Good Turkey Day Morning, Loungettes! I'm looking at a beautiful sunrise over the snow covered yard. Got enough snow that the drive had to be plowed, first plowing of the season. Got to get some shoveling done this am before heading out to brother's place for lunch. And now the weather guesser is talking about RAIN! Make up your mind, Mother Nature!

Scuby-glad you and DH had a big night out! Happy Anniversary!

Mrs. Vino-I can just picture that cheesecake now! Might as well play the cancer card and get something fun out of it!

Wahine-I'm with you, I've heard of weed wackers and string trimmers, but not strimmers. Still, I can see where the name comes from. It's so much fun to learn the regional and national differences in the language!

DorK-The stars were incredible last night here, too, once the clouds moved out.

The local news station cooks a Thanksgiving meal of recipes sent in by viewers, with usually hilarious results. This year it's deep fried turkey (the batter fell off), pumpkin dinner rolls (didn't rise, renamed biscuits, described as "dense, but the glaze is great") and a couple of veggie sides. At the end of the broadcast they sit down to eat , and it is soooo funny watching them trying to find good things to say about the recipes that didn't work out! They've been doing this for years, and usually the turkey doesn't get cooked enough to eat or gets overcooked, this year the turkey came out the best! Just a fun tradition that makes the news on the holiday a little lighter.

Undy-"the more you suffer the better you look" if that's true than I am STUNNING by now! Don't let the power tools intimidate you-I've learned that power tools are a great equalizer. Once I learn how to use one I LOVE it! But, Juliet is right, you need drinks AND chocolate. At lest you're in the right place for some retail therapy!

Karen-sounds like a great menu. Would you believe that I have never had green bean casserole? I've heard about it, but never eaten it. It must be pretty good!

Tiedye-10 mg of valium works wonders for lots of things! The TLC magazine has lots of neat stuff in it. I like good drugs!

    Wahine-ROTFLMAO!!!!!!! Titz Up, indeed!

    Juliet-good prescription for trauma!

Bernie-HOORAY for the new smile (I remember the day I got my prosthetic boob, the teeth must be even more exciting)! And that is the BEST turkey recipe I've ever come across!

Princess Glitter Sizzle says today's DOTD is "The Gobble Gopbble"
    1/4 oz Wild Turkey Bourbon
    1/4 oz Vodka
    1/4 oz 151 Proof Rum

    Directions
Stir ingredients together in a shot glass, and shoot.

    HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!

Happy Anniversary Scuby....here's to 20 more!

MrsV....if we get a hold of the pumpkin cheese cake there will be more than ¼ missing! ..............knew you would get that tree!

Oh shoot Kathy......you haven't been to the doctors yet? You DO need a spanking for that one. Weed wacker......ya. I was thinking of something else, had to go back and look at Juliet's description. Never tried grilling filet's at home, would be afraid of ruining them.

Hey Dwork.........love the Happy Tanksdwinking, backatcha. And tanks for de dwink!

Shannon, I did not listen to the video, so wasn't sure. Just saw on thumbnail the big word F&CK,so wasn't sure. Saw my DH looking at shoes the other day, didn't notice any boots on the page. I think he likes the shoes more than I do, and of course he loves to see me wearing them.

Karen....we want to see your pictures!

Cindy....never heard of the "C" part of your cocktail. I did Adrimyacin, Taxol and Cytoxin, every 3 weeks for 8 treatments. But I split mine up. AC for 4 weeks, then C for 4 weeks. That 3rd week was a blessing. My hair fell out 2 weeks to the day. I first got it cut rather short, then once it started to fall out, out came the clippers and DH buzzed me. To me, wigs just weren't comfortable and I only wore it if I were out in public. I got me a short blonde wig, always had long hair, so I decided to play with the wigs. I had 3. So I say get ones that you can have fun with. I also did not buy real expensive ones and got all of mine from TLC. Good luck, you can do this. DRINK TONS OF WATER, and try to get as much protein as you can. I was told to try and get at least 40 grams. When you feel worn down, REST! If you don't, it WILL catch up with you.

OMG Kathy....love your Turkey, too funny!

Bernie, you are such a delight.........thank you for the laugh this morning.

NM, safe travels in the snow my friend. Still dark here, but should be a nice day. That is some drink you got there....WOWSA!

HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO THE BREAST GROUP OF GALS I KNOW........BARMEN!

ROFLMFAO, you girlzzz are soooo funny! NM, Love all your cartoons and commentary! The DOTD sounds good, but you must've tried a bit first as you called it the "Gobble Gopbble". LOL. Your turkey cartoon was cute too! Cannot believe you have all that snow....wow....sounds like a rough winter coming on, to me. Lori, Love your turkey cartoon too....sooo funny! And I second the "Barmen" to that one! Of course, I didn't go to the dr yet....waiting for my spanking from Mr. Big, but gotta wait in line....apparently he gives GOOD spankings and everyone wants one! Oh Bernie, I love your turkey cooking recipe....might just have to try it today...LOL. I'm going to send my dad an email saying I just put the turkey in the oven, following this great recipe I found....and copy your recipe there! He will get a kick out of it. Well girlz, what would Thanksgiving be without inviting a good looking native american  to our thanksgiving feast??? (I have dibs on him!)LOL. And the best part? He said all the dwinks are on HIM!!!!

A Very Happy Thanksgiving to all you dears!!!!

Dilemna....don't like the way the pumpkin pie came out....not sweet at all....used a different brand (organic, so that might be my mistake) of canned pumpkin and followed the recipe on the can like I always do.....I do substitute almond milk or soy milk for the condensed milk so it is pareve (not dairy)....always do this....but this year it doesn't seem to have much flavor.....SO...do I make a pie crust from scratch and start all over, or just deal with the pie I have....no sure I have any wipped topping in the freezer!!!

But except for the salad which I'll make just before dinner, everything is done......greenbean casserole, stuffing....2 different types...one with craisins and almonds along with celery and onions and the other mushrooms with the celery and onions,  yams, and DH smoked the turkey yesterday.....so is anything missing from the menu???

In a real funk today.....ususally cooking helps my mood, but today just going through tgohe motions....need to finish cleaning up the kitchen....then I'm going to get a shower and go for a long week......

Happy Turkey day to all the American gals....and happy thursday to everyone else....bbl

Love all the Happy Thanksgiving posts....thanks girlz!

Karen, Do you add cranberry sauce, deviled eggs, pickles, olives, celery, etc? Oh, and some sort of bread (I did corn bread this year). I also add some sort of fruit salad...otherwise sounds YUMMY....our meal will be in a couple of hrs, but I better get meself reddy, before all the company arrives!

    Ciao! Chow!

Kathy.....friends are bringing orange cranberries.....I will put out pickles.....opted against bread as there is already enough starch.....no delived eggs...my family doesn't eat them....may put out chips or nuts to munch on 1st...may do another hot veggie as well.....may opt out of salad and just do cut up veggies....carrots, peppers, cucumbers, red peppers....don't have enough veggies to do a nice salad and a veggie platter.....but there is no shortage of food.

Great walk to the park and around the park....it is so warm out....hard to believe by the weather that its Nov 24th...its 66 at 3:30......lots of people playing and celebrating in the park.....

    Happy feasting......

Raquelle Leather Rock is stuffed too....gonna hit the lounge chair by the pool, and stretch out. NM, looks like you beat me to it....good thing we never run out of lounge chairs! Dinner and dessert turned out real good....and surprisingly my SIL that lives here actually kept thanking me. Since they did a dinner last night for HIS family, he now realizes how much work is involved! That is so nice, just hearing someone say a genuine THANK YOU! Trying to finish off this bottle of German Reisling....Karen are you a bad influence on me??? Just kidding!

Not gonna stand in Black Friday lines this year, or deal with the crowds. At 2am ordered some online stuff that would've had to stand in line for to get that price...funny how some stores have the same sales online, and EARLIER than when they will open for Black Friday! Now to search for more bargains...

    Happy Thanksgiving.

I love this holiday, I always reflect on what I am thankful for. I am most thankful for my life, my daughter, my job and all that I have. Truly, I want for nothing.

Maggie Daley died today. Her husband was the mayor of Chicago for many years.

I hope all here had a great day!

Avery is staying with my aunt tonight so that I can shop early tomorrow. My 1st stop will be the dog food store where I can get 2 (only!) bags of dog food for 30% off until 8am. That's my big Black Friday shopping spree. Laughing

Jaybird, I didn't hear about Maggie Daley passing today, thanks for letting us know. Did I ever tell you many, many yrs ago I lived in Michigan City, IN for 4 yrs? So close to Chicago, but just rode the train there a few times. Haven't been there since 1978, thats where my girls were born. I have a question...is the pet store you are going to either a Petco or Petsmart? I tossed the ad as didn't think anything good would be on sale...but DOG FOOD is a good thing to buy on sale! You are right, so much to be thankful for!

This is weird...wonder if anyone else feels a little "let down" tonight? Everything went well, and I love having my family here, but after sooooo much preparation, it seems like it is over so quickly. Either that, or I am having withdrawals from all that sugar!!! Hope everyones day/night went well!

    Hugssssssssssss!

The store is Pet Supplies Plus. There are 2 in my area. Not a large chain. My dogs eat premium stuff and this is the only store I can get it so am for sure getting up early to buy 2 bags! And some squeeky toys for their xmas stockings. (shhhh - they don't know that I'm 'Santa')

Good morning, Loungettes! Princess Glitter Sizzle is still stuffed. I ate WAY too much at dinner yesterday, but it was all so good, and the visit with the family was so nice, too. Gonna need lots of lounge time today, I think! Actually I want to make a point of getting in a walk when it warms up just a bit. Sadie and I both need some exercise. I thought shoveling snow yesterday morning would have been enough, but the scale says otherwise! The Turkey Shot Out of the Oven

    Jack Prelutsky

The turkey shot out of the oven
    and rocketed into the air,
it knocked every plate off the table
    and partly demolished a chair.

    It ricocheted into a corner
    and burst with deafening boom,
then splattered all over the kitchen,
    completely obscuring the room.

It stuck to the walls and the windows,
    it totally coated the floor,
there was turkey attached to the ceiling,
where there'd never been turkey before.

    It blanketed every appliance,
it smeared every saucer and bowl,
there wasn't a way I could stop it,
that turkey was out of control.

I scraped and I scrubbed with displeasure,
and thought with chagrin as I mopped,
that I'd never again stuff a turkey
with popcorn that hadn't been popped.

Wahine-I'm not a big crown person, so I avoid Black Friday shopping. Online shopping is a wonderful thing! You must have really enjoyed the genuine Thank You's from you SIL, that is a very good thing.

Jaybird-That kind of Black Friday shopping is the only kind I would consider doing! I, too, am thankful for much and need nothing. Wants, on the other hand, abound! But I really have all I need and then some.

Wahine-when I used to do the Thanksgiving dinner at my place I would feel let down when it was all over, too. It seems like a lot of work and preparation (which I enjoy, I love cooking) and just a short time of eating and visiting afterwards. Of course, sugar withdrawal could be an element, too!

Kymn, what a very sweet thing to say. But what would one expect from sweet lady...thank you.

Oh gosh Kathy, leave it to you. I think we have more men here now, than we do gals!

Chrissy, had to laugh at your Happy TG, from DOWN UNDER, as it was posted right under Kathy's Native American!

Mema, good to see you and I agree, it's my favorite place as well.

NM, you are suppose to be STUFFED!

Jaybird, when you are done shopping, you need to work on those pictures!

My clock in the bedroom is SOOOO messed up! I got up cuz it said 5:00, which is my normal time to get up. Well, I go in the living room and it's not even 4:00 yet.............WTH! It was almost an hour and a half off.

NM, LOL, funny cartoons! Yeah, I think sugar withdrawal was a biggie...ate more sweets than dinner...realized I hardly had any turkey and it was sooooo moist and good. My dad thought my DH had cut only little pieces, as even though he cut slices, it fell apart when you'd try to serve it. Love the Maxine cartoon, and the poem about stuffing turkey with unpopped popcorn was hilarious!

Yeah Lori, I thought that too. After posting the picture which took our eyes "down under", then Chrissy posted right after me, wishing us Happy Thanksgiving from "down under"! OMG you really did get up early, even for you.....tooo bad it went to waste as you weren't going Black Friday shopping! Maybe you need a pick-up dwinkie!

Well we still have a kitchen full of dirty dishes, as didn't want to tackle them last night, and didn't want my guests to help. Was much more fun visiting and talking! I had paper placemats out with crayons when the g'kids arrived, so they had fun making placemats for all of us. Turned out so cute too, plus kept them busy! I even had roses in a little vase on the kids table, but of course the water spilled all over! LOL. Should have moved the roses while they were coloring....my bad. Beautiful day here....hope everyone will have a glorious Fried-dey!!!

    Hugssssssssssssssssss,

BLACK FRIDAY!  I don't do it...don't like crowds either.  I am an on-line shopper, will be checking deals on-line through the weekend.

Hope all u loungettes had a great day yesterday!

Karen1956 - I too got into a funk bout noon.  I'd like to share.  Haven't talked about this much in last 7 mos.  Hope ya'll don't mind.

Took my new puppy out back yest, sat in a lounger and jes started bawling.  Miss my mom, 1st holidays w/out her.  She'd been living w/me and DH for 3 years. April 20 I came home from hosp after ultra-sound and mammo to tell my mom I need a biopsy, I didn't tell her tho, that the Radiologist was certain I had BC (but I think she knew).  We were planning to leave the next morning for AZ to spend Easter w/my Aunt (81 yoa, has BC, mast, last Oct).  Told mom my DD would drive her and I'd join after the biop.  Mom seemed OK with that and about 4p went in to take a nap (she had turned 80 in Jan and had no major health issuses).  Half her bed was piled w/clothes we would pack later that evening.  I went in to wake her for dinner and the 6oclock news and she was gone.  It looked like she had sat up on edge of bed and then had heart attack and fell back onto it.  Well, we went to AZ alright, but not for Easter but for a funeral.  On Tues morn, 4-26, day b4 the viewing/rosary my surgeon called, confirmed I had Invasive Lobular BC.  I didn't tell ne1, didn't even cry, had too much to do.   Later, like midnite that Tues, I did cry, alone on my Aunts patio and all of a sudden a strange calm came over me.  Like mom was talking to me.  Told me I'm gonna need all my strength to fight and she wasn't gonna let me waste a bit of it waiting/worrying on her.  She was legally blind and deaf, had trouble walking, but never lost her sense of humor or her zest for life.  She still drank her Beefeater Martini's (cept during Lent) and played her video poker with her thick magnifying glasses on.  She could drink me under the table right up to the end.  She was a wonderful person and I missed her alot yesterday.

But, this is life and I got myself under control, went in and fixed a Stoly tini and ended up having a pretty good day...ever so thankful for my time with her and all my other good fortune.  Like many of you have said...I too lack for nothing, but yes, want is another story!

Sorry for posting such a 'downer'...thanks for listening....now I have bills to pay, a walk w/Baxter to do, and a dwinkin PaRTaY to attend later...hope to see ya'll in the lounge later...MUAH!

Oh MemaSue, Didn't mean to bump into ya. And OMG you have had a horrid year....my eyes are full of tears after reading that. I wish I could give you a big hug, so here is a cyber one (((hug)))....but I know that doesn't do enough. Yes, all the "first" holidays will be the worst, and especially hard since you were the one that found your mom. When my late DH died in our house, the sad memories were everywhere. One thing I learned from our grief support group was to do things TOTALLY different, at least the first year. Even though it may not seem like the holidays, by getting in a different environment, or doing something totally different than you usually do, it seems to help a bit. Plus, your mom lived with you her last years, so you have all of those memories to deal with too. My heart really goes out to you, wish I had something comforting to say. Thanks for letting us know, I know that was hard to do. I am going to delegate Pants to totally take care of YOU and YOUR needs all weekend.....
