    Kathy,

What is happening with Junie? Why does she need surgery? I'm so confused, I know you said she has a collapsed lung but did I miss something more that is going on? Why by ambulance, sounds awfully scary. Sorry I must have missed things.

Stanzie, I am getting bits and pieces, but from what I gather, she had surgery Monday for the collapsed lung, and apparently there was a hole, and they were hoping it would close. But it must not have, as they sent her to St.Louis to a hospital with a great pulmonary dept., and she told me she wasn't sure if they would operate tonight or tomorrow. I wish I knew more, but it is hard talking to her in that condition. I don't want to tire her out. I *think* it may be related to the horrid sinus/respiratory inffection she had since October, that never quite went away. I am sure when she is back here at the HTL with us, she can tell us exactly what happened. But for now, I will update whenever I know anything. Wish one of us was near that hospital and could see her! Sorry if I confused you; it all happened so quickly. But she thinks of all of us here, and wants me to let you all know how she is doing. What a sweetie she is!

Oh, Kathy, this is freightening. I am glad that you are in touch with Junie and also speaking with her DH. We appreciate the updates and will not stop praying for her surgery to go perfecty and for her to get home soon. It must be especially hard on you as you girls are quite close.  And I am sorry about the error I made with NM's Grammy. I feel so bad for her, it is not easy letting go of a loved one. I hope her passing is peaceful for all around her, will be praying for NM and family.  I can only hope and pray that my folks hang on for another twenty years or so. They are in their 70's but do have health issues that are getting serious. You are blessed to have your parents with you, seems longevity runs in the lounge family!

Claire and I are at the lounge and just prayed for all of us here. I also prayed for world peace, never give up! Claire is drinking from the bottle, gosh, she needed that. And I will be drinking Kath's dog beers since she is not in a party mood :(

Beans, thanks for checking in and great job in eating your pb cups, you done good and I am mighin' proud. Enjoy the rest of your getaway and be good.

To all of you ladies, have a good night and sleep well!

I am back from the Wine Bar and had some delish potions.  Some leftover soup and I am ready for bed.  Hoping to get up and do some serious skiing tomorrow.

Still really worried about Junie and will be praying for her.

I might as well have been swigging from the bottle tonight.  Think (fortunately) that I was a bit more delicate as I slugged it down.  Started with great champagne, and then moved on to serious red.

Night everyone.  I need my rest and to get my equilibrium back.  Too much going on, and wine (believe it or not) isn't quite what I need.  Hoping for super skiing.  - Claire

I'm just hoping for sleep! Second night of not being able to fall asleep. Kathy thank you, and thank you for keeping us informed - gosh she must be awfully scared. When I was in the hospital for so long with my boys they thought I had a blood clot in my lungs but it turned out they had filled with fluid cause I was so absolutly terrified of giving birth too soon and losing my babies I didn't more at all for three days on those awful hard labor beds. One of the boy's heads was also under my ribs so that didn't help either. Anyway, I remember how painful it was in my lungs so I hope she is on some very good meds to help her and she is out of danger very soon. Will certainly keep her in thoughts and prayers.

Tomorrow is a long day - first to take my elderly music director and his wife to their "adopted" daughter's Mother's funeral tomorrow. Both are in wheelchairs so it takes a while to get them places. Then I take them home and off to a norther suburb where I'm helping my good friend with her daughter and her friend's Sweet 16 party! 70-135 teenagers! Yikes. They have a dressy winter wonderland theme and the place they rented is brown and dark yellow so some major transformations will be made late afternoon.

I guess we are supposed to get snow on Sunday but not supposed to do anything bad till midday on Monday! As long as we don't lose power I can deal with it..... Yikes. Of course my refridgerator/freezers are stuffed full! Keeping fingers crossed.

happy skiing for Claire....Hope for the rest of the weekend to have good news!!!

Stanzie, WOW you need super powers to make it through today. Sounds like some major decorating will be needed....and you can borrow the Wenches to help you. Both tasks will take major energy, and I bet the party will be super....guess it will include boys, so gotta keep your radar on them all.....LOL. Good luck, and come to the lounge afterwards for a nightcap (or several)!

Girls, with what is going on with junie, it makes me even more aware of wanting to get in touch with any of you should something happen. Would everyone make sure that someone here has contact info for you....either address, email addy, or phone no? Just pm whoever you feel closest to, or send me a pm and I will keep that info and will keep it private for you. Its just too scary when we don't hear from someone for awhile, and that is why junie wanted me to let you know what she was going through. She knew if she didn't post for awhile that everyone would wonder. IF you would rather not give any of that info out, that is perfectly ok, just please then have a close friend or family member contact us on our thread to let us know how you are doing, in case you can't post for awhile. OKAY???? Mucho gracias, mahalo, many thanks!

Okay now that is over with, lets get on to some serious drinking! Well, maybe later on today. I hope to take my mom to the mall, although it is frigid cold today & windy. Our heavy snow should start Sunday afternoon or evening, then all day Monday. Guess it will be time to just hunker down, stay inside, and drink some amazing drinks! I got a portable little tv yesterday, as last time we had snow we lost the satellite connection, so hoping with this we can keep up with the weather. I hate it that the satellite goes out just when we need it most.....like tornadic weather, storms, etc! Sheesh.

Hoping and praying you are doing better today junie! Will check in with you later today, but you are still in our prayers, and we are so glad you are at such an excellent facility now! Hope DH was able to get Pancho  to "camp" before the long trip. And all my breast friends here, I hope you have a mahvelous weekend....skiing, entertaining kids, road trip, resting, visiting loved ones, etc!

    Aloha Nui Loa,

    Kathy

Kathy, you are doll! Thank you for the update on Junie. Wishing her all the best. Tell her I have been dipping into her bucket (as always) but will make sure it is replenished and several of them when she returns. Sorry to hear about your finger, at least it wasn't your toe!

NM, like Dottie, I have not had a grandparent for a LONG time. 1 grandma, that passed when I was young as well. The others, when I was a child and a grandpa that was gone before I was even born. So enjoy your time with her, I'm sure you will have lots of fond memories of her. So here is to celebrating Grammy's life.

Stanzie, I'm there with on the sleepness nites. Fortunately I had a good one last night! I couldn't imagine going through all that during the birth of child. YIKES!

Forgot who said something about hot flashes, but I hope you don't get them bad. That is one of the reasons for my sleepness nights. Someone here on the boards has there signature as "I am the reason for global warming" that is me as well!

Beans, glad you checked in, good girl on taking your pills. YOU CAN DO IT! Besides, it is way easier than chemo and rads! The fatigue should go away, but I can't make any promises about the chemo brain, besides it's always a good excuse. Wink

Dottie, I can't beleive you actually found and inflatable chapel............FUNNY! I found a few other fabric samples that we can look at.

Happy weekend to all, and DOG BEER CHEERS TO JUNIE!

Goldie - I LOVE the fabrics you found. I think I like the third one best, it will match the chocolate theme yet add a soft touch. I was also surprised to find a pic of the exterior of our Chocolate Chapel. I am praying so hard and for so much. It seems that so many need prayers. Nice to see you and I am glad you finally had a good night sleep.

Stanzie, did you have twin boys? I can't even imagine going through that and the fear of loosing a baby, yikes. I am glad your outcome was good.  I am also hoping that our Junie is not suffering and gets back here quickly.

Kathy, you are so kind to think of all of us.

We are having our second snow storm of the week and expecting a big one on Tuesday. I am house bound today and glad I got my bread and milk yesterday.  We only got three inches of snow yesterday but it is coming down hard now.

Claire, that is so cool that you friend was on TV.  I watched the video and wish I could go on that show and have a makeover.  Happy SkiDay to you. Stay warm and no frost bite!!

I am just going to hang at the lounge and sit by the fire. Ahhh, so pretty! Who wants to join me?  Seems most of you are quite busy but I am stuck in the house. Might as well get my drinks on!

Hey everyone!  This thread moves soooo fast!  Sorry to hear about everyone's latest struggles.  I'm glad we can all come here for support.  :)

I think I's officially going to be a non-alcoholic!  LOL!  I had 2 beers last night with dinner.  DH and I went out last night.  I feel like crud this morning.  My DH also feels crappy and had only 2 beers.  We had different kinds of beers, so this is strange.  Well, anyway, I will have to drink our virtual drinks here at the HTL.  When I celebrate my last day of rads, I guess I'll have to go shopping instead of drinking.  Here's to retail therapy (much better than chemotherapy).  Cheers!!!

Hi Kittycat, Did you have your beers at a microbrewery? Wonder if something might have been wrong with all their beer? Strange that you and DH both felt crappy after just 2....if the beers are ok, then maybe he is having sympathy pains (!). Can't have you abstain from drinking!!!!

Dorothy, I like Lori's 3rd fabric best, also BUT, you might want to delete your email addy, as there are lots and lots of people that read our thread but never post. Just don't want someone sending spam to your email! I did jot it down, and hope some of the regulars here did, also. Much better to send pm's for personal stuff like that. I should have stressed that more....sorry! Ohhhh I like that roaring fire....might need it tomorrow night especially!

Going shopping....(before the storm keeps us house-bound),

Thanks for all the prayers and thoughts.  I had a lovely visit with Gram this morning, had her all to myself until noontime.  Gram is very comfortable, and the nursing home staff is as attentive as anyone could want.  She was very happy to see my uncle who flew in from Texas and got in early this morning.  He's going to sit with her this afternoon and evening.  Got to be quite a crowd there with my uncle, his girlfriend, my mom and her partner, and one of my aunts so I came home.  The family and staff are giving her anything she wants whenever she wants it, but her wants aren't much--sips of water, coffee, or tea, a spoonful or two of pudding, being repositioned every few hours.  Her mind is still sharp as a tack, even though her body is failing. I think she's ready to move on now that my uncle is home.  She's outlived half her 8 children, 1 daughter-in-law, 2 sons-in-law, and one granddaughter.   I managed to keep her from finding out that I had bc for 3 years, this summer I had to let my mom tell her about my diagnosis because she'd picked up on a lot of little things and had figured out that something serious was wrong with either me or my mom.  I never wanted her to know, she's lost so many family members to cancer, and I knew she'd be upset and scared for me.

Oh, my, I didn't intend to ramble on like that--thanks to everyone for letting me go on.

OH NM, I am glad the visit went well, and that she has her mind intact. My Nana lived to be almost 102, and we all loved her so much, but for several years she didn't know any of us. Her body was still healthy, but her mind had gone. So, for me, it seemed like I had really lost her many years earlier. We visited her sister (my aunt) in Hawaii, in the same retirement home, who is now over 101, and she still knew my mom, although she had a stroke a few months ago, so her health is declining. I know this is such a sad time for you, and the rest of your family. Hugs to you ((((NativeMainer))))

Wow, so sad about the shootings in AZ. Bet it is all over your news too, Lori. People are just CRAZY! Why can't they just mellow out and have a drink or two???/ Speaking of that, I just got home a few minutes ago, and starting Happy Hour right now! Anyone care to join me? Looks like Pants is trying out some new recipes, and has some fantastic "Celebration of Life" drinks made up too, thanks to NM. The bar is FULL of fantastic looking drinks!!!! Bottoms Up! Titz Up!

        UPDATE...........UPDATE...........UPDATE

Ok fellow loungettes, I just talked with Junie. She said to tell you all that she has been kidnapped and taken to St. Louis, and is resting "uncomfortably". They have not done surgery, and right now she is not sure what they have in mind. Their DD's good friend is a dr there, and will be back tomorrow, so I hope that dr can make sure they are doing the best for her. They even keep changing her pain meds...when one works, they switch it out and give her a different one....sheesh. I know she wasn't feeling as well, cause I could understand her too well tonight. So the pain meds weren't doing their job. I told her about everyone still thinking of her, praying for her, and sent love from all of us. She wants to get online, but isn't quite up to it. I'll check back with her tomorrow.

    Signing off,

    Kathy

P.S. They are thinking we will have more snow than we have had in almost 25 yrs...AND there might be snow with thunder....someone here (NM?) mentioned seeing that recently....I'll have to see if the sky changes color. Looks like maybe 8" of snow predicted now.....how bout for you Stanzie? What are they predicting?

NM, so nice to hear of your visit with Gram. That is just sooo nice!

Kathy, thanks again for the info on Junie. Shootings in AZ? I have not had the telly on all day, so I am not aware of what is going on. Just hate to hear of things like that. Hope you and Stanzie don't get snowed in. Ours is almost gone, snow on the ground here for a week, doesn't happen too often!

Good to see you Ms Kitty, just sorry to hear that you and hubby got some ickies after only a couple of beers. Hope you are both feeling better real soon.

Still havin my dog beers with Junie!  You take care my friend and get well real soon. Don't let the docs look under the bed! (we are all camping out under there)

Oh my Good God Goldie - the pews look amazing. I am getting tears in my eyes.  I am going to run to the HTL's choco-church now, say some prayers then come back and hang at the bar. Our lounge chapel has come so far. Many thanks Goldie.  And I think we should dedicate our chapel to our darling dear friend, Junie. Ohhhhh, these chairs are so comfy, awesome job Goldie.  Here is hoping you have a great night sleep tonight.

I am drinking tonight and have already had four dotd's. Here is to long life, great DOTD choice NM.  This one is for your dear Grammy. Cheers!  Glad to hear that the visit went well as can be expected.  God Bless her!

Wahine, thanks so much for keeping us posted. I am hoping for nothing but happy news when we hear from you again. I miss her here and hope she can get on here soon. I also wish all of her pain away. There is a God box at the entrance to the chapel and I have left a special prayer for her in that box. Please feel free to drop of your prayers so that God has them in writing, we are keeping him busy for sure.

Stanize, I am also wishing you a great night sleep, I hope that you are able to sleep through the night and wake up rested. And I hope that you got through your busy day alright.  Kudos to you for helping others. I admire that. ☺

To the rest of you, have a great night and thanks for having me as a platinum member of the lounge.  You all welcomed me with open arms and I truly care about each and every one of you. It is so nice to come here and share our feelings and many of which no one would understand.

Well I see Pants again, he must be working 24/7 for us. He is stocking the chapel for tomorrow's service. Hope to see you all there!

Beans, I miss ya still, it is not the same here without you.  Here's a toast to you and your new niece - cheers!  And cheers to you all.

I did get a laugh out of junie when I told her we now have a chapel at the HTL!!! Thanks to Dorothy! Dorothy, I agree.....I keep hoping for good news too, when I talk to junie.

Stanzie, Hope the day & night went well, and you can SLEEP tonight! Maybe relax with some wine after you get home. Also, did you ever try melatonin? Sure works for me....I take it maybe 30 min b4 I want to crawl into bed. My mom takes a benadryl tablet along with the melatonin, and it helps her too. Good luck, and hope you get some sleep!

I am just coming up for air.  Had a fab day skiing.  My knees complained, but I told them TUFF, only 11 more miles.  I did have to take a few rest breaks, and think I was generally tired.

Then I can home and worked for 2 hours to get in good shape for the week ahead.  Was horrified to hear of the shooting.

Dinner is a-cooking, or at least I am roasting sweet potatoes to have with pork chops and some gnocchi and braised baby bok choy.  Already drinking some red wine.

NM.....so glad you got to see your grandmother.  These things are super-important.  I remember my mother wanting to keep things from her aunt, but her aunt figured it all out anyway.  So much better you show up in fine form.

The chapel at the hotel reminds me that a year ago, I contributed an extra bottle to my church as I was draining the Communion Wine.  It was the only alcohol I was getting, and was it ever good!!! (Communion wine is good at my church as we use Port, given by the congregation, and usually at least decent stuff.)

My sore muscles are feeling a lot better with some wine in me.

Thinking of Junie, and will definitely offer up prayers now and at Church in the AM.

Going up skiing with a friend tomorrow.  He will ski the easy stuff.  Amazed he still talks to me as was OK until I took him skiing.  Then PT, yoga, and a host of other ills.

Hi to everyone, and thanks for the support.  Scrambling around getting ready for classes to start tomorrow, and trying not to think too much about other things.  Didn't sleep worth s%!# last couple of nights, so I'm really tired and not really able to concentrate.  Ah, well. such is life.

I think we need to add some melatonin to the evening cocktails, so everyone can get a good nights sleep! Although it didn't work well for me last night, it usually helps a lot. NM, Hope you have enough time to get ready for classes tomorrow, but as organized as you seem to be, I think you will get it done! I've been asking DH all day to at least get out our snow shovel b4 this big event, but he is napping right now...tsk, tsk.  He doesn't have my work ethic, but after being around my dad so much he now knows where I got that from!  I know he won't want to shovel, but I might do it if it is handy. We so rarely get to use a snow shovel (and are prob the only ones in our neighborhood with one), unlike where you are NM, and some of the other galz here..

Stanzie, are you R-E-A-D-Y for the "S" word to arrive? I'm excited, and hope it really does materialize, but then again not ready to hear about all the wrecks, and possibility of losing power. Bet your kids are excited about it, esp getting to miss school. I love seeing all the creative snowmen that crop up around here when we get snow. Update: Just realized AL is now under a "State of Emergency" cause of the impending weather, and ATL has cancelled HUNDREDS of flights ALREADY!

Looks like we don't have a DOTD for today....but maybe some strong Irish Coffees to get everybody in gear today.....like that earlier cartoon with the "butt in gear".
