Didn't watch the game last night, but DH was very disappointed. He said it was the worst basketball game he'd ever seen, and he has seen A LOT of basketball. His "participating" game of choice is volleyball but he will play basketball given the opportunity - he is white, in his 50's, and he can jump.

DWTS... I feel bad for Kirstie... I watched the video online and I don't think she slipped. I think her partner couldn't support her and went down and she went along. One time when I was severely pregnant a plank on my friend's deck gave out under me during a party. I just knew it was my weight and was humiliated.

Dorthy - no worries... WD is fine. He was digging in the garden on Saturday and got dirt in his eye so I took him to the vet. Geez, I hope your PS noticed the drains are gone! I've had trouble finding a good PS (living in a town with few high-maintenance women)... last week we picked up a local entertainment rag with a "best of" and I had to laugh cuz I'd been to all 3 of their best PS's - #1 was just a jerk (and I have heard since that he isn't all that), #2 made me lopsided, and #3 had a dirty office and no bedside manner.

Chris-hick-sy - hiccups gone yet? I used to laugh at the "drink water" cure... my hiccups are usually caused by drinking!

Oh dear, DD1 is awake so it must be getting late... I hear the birdies chirping... think I'll take a long walk on this beautiful Spring morning!

... missing NM this morning... maybe she'll drop by later... here is a lineup of "Walker" cocktails to tide us over.

    Black Tartan recipe

1 part Johnnie Walker® Black Label Scotch whisky
    1 part Irish whiskey
    1 part Drambuie® Scotch whisky
    1 1/2 parts Kahlua® coffee liqueur

Straight: Float all ingredients. -- On the Rocks: Shake w/ice and strain over ice.

    Cloud Walker recipe

1 oz Lapponia Lakka cloudberry liqueur
3/4 oz Johnnie Walker® Scotch whisky
    1/3 oz lime juice
    2 oz lemonade

Pour into an old-fashioned glass filled with broken ice. Add a lime slice, and serve.

    Maeek recipe

3 cl Johnnie Walker® Scotch whisky
    2 cl Campari® bitters
    1 cl orange juice

Combine in a glass, add orange peel and serve.

    Plank Walker recipe

    1 1/2 oz Johnnie Walker® Scotch whisky
    1/2 oz rosso vermouth
    1/2 oz Yellow Chartreuse®

Pour ingredients into a rocks glass three-quarters filled with broken ice.

    Whiskey Orange The Jesperian W...

3 parts Johnnie Walker® Scotch whisky
    1 part orange juice

Mix together in a whiskey sour glass.

    ... and I'm walkin!

Ha ha ha....me thinks Kymn is in a good mood this morning! Yes you are right on with me, CHEMO BRAIN! I know your chemo is Thursday, which would be tomorrow if today was Wednesday. Which is what I thought!

Where in AZ are you folks? We are seeing a lot of Candians here. A neighbor is in real estate, and says they are buying a lot of homes here as they are cheap, because or our bad economy, and coming during the winter months when it is COLD up there! I had a rather large sale to couple from up there, they stopped by our warehouse on their trip back so as not pay for shipping. They have a large tree farm.

And how funny is that about your age spots! Sorry that DH was not so sensitive to your hair coming out. Was he just not wanting it to shed in the bed? (I hope that was all) Maybe Dort could send you some UPS labels.........that was a good one. Glad you were able to have another crying spell. It's ok, let it out!

DH is out working on the Shady Lady Hotel, so I snuck in here. He says when it's done, he is gonna call that building his "Man Cave" LOL.

Astorm, nice round of drinks there....can we have one of each?

As for other threads, OH YA....there have been plenty of fights. I think it's very very sad the way these woman fight! It just blows me away. I pretty much stay put right here. I use to wander, and then would come across sad things.....so I quit.

    Choosing a Wife

A man wanted to get married. He was having trouble choosing among three likely candidates. He gives each woman a present of $5,000 and watches to see what they do with the money.
The first does a total makeover. She goes to a fancy beauty salon, gets her hair done, new makeup, buys several new outfits and dresses up very nicely for the man. She tells him that she has done this to be more attractive for him because she loves him so much.

    The man was impressed.

The second goes shopping to buy the man gifts. She gets him a new set of golf clubs, some new gizmos for his computer, and some expensive clothes. As she presents these gifts, she tells him that she has spent all the money on him because she loves him so much.

    Again, the man is impressed.

The third invests the money in the stock market She earns several times the $5,000.. She gives him back his $5,000 and reinvests the remainder in a joint account. She tells him that she wants to save for their future because she loves him so much.

    Obviously, the man was impressed.

The man thought for a long time about what each woman had done with the money he'd given her.

    Then
he married the one with the biggest boobs.

Men are like that, you know.

    Good day ladies,

I got the stitches out today and as expected, not a word was said about the missing drain. I go back to talk about getting the expander back in on 6/6. Well at least I can go two full months without having surgery, yippie.

Kymn, you are very funny today. Loved your joke.

I will join you both at the lounge, I think I see Kymn and Kathy. Kymn, I will tell ya why I don't get to watch much hockey. Last year, about this time, I got ubber ticked off at Comcast and switched my phone, cable and internet to Verizon. Well turns out that Verizon does not offer Comcast Sports Net which airs most of the hockey games. So I just go online and check the scores. My Flyers have lost 6 of the last 8 but are still tied for first place.  With that said, can I still be an honorary Canadian?

Astorm, thanks for all those drinks- I sampled all of them and am now adding some fukitols. I know what you mean about the top doc thing, my prior PS was named S. Jersey's top doc. I have to wonder who is casting these ballets, crackheads maybe? And I know my doc would have busted me with taking out the drain but he is out sick and another doc is covering. They moved my appointment back a day which is why I even did it. I am still bumming out over my lost girl. I had a cute sweater on today with a v-neck and I had to keep hiking it up so that it was not evident that I am missing a tit. Glad you WD is okay, they seem to always find trouble but gotta love em.

Hi Beans, good to see you, sawry about work. Ehhh, I would suggest you ask your boss dilligaf but uh, I think you'd be talking to yourself. Come when you can, me miss you wots!  Ya see, even me Beanglish is slip-sliding away.

Hi Lori and to the rest of you.  I lift my glass, happy hour aka Pau Hana  - cheerz! Will try to catchup with you in person. And sorry Kathy about loosing your post. And Junie too. I still think the BC.org folks mess with us dwunks. ~~sigh~~~

Oh, Dorthy, hang in there... those months will pass quicker than you think. I was lopsided for 6 months just because the PS underinflated one of my saline implants. That was the period during which I purged my closet of all sweaters... except the cashmere... NEVER... I'd rather be lopsided than not own cashmere. I had a camisole with pockets for fluff that I wore immediately after the bmx and I wore that sometimes so I could "enhance" the little girl to match her big sister.

Claire got me started with buying a new lipstick and today I went to Macys (Clinique bonus time) and bought another one for everyday and new skin care products... I've always been pretty low maintenance when it comes to makeup but the past couple of years put some age on me... or maybe it was all the likker... anyway, I pulled my head out of the ground and there were wrinkles on it, and dark circles.

Did someone say, "ZIP LINE!!!?" -- I've always wanted to do that!! How was it Kymn?

    Hi Everyone,

Still no word on my computer, and operating at half speed is major frustrating!!!  I should know tomorrow what's up.  Meanwhile, may need to drink wine straight from the bottle.  Well maybe, I will deign to use one of my Waterford crystal glass.  A bit of class helps.

Gail....Hope I don't break the bank, but think that looking great is the least we can do for ourselves post treatment.  Congrats on the new colors.

A few makeup tricks always help.  I find I need eyeliner these days or a sad tale.

Think winter is still winning here.  But did get to see the snow-capped peaks.

I got a call yesterday evening from my friend whose son goes to the orthodontist in my building.  Could they drop by for AM tea about 9?  Of course, I had nothing in the house worth eating.  So I made scones!!!  English recipe so the real deal.  Especailly when served warm from the oven with butter and blueberry preserves.

I hadn't done this in years.  So very, very good.  I ate TWO.

I need a biscuit cutter, but made do with a small wine glass.  Think this says something....... -  Claire

Wow, hope I'm not too late for happy hour(s)! Day 5 for me and feeling achy in the knees/legs, but not near as bad as last time. Went back to work today and rocked the new platinum blonde wig. No one knew it was a wig and everyone asked who did my hair. Only a very few knew that I was going to sport a new look or why. So that made me feel good. I supervise 2nd grade recess and all the little ones came running up, "You dyed your hair! You look different! What did you do?" So I said, "I have new hair, doesn't it look great?! One little guy says, "Billy Bob says you look like an ol' grandma!" I told him, "You go tell Billy Bob that I am NOT old and I am NOT a grandma, so he shouldn't say mean things about me!" (No offense to the grandmas, but so far I only have a grand-dog, Charlie, and that is enough for now.) Then another boy comes up and says, "Are you like, 20 years younger?" Ah, my dear lad. YOU know how to make a girl feel good! It was so cute. Like I'm going to be hurt by a 7 year old (although obviously I was also charmed by a 7 year old...hmmm). So despite the aches, it was a good day.

So move over, Kymn, Goldie, Beans. You're hogging all the chairs!!

Here with you Kymm.  Had a flash of energy when the sun came out and I could see how filthy my windows were.  The window washers were here today as well.

So I made the most of the time.  Looks just glorious with the view across the Sound.  I am sure that the song birds will have other ideas (such as YAY clean surface!) by the AM.  But will enjoy it while it lasts.

I am sure your bloodwork will be just fine.  I learned from the Look Good Feel Better class that the expensive brands are on the whole well worth it.  I did help out a poor woman who was not doing well, and gave her the good stuff I had that was better suited to her coloring.

As far as hair covering goes, I had a fur-tipped wool scarf that I wore around my head to sleep.  the fur tips felt like hair, so was comforting.  Forget those "cute" (BLECH) things you can make from a T shirt.  I don't go there.

Making dinner right now.  Will invite Dorothy for tomorrow night which will be chicken paprika.  Chickens are on sale, and I have noodles left. One of my faves as has tons of onions and peppers in the sauce. Will be super yum. - Claire

Claire - love it when my flash of energy comes simultaneously with the realization that my windows are dirty! I don't have window washers. You can make something "cute" from a t-shirt? We had chicken... roasted it with white wine and tons of onions while I gave DD2 a driving lesson. She "ran" a yellow light and when I reminded her that she should have stopped she said, "but, your chicken will be overdone!" and she is a vegetarian.

Husker - kids say the darndest things, but my DH has made similar comments (to me and others). When I first met him he guessed I was several years older than I was (but I know I looked younger)... he apologized and said that I carried myself well. Funny that some kids can't tell the difference between a rockin-hot platinum blonde and a grannie.

We're gonna have to get Kymn off that zip line ... hey, Kymn! Pants has a drink for you!

Gorgeous day in Denver....got to 72.....took a walk after work and I was hot!!!  Only in the 50's tomorrow....the weather has been a real roller coaster here.   Just hope the weather is nice during Passover when my parents are here....

Talked to my mom today...dad saw the neurologist this morning and the neurologist is pleased with how dad is doing....dad doesn't go back for 4 months!!!

DD #2 has been riding her bike to the library the past couple days...she had a hebrew lesson after the library and told me she was just going to ride her bike there and then asked if 7 was too late to ride home...she is loving it!!!  She has found a new level of independence.  The library isn't too far..but she has to ride on the side walk along a busier street....worries me a bit, but she is safe and she is not afraid.  My knees are still sore from last week, but I need to get out on my bike more.

Husker....out of mouthes of babes.....when I had my wig, the few times I wore it to school, a couple 5th grade girls were so curious how I got my hair so straight.....I played along with it once or twice, then finally told them it was a wig!!!  Ditched the wig after a couple weeks and stuck with hats, mostly ball caps....had them in several colors....Walmart had cute ones for just a few bucks....I still wear hats, now for religious reasons, and find cute hats at Ross for generally under $10.

Kymn....I've never done a zipline...not sure I'm as brave as you...even with all the girls here, not sure that I could do it....

Claire....I've never made scones....always thought they were high calorie....does your recipe use yeast?

Gail....your DD is too funny....using your chicken as an excuse to run a yellow light!!!

Dorothy....must feel good to get the stitches out....a real shower now!!!   Funny that the covering PS was clueless about the missing drain.

HD...too much work will make you weary....be sure to come and have your nightly drink!!!  we need you to keep us company

Wahine, Junie, Stanzie, Chrissy and I just went blank on names (:  Sweet dreams to one and all and happy hump day tomorrow....time to head over to the empty lounge chair and have a glass or two or three of nice dry red wine.....maybe cab, then merlot and then shiraz...what do you think?

    Hugs, Karen

Scones don't have yeast, but they do have butter Laughing

The recipe called for "self rising flower" so added a tsp of baking powder to the flour.  Worked just great.

Then, of course, they needed more butter with the blueberry preserve.

No, they are not "low calorie" but they are definitely yummy.

Just getting to dinner now as had to get something out. - Claire

Good Morning, Loungettes! Been a log coupla days, but good ones overall. Got the second interview for the new job in a coupla hours. Got 2 mugs o' joe going to get to the 2 cup start my day caffeine fix more quickly.  Managed to hold off the worst of the cold, only had the one day of being miserable, now just having little annoyances. Yeah for a working immune system!

DorK-I'm thinking I slept so well the last coupla nights and the cold has gone away so quickly due to your Remedy! Thanks for the recipe! You're a lifesaver!

Beanie-I'm shlurping DorK's remedy off my keyboard. Shpilled dose number free. Tree, thereee. Da one comes afta two. Makesh my tongue tingle!

Claire-I use an automatic back up system (Carbonite). The $50 a year is well spent, I've discovered as I've had to work with a dying computer this last year or so. All my files are there, I can go get what I need when ever I need it. It's so hard to lose data to a computer crash. I'm crying for you! :.)

Wahine-glad the twisters skipped around you. I can not imagine living in an area that has tornadoes like that. I'd be a nervous wreck! I'd eat myself into blimp-hood!

Stanzie-I am feeling better, and please don't worry, it's just a garden-vartiety cold. Working in a hospital and on a college campus it's inevitable that I will catch a couple of things a year, but this is the fist time I've been sick for almost 2 years, so I'm doing really well! But it truly is nothing to worry about, and DorK's remedy has me almossht cured.

DorK-the Hurricane sounds so very yummy! I hearby appoint you the HTL official DOTD back up person! Thanks for covering for me!

Karen-so many mandatory meetings are a waste of time. Such a sad state of affaires. I almost feel guilty getting paid to attend meetings like that. But, since the employer requires, it's their choice, right?

Junie-I've heard the women's work one from my grandmothers many, many times! Sometimes it was said with laughter, sometimes with disgust, sometimes with anger, sometimes with indulgence. And how true that saying is!

AStorm-WOW! A whole selection of DOTDs! I never realized how I had been falling down on the job! I can't wait to try ALL of them! Pants-where's my tray of drinks????

Kymn-I didn't have chemo, but I have been on the boards for quite a while, and on one or another of the threads I haunt there has been talk about losing the hair "down-there" and "peeing sideways." Apparently the purpose of the hair "down there" is to direct pee in a downward direction toward the receptacle. When the hair "down there" is gone, pee will go any direction it wants, including side ways. Hope I'm not being too personal, but I thought a little warning might be in order about now! And I am LOL and spit coffe all over my keyboard from the Meth Lab! Now I know what is wrong with Sadie (yellow lab) sometimes!

    DOTD:  The Job Inteview

    3/4 oz Vodka (Absolut)
    3/4 oz Irish cream (Bailey's)
    Mixing Instruction
It is best to use a "tall" shot glass. Fill it halfway with the irish cream: fill it the rest of the way with vodka and shoot it.

NM, Good morning and so glad you are feeling better. I know you will rock the interview today. Glad my remedy helped you, it sure helped me. I think a few good nights of sleep is the real deal. I went to bed at 8am and slept through the night. I loved seeing your post this morning. I had popped in before my shower and was hoping to see you before work. And thanks for making me your back up dotd maker, that is a high honor coming from you. But I do not remember making them cuz I drank as I went along!

I was having the most luscious shower today, 1st in weeks and so enjoying having the water flow then my daggone smoke detector in my bedroom starts going off. We replaced them years ago as steam would set them off. My little WD freaks and barks with a very high pitch to match the beeping of the detector. Thankfully, I was done washing and just enjoying the leisure of the shower. Had to get out and reset the detector. I was going to ignore it but had to make sure my house was not on fire since no one else is home.

And hot damn, I sure missed a big party last night. You west coast girls are a lively bunch.

Claire, thanks for the invite, I will stop in tonight for dinner on my way to Canada to torture, uhh I mean look after Kymn tomorrow.

Kristy, loved the wig story, too cute. but that little guy saying you looked like a gramma, ugh, I woulda smacked him. Oops, can't do that in school. I sure would have hugged the little guy that said you got twenty years younger.  Outta of the mouths of babes is right. I bet you are rocking the platinum look.

Gail, thanks for reminding me how quick the months will fly. I was missing my left boob for two months and did just fine. I was not working at the time though but I have gotten good at stuffing myself. The best bra I have found is the coobie which has removable pads and pockets. I use a combo of stuffing and pantyhose which is more comfy then the form I have. And I agree that we should do all we can to improve our appearance. I had my hair cut and colored on Saturday and felt so good. The style held so nice but I did have to wash it this morning. I still have a towel on my head and am debating on trying to blow it out or just go curly. Funny story about your DD and the yellow light, she does sound like a funny one.

Kathy, were have you been? I was waiting for you for Pau Hana. Seems all the girls were at the lounge last night. Were you sleeping too?  And where is Stanzie, anybody seen or heard from her? Ok, having the tenders page her "Paging Stanzie, please report to the HTL, Stanzie please report to the HTL NOW". I hope she is alright, not like her to nesappear for so long.

Well time to get the towel off my head and put my face on. I get to wear jeans today, it is a kickoff to our healthy hearts and we are having a team walk at noon today at work. Not that I am walking but will portend. Love wearing jeans and sneakers to work, feels like a Saturday!

Hi Lori, Beans, Chrissy, Karen and anyone else I missed. Love all you silly chickies!!

To all, happy days and happy dwinking. Peace be with all of you!

Maybe Stanzie and Kathy are in the closet Dort. Do we get to see your new hair style? I wanna see, I wanna see!

Kim, good luck today and good luck to Kymn tomorrow. Got my days right, now. Husker, to a 7 yo, 30 is probably old! And why would someone name their kid Billy Bob? Sorry bout the aches and pains.

Last fall I was at Dolly Wood in TN Kymn and they had zip lines. I was going to do it when it warmed up. Headed over there only to find out it was an additional $50, so I didn't go. All the other rides were included in the park ticket, so I just went on the roller coaster.
