s@#$% tyedye my mri is next tuesday but will be thinking and praying for you today, glad the ct/pet is clear now to make it 3 with the mri! overstaffed in work so got to come home at 11pm which is good thing as the tree trimmers were cutting trees about 10 feet from my window yesterday afternoon, so got no sleep was very tempted to push him off his ladder after 2 hours of it!0
-
Good morning ladies. Up wayyyyy earlier than I want to be, thanks to my DH who is a hunter, who got up to hunt at 4:30 and woke me up to apologize for being a jacka$$ last night. Long story, won't bore u with details, but now can't go back to sleep!
Had a loooong day at ICONS yesterday, another ahead. So nice catching up with clients I hadn't seen in 6 months! Cash is nice, too. Lori, you mentioned the name, DD came home from school yesterday and said that her friends were discussing texting terms and what they meant, so she says she told them "my mom is feeling better, and she is doing nails in our basement, and she named it ICONS for illegal cash only nail salon! Isn't that cool?" OMG I thought I'd die!! Poor innocent kid. Had to explain the term illegal to her, lol!
Undy, glad the hot toddy worked for ya, but really supposed to be more warm than hot, lol! Glad you're feeling better.
Bernie, love the fur babies! Great pic!
Stella, glad you're travels are going well!
Lori, def ask about vacation override! Can't hurt.
Cindy, so happy scans are clear! Hated that bilateral MRI, 50 minutes on your knees with your boobies hanging out of holes, no fun! Saying prayers all goes well. As far as work, what do you do? I tried to work through chemo, but was too much for me. By the time I got home I was good for nothing, straight to bed. Decided to take a leave so that what good days, hours, I had I could spend with my family, not coworkers. It's different for everyone. I agree with Chrissy, give it a shot!
NM, that surgery sounds pretty complex and painful! Will be sending love, hugs, prayers your way! That's Monday, right?
Project is done, but need a good camera to take pics, as none of mine are turning out! My lil brother is coming in from Nashville Friday, he will take good ones for me, then I will post!
Hope everyone has a great day! I will be busy at ICONS, but don't have to do anything this year for Turkey day but show up at big brothers for dinner! Taking a pumpkin cheesecake from Costco and homemade wine. Oh, and good friend of mine having us over that am for breakfast, I'm taking bloody Mary's! As hysterectomy is Dec. 12th, will get out of Christmas stuff too. I usually do it all! Not this year!
Cheers Dears! Oh, Kathy, love the Turkey pic! Awesome! LMAO!0 -
Good snowy morning, Loungettes! Woke up early to a dusting of snow and a steady snow fall. Not much wind yet. Should probably get my walk in early to day. Not sure how much attention to give to the doom and gloom, may have power outages weather guessers this morning. Of course, I'm ready anyway, get ready for that stuff in October. Got other things to get ready for today. Got LOTS of house work to do today! Then I get to soak in the HTL hot tub with a nice dwinky poo.
Wahine-Pants is such a good drink pourer. He must have slipped a bit of Fukitol in with the alcohol because I feel very calm this morning. Maybe I'm just not awake yet. Mom and her BF and I are going to my Brother's for Turkey Day tomorrow. Should be lots of fun! Did I mention how good Pants is at pouring dwinkies??

ROTFLMAO at the turkey turding stuffing! Too funny!

I'm not cooking for Thanksgiving, I'm "cooking" for the week after surgery when I will be on liquids and very soft stuff. Took advantage of the situation to buy a whole bunch of individual serving size ice creams, in a whole bunch of flavors. To balance that I also got a whole lot of yogurts, too. Gonna make some custard and cook it in Grammy's custard cups for a special treat when I get home Tuesday. Uncle Jim (the friend with lasagna benefits) is going to stop in Monday evening and let Sadie out and play with her for a bit, so that's all set. Hmm, wonder if I've got the stuff to make a mini-lasagna for him to take home? Have to go look.

Karen-Sounds like great progress in the new doggy search! There was an item on the news last night about chihuahua (sp?) that have been brought into Maine from somewhere, I didn't catch where. The interviewed a woman who went to the shelter to ‘window shop' and left with a dog. I thought of you when I saw that one!

DorK-I've actually turned the crying at medical appointments thing into a joke. I keep telling people I'm going for a 5 year record, now only have about 1 year to go, until March 2012. I think that the staff pay more attention to me because I start crying when I walk through the door. Or maybe not, I don't know. As long as I can talk and say what I need to say I'm learning to not care much about the crying. Someday, though, I want it to STOP! I work with a great bunch of nurses, and am grateful to not be on call Sunday after 8 am. If the weekend is busy I'll make some visits Sunday to lighten the load, and too distract myself. I won't sleep Sunday night, so I've got plans for stuff to do during that time.

Undie-Thanks for the reminder about women being made tougher than men! I needed to hear that! And the video is f'in funny!

Tiedye-HOORAY!!!!!!! Clear scans are good scans! I think working during chemo is something you need to decide for yourself. Many people work during chemo and take precautions during the time when their counts are down, or stay home those days. It doesn't have to be all or nothing. What do you do for work? Can your work be adapted to decrease your exposure to diseases? Cancer is a disability under the ADA so employers have to make reasonable accomodations. I can relate to the need to work for sanity, not to mention money.

Chirssy-I'm with you, let us CELEBRATE!!

Bernie-that's one of the cons of working during treatment. Sometimes we women try to hard to make it easy for every one else and don't take proper care of ourselves. Hmm, I just realized that's something the counselor said to me yesterday. Must think on this. . . .

Juliet-Sometimes overstaffing is a good thing! I imagine hearing the tree trimming (and not the Christmas kind) was not fun while you were trying to sleep.

Mrs. Vino-It was nice of DH to wake you to apologize, but waking you up almost negates the apology! You had to explain "illegal" to your DH? That is TOO Funny! The surgery is actually not very complicated, it just sounds that way. I will have a sore throat for a while, he's going to give me a script for liquid Tylenol with codeine (which reminds me that I need to get some liquid Tylenol for when I don't need the codeine) to manage the pain the first few days. I'm more concerned about the packing in my nose as I don't like mouth breathing even though I have to do that a lot anyway. I have to be at the hospital by 7 am Monday, surgery is scheduled for 10 am, but the pre-op nurse said that I'll probably be in the OR around 9 am. I can't believe you are going to make us wait until Friday to find out what the project is! Not fair!

Wow, I spent a lot of time talking about me this morning. Must mean something but I'm not sure what and I don't care as long as Pants keeps pouring dwinkies into me!

Princess Glitter Sizzle says today's DOTD is "The Day Before Turkey Day Drink"

I'll remember that!
I just got the funniest call from my Mom. Last evening I called her house to ask how the testing went, got the answering machine, left a message. Got a call from her a bit later, thought she was calling me back, but she was calling from her cell phone. Said she'd get the test results next month. Just now she called me, and asked me when I called the house. I told her about what time it was, and that it was shortly before she called me. Dead silence. "I called you last night?" Yes, you did. You had had dinner and was going into Best Buy. "I dont' remember that." No kidding! She was loopy. This morning her BF tells her that the doctor DID give her the results after the test, and she can have whatever surgery she wants, her heart won't give her any trouble. (Big sigh of relief). "I don't remember talking to you. I don't even remember getting dressed."
Loopy Moms are fun!

they sure are!

Hilarious joke Bernie, I didn't see that one coming either.
Wow NM.....where the heck do they come up with those terms???? I totally understand the not getting along with anesthesia!

Glad you got to let it out with the new counselor and great choice of desserts! Hope all turns out ok for your mom.
Kathy, I believe it was Husker that liked the choc. mint Baileys. And I LOVE your cartoons, especially the turkey one.
DorK, glad to hear you are enjoying your parents. To me, Mocha sounds like a boys name, not a girls name. I almost referred to all the fur babies as cousins, but then thought.......well, you are mother and daughter, so that was where I came up aunties and niece.......no matter! Love Pea commercial. Awwww......sawry you feel like crying, hugs for you.
Shannon, is this the video? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FvPbxZmZxZ8 I didn't take the time to watch it, but imagine it is explicit!
Cindy, clear scans...............hip yip hooray! Was going to ask what your job is, then it came to me, as I was thinking "scratches". You are a groomer. So lots of germs there, and you immune system will be compromised. Might be a good idea not to work, unless there is a way you could protect yourself from that. What chemo are you getting and how often?
Juliet, so sorry about those tree trimmers, I guess you run into problems like that frequently, since you work nights. And I am assuming they were not HOT TREE TRIMMERS, or you would not have wanted to knock them off their ladder!
Allison, that is hilarious story about your DD and ICONS. A memory for sure, that you will both laugh about later in life. Out of the mouths of babes! Glad you are able to escape all of the entertaining this year, and just be entertained......I want to go with you! Pumpkin cheesecake sounds yummy. No special dinner out here in da boonies with DH and I, but no turkey. He doesn't like it. Can't wait to see what you have been working on, I think we are all on pins and needles!
Hey, that sounds like a great DOTD! PINS and NEEDLES
Dash of lime juice, 30 ml Blue Curacao, 30 ml Peach Wodka.....Put ice in a hurricane glass (or tall glass). Add 30ml of Peach Vodka, 30ml Blue Curacao and a dash of lime juice. Top with lemonade and add a dash of Granadine for colour.

Sorry for the bump Juliet and NM............oops, forgot. No I am NOT sorry for the bump! NM, glad your mom's results came out good, but I sure hope she wasn't driving!!!!
Juliet, hope you got some sleep.....but what is a strimmer?

Good day before turkey day...hooray for clean scans....my onc told me that I could work through chemo if I wanted (I worked full-time in an elementary school) but if I didn't want to work he would write a letter saying I needed the time off.....only restrictions were due to mastectomy restrictions (no lifting etc)...I chose to work as it was a great distraction and helped to normalized life for me...I had TAC chemo X 6 every 3 weeks....chemo on TH and took Friday off work and sometimes Mondays....I won't say I was the most functional even the next couple days, but I got through it....we had a very good support to have meals cooked for us the week following chemo....
need to go back and read the posts again as I missed some of the things such as the tree trimmer....but need to do some things in the house before DD gets up...thinking of treating her to lunch and the muppet movie she wants to see...DS wants to see it but don't think he wants to go with mom and 13 year old sis (he's 22)....dont' plan to go to the stores today.....and will do my cooking tomorrow....DH is going to smoke the turkey....so I just need to make the yams, green bean casserole, stuffing and 2 pies....doesn't seem like all that much food......
Have a good day!!!

Mom's BF was driving. He wanted to talk to me and she wouldn't give him the cell phone until he parked the car. She doesn't remember that, either!
0 -
WOW NM, that IS scary that your mom didn't remember ANY of that! Glad her tests turned out good, though. And you should be our resident "Girl Scout" as you ALWAYS get so prepared for everything! I am so impressed how you get ready for winter back in October, and are all set when bad weather hits. or you lose power. I am not surprised how ready you will be, before your surgery. Way to go, girlfriend! Hope you get to do a mini-lasagna for your friend that will help with Sadie on Mon night. Love your post, love your DOTD!!!!
Tiedye, SO glad your scans were clear! YIPPEE!!! Really gives you something to be thankful for tomorrow. The 1st turkey day after my dx and surgeries, I "spur of the moment" asked everyone to go around the table and say what they were thankful for this year. Well, I ended up being the first, and REALLY had not thought about this ahead of time, but when I started talking it was about how thankful I was to be alive, etc.....there was not a dry eye after that one! I really didn't mean to get everyone teary-eyed, it just all came out!
Allison, Can't wait to see your surprise! And, OMG, isn't that always the way, your innocent child "spills the beans". Hope her friends keep it to themselves!!! My DD once told a "friend" that she couldn't spend the night at her house cause her mom (me!) didn't like her. OMG did her mom come on the phone and chew me out!!! Funny thing was my DD didn't like her either, but knowing I didn't gave her a better excuse. However her mom was a helper with my GS troop, so it was really touchy for awhile, or should I say really "icy". LOL, can laff about it now, but not at the time! I think DH's think if they are going to apologize, it doesn't matter WHAT time it is...sheesh!
Juliet, I am funcused like Lori is, what is a strimmer?
Beans, are you ok? DorK, so glad you are there with your parents for turkey day!!!
TWO DOTD's again, woohoo....will just portend it is twosdey again and have one in ea hand! Waaay back when we started the DOTD's, I actually tried to make some of them! Now I can't even keep up! Happy Dey B4 Thanksgiving to all youze girlzzzzzz!

Yay for you Bernie, how were the cheeks? LOL @ Kathy, and Juliet both! I sell garden stuff, well watering for gardens, and we used to sell all of the Fiskars Pruners and such. Never heard of one called a strimmer!

Nitey Nite!

LOL Juliet....how in the world did we let Bernie get TWO cheeks bitten? Mustve been really quick. We call them "weed wackers", never heard of them called strimmers before. Maybe a regional thing? Boy I learn something from you gals, everyday!

Scuby- Happy anniversary, hope it was a memorable one. ***Goldie that video is not very explicit.I've heard worse on this thread;) ***Mrs V-I heated it for 10 seconds but it was still toxic. But the important thing is it worked so quickly. I owe you. ***NM- Glad you liked the video. The book is just as funny.I have to remember the name of it though. You're right about those high heels. If we can wear those we have to be tougher than men. You should see the torture devices I just bought(aka boots). I will suffer in them for sure but sometimes the more you suffer the better you look.

Took DD out to lunch at California Pizza Kitchen and then went to see the Muppet Movie....very cute movie...then a litle shopping...what more can a 13 year old want!!!! Nice day with DD.....

DH painted the kitchen door to the outside and the basement door today...really looks good...he also smoked the turkey....so tomorrow is my day to cook...there is only 7 of us for turkey day, so did need to over cook.....greenbean casserole, stuffing, yams, salad, pumpkin pie and pecan pie...will try to do some other baking as well.....not much in the freezer as far as cookies.....
Got the pictures that were taken the other day......only about a dozen from the photog...she tooks tons....these are the best of the best...all are sooooo good....can order pics or jpeg...just need to decide what ones we want and if we want pics or jpeg
Going to pop a cork....be back tomorrow...sweet dreams...

cBernie - New teeth!! How exciting.....you must feel great!! I would be infront of the mirror smiling at me for hours lol! Congratulations!
My MRI turned out not to be bad at all.....could have been the 10mg of Valium I took first he he.
Juliet - will be thinking of you and hoping yours goes as easily!
So here's my cocktail girls: Adriamycin,Taxotere, and Cyclophosphamide....once every two weeks for 4 months. I am a dog groomer and not only work with sharp objects all day, but also more often than not, reluctant clients, lol. It is not uncommon for me to get scratched or bit on a daily basis, so really weighing the pros and cons of working through chemo. Thanks for all the input.......think I will do my first treatment next week, meet Doc for follow-up on the 5th and get her input and go from there.
Looking through the TLC magazine of wigs and hats....guess my hair will go in bout 3 weeks. Any advice on wigs and wearing them?
Mrs. Vino - you ROCK the bandana look!! Did you use those little wispie hair pieces with the bandanas or nothing?
Wishing you all a very blessed Thanksgiving!
Cheers Girls,
Cindy

HOW TO COOK A TURKEY:
First, buy the turkey and a bottle of whiskey. Pour yourself a glass of whiskey and put the turkey in the oven. Take another 2 drinks of whiskey, and set the degree at 375 ovens. Have 3 more whiskeys of drink and turn the oven on. Take 4 whisks of drinky and turk the bastey. Stick a turkey in the thermometer, and glass yourself a pour of whiskey. Bake the whiskey for 4 hours, take the oven out of the turkey, and floor the turkey up off the pick. Pour yourself another glass of turkey. Now just tet the sable, and turk the carvery!
