TIME TO CIRCLE THE WAGONS GIRLS
Comments

Good morning everyone. What a way to wake up. Im sitting here drinking coffee and laughing out loud at all of these jokes. They were great.
The wagon circle is quiet. Thats good, means some of you are sleeping now. Glad the campfire was warm for all of you who could not sleep. Hope your tucked in and comfortable now. There is a brisk wind! Its chilling my bones, but the fire is warm. And for those of you who are still hot and humid - Im blowing some of this your way, just to cool you off a bit.
Peggy: Oh my, I am the original hot mama. Started getting hot flashes about 10 years ago - not medication induced though. WebMd also has a magazine. I read it yesterday while sitting in my PS office and there was a great article about menopausal symptoms. I would wake up and everything was wet. The sheets, my pillows, my hair, my pajama's. Then after the hot flash went away, Id be grabbing my robe cause then I would be cold. Effexor is good. My PCP gave me Lexapro to help with the symptoms. I also found that when I woke up with the hot flash, I would wash my face with cool water - always seemed to help. For me, the worst part of menopausal symptoms was lack of sleep. Then when it was time to get up and go to work, I was so tired. Also I became quite the nasty person at work. I had problems toleterating anything. If someone looked at me in a funny way, I would glare at them. Its pretty hard dealing with a stressful job - somehow with menopause - our coping mechanisms have disappeared. So hang in there Peggy. I got a special place for you in the circle. Have a nice soft mattress that with a click of a button, will cool you down or warm you up, depending on what you need at that time. Woman!! We are so strong. No man could go through periods, babies, and menopause! Anyways, if the effexor isnt enough - make sure and talk to your onc again. Get the right combination of medications that will help you through this. Liz and I have big feather hand held fans in the medic tent. We will take turns cooling you off so you can sleep. And we will feed you grapes if ya want. But if I were you, I wouldnt take any grapes from liz - I think she needs to be quaranteened.
Carrie: Oh I bet a cold virus set off this asthma attack. To me thats the worst kind. Take your medication, rest, drink lots of liquids - and warm liquids will help loosen up the mucous in your lungs. "You my dear - are in the quaranteen wagon."
tgirl: Oh you must be so excited about the Martha Stewart show. I wish I could see it.
Liz: When I got my cold a few weeks back, at first I thought it was allergies. Then the cold came on strong and heavy. So good luck. I think I need to pull you from the medic tent and put you in quaranteen too.
laurap: thanks for letting me know about Tbytes.
Tbytes: you are in the middle of the circle. We will help you through this. I cant believe the conversation you had with with your onc. I know you are tired, but you are not ready to leave this world yet! Period! Said and done. Try not to thing about time frames. Just enjoy everyday you can with your family and friends. Im sending you the warmest hug.
Cheryl: Oh the brunch sounds like it will be so much fun. A new grand baby and a grouchy husband. How thats a combination of emotions.
Cookie: So good to hear from you. Camping sounds like fun. What kind of foods ya gonna cook at the campsite?
Mena: Oh my, it just doesnt end. Now your best friends daughter has bc. Everytime I look around, I hear of someone else being newly diagnosed. I put a new wagon in the middle of the circle, right next to yours.
DebC: hope your feeling better today. Ya know what they say about colds? 3 days coming, 3 days with you, and 3 days leaving. Just rest and drink plenty of fluids. At the first sign of coughing up yellow - call the doctor and get an antibiotic.
So it seems our quaranteen section is getting bigger. Counting my husband, DebC, Carrie, and now liz!1
Mama nurse say WASH YOUR HANDS EVERYONE!
I have some pancake batter ready for when you all wake up. Love the smell of pancakes in the morning. And picked some fresh berries and made a great syrup for them. Canadian bacon for those on a low fat diet. Regular bacon and sausage for everyone else. Except me of course - breakfast today? A hard boiled egg, piece of string cheese, and some fresh fruit. Oh this is just so yummy!!
Also have lots of chicken soup, french onion soup, and sweet and sour soup. Cooking those pots need the quarateen wagons.
To those I have missed, you were not forgotten. Mena, NS, and oh so many more. I have a special place by the campfire with my arms open to hug you all when you wake up.
Be safe, be well, talk to you all later.

Vickie0 -
My little guy has a terrible cold...yuck...that time of year again. Seems like as soon as he goes back to school the colds start up again. He's a cuddle bug so he'll cuddle with any of you ladies in the medic wagon (that already have a cold!)and will stay far from any of us who are currently healthy. Passing out the hand sanitizers, clorox wipes, Lysol, tissues, hot chicken noodle soup to all in need.
Hugs
Vickie0 -
I just sent a card to a friend: it had a picture of an elderly couple dancing with the caption:
"I said, I have acute angina!"...
I just split a gut over this LOL LOL
By the way, hi everyone. I am cuddling up to you all. I need some hugs.
Wendy A0 -
Oh Vickie poor shuggie, let me have him I am a grandma,
and am already coughing my fool head off my ribs are killing me! I'll cuddle with him and we will eat popcicles
for our sore throats and drink a little 7up when Mom is not looking hee hee .
hugs,

Hi girls, I am checking in! Sorry for staying away for so long. I was bombarded with wonderful emails from friends and family yesterday and spent most of my day responding to them! By the time I got to BC.org, I was just too exhausted to visit the boards. But I am back today!
Thanks to all for your thoughts and encouraging words! I am now working on getting through Day 3, and still drinking and peeing, drinking and peeing! Yesterday when I went for my Neulasta shot, I asked for something to help me sleep. My onc gave me Restoril, and it did the trick! So I feel better today in that department. And still no nausea! I was taking Senekot at night, but maybe did not need to since I had the opposite problem this morning (sorry for TMI!). So I am feeling not too bad, just kind of like I do when I am coming down with the flu.
Hugs to everyone who needs one. I just did not have the energy to keep track as I was reading the 53 posts that piled up since my last visit, but I am keeping you all in my prayers.
Hugs!
Kristin0 -
Morning ladies. Hope everyone is well today or as well as can be.
Peggy, My hot flashes have gotten much better since being put on Lexapro. Give it time kiddo. I'm also much easier to get along with I'm told unless someone really ticks me off.
Cheryl, oh a new grandbaby... how wonderful. They are so much fun to cuddle. Don't think I'll ever have one as my son swears he'll never get married. Of course nowdays that doesn't matter does it?
Cookie, where in Kansas are you? I'm in northern Oklahoma. I do think this is allergies - 89 here yesterday 63 today and back to the 80's the rest of the week. Camping sounds like fun and just what you need. Enjoy!
Mena, sorry about your friends daughter. Bring them both here and we'll comfort and care for them. You'll be a great help and inspiration to her as you are to me.
Deb, big hugs hon. Sudafed does wire dome. I'm sure you're lonely and missing your family just try to remember you'll killing all those little bugger microscopic cells that may be lingering.
Carrie & JoJo, I'm sitting here laughing at the jokes. Hope both of you are feeling better today.
Nicki, feeling okay so far today. I've diagnosed myself (LOL) with allergies. But will keep an eye on it and have started Airborne just in case. Pancakes sound wonderful but am going to try to stick to my diet.
Vickie, love the frogs! But I'll pass on the frog legs tonight. You do know they jump when you put them in the hot oil - ewwwwwww. Hope your son gets to feeling better poor little guy.
Okay, I know I've missed many but need to get up and moving. Hugs to you all and will check on everyone later.

Good morning circle girls or early afternoon whatever you would like to call it. Its 9:55 am in Alabama and all is well.
Lini57-I know what you mean about still have the air on. Mine is still running also and will for a while. We have upper 80's during the day and 60 and maybe even a 50 at night which is great.
Chemosabi-I am a printer also and I am not left handed. I have always printed and hated it in school when I had to do the cursive thing. Be careful driving in as you stare at the clouds and see grey poodles. Might better keep one eye on the road. lol. I love lying back on a blanket and staring at the clouds and seeing what I can see. Thanks for the pancakes also, they were wonderful. The fresh berries were the best.
AlaskaDeb-sorry to hear you have a cold. Got some nice chicken soup for you and hopefully that will help. I will set it outside my wagon and you can have it but I dont want to get close to anybody that is sick. Chemo and sickness doesnt go together.
Debbyfive-let us know if you have to go early so we can get our wagon train ready for the ride in. Might have to leave the wagons behind and just jump on our horses and donkeys because it might be faster. Wishing you a speedy recovery.
Peggy-I understand the hot flashes. I have a 12 year old son and he said the other day that he was wondering when it would be cool enough to turn the heat on. I said heat? are you crazy,,,air is running year round in this house buddy so you better get out the sleep pants. He just laughed. I am also on effexor and it does help but its true what they say about alcohol-when I drink they are worse the following day. Don't forget to take it because you get a weird feeling if you skip a day or at least I do.
Cookie-have fun on your camping trip. I will be camping Saturday night when I get back from my family reunion but then again I camp about every weekend.
Tbytes-thinking of you and cant imagine hearing the news you have heard. Hang in there girl and let us circle girls stand strong with you.
Sorry to all of you that didnt sleep well last night. Hopefully tonight will be a better night for you. I enjoyed the jokes also and laughed out loud as I read them.
Lini57-I know I have already typed to you but oh well,,I know what you mean about cleaning your boys room. When I go in my sons room and start cleaning I quickly understand why there are a few ants and am truly amazed that I did see more things. gum wrappers, candy wrappers, things I cant even figure out what they once were. Boys,,Geesh!
Well, I know I have left many out-No note taking today so I am winging it. My thoughts are with everyone that is having a rough time.
Tossing a log on the fire for those that are cold and I am heading out to make my rounds. Hugs to all, I shall return. Amy0 -
Wendy...sending you some hugs...are you ok? We can put you in the center for some extra attention any time you need it.
Vickie0 -
Thanks Carrie...he's coughing his head off too and loves popsicles! Mom won't mind...he doesn't have a grandma and tells me he needs one! He does have an "adopted" grandpa though who loves him very much (almost as much as I do).
I have to admit something here...I feel so incredibly guilty sometimes for adopting him...I love him more than I can ever put into words (more than air) but geez...friggin BC!!! I'm all he's got (along with his wonderful big sister but she's 25 and lives in Florida)...and I worry constantly that I selfishly took him and he could lose me before he's even grown! I know...dumb...but it can keep me awake at night!
oh me...sorry...having a bit of a down day...someone come kick me in the pants!
Love and hugs all around
Vickie0 -
Vickie...no time for kicking....just keep your head up...even if he wasnt adopted you would still worry...speaking from one adopted child to anothers mom...
Ok now for lunch....pigs in a blanket on a stick , so stoking up the camp fire to cook lunch...
bringing the wool blankets again its cooling down...son't want evryone sick...passing around the tea...grandma's cure for everything...lol...
Deb5 the bus is gasseed up and installed a dvd player so we can watch movies on the way....you know we wil all be with you...
Nicki...how's that resume coming...nag nag nag....
to all prayers & healing thoughts

Hello Sweet Sisters!
I had no internet yesterday and last night so I couldn't talk with the Circle Girls!!!!!
I have to read everything and catch up so I will be back later. I am still a little iffy about this connection - they were trimming trees for power lines and trimmed the cable lines instead!
((((((hugs)))))))
to all of you
I'LL BE BACK!!!0 -
Hi all, thought I'd update you. I went to meet with one dr. about a trial yesterday without placebo but didn't qualify for another 4 months because I had just finished Xeloda. Returned to oncologist's office and signed up with her trial which is chemo with Avastin, yet possible chance for placebo. In the meantime tomorrow having a port reinstaled (:() and have to wait a week before I can start. During this time plan to try to get preapproval for Avastin with Insurance company. Feeling better as I at least have a plan. Trying to focus on the positive and each day and not worry about the future. I still am having a hard time accepting the stage 4 title. I guess I just don't feel like it is since it isn't in organs just distant nodes. I'm praying chemo/avastin will knock it out. Thought I might bring some smores tonight to the fire. I can taste the gooey marshmellows just thinking about it. Till later. Lisa

Carrie-
You made me laugh so hard with the laxative joke OMG the funny thing is that in the middle of all this coughing I now have Montezumas revenge!
Vickie- The frogs are TOO funny I dont know how you and Peggy find these things, but Im sure glad you do. Instead of If life gives you lemons, make lemonade, we have if life gives you frogs, eat frog legs!
Thank you ALL for indulging me last night. I really did need a laugh. Im doing better now that the sun is up. I think you gals might be the only ones that understand how a cold can just be the final straw.
Hugs too all that are in the center of the circle with real problems. You are all in my thoughts and prayers every day.
I snagged my chicken soup from outside my wagon door and Im headed back to bed.
Deb C.0 -
Doing a quick lunchtime check in here.
AlaskaDeb glad to see you smiling again. I totally understand the whole cold thing. I can almost take anything but a stupid cold. Hope the arm is doing better also.
MB lunch sounds wonderful. Good idea you had there once again.
NS-glad to hear you are back connected. Dont you just hate it when you cant get online. That is always the time that I think of a zillon things I need to look up.
Lisa40-so glad you checked in to let us know whats going on. I know what you mean about having a plan. I hate the mets part because you dont know a number of treatments you will need and you cant count down but at least there is a plan.
Vickie-no need to kick you-everybody gets to say whatever they feel. You are a good mom and no reason to have regrets. Thank of everything he is learning from you. Now,,pass me one of those popsicles-I hope I get banana.
ok just a quick check in on everybody and glad that I did because I got to find out that AlaskaDeb was smiling and that Lisa has a plan. woohoo-life is good.
Amy0 -
I posted just a short note this morning before lunch, but I don't know what happened to it! Don't remember what it said either, unfortunately.
Oh well - I'm sure I wished everyone a good day and sent good thoughts out to all in need. Vickie - every mother gets those guilt feelings, not just about adopted kids! You're gonna have to give me a better reason than that to give you a swift kick!
Camping this weekend is gonna be fun - cool enough for a campfire for sure! And hopefully quiet & relaxing. Nothing fancy for supper tomorrow night - we call it camping soup. Just hamburger, potato, onion, celery and a couple cans of veggies. And some good shakes of cayenne pepper & Tabasco! Huevos Rancheros casserole for breakfast Sat. morning. Sat. evening we will be driving into town for my office picnic. Hope I get lucky & win one of the employee drawings: A day off with pay (yes!) - $100 cash - 2 tickets to a Chiefs game with $100 cash. Wouldn't that be great?
Liz-I think I have your allergies or whatever today - woke up all stuffy, tickly throat, etc. this morning. We live south of Chanute in SE Kansas. Ronda0 -
Thanks all...for your "no kicking" comments. Just one of those days...a lot of people gave me a really hard time about adopting Nathaniel when he came into my life, said that I was too old (39!), why would I adopt now...my daughter was just getting ready to graduate, I was single, etc....then BC strikes and niw I have people ask me if I'm "sorry" that I adopted him rather than let him be adopted by a younger couple...NO I'M NOT...MY CHILDREN ARE MY LIFE...BUT...yes, I do feel guilty and sometimes their comments really hit me in the heart.
We all love our children, we all worry about them, we will survive...they will be fine...that's my prayer for all of us.
Love
Vickie0 -
Vickie, keep th egood thoughts, a mothers love is so important...it doesnt know if you adopted Nathaniel or not...love is love....thankyou for taking the time to give a child a loving parent...and a big sister....
Dinner time is on someone else tonight...hubby taking me out...whooo hooo....putting on my dancing shoes...and my good boob...lolol....
Lv2cmp....did I tell you I was a summer camp counselor for 7 years......
have a peaceful night and if I miss yu all this weekend,,,happiness all around the circle....
MB0 -
OK gals, I made a huge pot of chicken stew...fresh homegrown carrots, celery, onions, swiss chard, snap peas, kale and potatoes make a YUMMY stew. The biscuits are in the oven and the honey and homemade raspberry jam is on the table. I also have a big pot of chamomile tea and another of peppermint tea.
Hugs to everyone.
Deb C.0 -
Alas! Almost the end of the week, but busy as heck. So cant stay on very long tonight. Deb C. What are you doing out of bed cooking?
Today was a great day. The clouds were over Lake Michigan again today. Dark clouds with white billowing clouds on top of them. They really looked like mountains!! A cold front for Chicago is surely on its way.
My low carb meal tonight? Well husband made spaghetti sauce with ground beef and meatballs. He sauted zuchini. Gonna have a layer of zuchini, richotta cheese, and then tomatoe sauce. Sounds yummy for low carb? And of course fresh fruit and Olive Olives Olives.
Hope everyone has a wonderful evening. Will check back in the morning and get ready to ride along with debbyfive.
Nicki0 -
wow...storming like mad here...thunder, lightning, torrential rain, flash flood warnings, the works...time for this girl to sign off and seek shelter! I can see the headlines now...survived BC...struck by lightning and that would really tick me off!!!
hugs all, have a peaceful, restful, happy dreams night.
Vickie0 -
Evening girls
I didn't want to infect anyone so I went to the doctor today. I was right LOL allergies. But was also diagnosed with severe stress/anxiety which is causing my breathing problems. So oh goody I get another pill.
Kristen, good for you girl! Keep up the drink and pee! How did the Neulasta shot treat you? Any bone pain?
Vickie, You are a wonderful individual for adopting a child and giving him a loving warm caring home. Don't think of what if's. Be safe in the storm. I also have thoughts of survived BC and killed by a flippin tornado. I too would be ticked off.
MB, oh I'm so glad we're going via bus. I still haven't found a horse and couldn't imagine riding in with someone else. And hey girl, you look good in those dancin shoes.
Lisa, smores sounds wonderful! Is there a way to make them low carb? LOL
Cookie, hope your allergies calm down. Tis the season (especially in our part of the states) for them. I use the Claritin Redi tabs and they do work fast.
Deb, thanks for the chicken stew it was wonderful. BUT you stay in bed and we'll cook for you. Hugs I hate colds.
Peggy, mailed your chillow pillow today. They SAY 3 to 7 business days for you to get it. Geez, you'd have thought I was mailing something illegal with all the customs forms. LOL
Nicki, that low carb meal sounds delicious. I'll have to give it a try. I'm not contagious (just maybe going crazy?) so I'll be here to help you out in the tent.
I'm bringing out some extra blankets and soft pillows for anyone who needs them. I'll hang out here for the evening shift and will light some candles. Be safe and warm everyone or cool if that's the case. Big hugs.
Liz0 -
Well, to start, No, that isn't a Rhodesian Ridgeback dog outside my tent.... it is the way the groomer decided to shave my long haired Maine Coon cat! I was a nervous wreck all day- it was his first vet visit since he adopted me and he is healthy and weighed in at 24 pounds. But the vet, who raises Maine Coons says that is normal. But his HAIR! He looks so strange! He also isn't coming out of the anesthesia too well and can't walk... I won't rest until he is his normal self again.
First I have to say I am SO PROUD of you Lisa!!! YOU ROCK! Not only are you a fighter- but you have a plan A - B- AND C set up for yourself! THAT IS THE ONLY WAY TO GO!!!
And I feel the same way about stages that I do about stats. Why don't we do a different one for you? Stage 4 means distant nodes and Stage 5 means organs? Deal?
Can't wait to have your smores and for you to be started on the new protocol....I am so happy you are moving FORWARD!
Carrie? I am hoping and Praying you are feeling better with all your meds on board now!
Nicki? How IS that resume coming? *nudge* *nudge* My recommendation letter is ALL READY!
Sweet Tbytes- come sit by the fire...let us warm your heart and soul.
Vickie so sorry your little one is sick...stop kicking yourself! Every second he has with you he thinks of as a precious jewel.
Hey Kristin! SO GLAD to hear you are doing so well! Don't worry about TMI! And in that department while on chemo better out than in!
MB- Thanks for the pigs in the blanket! Yum!!!
how is Shel feeling? Better???
Well off to check on my drugged out stoner cat!0 -

shel is ok lol!
i'll survive, i always do..........thanks to you all for all your great analogies and warm wishes.
i'm still here, just really down right now, so not much levity in my heart.
i'm sure it'll come back soon though......in the meantime, keep those meals coming and those home fires burning. and please know that as self absorbed as i am right now, i think about and wish for all the best for everybody elses plight of late!
a jerk for a husband does not compare with the hands that others have been dealt.......and i really do have that in pespective and wish you all the best.
g'night girls........thanks for your support, it got me past the worst........i hope i can do the same for some of you someday!0 -
debbyfive--wishing you the best and dont worry about the meals. We will have you plenty to eat. Can't wait for the first update.
NoSurrender-I had the drugged up dog recently and she is an Austrailan Cattle dog (Blue Heeler) and didn't understand why she was wobbly. It didnt take her long and she was back to driving me crazy. She is such a loving girl but loves like a bull in a china shop. I think the majority of my bruises come from her loving me.
I recently had a lab dog generously dropped off and she is a female. You guessed it,,its in season time. GRRRRRRR! I was taking her to the vet this Saturday for shots since she was dropped off. Needless to say she has a pair of shorts on and I must admit I think she likes them. Geesh, could my life get any more exciting. Ever think you have too many animals? I guess I don't have to think,,I know.
Dinner was wonderful AlaskaDeb but you should be in your wagon resting. You relax and let us others handle it. It is your time to be waited on until that nasty cold passes.
g'night girls I have made my rounds and everything looks safe on the homefront. Throwing some logs on the fire to keep us warm throughout the night and lighting my candles for all the sisters. Sorry if my generator is bothering anyone but I am watching the football game and really hoping that I see Auburn lose.

Ladies...work is kicking my A$$ royally...my boss is feeling really guilty about me being under so much pressure *considering everything I'm going through* (making a mental note to milk THAT for all it's worth...hmmmm close to Christmas too!!)
One of the lawyers that works at our firm just found out her mom has stomach cancer...sucks...she is devastated as they are really close. I feel so bad for her.
So, if I have port will it make my hot flashes worse?? Did I read that somewhere??? I sure hope not.
Well, I'm out for the rest of the evening...I have a HUGE day tomorrow at work and I need to stay away from the computer!
Hugs
Peggy
PS: Thanks Liz...you rock!0 -
I got this via email and thought I would share it with my Cirlce Gals & friends & family:
I was told a story about a lady in the hospital who was near death when an area Chaplain came to visit her. This Chaplain was a very young female with long blond hair. She listened to the lady who was ill and left her a small gift for comfort. It was a tiny ceramic frog. The next day one of the people from the lady's church came to visit. The lady told her friend about the beautiful young Chaplain who had come to visit her. The friend was so impressed with the way the lady had improved and felt the need to talk to the young Chaplain. In her search to find the young gal, she was repeatedly reassured that the chaplains are never very young and that there was never a gal that fit the description given.
Upon returning to the lady in the hospital, a visiting nurse entered the room and noticed the ceramic frog. The nurse made the comment "I see you have a guardian angel with you." As she held the little frog. We asked why she made the comment and we were informed that the frog stood for:

Hi all,
I wanted to let you know I am still around, just laying low. I'm having DH problems and just found out I have high blood pressure to go with my migraines, carpal tunnel, bad knees etc. But again, nothing to compare with what the rest of you are going through.
So can I have a little cheese with my whine???
God Bless,
Susan0
