Dork my dear, You are forgiven of course...lol. Didn't mean to sound so stern!!! I guess I figured I make enough errors on my own! I do admire your talent for music....I don't feel I have any special talent, I just do a lot of things, but nothing truly exceptional. Guess I am a "jacque" of all trades. Yes, I truly am enjoying my time with my mom. I am having to *think* for her too, so my poor widdle bwain feels fried. Had to hunt all thru the house for the new watch she bought last week....she kept telling me she returned it, but I knew better. Finally found it one of her purses...she had taken it off when she bought another new one a day later! Bet my dad will be surprised to see all the charges she made while here, as she REALLY has enjoyed shopping! I did find her camera which she had misplaced a few months ago, but her cell phone hasn't turned up. Just a tracfone, but useful when she arrives in HI and can call my dad, who parks about a mile away till she gets in. She kept it off, so can't call it either. Still can't motivate her to continue with the painting...should have held off on stopping at the likker store....OR should have just doled out enough scotch for that day...LOL. J/K of course.

Think I will take some ML's to my mom's for happy hour shortly, and toast to dear Junie again.

    Barmen!

Oh, boy did I mess up this am.  Totally lost the DOTD, just so upset about the Medical Board thing that I can't seem to do anything straight.  Did I tell you ladies that I got a response that basically says it's my fault it's taking so long for not getting the original notice and it isn't fair to expect the doc to change his schedule again?  Apparently MY time is meaningless.

OK, I'm going to try to get off that.  Nothing more I can do, anyway.  Someone push me into the pool and cool me off again, Please??

Consider yourself pushed and with a drink waiting and a nice pool float so you can wind down and relax a bit. I know there isn't anything more you can do but yes it does add insult to injury by saying it is your fault you didn't receive the information - like you had control over this? Anyway they can provide proof of when they sent it? Would be interesting, as it is sort of sounding like one of those Thou dost protest too much..... and a bit too defensive on their side...... Not that that probably helps you but does make you wonder. I'm sure it also makes you more nervous as well but still seems like you should be given your information even if you have to wait for the doctor's schedule - I mean they have the info so why can't you see if - OK I may be missing too much...

Shoot have to run to choir. How does the day go by so quick? Kathy- So sorry about all the lost stuff with your Mom, hope you find the phone. And Gail - NO it does not look like something in a steakhouse - LOL! It is really beautiful!!! I think you got a major find!!!! Congrats!~

Its seems to be happy hour time....and for some reason, I'm more than ready for it.....Okay 1st day....mostly team building and get together for the staff...new principal...not too sure about her....I think she is pretty impressed with herself and one of those of "my way or the highway"....I guess I need to give it time, but for now, I'm uncomfy with what I saw....oh well...at least I'm only there one day/week.....

NM......sure wish the loungettes could help with the hearing.....just think if we all could give them a piece of our mind!!!!

Gail...is it you who got that beautiful tray?  and the awesome tile at the entrance...both lovely...

Wahine...when does your mom go back to HI?

Kymn....as your rad onc what you can put on your breast to ease the burn....the nurse let me use Domboro powder made into a paste and also some sort of cooling gel.....

    Hi Laurajane...hope the xeloda works

    Stanzie...have fun at choir practice....

Gosh ladies.............I haven't been gone that long, have I? I could not get online this morning, in the house on my laptop. And when I come out to the office, it's work time. Altho I do sneak in to The HTL during work on occasion.

Everything is FINE, out here in da boonies. I jus been chillin!

NM, that is just terrible what they are putting you through. And hope you get the answers you are looking for. No worries about the DOTD, not like we don't have enough to drink around here!

Gail, I agree with everyone else, your plate and tile work are beautiful. And if the plate were to go in a steak house, it would be a 5 star one! Love your door too!

Karen, I think Wahine's mom goes back Monday.

Kymn, you are burning already? How many treatments have you had? Please do ask for something, I won't suggest anything as there are several things that can be used.

DorK, I'm sending YOUR people to get rid of that Pratt Bratt and it's good to know I am not the only bumbling idiot!

Kathy, don't cut yourself short. You have MANY talents, and one of them is being the sweet dear person you are. Have fun.............CHA CHING!

Donna, you are lookin HOT girlfriend!

LJ, I agree with DorK, you don't look old enough to be a grammy, unless that's your daughter in your avatar.

    Later chica's.................

WOW...didn't realize the lounge was so popular! If everyone reading would actually come into the bar, we would have standing-room-only! Nice to have you back Lori.....sorry about the internet probs, but glad to have you posting today. Yes, you are right...my mom returns on Monday...sob, sob :( I will be very sad here after she leaves.

Enjoyed 2 large (dog beers?) Miller Lites for Junie! NM, so sorry about all that crappola you are going through, just to find out the info you should be able to have, and to have that dr account for what he did. HOPING it will start going better for you. I think I see Sadie giving you a BIG furbaby hug right now! What a treasure she is.

Was reading back on some old posts, found this one from Junie. Way back from when I first joined on page 166.

Beergirl--I applaud your honesty in telling doctors true answers to your drinking.  My anwer to that question recently has been--"I'm a social drinker"   (meaning I don't grab a drink the minute I roll out of bed...)  But, I follow up with, "and, I'm a very social person!"

...bottoms up to all our drinking buds...hugggsssssss to all!

    Hi everyone......

Have been following, but not posting as buried with "stuff".  Major plus was the cycling club picnic last night which turned out to be really fun.  However, as organizer, I did spend a half hour sitting at a group of picnic tables in the park wondering if more than three people would turn up.  Fortunately, they did and a good time was had by all.

That serves me right for getting there super-early, but I needed to just in case.

Otherwise, attended a meeting for the non-profit about a funding opportunity using a Groupon model.  My recommendation is to move forward, as I am now satisfied that the model is valid, and not a scam.  Also, got a sense of who else is using this one, and they are non-profits I would want to be with.  Really interesting.

More going on.....but will leave that for further messages.

Meanwhile, I am ready to join the party.  Think wine as opposed to dog beers.  And watch the sunset over the Sound as I cook up some more chicken with curry rub and some leftover couscous salad from the picnic.  Veggies too of course.

Now to get the chicken ready..... - Claire

    Hi Kymm....

Glad to hear all is OK.  I got no worse than a bit of redness and peeling.  Not nearly as bad as a some sunburn I have had in the past.  So those creams do work.

I would love some Bailey's in my coffee too this AM.  So will join you in that plus Eggs Benedict.

    Mmmmm. - Claire

Darn, I knew there was something wrong with my coffee! Kymn and Claire drank all the Baily's! I was just wondering... why such a fuss over Starbucks? I guess we've always had great coffee on the West Coast but it's even better if you make it at home cuz Starbucks doesn't have Baily's.

Kymn - hope you are done with rads soon? My bff started to feel a little cooked after her last zap and said it tingled for a few weeks afterward but she is ok now (6 months out I think)... and laying on a beach in Hawaii... and I'm here in the fog... with no Baily's...

No business today so I'm taking a long walk down to the wharf. If I don't get lost in the fog I'll come home and make vegan apple pies for DDs to take to a going-away party for their friends who are leaving for college this weekend.

thanks Lori for the Bailey's, you are so thoughtful! I thought I missed the coffee/baileys partay as I slept waaaaay too late.

Gail, Gail, come on and have a shot in your coffee, it will make your walk more fun. Hey, can I walk the wharf with you?  Glad you have a day off.  I can attest that living the life of a bum is not bad. I still hope to find a rich man who can give me that life. My biggest complaint will be "oh it's raining and I just got my hair done" or "holy hell, the bottle is empty, servant, get to the likker store and do not let this happen again".....I can dream!  I want to be like Goldie Hawn in that old movie "Overboard".

Kathy, good luck and also hoping the gamblin' gods treat you well. Maybe this is the time for Junie to send you some help - I would not be a bit surprised if you win with her assistance! I think  a twoonie means $20 but just guessing!  I will miss you but hope you and your Mom have fun and come back with a big sack of money $$$$$$$$!

Kymn, glad you are not burnt and hope you are nearing the finish line with the rads. I miss seeing you at the lounge at night and hope you find time to stop in more often. I hope things are going well for you and your DH.

Claire, have you any left over eggs benedict, yummy!

Missing our Beanie, paging Beans, pick up line one, HtL, paging Beans.........

    Hi Laurajane,

Life is too short to deprive myself of good wine.  And I enjoy a good microbrew after cycling.

However, I don't do Bailey's in the AM as have to get some work done Innocent

I did not drink during chemo either, but did immediately before and after surgery.  I suspect that is quite common.

I see you are just starting down this journey, so good luck with everything.  You should know that all the associations with breast cancer and recurrence are for ER+ women.  And ILC more than IDC.

Good luck, and make sure you drink quality potions. - Claire

Hi LJ, I'd say it is probably is bit of both drinking real life and drinking cyber.... The drunk talk is cyber-drunk as if you try and do it No one would ever be able to figure it out and still be able to read it if actually drunk - my opinion. However yes I think many of us enjoy some wine with dinner or some beer and even some liquor but it isn't quite as nuts as it may seem to a quick pop in viewer. Also depends on where one is in treatment - going through chemo and rads - most likely cyber drinking. I don't think any of is is willing to jeopordize our health but at the same time enjoying life is important and having a special meal and a lovely glass of wine is certainly a nice way to appreciate life.

Gail - Ok, I know what vegan means so I'm wondering a vegan apple pie..... do does that mean no butter? As I don't think there are eggs in it but then I've only made a pie once in my life and it was a long time ago so just wondering.

A good friend of mine has just been diagnosed with allergies of no eggs, no dairy of any kinds. But she can have bread which is interesting... My first thought was ok that won't be so bad but I want to have them over for dinner and hmmm so that does make it a bit more challenging expecially no eggs, milk or cheese - I know much healthier so I need to get over all the fattening stuff which is what I need to do anyway,,,,, makes me take a look at how bad my diet has gotten perhaps that is why I've gained weight.... hmm?

Kathy!! Wishing you and your Mom and hubby of course lots of fabulous luck at the casino! Junie will be smiling down on you so you should do fabulous!

Kymn - glad you are doing better and glad you are not burned up! Yikes.

Slow day here. My daughter got her i-pad for school. She was one of 20 students to do a test program where they give her an i-pad for the year. She is so excited!!!! Cannot tell you.... gosh now I want one... got to figure out some money making idea and soon..... hate how scary the economy is - makes me not sleep - of course I'm not sleeping anyway so..... Keep waking up with terrible nightmares along with the hot flashes.... sigh. I do Not like this part of life .....

Hi Stanzie - yes, I mean "no" butter or eggs (I actually use egg and vinegar in my pie crust but DD2 is now exploring veganism). It is one of the few desserts I can make vegan without ruining it. To appease DD1, I am also making vanilla bean ice cream with real cream and real eggs to serve with the vegan pie! Cool that your DD gets an iPad -- mine would love one but I bought her a Mac less than a year ago and am now college-poor. Sorry bout the hot flashes. I can't sleep anymore either... was up at 3AM and just stayed in bed peeking at the clock until DH's alarm rang at 5:30. If I get up I risk waking the cats which brings out DH's cat-hater persona.    would be nice to just get up and read but the cats read aloud ...

Oh shoot, forgot who asked but yes, I did the tile work. DH made most of the cuts while I set the tiles but he got bored and walked away so I ended up operating the saw too. I thought it was fun. My next project is to paint the inside of my bathroom door (just for me) in a beautiful blue with silver glaze over.

LJ & beacher - on drinking and/or cyber-drinking... what happens at the lounge stays at the lounge (but what we do at home we suffer the consequences for). My thoughts on dwinking... I think we all know getting blotto is not good for us - wasn't good before bc and not good now... nor is red meat, butter, running (wrecks your knees), skydiving (!), or childbirth (and the resulting parenthood). We just need to be sensible and weigh our risks but, above all else, not forget to enjoy our lives. Personally, I do far more cyberdrinking than my body (or my life) could handle in liquid form.

    Hi Gail.....

The good thing about doing the bathroom work yourself is that no one else can complain about the colors you choose!!!  Stay away from that saw if drinking wine though.

I am not convinced about lean red meat, as think as healthful as other options.  Anyway, my focus is that if you eat enough fruits and veggies, you can most likely get away with at least some of the other.  I was thrilled that butter is more healthful than some of the alternatives.

I ended up eating the chocolate zucchini bread from the cycling club picnic for breakfast.

    Think some eggs for lunch.

Then figure out what else I need to do to move the job search forward. - Claire

Amen, Claire. Oops, I guess we say Barmen here!

I just found a great use for those ugly compression hose souvenirs from my year in the OR... Thought about bringing them to the lounge...

hmm. Not as fun as it sounded... so... I re-waxed a pine coffee table and buffed it out with the ugly buggers! Gave me a bit of a workout too... now don't read anything into that... no one was wearing them!

    Hi Loungettes!

I hope everyone is having a good Thirst-dey!

To LJ, the other gals described our cyber lounge well. We live in an imaginary lounge and have loyal servants, all the boooooze we want. Most of us do drink and some of us (me) drinks too much. We have fun together and I often lmao reading my witty breast fwends posts. But we also help and support each other as true friends do. I hope you choose to hang out here more. we are the best bunch of gals in the world and I mean that. It takes awhile to remember each of us but it comes. I remember being invited in by Wahine (Kathy) and I remember it was for Happy Hour which we call Pau Hana! Hope to see you there girl. I just love my gals here and love to drink too! Beacher, I hope you join us too.

So I am having a slacker day. I think I overdid things a bit yesterday and I am sore. Ready for that special pain reliever called Jack Daniels!

    CheerS and titz up!

I'll try and check back in later when ya'll have had a chance to get your wine, beer or whatever blows your skirt up Smile

Wahine-Sadie has been exceptionally cuddly the last few days. I wouldn't be able to sleep at night without her!

Goldie-great quote from our Junie! WE need to have it painted in BIG letters on the HTL wall!

Claire- sounds like your picnic was a great success! Good for you!

Wahine-what are Junie's fav games to play? I'll be going to Vegas next month and I wouldn't mind having an excuse to spend a penny or two. . .

Kymn-keep slathering on the cream and I'll pray it works.

AStorm-great pic of the fog. One thing I miss about not living on the ocean is the sea fog. It just smells so good; river fog just doesn't smell right to me. I babysat for 2 little girls today, 3 and 5 years old, so we walked the quarter mile down the road to see the goats, and ran around chasing butterflies and picking clover and Queen Ann's Lace, and some radishes out of the garden, and chased the dog around and got chased by the dog, and did yoga together (have you ever done yoga with a 3 year old? Talk about FLEXIBLE!!) I hope your walk doesn't poop you out as much as my walk did this morning!

I wonder if Duck Farts smell as bad as Doggy Farts???????????????????

DorK-is there any of that coffee/Bailey's left? I could use an afternoon pick-me-up!

LJ-Most of my drinking is cyber, but I do drink in reality, too. In fact, I make wines. I've got fennel wine bottled, some cherry mead cooking, some pineapple wine aging, and a few others in various stages of creation. I simply will not give up everything I enjoy in life just to have a longer life without the beast coming back, especially since most of the stuff they tell us to do doesn't make that big a difference anyway. I think most of us here drink a little in reality and lot in the lounge, but there have been a few ladies that have come through that only drank in the lounge. And I think all of us have contented ourselves with cyber drinking only during various stages of treatment and surgery and recovery.

AStorm-I have the most amazing mental picture of you, a hunk, a pair of panty hose and a coffee table now. . .

CasinoGirl-Happy Friday to you! Friday is my Monday (I work weekends), so I'm going to have a dwink or two tonight myself. . .

LOL you gals are rockin the lounge today! Just got settled into our rooms, and letting my mom and DH rest B4 hitting the casino floor. Yeah, I still wonder what "twoonies" are...I think when I was in Canada, a "looney" was a dollar coin? Is twoonie two dollars? Or twenty as someone mentioned?

Lori, OK, I know I told you how to make a duck fart during a phone call (squeeze it), but how does the bartender make it? I may try one in the VIP lounge while here. We did bring some baileys choc mint with us (OK who got me started on that? Was it you, Karen?)...but having an ML right now, for Junie. Just found out my dear Aunt Elma passed a couple of days ago in Hawaii....she would have been 102 in Oct. Such a sweetie and a good writer; she has had some of her work published, and I have copies...esp about her grandpa inventing the ukulele (my g'g'gpa...Elma was my g'mas sister), and also an article she titled "Jonathan Livingston Seagull on Wings" (hope I got that right) when she tried para-gliding in her later years! I used to take my mom to visit her in her upscale retirement home w/ view of Waikiki, whenever I was in Hawaii. And after she turned 100, and we mentioned her age to her, she just couldn't believe it....was totally convinced we were bonkers! My mom was especially close to her, her entire life, so was sad when I found out during our drive when I checked emails on my phone. SO my DH had a toast to both Junie and my Aunt Elma....with the ML's.

NM, Oh my what cute pics...love the passed out dog! Bob just said Junie liked the $1 machines....didn't get a particular machine, so will just pick one!  Glad you will be in Vegas next month....hoping for nice weather for you and not tooo hot!

Gail. Oohh lah lah!!! Some stud you posted for us to drool over! Yes, of course, cyberly everything is okay....isn't it?????

Stanzie, Ok, if it isn't tempting to rent out your apt, can you do a B&B? You have location, location, location, which is the main thing! OR get with a realtor for short exective rentals....like when they just need a week or so? Gotta figure out how to make money with your fantastic place!

DorK, Is it time for your JD??? So glad you can just relax for awhile, and recuperate!

LJ, Well, yeah, do we have to come clean here? Some of us (me included) do like to dwink in the real world! I usually have 2 a night, EXCEPT when at the casinos, like now! I don't have to count them here, so the sky is the limit. Or there are no limits, or.....whatevah! Nice to have you here, and hope you will stay with us! It is FUN here....a total utopia, and we always are adding things to our lounge, the HTL. SO if you don't see what you want, you can add it. Just like that!

Donna, YAY, I am sooooooo glad you are with us here again! And how nice to have Fried-dey already, today!

Well, my mom is in the next room, but I bet my DH will nap the longest! He did drive the whole way, so I guess I can let him do that. Hmmmmm.....wonder if "Hunk" is working tonight? He is the pit boss that Junie and I took a picture with..... I do hate to tell him that she has passed, though. Well, since some of you gals are celebrating Friday early, I guess I better get to more serious dwinking.....

    Pau Hana!

    Kathy
