J/K....anyone else can join in, as the Wenches look bored and they can whip up some wicked drinks! Sorry that tomorrow is Monday, and hope your dr visit goes well! He won't have to syringe any more fluid will he? IF so, make sure its 80 proof at least. OH NOOOOOOOOO don't talk taxes already.....we always do it at the last minute anyway, so I don't want to even hear the "T" word for awhile!!! Let's gossip....anyone who doesn't want to be talked about better come and join us asap!!!!

Hi Dorothy, glad to have more company.....more the merrier. How's your implants treating you?   I am kinda missing my girl Beans too.  I know she is on vacation but I can't hardly stand not getting a small dose of Beanglish.  Oh well, everyone needs their breaks.  I am drinking CA wine tonight.  It is cheap but doesn't bite much at all.  It is a Beringer Merlot.  I was happily surprised with this one as my pocketbook doesn't always allow me to buy my favorites.  Oh, I hope it helps me sleep tonight too.  Otherwise...the pill bottle will be coming out.  I did quite a bit of dusting and cleaning today.  For those of you living in small apartments or townhouses...it can be tiring to clean a home with basement, main floor, and upper.  Seems like so many of us have sleeping problems induced by hot flashes, anxiety, etc.  Can't they make a non habitual drug that can knock our A$$ out?  Well, going to dangle my feet in the hot tub, gossip, and wait for more to show!  HD

Cold and snow in Denver....not sure how much we got, but its been snowing on and off all day....and its COLD and getting COLDER over the next couple days....below zero at night.....sure glad my Monday commute tomorrow is close to home till lunch time as I have a morning training, but in the afternoon, its 1/2 drive, so I'm sure after school the commute will be stinky!!!  DD has science fair at school tomorrow and from 5 -6 is parent time to see all the display boards and they announce winners.....thinking I'll be spending a lot of time in the car in the afternoon!!!  DH has shovelled the driveway a couple times already today....Lots of delays at DIA, but I don't think there are any cancelled flights...watching the news, but not paying close attention (can't do that anymore when I'm on the computer).....DH leaves early tomorrow morning for his annual sales meeting....it is in Savannah GA....I think he flies into Charleston SC (or is is Atlanta...hope not if the airport is cancelling flights).....the sales meeting starts tomorrow evening so he has to get there!!!!

DS starts classes at U Hawaii tomorrow....he met one of his roommates today...from Maui...still has to meet the other 2.....he's loving the weather there....went for a bike ride yesterday and crashed his bike...nice case of road rash...fortunately both he and the bike are okay....DH had to remind him that road bikes are not the same as mountain bikes!!!

DD is selling girl scout cookies....so far only done emails....not the weather outside today to be traipsing around the neighborhood....I won't tell you how many years I've sold cookies between my 2 daughters...(and my daughters are 12 years apart)....I'm getting old!!!!

Made a big pot of barely split pea soup....going to cook some potatoes with onions and mushrooms to enjoy with it (nice carbs!!!)....nothing like a pot of soup on a cold day....of course will have a couple glasses of wine with dinner....I think I have to do some work for work tonight...write a couple reports, so can't drink too much at dinner, but sure can after I'm done....

Junie.....so glad to see you posting.....as the other gals said, hoping that your lungs heal themselves without any surgery....you take care of yourself and we will all have a drink or two for you.....

Wishing everyone a good Monday...Stay safe, warm and dry.....Hugs, Karen

Wow so much to comment on....

Kathy - you have my info, correct? They recently updated and at first they thought we would get 6 inches of snow now the update isn't so good now not as much snow and more freezing ice which means falling trees and no power! I so hope not!!!! Always very scary. But if I'm not line for a while or Kathy you all will no we have lost power.... Kids are excited about no school possiblilty - they never will let us know till early morning... so you have to get up anyway.

NM - so glad you had such a nice visit with your Grandmother and if she did end up learning on your bc I'm sure it helped to see you looking as lovely as I imagine you as I know you are inside by all your posts. I know this time is still very hard so hope you will get to see her again for another visit. I do believe though a lot of people do wait for someone to either come or to leave.

Junie - amazing that you were able to post. Sounds like the surgery is a bit scary so I so hope your lung co-operated and reinflates on its own. Hope I got all this correct....

My friend's daughter's sweet 16 party was amazing!! Boy a lot went into the whole thing. Everything looked wonderful and all the kids had a fabulous time. I didn't stay to help clean up as I was just worn out and to tell the truth the very loud music just wore me out. Forgot how terribly loud a teenage party can be. Anyway, if I can figure out how to post a picture I'll do it. I took sleeping pill last night and melatonin ( yes K. I'm taking that as well) anyway, I was so exhausted it worked and I slept but still groggy even now but might not be able to sleep tonight.

Goldie - how do you do it! The pews look amazing. Oh shoot or was it HD. Oh, can't look back a page without losing what I've written so far. Sorry...

Hope everyone gets good night sleep and keeps power. thanks!!!

Stanzie, Glad the party went well! And that you are on melatonin too....my mom was able to kick her sleeping pills to the curb and just takes melatonin and benydryl (sp?), as her dr suggested. YIKES>.....sorry to hear your forecast has changed....ice is terrible. But with this kind of weather, the forecast is sometimes "iffy"....and I am hoping you will not get all that ice. WIth the system coming, our school systems cancelled tomorrows classes very early today. ATL will be a nightmare w/all the cancelled flts. We go thru there on our way to Alaska on the 18th, but if nothing here melts, that might be tricky. Yes, I do have your contact info. And like you said, girlz, if you don't hear from Stanzie or me, you can figure that we lost power. THe satellite has been going out a lot tonight. and nothing has hit the ground yet. I'm glad I got that little portable digital tv in case I can get a reception on it if we lose satellite. DH just got back from running the water and turning up the heat in the townhouse in case we can't get there in a couple of days when the lows will really plummet.

Karen, my g'dau(daisy scout) is selling cookies too. Her mom (my oldest DD) is the leader (as well as cub scouts), and my youngest DD was a GS leader too for her 2 girls. I was a brownie and a GS leader, with my girls in my troops, and my mom was a leader when I was a brownie, in HI. I think GS cookies were prob 50 cents when I sold them as a brownie! The cool thing is, I have a picture that was in the newspaper of me in my brownie uniform, and my youngest DD had her pic in the newspaper too, in her brownie uniform! Being a leader was a lot of work though....loved the girls, and we had lots of trips ...but tooooo much paperwork. Did you tell your DS that I went to HS across the street from UH (part of the campus)? I am glad he is enjoying the weather...this is a nice time of year!

Well not too much gossip....that was a good way to have so many girlz show up! LOL. Since junie posted, I didn't call her today, but will try to reach her tomorrow. Yeah, HD, I miss Beans too.....need our dose of beanglish!!!! Can't wait to see your new niece's pic!

Snowy, snowy night (tune of Starry Starry Night)....Paint your palette white with snow, Look out on a winter's day; With eyes that see the brightness of HTL.....

I am back from skiing and headed to a HOT BATH.  Sore in places I didn't know there were places!!!!  Wonderful conditions, even if getting there and back was a bit challenging driving.

About 8" of fresh and not groomed since last night, so heavy going.  I didn't go quite to the top today as wanted to get back as knew "extreme driving" would be the second sport.  Not quite that bad, but did take some time and doing to get down.

My skin looks great so suspect that getting my face blasted with driving snow works as well as thermage.  Nice to have that glow.

Butt hurts big time, because of all the climbing and also because I landed on it getting off the chairlift.

Junie.....so glad that you were able to post, and really hoping you are on the mend soon.

I forget where all the ice and snow is headed (other than sea level here), so keep tight and slow down.

Will be joining you a bit later.  Meanwhile cHairs (as in chair lift). - Claire

    Mawhine...forgot to tell DS that....but heck he's 21...he wouldn't be impressed !!!!!

Enjoying a glass of Cabernet....need to have another so I can finish the bottle!!!

Hubby is flying through Charlotte NC (not Charlottesville) on way to Savannah..

DD is hoping school is cancelled tomorrow, but I doubt that will happen....not enough snow or dire enough conditions to cancel school.

oh Girl Scout cookies, what a weakness, Kathy, bring some to the htl.  That way there are fat free.  I will have two boxes of those peanut butter sandwich ones and six boxes of thin mint.  I am nearly salivating over the thought.

hey HD, nice to see you.  I agree that Beringer makes a great wine for the money, I like the Merlot and the Zinfandel too.  I find them great sleep helpers. I can't afford to buy the good stuff either but get by on mediocre.  I like coming to the lounge where the drinks are free and I can mix with pain pills and fukitol too.  Ahhh, life is good. I am parking my tired ass on a hammock and will tell stories of my girl scouting days,  gather around...Yawn~~

    Happy New Year to All,

Not much new.  Went back to work last week, YUK.  Off for six months since my last surgeries.  My next surgery is April, to replace the tissue expanders with the real, gummy bear implants!  Hurrah!  Then begins the whole nipple debate, recon vs. tattoo, but that's another board.

Cheers to you all, and much love, and I leave you with a fave quote/poem:

Come to the Edge - Christopher Logue

    "Come to the edge."
    "We can't. We're afraid."

    "Come to the edge."
    "We can't. We will fall!"

    "COME TO THE EDGE!"

    And they came.
    And he pushed.
    And they flew.

Stanzie, Glad the kids get the day off! We have lots of snow already too....just been snowing about an hr and already several wrecks, and all flts cancelled at our airport for tomorrow too. Supposed to get lots more tonight and tomorrow. Oh, and for the first time I have heard loud thunder while it is snowing, and finally saw the lightning too. Still looks like you might get some ice (and we might too, tomorrow)....I hope not! How does spiked Hot Chocolate sound?

Chrissy, I got REAL cold walking out on the deck in my SOCKS to measure the snow at 4 am! It registers 9" on our deck, which is protected from drifts. Not sure yet how much other parts of town got, but should get more snow later today, plus ice and sleet. NOTHING will be open for awhile, here! So pretty though. Wish I could share some of the cold weather with you. I prefer cold to heat, also. Stanzie, how much snow did you get? Hope everyone's power stays on! Oh, I see the makings for a big SNOWBALL fight!!!

Kathy and Stanzie, stay safe. Kathy, R U  NUTS? Going out at 4am, just to measure snow. Good grief woman!

    HD, good luck today.

Karen, glad to hear your DH won't have any travel troubles and sorry to hear about your sons crash. Hope that road rash isn't too bad.

Chrissy, hope you are able to stay cool, while the rest of us are trying to stay warm!

I did not get the pews, Dorothy did. I just had them reapholstered (not sure if I spelled that one right or not)

    Hi Lulu, and welcome Ann.

With all this snow, ice and cold I think we should all have milk and cookies this morning!

We got about 3 inches or so of snow covered in ice. We went sledding - I didn't do so well. Then inside for a fire and hot chocolate. There was supposed to be freezing rain today but so far no. However Schools are all closed again tomorrow. The school which is down the street where two of my kids go NEVER closes and it is a running joke. So last night when they cancelled school WSB the local channel with school closing lists didn't list the school. One friend on face book who works at the school joked that even though the headmaster emailed them that the school was closed the TV station must have thought it a joke as they never close. Anyway, so my daughter just emailed the headmaster to ask if they had school tomorrow. Can you imagine doing that???

He is a very funny and nice guy so he wrote her back to tell her to spread the word it is closed. Then I get a phone call which says this is Paul, and the roads are icy, driving is treacherous in otherwords the situation is hopeless. It pains me and You know how much it pains me but tomorrow school will be closed. Very funny!!! so we are all in again tomorrow. Love the snow with power and heat - very very happy!!!  Will stay up late with the kids and watch movies with a fire!! Heavenly!!!

The snow is too icy to build snowmen. I pushed all the heavy snow off the hedges as they were getting pulled down so I think we are OK. It is going down to 25 tonight. Last night the snow was so pretty couldn't see the road or driveway just looked like a huge expance of yard. Looked very old fashioned like it must have many long years ago. We don't have streetlights which I love so at night it was just the reflection off the snow which was pretty brights. So beautiful!!! Love It!!!!

Stanzie, So glad to hear you had a nice day full of fun time with your children.  Nothing like playing in the snow then heading to a fire and hot cocoa with the kids, sorry you did not do well on the sled but glad you had fun.  I have a friend who lives in Bethlehem GA and she said that the roads are dangerously icy. Enjoy your time inside and try to stop in the lounge for an adult beverage and some adult conversation if needed.  I will be there!

Lori, you ougtta take credit for the lovely pews, you really did an excellent job in spiffing up the pews.  I have a dozen more as well as a few chairs for the front of the chapel (for special occasions). Can you get those done in the same fabric? The one pew does look lovely in the chapel.  I am going to pop in for a quick prayer for our Junie and for all of you, all of my family, friends and enemies too. And I always pray for world peace too! The chapel is so convenient and inviting. We appreciate the team work in decorating the chapel. And thanks for the yummy milk and cookies, they hit the spot!! It has been awhile since i had a glass of cold milk!

Chrissy, so nice to see you here and hope you join us for a night cap. I am praying for positive results from your recent scans.  Hang in there or hang, God loves ya! Youi are a fun loving lady and I am glad to have met you here.

Kathy, I hope you are enjoying the snow...is it still coming down?  We are expecting our third storm of the week starting tomorrow, seems the bulk of it will head out to the Atlantic Ocean, thank God.  They were predicting a foot but now depending on hot far east the storm moves, we will get anywhere from 4-10 inches.

Beans, did you eat your pb cups? Here's hoping you are having NO se's from them. Maybe have a glass of milk with them, sounds yummy!  Way to go in keeping those bad guys away. I hope your ride is going smooth and that you are enjoying your family.  I hope you pop in and give us a dose of Beanglish, I am having beanglish withdrawal symptons as are a few of us girls!

To all, stay warm.  I will meet you in the pool and will be lingering in the hot tub with Pants.  He says come on in, drinks for everyone.  Cheers and titty's up!!  Love ya all!

Hi Girlzzzzz, Just talked to Junie, and she sounded sooooo much better tonight! They did another surgery, and I will let her tell you about that later, but hopefully they fixed the problem! The pain meds are doing their job; she is in good spirits, and will try to post later. YAY! I feel like this is quite a turn-around, and she will be all healed soon!

The snow is so gorgeous! So cold, but the roads that melted a bit will refreeze tonight....very low temps till at least Sat or Sun, and looks like they showed snow in Monday's forecast. Of course it is very hard to predict that far away though. Our roads are still full of snow, but DH was able to get to my parents and shovel their walkway and part of the driveway. I am enjoying looking at it and staying in! But OMG when the dogs go out, cause it is so deep, they come back with balls of ice stuck all over their legs and tummy. I can't even pull it off....it is frozen to their fur! Look like their legs are as full as a Clydesdale! And what a mess. But they are enjoying all the attention, being inside. Maverick tries to trudge through it, making tunnels, while Molly just makes big hops through it. Schools all closed again tomorrow...wonder when things will reopen. Thank God for power being on!!!! Oh, the national news is showing a guy sliding (standing up) on the ice on Peachtree  St in Atlanta right now....void of cars. Years ago, I flew to Atlanta by Merrill Lynch for a job interview (which I did get....trained as a stockbroker here)...but was my 1st time there, and it was on Peachtree St! Weird seeing it covered in ice. Stay safe, Stanzie!

Think I'll join you in the hot tub Dorothy. Can't do it in real life, but perfectly safe for us here! OH, and that warmth feels soooooooo good. Pants just refilled my drink....life is good.

Hope your travels are going well, Beans! Chrissy, hoping you will be sharing very good news with us soon, on your tests. NM, did you make it through the day today? Hoping you slept last night.

    Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr,

    Kathy

Glad Junie had the surgery and is doing better!! That is so wonderful!

I remember how much Liesl loved to pounce in the snow and just be covered so much so we could barely see her as she walked... She would have loved today....

What WONDERFUL news, Kathy, thank you for the update.  I am sure missing Junie here and can't wait to have her back. I know she is with us in spirit and also enjoying the hot tubby. Kathy, I also can not yet bathe and it sucks. I have another two weeks and can't wait.  But for tonight, Pants is here to wash both of our backs and make sure our drinks are filled and that the tubbie is filled with aroma-therepeutic bubbles!  I am popping bubbles now,  what fun!  Oh, I see some firemen, seems someone saw all the stream and thought the lounge was on fire. I think they want to join me and Wahine!! Ohhhhhh, they are taking their shirts off.  GTG! Join us, this is fun!  Cheers and wtg Junie!

WooHoo Dorothy, you and I have the best seats in town (hot tub).....with those hunky firemen joining us!!! Is the steam from the water or from us looking at the guys??? j/k. What fun (and games)!

Stanzie, Yes, I trained to be a stock-broker but was a single parent and later decided I didn't need all that stress! Also trained to sell new cars, did upholstery work, was sales rep for Nestle, Napier, and Oneida, but for most years I worked as a custom decorator. My DH says I prob was a brain surgeon too....he can't believe all the jobs I had! I liked "people" jobs and never liked staying in an office.....being on the road and meeting different people all the time was more to my liking. I loved my rep jobs and decorating jobs! Thats why I did upholstery work early on, then sold furniture b4 training to be a decorator....it gave me more insight into my job. Also, I get bored easily and always liked learning new things and having new challenges! Yes, our temps are going to be extemely low too....stay inside and stay warm!!!!

OMG Dorothy that is hilarious!!! Wonder what is under Pants' hat in the hot tub??? Reminds me of that "dick in a box" SNL skit and the SNL skit with Rhianna where she sings "boner alert"! LOL. Boy are we naughty tonight or what???? Love it!

Stanzie, You are SO talented!!! We just need to build your confidence back up....you have a heart of GOLD, you are beautiful, you're always helping others, you are a great mom, and YOU can sing!!!!  And weren't you active with the symphony or theatre group? Come on, I am giving you a big pat on the back! And give yourself a great big hug, cause you deserve it!!! Don't ever sell yourself short, I won't let you do it. And someday you will find a SO that will treat you wonderfully. Until then, get a load of Pants in the Hot Tub! Wild, wild night here tonight!

LMAO at the cake Dorothy. Good Job. May I have a little..........cake that is! And I think that would be a "Ken" doll and not "Barbie"

Kathy you are def. the Jack Of All Trades!

Stanzie, I know one thing you do well...........you are YOU! And I know you are a fabulous mom. Hope you and Kathy are staying warm, and if you can enjoy the snow, well have at it. As for me, I don't like it one bit. Living in Michigan for 40 years just did me in. We still have snow on the ground here, from last week. Almost gone, but not quite.

Junie............you really really need to get back here. I don't know how many more dog beers of yours and mine I can keep drinking! So glad to hear Kathy's news that you are doing so much better.

Beans, hoping you are having fun! We miss you.

Lori, Yeah living in MI for all that time would turn me against snow too! I never saw snow till I was 18. I lived for 4 yrs near Lake Michigan, below Chicago, and we had horrid winters! But since we rarely get it here, it is quite exciting. Now they are having snowmen contests....sure get some creative ones! Oh, and I think Dorothy was kidding that she was a Barbie doll. That really was a cute cake, wasn't it! And we all get to eat a piece of Pants (or Ken).!!! Naughty, naughty nite! Junie, you gotta come back here and keep us in line!!! Hmmmm......what shall we drink now?

Girlz..... was thinking that the HTL was getting a wee bit short on action, but fortunately the PAR-TAY is in full swing tonight.  We need to keep things going for Junie's return.  So thrilled she is on the mend.

Enjoy the snow....those of you who are snowed in.  I just did a long walk (about 4 miles) with errands and it sure feels like snow here.  Just chilly, but I was dressed warmly.

When I was skiing yesterday, there was a husky snoozing in a snow bank with one eye open, patroling the landscape.  He was in heaven, just loving the weather.

As for the fireman, hope I am not disappointed when I "lift the hat"Laughing

I need to fix dinner and do a bit more work before joining in.  We should be really rocking by the end of this week.

Glad to see everyone.  Suspect Beans is having a great time. PAR-TAY on!!!
