CHEESE? I haven't had cheese in weeks. I'm revising my strategy -- instead of no cheese, only really good cheese in moderation and with lots of fruit or veggies. That's my strategy with bread too. Had to have a bread strategy since DD1 brings home really yummy bread from the bakery where she works. Come to think of it, that is my strategy for wine and chocolate too.

yay cheese!   Love it!   The other night DH came home with a parcel in his arms and of course curious me ask what was in the bag?  The answer........I thought I'd stop by and get some really good cheeses and sausage and I thought we could share a cheese platter for dinner............my answer?.........why the hell not!!!!   Both he and I love good cheese but because we both suffer the same problem.......(over weight).......we rarley eat that way anymore, in fact the last time we did that was almost a year ago.........yes, we reeeeeeally enjoyed that dinner! and speaking of dinner, I'd best get away from the computer and put my leg of lamb in the oven........Roast lamb and veg for dinner tonight with left overs for tomorrow.....yipeeeee!

Sorry to tell you that are still myered in snaow that today is again a perfect day....about 76 F with blue sky and puffy, flufy white clouds skudding by.  Yup, you guessed it, after putting the lamb on I'm heading to the great outdoors again............just gotta get this yard back into some semblance of order before it gets too cold to do anything.

Enjoy! Enjoy! Enjoy!   TITZ UP ALL!!!!!!!!!

Chrissy.....love roast lamb, but I live alone alas.  Need to invite some carnivores over to share one with me.  One fave way is to do boneless on the grill, with mint pesto orzo.  Roast with veg (including roast potatoes) works just fine too.

I couldn't live life w/o cheese.  But didn't get to this evening as phone rang, and then chicken was ready.  So had two helpings of that.  Just delish.

Chocolate is interesting.  Eat less than 20 years ago, but still have around as a staple.  Because you never know when you will be needing some.

Riesling was delish with the chicken paprika.  Perfect combination.  Had with some braised baby bok choy.  Truly wonderful.

Need to do a cheese and sausage platter.  How wonderfully decadent.

Remember that Julia Child made it through BC, and she didn't stint on any of the pleasures in life.  My own take is too much pleasure from all that good food. - Claire

    Happy Fried-dey girls,

So nice to see ya Chrissy, how are you feeling these days? I have missed ya here, stop in more often woman, will ya?

Kathy, or should I say Miss Risque Wisque? OMG, yes, I was very shocked at the Idol results. I bet the judges wish they had not already used the one "save".

Reading about all this food is making me hungry. Where's the breakfast buffet, no one is here, no food, wut up wit dat?

Gail, I also believe that the tamox has put weight on me. I tend to go up and down anyway but since starting tami, I have gained a good ten pounds. Worst though is my bloated belly. When I let it out, I think I look five months pregnant.

Kymn, how are you feeling today, I hope not too bad.

Well time to hop in the shower and get ready for work.  Yeee haw, TGIF!!

Dotty I wonder if I can get my belly to jiggle like those two little kitties......they are sooooo cute.

The lamb roast was delish and we had a heap of steamed veg and roast potatoes to go with it.  It's ages since I cooked a roast and that is probably why it tasted sooooo good and the bonus is, that I have plenty left over for cold meat....woohooo!!

I was going to go back and answer everyone separately but my mind just wont allow that at the moment so I will say, Beans glad to hear you are feeling more in the land of the living each day and thank for the hugs.  Kymn and Husker you are both doing so well with getting through your treatments I am in awe.  Kathy, not long now before your parents will be with you once more.  Painting, again?!  Claire, there have been times when I've fancied a roast when DH has been away, so I just get the butcher to cut me a small one which gives me enough for two meals and a little cold meat for sandwiches....yum.  I agree, don't stint on good food.  Gail, I have a problem holding myself back from eating too much good bread so I just don't buy it.....lol....not here, no temptation!...lol  Goldie your hair looks fabulous!  Want to share?   NM we should have a sign that says ‘arteest at work' and hang it from your computer for the lovely drinks and funny cartoons that you post and cheer us each morning.  Thanks for that!  Stanzie I just knew it was you behind the bar.........and you did what?!....you mean ....all on your own?.......oh my.

Oh now I really need a drink!   PaNtS!!!!!!!       TITZ UP!!!!!!

Mornin' Loungettes. Kinda dragging this morning, got a hangover and a big decision to make. I've already told admin that I'm leaving. Now, do I put up with another month and a half of abuse and misery to finish out the contract or do I walk away and take whatever consequences there might be. I could use you prayers and positive thoughts this weekend as I work through this.

DorK-Glad you like the pics. It's fun to think up what would be fitting and then find one that works. I like the voodoo doll idea. I've got lots of pins in my sewing room I'll bring! And all those pies! You are a pie making genious! Can I get a piece of every one of them? You did cook all the calories out, right? ;)

Beanie-thanks for the support. I'm already leaving the job, and I'm thinking it's time I started taking care of myself and quit caring about the students and the program. Since the students know what they need and want, why not just hand them the degree and send them on to work? Why bother with all this stuff in between? God's been sending me messages for a while now, and I'm beginning to think that I've misunderstood the message, that He doesn't want me to move on when the semester is over, but to move on NOW. Anyway, I've already got some calls out to get some more info to use to make a decision. And yes, that drink had a made up name, but it's a real recipe!

Claire-I try to use real foods as much as possible, too. No margarine in my house! I do use the occasional boxed mac and cheese, but those are becoming the exception. Can't wait for the Farmer's Markets to open up in another couple of months. And to get stuff going in the garden. I have this recurring daydream of taking a big basket and walking out to the garden and picking a salad on a sunny summer day. . .

Chrissy-cheese is a great source of protein, that's my excuse! But I do try to get fewer ounces but higher quality and I actually like it better! Gotta try some of the goat cheeses that will be at the Farmer's Markets this summer.

Let me see, what would be a good DOTD?  Lots of pie and cheese eating going on, what would be good with those?   Hmmmm.    Aha, got it!

    Mama's Apple Pie

    4 shots Cinnamon Schnapps
    300 ml Everclear
    300 ml Rum
    300 ml Yukon Jack
1 gallon (hot brewed) Apple Cider
    5 sticks Cinnamon

Brew apple cider on stove with cinnamon sticks and melt in 5 small boxes of "Red Hot" brand candies(best)or use cinnamon schnapps. Brew for a couple hours. Let cool and add in alcohol making sure rum is Bacardi 151. Shoot cold in shot glass or sip hot in a coffee mug

    Cheese Sandwich Recipe

    1/2 oz Triple Sec
    1 tsp Dark Rum
    1 1/2 oz Melon Liqueur
    1/4 oz Lemon Juice
    2 oz Lemonade

    Directions
Pour ingredients into an old-fashioned glass three-quarters filled with broken ice.

NM, if you are being treated so terribly and can make do with telling your boss to shove it……….I say GO FO IT GIRL. Use that box I sent you, make it through the day and ENJOY YOUR WEEKEND.

OMG, Dottie…..30? You HAVE had too much to dwink! But hey, I’ll take it. What can I get for you? Another drink? A massage? Anything you like, you just let me know. Cuz you my new BFF!

Astorm, I was always one of those thin ones too. I am 5’ 9” and in my teens and 20’s I was around 120, 30’ – 40’s I reached 135, by the time I was 50 it was 145, and Arimidex has pushed me now to a whopping 165! And to think I used to complain about the 145. Congrats on being the best pie maker girl! I hope mine is apple and not dog!

Beans, you have to tell us you are crabby, cuz one certainly wouldn’t be able to tell by your posts! Hope you havahappy today!

I love cheese too! Fresh baked bread Astorm, that is not fair. And I also love pasta…..ok, enough of that, I think I just gained another 5 pounds.

Something wonderful about a pretty blue sky and big white puffy fluffy white clouds. So calming and relaxing, and 76 degrees………POYFECT!

Mama’s Apple Pie, Everclear and rum……..that’s gonna knock our socks off!

Those of you that garden, if you ever need drip irrigation supplies, that is what we sell online. But don’t order online. If you want something, call me so I can take care of your total.

Our dear NM, Oh another mind-wrenching weekend coming to the right decision for you. My heart really goes out to you, as I know how horribly hard this will be. I know you will make the right decision, and probably sooner than you think! Last time I was amazed at how quickly you regrouped, and decided what you wanted to do. I guess the only thing I would be worried about is if there might be consequences down the road if you needed another job reference some day. Just wonder if you cut the contract short, would that impact any good references? But that is just me....even when I was leaving work to get married (14 yrs ago) I worked longer than I meant to, so I could train my replacement. Just didn't want to jeopardize anything if I needed to re-enter the job market. I hate to burn any bridges behind me! We all have your back, and we all feel you are an asset to any job you take, and know you will make the right decison! Think I will try your apple pie drink...the ingredients really sound like it would taste like an apple pie too!!! Best of Luck!

Chrissy, I am joining you in this good weather. So strange that you are heading into winter and we are heading into summer! How sweet that your DH came home with cheese and sausages! I love cheese too, esp brie, but try not to have it all the time. I started a new eating plan from Dr. Travis Stork's book (he is on the TV show THE DOCTORS, as well as an oncall ER dr at Vanderbilt in Nashville, and was a former bachelor on THE BACHELOR)...so a nice piece of eye candy too! But anyway he advocates having protein at each meal, even if p-nut butter. Not sure if I lost some this week from doing that, or cause I have been too busy to snack! I LOVE leg of lamb! Also, my mom used to cook thick lamp chops in the broiler oven with garlic butter on them...served rare....oh my that was good! When it was just she and I left at home. When my late DH was a grocery store manager, they had to order a certain amount of lamb around Easter, but in this area not too many people ate lamb, back then. SO the meat manager would mark a lot of it way down when it came in, and sold it to us. Yummmmmm!

Dorothy, I know....what a shocker...I think she would have had a good chance to win it! She has the best voice and is so beautiful and poised. At least she will still go on tour when they do that, and I wonder if some recording co will try to sign her, now. LOVE your dancing kitties! SO cute. Happy Fried-dey to you too.....hope it will be a good one!

I like Chrissy's idea of an "arteest at work" sign for NM!!!

Still waiting to see if it will rain today....totally cloudy and ominous looking. BUT I do want to get some more painting done outside. Can someone come over and cut my hair? Need a haircut badly, but haven't taken the time to get that done (her shoppe is far from me). Hmmmm......do we have a beauty salon at the HTL? Maybe time to add one.....then we could get hair cuts, color, style, pedicures, facials.......

HAPPY FRIED-DEY to all you classy galz!

OKAY Lori, shall we coordinate this better? Like make one post? Ha,ha,ha....Seems like I am always typing and miss your post! Love your blue skies with nice clouds today...we usually have that, but today it is solid clouds. Nice and warm though. Your new pic in your avatar DOES look great!! Glad you can wear it curly and not have to take so long fixing it. Looks good. Way to go, girlfriend!!!

I've just finished reading "My Life in France" and I didn't remember Julia Child's had BC. I loved being able to read it and hear her voice saying all the lines....

Oh AStorm - such a relief that I can still talk to you !!! I was SOOO worried. Isn't it funny Goldie how the weight we worried about so now looks so great! Well, I'm thinking we all look totally gorgeous as we have all been though and some still going through it all and we all are just fine! No worries about all the little stuff any more!

I love the risque wisque!!! too cute!

NM - I think you and God now have a plan together and it is good!

I love lamb but never sure if my kids will eat it so don't want to pay all the money for it to be wasted even though I do believe in freezing leftovers now if I could just remember to label them....

Kids are in NC. taking a break from SO so I'm off to start cleaning and purging... wish me luck as I'm such a sentimental pack rat at heart!!!! No wonder I don't have any storage space!

I have some straggly apple trees out back and to tell the truth just not sure if I understand them... they are green apple and first appear in late May and grow till they are still smallish in mid June - well most of the time right before I decided to go pick them the yard people steal every single one!!! Has happend for 5 years straight - they won't fess up. So I guess I'll try again this year and pick them even if they are on the sour side.... so it is the crust pastery I have mighty trouble with.... might should go buy Julia's book but since the movie the prices on her books have sky rocketed....

OK off to try and throw something away.....

Oh Kymn, we were more than happy to trip  that &*#!#*^%# nurse! The nerve of her, poking you all over like a sieve. And yeah that was kewl when junie rolled that ball of foil in front of her. Could you tell we were covering our mouths so she couldn't hear us laff??? So sawwry though that it is hitting you so hard. We will be there for you, to hold something in front of you when you have to get sick, etc. Hang in there girlie, you will be ok soon! And how neat is that, that one of our very own breast friends here was invited to pose for Playboy!!! WOW! I am impressed!

Stanzie, Good luck on the purging....at least you started out by purging that biggest thing...the SO that is. At least I hope he is past history! (But if not, you know we will still love you!). It is hard to get rid of things....would it help you to take a picture of something and that way even though it is gone, you can look at the picture and the memories will come back?

I am working my butt off outside again....and it is already humid! But doing ten-million things...just run from one, let it dry, and do something else. Hardest thing is keeping the dogs off of the wet paint! Thank God it didn't rain, as I was hoping it wouldn't, but started painting while it still looked like it might rain. Right now we have beautiful blue skies. CAN'T WAIT for Happy hour....I know I will be ready for it. Anyone planning a dwinking partay for tonight????

Well, decision is made.  I'm giving my 2 week notice when I go in to work on Monday, starting the new job on April 25th.  While leaving the contract early may have an impact on my reference from the university, I have several individuals who will give me professional references if I need them. This is a situation where I am being treated in a manner (unprofessionally, discourteously) that students cannot be treated, and that I cannot allow to continue.  Anyplace I might work in the future that has a problem with me walking away from an abusive situation isn't one I want to work for anyway.  Right now I feel relief and peace.

*Clapping my hands loudly"! YAY NM, you made the purrfect decision for you, and as always you make your decisions so quickly! Amazing! Thankful that you feel relief and peace over your good decison! Very, very good news! Now, hopefully the next 2 wks will not be tooooo bad.

HAPPY HOUR! WooHoo! Raising my Seagrams/Diet in a toast to NM! That is about all I can raise, as I ache everywhere....worked outside till a few minutes ago. My hands are still covered in stain! This was sent to me by my dad, and some of you may have seen it already, but it was a new one to me, so although it is quite long, wanted to share it with you all......

An Ode to the English Plural

We'll begin with a box, and the plural is boxes,
But the plural of ox becomes oxen, not oxes.
One fowl is a goose, but two are called geese,
Yet the plural of moose should never be meese.
You may find a lone mouse or a nest full of mice,
Yet the plural of house is houses, not hice.

If the plural of man is always called men,
Why shouldn't the plural of pan be called pen?
If I speak of my foot and show you my feet,
And I give you a boot, would a pair be called beet?
If one is a tooth and a whole set are teeth,
Why shouldn't the plural of booth be called beeth?

Then one may be that, and three would be those,
Yet hat in the plural would never be hose,
And the plural of cat is cats, not cose.
We speak of a brother and also of brethren,
But though we say mother, we never say methren.
Then the masculine pronouns are he, his and him,
But imagine the feminine: she, shis and shim!

Let's face it - English is a crazy language.
    There is no egg in eggplant nor ham in hamburger;
Neither apple nor pine in pineapple.
English muffins weren't invented in England .
We take English for granted, but if we explore its paradoxes,
We find that quicksand can work slowly, boxing rings are square,
And a guinea pig is neither from Guinea nor is it a pig.

And why is it that writers write but fingers don't fing,
Grocers don't groce and hammers don't ham?
Doesn't it seem crazy that you can make amends but not one amend.
If you have a bunch of odds and ends and
Get rid of all but one of them, what do you call it?

If teachers taught, why didn't preachers praught?
If a vegetarian eats vegetables, what does a humanitarian eat?

Sometimes I think all the folks who grew up speaking English should

be committed to an asylum for the verbally insane.

In what other language do people recite at a play and play at a
    Recital?

We ship by truck but send cargo by ship...
We have noses that run and feet that smell.
We park in a driveway and drive in a parkway.
And how can a slim chance and a fat chance be the same,
While a wise man and a wise guy are opposites?

You have to marvel at the unique lunacy of a language
In which your house can burn up as it burns down,
In which you fill in a form by filling it out, and
In which an alarm goes off by going on.

And in closing, if Father is Pop, how come Mother's not Mop?

Miss Risque Wisque, loved the poem, thanks for sharing that, I will forward it along, never saw it before. So very true that our language is really a difficult one to learn.

NM, you go girl, see God heard you cry and directed you accordingly. Do you have sick days you can use in the next two weeks? And honestly, I do not think any major employers give out personal info on their employees other than start date and position due to liability.  I am assuming you got the job you wanted since you have a start date, yeeeee hawww! CONGRATS TO YOU! A big hug and a bucket of beers coming your way.

Kymn, sorry about that wicked nurse, I shall put a curse on her for doing that to you. And whoa, playboy huh? How can I apply? And would they take me, I could just cross my arms over my foobs or have them photoshop some boobs on me? Oh, only in my dreams. I sure hope you feel better soon, sending you oodles of love, hang it there, it WILL get better.

Stanzie, good job in dumping the big baggage. Enjoy your alone time! And spend more time here, will ya? Pants said he missed you trying to pinch his arse and he said he will let you catch him the next time you try.

Lori,I was not exaggerating, you do have a baby face. but uhh buy me a microwave and a small fridge for my cave, ok? Unless the lounge wants to donate.

I got stuck at work until six today, I hate when people come out of the woodwork on Fried-dey afternoon and everything blows up. I left today without making a call to decline a loan. I guess it is just as well, at least I won't ruin their weekend by being a dream killer (I was called that before by a declined client). Uhh, I don't feel like doing anything but dwinking. And HD is working tonight, it is just me, my pc, my dogs and my jack. Cheers girls, come on in and keep me company.

It is still happy hour, yes??? BottoMs uP, Tidd-up too!!!!!!!!

Sawwry you had such a hard day....and yes it must be horrid to have to be the bearer or bad news. BUT "dream killer"....that was pretty harsh...didn't they realize it was probably THEIR bad credit or low income that got their loan declined? YES, it is definately HAPPY HOUR, and Pants is running as fast as he can, to get a JD/Coke in your hand asap!!! Nice to have you here to dwink with! Where are all the other galz?????

Oops, yes, Risque, I did mean DH, seems my dyslexia is acting up. I found something fun and productive to do, I am making vodoo dolls. I am glad my mom taught me how to crochet. I know I need one for the perps that have been mean to our NM and the wicked nurse who poked Kymn. I can make any colors you'd like.

NM, get the pins out, this one is for you.                 And this is Stanzie's former S.O.

And now for Kymn, let's all each put a pin in her a$$!

"ouch ouch, that hurts", said Kymn's nurse.

So yes, I do a form of voodooism at work. I once put one of my meaningless curses on a real estate agent and said that I am burning down her house. Well the next day she told me that her neighbor's home was struck by lightening and was gutted by fire. Yikes, it made me think about putting curses on people. I now just use things like "May her high heal break" or "may he/she $hit their pants or something less torturous. I used to print out photos of agents (they always have their pics with their auto signatures ---- oops, hit submit by ax-ar-dent. Anyway, as I was saying....I used to put these pics on my cubicle wall and when the perps ticked me off, I would poke their eyes with a push pin. It made me feel better. And no, I do not really believe in this type of this but it is a great stress reducer.

Sorry for the rant, just feeling like hurting someone, why not start with NM's trouble-makers?  NM, male or female or both? Hey, I have an idea, ;et's all do prank calls. We will just snort and hang up but the perps would not know it was us as we could use are real numbers and come from all over the country. Give me names, I am ready!!!

Thanks for the dwink, Kathy and wow it is a strong one, I sure needed that ~burp! Excuse me, sorry, my manners go down the toilet when I dwink.

Who else is here??? Join the fun, let's crochet some more dolls!!

HD, are you here to smoke some crack with me? I was going to snort some heroin but found out that requires needles, don't feel like getting poked by needels. Pants yes, needles no. Although I don't know where Pant's has been lol. Kathy knows at least one of his girls, she just needs to look in the mirror.

How are you HD? I really miss your witty snide comments here. I sincerely hope you are doing better and feeling well. feeling like FN $hit sucks the big one. Ahhh, makes me think of Hunk, but I know Junie has had him in the past, I got pictures to prove it! Oops, better lay off the crack pipe. Sorry I digress so easily, I swear it is olny likker I been doing.

And for the record, the labels my friend used were UPS, not Fedex, theirs do not stick n grab as well. And ya know, my friend also stocks up on supplies from the corporate medical cabinet. And toilet paper, although I don't understand that, the corp tissue is like fn sand paper. She says it is a fringe benefit, whatever that means Sealed

uhh, Kathy, I am here and wuz chasing you around the lounge. I chased you to the pool, the spa, the salon, then to the zip line and you just zipped away wif that fatty lol. I was talking about that girl who came here and called us snobs. Oops, was that you Kymn? That was funny. Ohhh, was that rude? We all know that little miss princess Kymn has a schmoking figure.  I personally do not find extremely skinny girls attractive. For example, Kelly Rippa, her wrist propably measures about an inch and a half. She looks ill to me yet so many girls in Hollywood and in the media are  displayed as beauties yet appear to be starving themselves. Ok, what WUZ I talking about? Oh yea, always jeolous of the skinny beotches. And speaking of skinny arses, I just twipped write over QWRWQ (queen wahine risque wisque queen's a$$. Oh my stars, I see stars. My nose, my nose, omg, my nose!   free to scroll past my jibber jabber.....

Lori - I remember being upset about 118! Six months after DD2 was born I was very upset about being 135 (that, and someone at work thought I was preggers)... went off the deep end and lost 25 pounds in about a month... can't do that anymore so I'm whittling away at it, 1 to 2 pounds per week. Of course, when I lost that 25 pounds, my boobs were gone (went from 32C to 32 ‘almost A') but now I can lose weight and keep the foobs. The arse never goes away... I used to say that when I lose it comes off the top and then I gain it back but it's on the bottom so eventually I'll just be an arse.

Dorthy - you drinkin? what's your twister?

    Happy Friday!

Gotta go to dinner with DH

    Hi Ladies.....

Late to the PAR-TAY as usual.  Still don't have my VAIO, but because they are doing all the updates.  Which means I won't need to do them when I get it back.  I will go cycling instead.

My question to Easy Tech at Staples was "do I drink wine now, or do I come over and pick up my computer and start installing Office 2007"?   Wine won.  Wonderful news as who wants to be installing software at midnight.  With NO WINE???

My meeting went well.  We did follow up and some "big picture" stuff as all I could do not having my files.  But moving forward.

Then, I went for a long walk as a strange yellow object was in the sky.  Trees and bulbs are out and beyond glorious.  Came back with a load of stuff from Trader Joe's.

Waiting for my dinner to finish reheating.  Plus cooking asparagus.  YUM!!!  Yes Dorothy, you are invited.

Next three days are cycling-oriented.  Ride with friend tomorrow.  Daffodil Classic with another friend on Sunday.  Cycling club meeting Monday.

I have decided not to worry about the government and concentrate on food, computer, wine and cycling.  Plus work.  They will sort something out.

My sleep is more important.  So is drinking wine. - Claire
