Hi Drinkin' Buds~
So I'm home, got out of my work clothes and cracked open a bottle of pinot noir I stopped for at the licka sto on the way home. Life is good!
Kathy - where are you gambling? The first time I met our dear Junie was in a casino. That woman was in her element there - she was a pro! I watched her win and watched me lose, and a good time was had by all.
Sorry to hear about aunt Emma. Sounds like she had a long, fun life.
NM - love the pics, especially the doggy farts pic. My ex BF has a dog whose farts would make your eyes water, not kidding!
I have the glass of vino going, but am missing the book and the hammock....guess I'll just have to find a hammock here at the lounge. PANTS! Get me a hammock please, and take that shirt off for God's sake!
Love Thirst-day lol. I have more than 1 Thirst-day in my week.
So who is joining me tonight for a drinkie-poo?
Cheers,
Donna

Good evening, my bwest fwends,
Hoping everyone is having a great night. I am enjoying a beautiful evening outdoors by my pool. Today was glorious, got to the mid 80's but with low humidity and a nice breeze. The sky was a deep blue. In fact, that was why I had to have a drink at 4pm, to celebrate the beauty of the day. I ended up taking a nap for an hour after and drinking again.
Donna, it is nice to see you back here. I have heard reference of your name many times while you were not visiting the lounge except to say hello now and then. I hope you return and stay this time. And thanks for getting Jocks to take his shirt off, ohhhh baby, he is one hot loyal servant!
Everyday is Fried-dey for this loungette. I have to often rely on my computer date/time stamp then at my calendar to figure out what day it is. Being on disability has its perks. I am still draining quite heavily. I may contact my PS tomorrow just to make sure this is alright as it has been over three weeks. Damn, my prior drains were always ready to come out in a week. Freaking Pratt Brat refuses to leave, the bastard.
NN, great post as always, you never cease to amaze me with great pics and posts to match! The doggy fart cartoon had me lmao! I hope your weekend is less hectic than last.
Wahine, sending you a hug, so sorry to hear about the loss of your Aunt Elma. I was about to say that I had an Aunt Emma too when I realized it is Elma. Here nor there, right? She sure lived a long life. Seems your family has a history of longevity, how awesome. I feel bad for your Mom, finding out about losing her sister, it must be hard on her. I hope you, your DH and Momma have an awesome time along with bringing home a suitcase full of loonies!!
Gail, you sure had a productive day. What are you painting now?
Stanzie, what is happening in your world, I hope all is well and your kids are easily settling into the new school year. Any updates on the wicked bus driver?
Chrissy B, the countdown is ON! I will see you in just three weeks, yippy, I am getting excited.
To the rest of you, I lift my glass (it is not cyber) and toast each of you! CheerZ!

Ok, DDs are off to the party (with pie and homemade ice cream) and dinner is ready... WD has had his 2nd walk... back to the hammock!
I painted a door, DorK... actually just one side of a door in my itty bitty bathroom. I love color and DH doesn't so I paint an accent wall or door in almost every room. This is my idea of "leisure" time. LOL! Always busy... my mom used to call me "the little white tornado" cuz I was always cleaning things when I was little (remember that advertisement?).
Pants! Furpetesake my glass is empty!
0 -
Gail, my bad, I now remember you saying about the door, what can I say, likker kills brain cells or too much MJ haha! Both of my sisters are white tornados, like my Dad but I am "laid back", as I call it. Others may call it lazy! And you girl are funny, "Furpetesake", VERY... lmao on that one!
I just booked a dinner cruise for the night Chrissy B arrives. We will have guaranteed window seats with what they call a spectacular view of the sunset on the historic Delaware River. Shrimp cocktail for Chrissy, dinner, drinks (five each lol), DJ and live music. I am hoping for great weather. And I really hope we sail towards Trenton so I can show her the riverbank of the town I where I was born and raised. It is very pretty and the riverbank was a great part of my childhood. I am getting so excited. I hope this post brings Chrissy out of hiding! Many of my friends and family have sailed "The Spirit of Philadelpha" and boast about it. This will be my first time. Furpetesake, I am so excited that I am not a bit tired and am wound up. I wish all you girls could join us. Now, THAT is a great fantasy!
Who is drinking with me tonight to celebrate that Chrissy B is coming to America??? CheerZ and titty up titty up, that's right!
Wishing you all peace and happy drinking.....

Wow DorK, what a nice sailing for you and Chrissy! Sounds like an amazing night....and I hope the weather cooperates and it is a beautiful evening. That was such a nice idea, to go on that dinner cruise! Thanks for the kind words about my aunt; she is my mom's aunt too (just 11 yrs older than her), but was my mom's mothers sister. I cracked up over your post (one above your last one) telling Pants to "fill us ups with big ones....". Ummmmm DorK, what type of big ones do you have in mind for Pants to fill you up with???
OR is my mind in da guttah again?Donna, Really nice that you have come back here for good.....those of us that joined this thread way back, really missed you, girl! And you were here waaaaay before I was!
Well, I now have paid for the back wall in the casino...j/k....but dang it I gave them way too much $ in the darn machines. Just kept putting that money in! At one point I was thinking hard about Junie, and then hit a few wins in a row, but then took it all back. Took my mom in the VIP bar, and she had two very strong scotch drinks (Chivas) and then I got us some asti bubbly with peach schnapps splashed on top, and she liked the taste, then the room started spinning for her. So I had to get some food into her, and take her to her room to sleep (I finished her bubbly!). My gawd I can't be a bad influence on my mom, for god's sake. I sure hate losing......
Oh, the casino has a video playing showing the horrid floods from May. First time the casinos ever closed, and they were closed for 3 wks (had opened 17 yrs ago). ANd then I talked to a guard and he said the casino floor here rose SEVEN feet! They make the columns, and walls to where the water can rise without damaging anything. You wouldn't know the casino floor is actually a barge...as it seems seamless joining the hotel, etc. ANyway, apparently a farmer did not want to lose his crops, so had permission (and help from some big agency) to have a big area dynamited, which resulted in saving his crops, but flooding 3 of the casinos at this end of the river. The others (7) flooded too, just cause the MS river rose so high (crested at 47 feet!). So amazing to see the video, which just loops around so can view it anytime.Hoping everyone has a good night, and will have a wonderful Friday!!!!
Hugssssssssssssss,
Kathy

Yay Dotty! Not hiding here just trying to get everything organised so I can come to America!!!! YAY!!!! I've needed to do a big clean out of my wardrobe (as nothing fits anymore) UGH!!! and try to leave everything else organised so that DH can manage on his own....poor baby! I'm just lucky that he is encouraging the whole trip. I pick up the tickets and travel documents on Tuesday when I'm in the city and that will be the last thing to do until I leave in 18 days!!! You are definitely right Dotty, countdown is on!!! That river cruise dinner sounds perfect and I'll make sure I have my camera with me so I can take umpteen dozen pics.....lol
What are the boys serving today/tonight? Something yummy I hope....set ém up lads and keep 'em coming.....I need a break!!!
TITS UP!!!!!

Lori, Two bartenders in the VIP bar DID NOT ever hear of a Duck Fart! SO, I just googled it, and this is what I found.... Layer equal parts, in this order, in shot glass... Kahlua, then Bailey's, then Crown Royal. IS that right? If so, I will ask them to make it for me tomorrow, so I can try it. Do you have to down it all at once, or can you sip it? Thanks girlfriend!

Good morning, Loungettes!
Wahine-I don't think I've ever tried a dollar machine, but maybe just this one time I will!

CasinoGirl-I believe you about the doggy farts. I had a German Shepherd that would pass some seriously silent-but-deadly ones if she got fed any cheese!

DorK-hang in there with that last Pratt brother. I know he's a pain, but the alternative is not any fun. I'm sure the drainage amount is ok, we all heal differently from different surgeries.

AStorm-I do remember the white tornado commercials, what was that for? Hmmm.Ajax, I think it was:

DorK-great cruise ship! Looks like you are going to have a hugely good time! Cruising is such a fun way to vacay!

Wahine-wow, what a flood story! I can't quite picture the casino as a barge attached to a hotel, but I'll work on it! Amazing the ripple effects one single action has, isn't it. I bet the video is fascinating!

Chrissy-Sounds like you've got to do twice the work-pack for yourself and set up DH! I'm sure he'll be fine, though. Packing for a trip is one way to get the closet cleaned out!

DOTD:Cruiser Cocktail
1 1/4 oz Coconut Rum
3 oz Orange Juice
2 oz Pineapple JuiceDirections
Pour all ingredients into a cocktail shaker half-filled with ice cubes. Shake well, strain into a highball glass filled with ice cubes, and serve.0 -
HI girls!
NM, you don't even see the water by the casinos unless you search really hard, and maybe see what might look like a stream somewhere! I think they would have to flood the area if they ever wanted to get the barges out! There are about 9 or10 large casinos here (Harrahs has 3 hotels on its property, with their casino, golf course, etc)...some pics...
Junie's favorite...(and we gamble here also, and stayed up high in a suite when it first opened, all the floors weren't even finished!)...

Lots of movie memorabilia and props in Hollywood casino, where we stay, like this prop from Titanic movie, all inside by the casino floor...(even old planes hanging from ceiling, and King Kong up high on a building near the ceiling), sometimes we like the rooms overlooking the casino floor here, but wanted internet room this time...

Where we are...you can see the Mississippi River in background, but only really good views of it from the Fitz casino. Can you imagine this entire area was underwater? The casinos stuck up like they were all in the middle of the river. So this is Hollywood....

Hey Donna, TOTALLY enjoyed our conversation yesterday! Miss you so much, and hope I can make it back to Tulsa some day so we can hang out. Well, we did end up going to the hospital. Stone number 4 and we were told there is yet another one. Got home around 11pm. I know not late for most of you, but it is for me!
NM, your babysitting sounded so fun. I could see you all enjoying all the wonderful things you did. I bet the YOGA was especially entertaining.
Gail, was that extra glass for NM or your hunk?
Kathy, I'll let you squeeze the duck while I drink mine. The original Duck Fart actually includes some Kahlua (sp) in it. It is layered and then drank as a shooter. I like mine with just the Baileys and Wisque on the rocks. I'm sure if you ask for one, they will know how to make it. I believe it is Husker that got you started on the Mint version of Baileys. Just read they did not know what a Duck Fart was, and answered your question already as to how to drink and how I do mine. Sorry to hear about your Aunt. But my gosh, to be so blessed to have lived that long, I will raise a glass to her and her longevity of life. **CLINK**CLINK** Altho devastating, the story of the flood and the casino is rather interesting, and the video too.
DorK, I get messed up on my days when we go somewhere on a day other than Friday. So because we ended up back in ER yesterday, I was thinking today was Saturday! Sorry you are still draining, maybe it's cuz you stay so hydrated! How sweet of you to have that planned for Chrissy. I do hope you get pictures PLEEEEZE.
Gail, I just know you made extra pie and ice cream for all of us! YUMMMMMMM....
Chrissy, we are all enjoying the excitement of your trip, and can't wait!
Heading back to town this morning so we can get out usual shopping done and try and hit the movies this time, Cowboys and Aliens. DH is calling it a date. He was feeling fine by the time we left the hospital and has not taken any of the vicodin. Happy Day, whateva day it is!0 -
I found this online of Harrahs Kathy. HOLY the COW!

Lori, I hope your DH feels ok to be at the movie today! Poor dear, he has been through a lot with those darn stones. Hope the one they say is still there, will not be painful for him. OK, I will squeeze the duck while you drink the duck farts! LOL. Funny they didn't know how to make it here. I know in the bars on the casino floor they wouldn't make it, as I only think the premium likkers are in the vip lounge. Just having lunch today (early) so we can gorge on the fantabulous seafood and prime rib tonight. I will ask them to make my mom's drinks weak today...that is, if she wants to drink today! Last night really did her in....she said she didn't get to sleep till after 2am (and I took her to her room around 7:30 or so). Have fun in town! You are so lucky to have met Donna, and gotten to know her! I will get that chance too, next weekend, as she may go to Junie's service, and even stay in the same hotel we will be in. Wish you could be there too!!!! Do I hear "pajama partay"???
Just saw the pic you posted of Harrah's, in the May flooding...can you imagine this entire area looking like that? All the casinos are touching the river (or did at one time!), but still quite far apart, except for Gold Strike, Horseshoe, and Road House (used to be Sheraton), which you can walk between. Across the street here, is Sam's Town (but a long walk), and also Resorts....Sam's Town just fixed their signs....the water and mud had damaged them, and they were pretty high off the ground. Never had closed even one day since they opened about 17 yrs ago, and had to ALL close for 3 weeks this May, from the flooding!
Hugs,
Kathy

Good morning LadieZ.....
DorK, I have been on the Spirit of NY and those dinner cruises are the greatest. Still need to do one in Seattle, but on a clear day. They also do stuff like jazz brunches.
Chrissy.... yes, do bring stuff that fits.
I went to the wine bar and then an early night. Gloomy here this AM. Hoping that we have clear skies for this weekend.
Wahine.....looks exactly like the Tulalip Casino north of Seattle. Except that Tulalip has upscale outlets next door. Glad you have great memories of being there.
On the subject of evil doggy gas, my mother once fed our dog leftover corned beef and cabbage think she would eat the corned beef. She ate both!!! The solution was to lock her in with my father who had gone off to bed. Amazingly, he slept through it.
I have two friends now pushing Amazon for me, so here's really hoping. Also need to circle back to research slots and see if there is anything else I can find. There is one too junior open at one of the companies I am targeting. I am thinking I should go for it anyway as a growing firm and part of the future. - Claire

Kathy, I do hope your mom isn't feeling too bad, the poor dear. In Laughlin, I'm sure they use the knockoff likkers for the duck fart. Such as Emmits irish cream and whateva wisque.
0 -
DH took my mom some cappuccino (sp) to her room this morning, and she was her usual, happy self! Go figure. I don't want to give her toooo much likker today though. Well, off to lunch....hoping for the gambling gods to be nicer to me today! Hugs!

DorK - That cruise sounds like fun!
Kathy - Did you really walk into a bar and ask for a Duck Fat? LOL Reminds me of the time my brother came home and wanted to take his grownup sister out for a drink... we went into this bar that had taken the proverbial dive since he left home, but he apparently didn't notice that the place was filled with bikers and no women that I could see. When I asked for Tanqueray the bartender just smirked at me and said they didn't have none of that fancy pants shit in here. So brother decides we should go somewhere else but now the bikers are circling around us, we can't get to the door and my brother is about as big as me (5' 6" and 100# at the time). Thought we were going to have a PeeWee Herman experience (you know, the one where he has to do the Tequila dance on the bar for the bikers).
I noticed a Vietnam vet patch on one of the bikers and I yelled "he's a vet too!" which probably saved our lives as brother and most of the bikers started talking about their service and sharing their stories. One of the guys actually left and came back with a bottle of Tanqueray. I never looked at bikers the same way after that. Amazing how a little T&T can change your perspective!
Love the casino pix... casinos prove that we adults are just kids!
NM - Love the patient with the umm... heart murmur. Not sure what cleaner that ad was for but that looks like me with my new bob.
Lori - Hunk is not allowed to drink on the job! Oh, yeah, pie & ice cream all around!
Emmits? Ah, yes, hence the "fart" part.
Good luck, Claire.
I was hoping to have the day off but duty calls and I need the cash, so it's off to work I go... see you at Pau Hana!

Yuppers Gail, I really did ask if they knew how to make a "duck fart". But I was too chicken to give them the response (you just squeeze the duck). LOL.But its the vip bar, so very small and just 1 bartender, plus the fill-in when she had a break. Haven't had a dwink yet today, since we had a ton of food for lunch. Machines still hate me, so hoping to try some blackjack in a little while. Sorry you have to work today, but gotta make that $$$$, esp with one in college. Interesting story about being in that biker bar...thank GOD being a vet saved the day! Glad you posted the PeeWee pic, as I never did see him in anything (don't think I missed much!). And glad I never had to sit in a movie theater seat after him...lol. (OH that was a low blow!). Ciao for niao....

Well, lose internet for 15 hours and look where it gets me! Oh so much to say and so wish I could do the word document trick to remember what I'm trying to say..
On dogs - my little dachsund growning up, Oscar, as he got older had some problems in that area and when the smell wafted we used to just say he was "neeeeervous".
Very interesting about the Casinos - figures they would be the ones who can figure and plan for emergencies so they never have to close! LOL! Glad you are playing the slots for Junie- I'm sure she is right over your shoulder and probably was telling you a funny story when you got distracted and lost count of how much money you put in! I'm so so sorry about your great Aunt - but Wow what a life and what stories! That is wonderful - you have such interesting family history..... hmmm well kathy since you have done just about every other job - you now need to Write!!! Glad your Mom is alright after you trying to get her drunk. You know your Mom sounds so much like my Mom at times -when we traveled - she Never got jet lagged, never got sick and Never ever got drunk or had a handover/ or hangover...?? Anyway, I remember we would wake up and my sister and I would be feeling absolutly wretched and there way My Mom dancing in her underware in the Hotel room singing! LOL! She was sooooo wonderful!
NM- How sweet! I bet those little girls had the time of their lives! And you too!!! I can just picture you all running around having the most lovely time! And pinapple wine? Wow, now that is truly interesting! Glad you will get some time off for vacation and I'm sure Junie will give you lots of luck at the casino as well.
Donna - Love that you are back.... I remembered your pop up in the video.
Astorm - Oh yum - sounds like you are a fabulous cook and can't believe you put down and even cut tiles - I so admire you all who can fix things. Wow, that would be scary in the bar but yep I love T&T too so that was pretty cool for a biker to bring you some - I'm guessing it is good you didn't order a Duck Fart! That might not have gone over well either.....
So..... went to my bathroom which is like my special personal sanctuary - designed with all my favorite things and well it was either a friend who visited or the location ad people but there is now a spot on the marble and I can't get it up. No clue what on earth is it. It was either under this white garden seat and it got pushed over and or then someone put a shoe over to cover it up.... something isn't right at all. So, I tried wiping it up and it was thick and sticky sort of reddish/dark brown - I could get most of it up but the marble (being porus) is stained and the grout and it is still tacky and rough. Anyone have any brilliant ideas as it just ruins my whole bathroom - you see it as soon as you walk in. So upset.
OH DorK - you are so sweet!!! That cruise sounds heavenly! I want to meet Chrissy in person too.... actually just want to meet all of you! I love that you are making her visit so special! Cheers to you!
Lori- Oh I'm so sorry about your hubby!!! That is so awful and still another to go?? I thought they could break them up with sound waves or something. I know it is way worse for men, so I'm so very sorry he has to go through all this..... No wonder your days are lost.
Claire - glad your friends are helping you with Amazon - seems like they are well run unlike the rest of the world these days...
Oh, Kathy, yes I have thought about a B&B but will need to learn more about it I guess.... I do like that idea though as it would be flexible. Then when my friends come there will be plenty of room to spread out! We are going to do the Farewell concert of my choir director and the composer of one of the pieces is Conrad Susa known more for his Christmas music and operas but my choir director had commissioned this piece a while back and we will revise it. Anyway, looks like he will come for the concert and probably stay with me along with the other friend who was the musical director of Phantom and his wife! Also, I've invited a friend to stay with me as .... well poor thing, she was born without most of her immune systerm, poly-ovarian syndrome, and MS and I'm sure other things as well - so she is sick quite often and well.... put it this way it is pretty amazing she is alive. Anyway, she is one of the soloist - fabulously gorgeous voice - well she has shingles and can't take the anti-viral meds! It is on her head so they are worried about it spreading to her eye. Anway, since her financee dumped her two days before the Wedding a couple of years ago she lives by herself so I'm hoping she will come stay with me so I can help her. Also NM - perhaps you know, when my Mom got shingles she found salt water and sun helped to dry the blisters up and I have a salt water pool so was thinking.... I just hope they get her some good pain pills and soon.
Kymn- hope you are feeling better and the cremes working - you tooo Husker!!
Beanie?? Oh shoot I know I'm forgetting more people.... Chrissy - know you are packing your heart out and Claire - hope the weather improves... Oh, that picture of the dog witht he beer.... ummm ??? Is it just me? OK, Know I'm forgetting a bunch but may be all I can do right now.... I remember Ajax the white tornado !

Stanzie, Sounds like you may have to call an expert....I know there are people that say they can get stains out....maybe a granite/marble retailer can recommend someone? THEN...and this is so important, but how many of us really do it...it should probably be sealed. I think even every 6 mo or so? MIght want to find out about that too. Maybe Home Depot or Lowes sells something to get stains out if you want to try to do it yourself??? Really sad that happened, and I sure hope it will come out! NIce of you to have so many people stay with you...you are very gracious! Wonder if Conrad Susa is a descendant of the famous composer John Philip Sousa (Stars & Stripes Forever, and more)? Wouldn't that be neat! Don't even try to ketchup....ain't possible as our lounge is so busy these days! Just show up and have fun.......

Thanks Kathy!
OK< so the trailer is out for The Odd Occurance of Timothy Green. It is a Disney movie with Jennifer Garner. If you watch the trailer towards the end about 1.52 into it you will see them all jumping up and down in a house - That is my friend's house one street over! Remember when I went over to check on the house during filming and to check on her cats.... apparently one of the main scenes in her house is of a piano recital - going up into their house is actually their neighbor's house with all the trees covered in fall leaves.
The family's main house is a farm house and who knows where it was shot.... looks like the mountains - north Ga. or even N.C. to me. Anyway, I'd post a link but you all know computers and I are not good friends....

OH NO! Just found out my sister and BIL went up to Minn. for a second opinion on his cancer as the Doctor in Miami didn't want to operate. So they have had this apt for about a month and now that they are up there guess what? They messed up the appointments and they have been sitting there all day not knowing if they will get to see the doctor or not! How could they have messed it up? She said they have both burst into tears! You would think they might have some sympathy for a man in his 70's all the way from the Keys who is crying..... I mean really! I'm so hurt for them..... Not right at all and isn't the Mayo Clinic supposed to be kinder to cancer patients??
0 -
Update - They got in and He IS going to do the risky surgery so good and very scary but still more positive...... whew..... too bad it is all the way in Minn....
0 -
Very glad the dr did get to see your BIL, Stanzie. How horrid if they went all the way up there just to be turned away, since they got the appt time mixed up. Good thing they went, since the dr there thinks surgery will be a good thing to do. When will it be? Hope they will be treated very nicely, from here on.
Well, I played blackjack for a couple of hrs, and at first it was horrid, then got turned around, and not only got back what I had just lost, but what I lost last night too! YAY....so right now, for the moment, I am a happy camper. My mom came and sat by us, and some of the guys even asked her to cut the cards! Then I took her to some machines so she could play some....she is very content. Have our huge feast in a little bit, but going to have some asti champagne and peach schnapps first! They will have wines and beer at the dinnner though, all comp. I am really glad we brought my mom here, as it just gets her to see different things, although I know she won't remember it very long, she is happy in the moment, and that is what matters! I hope on our way out tomorrow, to go to the Gold Strike and try some of the $1 machines that Junie liked to play! OH, my DH saw "Hunk"...he was playing craps and doing real well, then "Hunk" came in as the pit boss, and then DH went on a losing streak. Happened last month too! He told him my mom and I would come by, but guess what....I totally forgot! Hope to catch him later, so I can say hi from the gals in the lounge! I think his pic is on the tv in the bar on our video? Or is it a separate picture, Lori? Someone put his face there, maybe HD? Anyway..... I have only had 1 beer (Shock Top) so far, and I need to ketchup with you drinking buds!
ChEARS! Chairs! CaChing!

Stopping by to wish everyone a good week-end....

Happy Shibbot, Karen. You have a good weekend too.
Kathy, glad to hear you made up for your loss - I hope the winning streak continues. So nice that you are giving your Mom this adventure, she sounds adorable.
Stanzie, praying for your BIL and hope the surgery is easy and a success. I am going to try to google the clip of the movie you are referring to. Of course I remember when they were filming that and you babysat the house. I find this incredibly exciting. I will surely be thinking of you and waiting for updates.
NM, I am still laughing at your pics, I crack up at all of the fart humor, farts just tickle me funny! I think puppies are the worst! And who told the story about a dog eating cabbage, OMG, so funny! Have a nice weekend and I hope you are able to work less than last weekend.
Gail, what an awesome story about your biker friends. I am glad you thought fast. And I had to laugh at your Peewee Herman comment, I loved Peewee! Poor guy got a bad rap.
Happy FRieD-dEy to all of you ladies, who is at the lounge tonight?? I lift my glass to celebrate each of you great ladies......CheerZ and bottomZ up!
