport for a couple of hrs before takeoff! Weather is so nice and cool now, don't you agree junie? At least you should have been cool once I let you out of my pocket....LOL. Rained all night, but so nice to wake up to tropical breezes, birds singing, and beautiful skies! Wish you all were here with me!!! Gotta go shopping now to get more of the ono local foods...yummmmmmm.....

How about a Mai Tai or Blue Hawaii drink today??? They're on me....lets just get Pants and Jocks to make up bit pitchers for all of us. OK junie, we'll have buckets of chilled ML's also!!

Aloha loungies!!!  Kathy--thanks for finally letting me out of your pocket--Hawaii is more beautiful than I remembered!   Glad we arrived safely.   One of the good things about being a lint ball in your pocket--everytime I smoked a cigarette on that long flight, you thought you were having a hot flash!!!

BIG SIGH and back to reality.   Gotta get packing; leaving early a.m. for long road trip to Dallas.  Not sure when/where I will have net connections, so an early TGIF to ALL and have a great weekend!!!  (for sure, I'd rather be with Wahine!!))

    big huggssss to everyone!

Oh, gawd, I SO need a drink!!! Spent 3 hours at IKEA with Avery trying to decide on some bedroom furniture for her. Am still undecided as I have to do 'cheap' but want her to be able to grow into it and not out of it in a year or two. I swear I don't think that her teenage years will be as hard as her toddler years are! Or if they are hopefully I'll be senile by then.....

The par-tay is June 26th, my pad. Be there or be square. Have room for dogs and people but there are hotels nearby if privacy is needed. I'll figure out the 'gameplan' when I know who's coming. May just go into the city in a limo if it's just a few or may just have my friend cook up a feast (he's quite a chef!) if a lot show up. Kind of waiting to see what happens before making final plans. But I think I'll just be drunk for 3 days, all weekend long! Surprised (I have vacation the 24th-30th)

I'm going to open a bottle of wine as soon as Avery is tucked into bed! Cheers!
