I told ya'll I was headed to mass earlier and the Priest's homily reminded me of this song. I posted the lyrics in the Inspiration forum, but wanted to share them with my family here as well...

    (Seals and Croft)
Life, so they say, is but a game and we let it slip away.
Love, like the Autumn sun, should be dyin' but it's only just begun.
Like the twilight in the road up ahead, they don't see just where we're goin'.
And all the secrets in the Universe, whisper in our ears
And all the years will come and go, take us up, always up.
We may never pass this way again. We may never pass this way again.
We may never pass this way again.

Dreams, so they say, are for the fools and they let 'em drift away.
Peace, like the silent dove, should be flyin' but it's only just begun.
Like Columbus in the olden days, we must gather all our courage.
Sail our ships out on the open sea. Cast away our fears
And all the years will come and go, and take us up, always up.
We may never pass this way again. We may never pass this way again.
We may never pass this way again.

So, I wanna laugh while the laughin' is easy. I wanna cry if it makes it worthwhile.
We may never pass this way again, that's why I want it with you.
'Cause, you make me feel like I'm more than a friend. Like I'm the journey and you're the journey's end.
We may never pass this way again, that's why I want it with you, baby.

We may never pass this way again. We may never pass this way again.
We may never pass this way again. We may never pass this way again.

Hi Candie, did I ever tell you how bad my memory was. LOL I don't remember how long it took to get better. I've had a knee replacement since then also. It took more than a couple of days. It was probably more like 2-3 weeks as your doctor said. I wasn't working so I didn't have to worry about vacation time, etc. Take all the time you can from work. It takes a while just to get over the anesthetic and get that out of your system. good luck.

Vicki I'm so sorry you didn't get the job. I will hold your hand and tell you how great you are and how stupid that company is.

Nickie sorry about the electricity problems. Heard it was pretty bad in Chicago.

    Christine you are so sweet.

thanks for the cheering up about the job thingy. I guess I would be feeling about the same if I hadn't had cancer and I was just getting old. It's hard to feel you are not on top anymore. The good news is I'm turning it over. I'm putting God in charge.

    thanks to all my sisters.

Happy Sunday Evening Friends. I had a lovely day. Started out a bit slow. Hubby has a sinus infection and stayed in bed till almost one. But my darling baby boy called me from his ship. It was very very good to hear his voice.
When hubby got up he took me shopping. Went to a little boutique downtown. You know the type.....the ones only the tourists shop in cause they are so pickin expensive. Got a dress, a skirt, a pair of pants, and several shirts. Then we went to the fancy schmancy restaurant for dinner. It was soooooo good. A good birthday. Now I'm pooped and heading to bed in just a bit.

Charlene, I'm kinda partial to the words I make up too. Just part of my charm. hahahahahah
No liquor in the grocery stores? WOW!!

Margaret, that is probably the one thing I learned from watching those shows. Always get a whole house inspection. In our case tho we knew our shack was falling down when we bought it. Thats why it was so cheap. We payed $70,000 for it 9 years ago. Pretty unheard of in CA. Have probably put close to $200,000 into it over time and it's still not finished.

Gina and Vicki, I'm guessing that pic is Heidi Klum? Somebody should tell her to put some clothes on. She is embarrassing her mother.

Sheri, 40 miles, wow again. That amazes me.

Guz/Sue, did you find the perfect back to school outfit?

Socal, Indeed is my all time favorite word. It just fits so many different situations. The bat problem will be taken care of properly. Or hubby will be sleeping with them.
You were out pruning in this heat? Are you crazy????

Hi Rita, nice to meet you.

Marsha, Of course he missed me. I'm just like Mary Poppins, Pratically Perfect in Every Way. Who wouldn't miss me???? hahahhahahhahahahahahhahahahha
Got my pics from our lunch on my puter this morning. I'll post them in the next day or so. I am so so so so so so so glad you made the drive down to see me.

Brenda, don't ya just hate it when that happens.

Karen, I used to love Date Night when my kids were at home. Thank you for the card.

    Deb, praying for your sister.

Christine, growing up in only for those who have nothing better to do.

    Hi Lorene

Cherryl, thanks it's good to be home.

Awwwww Sweet Vicki, I am so sorry you didn't get the job. Want me to call them and tell them what idiots they are?

Cy, you have the perfect excuse for spending all day in bed. Thanks for the birthday wishes.

Choca, I do hope you haven't broken a rib. But even more I hope you get rid of this nasty bug before you go home. Do your bestest to have a grand time.

Candie, have we? I have the memory of a slug. So nice to meet you again. Chemo Angels is a program where you are assigned a patient and you send them cards and gifts while they are in treatment. I found out about it somewhere on here. Go to.... http://www.chemoangels.net to sign up.

    Hi Colleen

Glad you had a grand time with your kids Denise.

Nicki, 3 days? yikes and yowsers!!! Thats horrid. Did the wedding still happen? Did they change the location. Bet they never thought they would get rained out in August. What happened with your puppy?

Sweet dreams CherylG and everyone else. Except Peter of course. Good morning to you Good Sir.
Have a great night one and all, I'm off to bed.

Good Morning Everyone: I cant believe I can actually come on the computer. Its been awful since the storm that came through here on Thursday. Didnt even have a radio for the 1st 2 days cause all the batteries were sold out. I really cannot believe it took the electric company 3 1/2 days to restore our electricity. Thank goodness that ordeal is over.

Im feeling much better. Actually going back to work today. Its weird, cause I got used to sleeping later. Who wouldnt? Getting up to a dark house and no coffee is like a very bad dream. So I was sleeping till 9am everyday. Then running out to the store to get coffee.

My dog Mister - we still dont know what he did. Went outside Friday morning, came back in limping. Couldnt get him into the Vet until the following morning - the dog walked around on three paws for a whole day. We finially bring him into the Vet and as soon as he walked into the office - it was a miracle - no more sore paw! Amazing what a little fear will do. I think the vet just scared that pain right out of his paw. Made us look like fools. Anyways, the Vet thought it was a tendon and gave him medicine. He is fine now.

Our telephones were down too, so on Friday I had my cell phone charging in the car. Got a phone call from my doctors nurse saying that my PCP wanted to talk to me. I called them back as soon as possible - but he didnt call me back a second time. So now I have been sitting here all week-end worried about why he wanted to talk to me. I had lots of blood work done and Im thinking my cholesterol must be pretty high. But I really wont know until I talk to someone there hopefully today.

Sure did miss speaking to all of you and hope everyone is doing ok.

Christine: that is really a pretty song and the words really hit home. Once I got batteries I at least was able to listen to the radio. Music had a whole new and different meaning for me.

SoCal: Right after I was able to make a quick post, the electricity went out again. So I was really freaking out. But it came back on about 45 minutes later and has stayed on since then. I never want to go through that ordeal again. Im going to write a letter to the Illinois Commerce Commission. They were monitoring how Commonwealth Edison was doing with getting the electricity back. I know there was alot of damage, but 3 1/2 days is really ridiculous. Sure proved they are prepared for an emergency!

Susan: I dont know all that is going on, but it sounds like you are disappointed at you job hunting activities. In a way, I feel like you do. I have lost a spark of enthusiasm. Cant even imagine changing jobs now and taking on fulltime management responsiblities. You hang in there, cause I do think a job will come your way. My goodness today I looked at myself for the first time in a mirror since Thursday. You should see me. Hair is all salt and pepper, dark circles around my eyes. BC has aged me at a time I couldnt afford to feel old. Im 57 now and feel like I should be on medicare.

Sherloc: Sounds like you are home and things are back to normal. Sounds like you had a wonderful Birthday. Your Birthday was on my 29th Anniversary. Didnt celebrate though, both my DH and I were just so bummed out about the electricity. They still had the wedding on the boat. The rain had stopped, and most people had their electricity restored. Guess we were on the low priority. I just couldnt go to the wedding. Between recovering from pneumonia, having a sick dogs at home and no lights - that was IT! I decided I couldnt fight the run of bad luck - so just went with it. I will save my black dress. Pretty soon the Holidays will be ocming up. It would be a perfect New Years Eve party dress. Anyways, Happy belated Birthday my friend.

Charlene: Hoping you had a grand Birthday also. Cant believe I missed so much in just 3 days. 1st day of school? Yuck!

Good morning sunshine sister Jankay. Yes that picture does say it all. Especially when one has been off work like I have for the last week and a half. Im not looking forward to going back to work today, but I have been so isolated, it will probably feel good to just be out.

Vickie: Im sorry you didnt get that job. I know its an old saying, but I do believe things happen for a reason and when one door closes another one opens. Sending lots of hugs your way.

Well - time is up, gotta hit the shower and get ready for work. Still have bad road construction on the main highway I use, so leaving earlier will help. Hope everyone has a wonderful day.

Rita, an all night flea market sounds interesting.

Lisa, that was pretty funny about the "flush" toilet.

Karen, how was the date last night?

Deb, saying an extra prayer for your sister.

Lorene, glad to hear things are returning to "normal".

CY, how are you feeling today? I will post a pic, probably after the wedding.

Elaine, you're going to the UK - for business or pleasure?

Candie, send me a PM (I'll forget otherwise) and I'll give you instructions on posting pics.

Colleen, glad you had a good time.

Denise, you were missed this weekend; welcome back.

    Z, nice picture at brunch.

Nicki, no power for three days! Sorry you didn't make it to the wedding;I hope you get to wear that black dress soon. Glad Mister is better.

Vickie, I'm sorry you didn't get the job - do they realize what a mistake they made? Vickie, if I had that body, it wouldn't matter if my mom was embarrassed. I'd wear what I could and proudly.

Susan, love the new avatar. The jobs haven't been right for you. One will come along, probably when you're not expecting it. I just read Cheryl's post and it was almost exactly what I wrote - great minds think alike.

Shirley, sounds like you had a great birthday. Wow, what a deal for your house. You don't find that kind of price in California and $200k in remodeling still makes it a good deal. We paid $175k for ours 22 years ago, at the height of the housing crisis - we saw it and was told they were reading multiple offers that afternoon so if we wanted it we had to make an offer. And we're not done remodeling either.

Charlene, peanut butter cup ice cream cake - sounds yummy with all my favorite things.

Odalys, a reduced fat doughnut. My little local bakery makes baked doughnuts...not bad.

Theresa, you got that backwards - it's supposed to be as long as mama is happy, then everyone's happy; if mama ain't happy, no one's happy.

Hope everyone from Amy to Z and Peter has a great day. Time to shower and get my day going.

Good Morning Sunshines!!!!!! I know, just trying to be positive on this Monday morning.

Nicki - glad you got your power back. Because of the heat here all I could think was - No Air. Hot flashes do make us think differently. Hope your first day back at work goes well.

Vicki- sorry about the job; a better one will come along. You feeling better?

Jankay, Odalys - your Monday morning funnies got this Monday morning going with a smile.

Deb- hoping your sister shows some improvement today.

Gina - With the insurance issues, is the surgery still on today?

I can't seem to get fully awake - more coffee maybe. I would just like to curl up and go back to bed. Don't think we are to get rain but it is cloudy. Gray days make me just want to stay in bed - I'm always late during the winter months.

Hope all my sisters have a great day filled with sunshine and laughter - or if you are having test/procedures lots of good pain meds. Hugs, Brenda

    Good morning everybody!

Nicki...Wow! 3 days without electricity! I don't envy you that one! I can't believe all the standing water that we saw when we came up I-88 this weekend. There were places where the fences were completely underwater. You guys got it lots worse than we did. So sorry that you missed the wedding.

Christine..What part of MO are you from? My son spent four years in Rolla at the University. It's beautiful country in that area.

Charlene...Happy belated birthday to another Virgo. YUMMY! Your birthday cake sounds perfectly sinful!!!!!

I'm meeting another local bc survivor for lunch today so need to get motivated and get a few things done around here before I take off but wanted to wish everybody a good Monday.

    Happy Monday everyone!

Nicki, know EXACTLY what you mean about the 3 1/2 days with no electricity. During the hurricanes a couple years ago, we lost power the same amount of time. Thought I would lose my mind. We were lucky tho, a friend of mine was out 10 days and finally moved her and 3 kids to a hotel!

Have a great day Amy to Z.... Marsha

Good Morning Everyone. Time for me to get back to the real world. Have a gazillion errands to run today. Have to do all the things that hubby didn't do while I was gone.

Charlene, I was lucky. My kids were all morning people like me. Made school mornings easy. Good luck.

    Hi Jankay

Nicki, Happy Belated Anniversary to you. Now that the electricity is back on wear that pretty dress out to celebrate.

Odalys, reduced fat doughnuts? where's the point in that?

    Good Morning Candie and Theresa

Margaret, Isn't remodeling grand? Life in an old house is it's own little world.

Brenda, I hate grey mornings too. Gina's having surgery today? Someone fill me in pretty please.

    Have a great lunch Rita.

Marsha, I whine when my electricity goes out for more than an hour. I can't imagine being without for 3 days.

Off and running. See you all later. Have a great day.

Is Robin's surgery today. OMG! where was the magic carpet. Sending you a hug.

Hi tgirl, nice to see you around.

ritajean, where in Illinois do you live? I grew up in Granite City (close to St. Louis). I now live in Springfield. Rolla is about half way between here and St. Louis.

    Happy Monday Marsha!

Nicki I hope you are feeling better. The job hunting thing will take care of itself. My new strategy is to apply for social security disability. The person my dh talked with at the office said I should be able to get it, at least for the last year, with all the surgeries I've had. That would be some money for a while. I'm 57 also. Too young to be old and too old to be young. I feel kinda caught in the middle. Well, if it wasn't for the cancer I think I would still be pretending to be young though. It's a hard place/time to be out job hunting.

Vickie, hope you are feeling better today.

Gina has a leaking expander which was to be replaced today - that is BEFORE the insurance company was giving her such a hard time and said the surgeon they approved and the reconstruction they approved - could now not be done by her PS. It is a mess. Not sure if it got solved for the scheduled surgery.

I must have missed something too. I thought Robin just saw the surgeon last week about reconstruction - she is already scheduled. I think I don't read carefully enough. That girl is moving fast these days!!!!!!!!

    Hi to all!

Have had a few minutes of the house to myself........see how I spend it!!! Miss you guys!

Son and Fiance went to scan a bunch of pictures they wanted for something for the wedding and Hubby went to his home away from home........Home Depot!!

I've only read back one page, so I have alot of catching up to do!!

Looks like I missed Charlene's and Shirley's Birthdays!! I'm sorry dear friends.......don't you know not to have surprise Birthdays when I'm gone???? Hope you both had great ones!

Deb: I'm not quite sure what is wrong with your sister..but I will keep her in my Prayers and thoughts. I did read "Canceritis by Proxy!" She does not have "it"....but I'm sure I know where your mind is going.

Vickie: I haven't read, but I see you didn't get the job you had wanted. I'm so sorry........but they are the one's losing out. The perfect job will come your way......feel better.

Robin: Did you have your surgery today? I've got to read back a bit.....I, for some reason thought it was the first week of Sept., and that you had to re-schedule. I'm ready for the Magic Carpet if'n you're on your way!

Dryer just buzzed, so off to get Hubby's work stuff out of there, cuz we all know I'm not about Ironing!

    Hi All,

Denise - heard about the tornado in Howell - isn't that near you? Was in Michigan getting Emily settled in to school and was worried about you.

Nicki - three and a half days without electricity - I would go bonkers as almost everything in my house is electric. Must have had major board withdrawal too. On my way to Michigan on Friday got stuck in a major traffic jam on 80/94 where the road was flooded. It took us three hours to go about three miles - it was crazy - got off at the first exit I could find. They were diverting all four lanes of traffic off at Indianapolis Blvd and then they got back on at Cline. What a mess. It was still like that going east yesterday when I was coming back. Was wondering if you made it to the wedding. It was probably best that you stayed home and rested. You will find another special occasion to wear your black dress. Funny story about your dog - if your dog is as scared of the vet as mine is - it probably scared whatever he had wrong with his paw right out of him LOL.

Vickie - sorry to hear you did not get the job you wanted. It is their loss. Hugs to you. How was dd cruise?

Robin - good for you - you need a day to yourself and your daughters need to give that to you. Good luck on Wednesday with your surgery.

Susan - I just hate job hunting. I think someone will come along who will value your experience and hire you.

Deb - Bobbi is in my prayers. Understand the canceritis by proxy thing. Unfortunately, now it is probably the first thing we think of when someone is sick.

Shirley and Charlene - Belated Happy Birthday - that Peanut butter cake sounds so good. So did the shopping and fancy schmancy restaurant.

I have not even started working yet today so had better get going or I may need to find a tin cup and a street corner LOL. So tired from the weekend - should have taken off today to rest. Will try to bbl.

Love and hugs to all from A to Z,
    Suz

    Good Morning,

Have so many posts to read.....

Spent the weekend cleaning house and working on another afghan....almost finished one...

Anyway, DH was on the computer most of the weekend....felt guilty because he knew I wanted to visit...came up with a plan for his and her laptops+new router.....they just love new gadgets....

Liz, sending warm thoughts and hugs your way…call if you need anything

Nicki, I knew you were having electrical problems....it is a pain to be without power....I hope you were able to save some of the items in your freezer. Susan, your post about finding a job reminds me of ME in 2002….I had not worked in 22 years and decided to go back to full time work (2 kids in college, 1 in private school is a great motivator)…anyway, it took me months to find a job. I was so down…then a DOOR OPENED and I found a job with the individual that I had worked for from 1975-1980-he believed in me and thought I could do the job. I know that the right JOB is out there for you…..You are going to be a wonderful employee… Chin up---

Z, loved the pictures and it sounds like you had a wonderful time

Elaine, please get better..it is a long flight to Europe. Have you seen a doctor? Can you get some meds to help you? wishing you the best

Guz/Sue-wishing you a great first day back at work

Suzfive, how are you? I remember reading about one of your children having some medical problems…..how is he doing now?

SheriH…you really are a wonderful teacher to have so much respect from the students….teachers can make such a difference in our children’s lives. Thank you….

Karen, how was the date? Time just races by us….I am glad you took some time to enjoy the evening with your DH

Charlene, did you get some rest? Little ones and bedtimes sometimes just don’t go together….the one thing I am happy about at this stage of my life is that I no longer have to wake kidlets up for school…….I don’t even want to count the number of times I said “Get Up…School Day”…

Jankay…you are so right….the weekends just FLY by…then-MONDAY

Odalys…..low cal donuts…..that is something to look forward to.

T-girl…..fishing for DH…..did you get to relax also? The water can be very relaxing (when it stays in the river banks…….and doesn’t flood like we are seeing on TV)

MB, I sure do miss your mountain……..yep everyone, I had a sweater ‘cause it was cool weather for this southern gal

Margaret, I absolutely love the area you are living in…..it is beautiful country (and not very far from the vineyards and winery factories)

Amy, good morning...know you are probably at work….Puppy update time?!?! They are probably growing….just love those puppy sounds..

Jan must have been busy this weekend…..she’ll probably post later

Need to get back to work (new girl they hired has the voice of honey-but blames all her mistakes on others….I have to REALLY WATCH HER…. And WON’T bail her out of a deadline again….geez-don’t need a co-worker like this)…..

Wonderful Monday wishes for all from A to Z

Good Morning Sisters and Brother Peter!

I sent my one and only baby boy off to High School - I cried. I couldn't help it, I didn't let him see me though.

    BBL - at work.

    Have a great Monday!

    Hi girls,

    Popping in at lunch time.

Suzfive - I am SO not patient in traffic. I would have gone bonkers going three miles in three hours!

Deb - ((HUGS)) to you and sister Bobbi.

Vickie - don't know what job you were hoping for, but sorry it didn't work out. It's their loss.

Susan, are there any openings in Springfield for blue rink tasters? I know for a fact you have experience in that field, and you could put me down for a reference. You're not wearing that party hat to interviews are you?

Going to actually leave the office for a bit today for lunch so better get out while I can!

    Hugs to all,
    Donna

Gosh Donna now that you mention it, I have been wearing the party hat. You don't think that could be it, do you???

I will take a picture and post it so everyone can appreciate this great fashionable hat.
