Jaz .. haha .. another good song to get moving too!  I found another article on that story but it's rather gruesome.  I cannot believe what some people will stoop to when it comes to money.

MB .. would love to come up, you're so kind!  Hugs back sweet lady!  Nooo, I Don't Love snow days  LOL

Good morning all, too many posts to go back and read so someone will have to supply me with Cliff notes.

Char, that is plain disgusting - tissue sold on the black market?

    Hi to all

Margaret ... yep, can you believe that?  It's terrible.  A lot of civil lawsuits are expected to come out of this.

Here's a news story I posted on the thread for CY .. don't know if it will help her but it may be helpful to other readers.  It's about a breast cancer survivor who started a patient advocacy foundation to help patients with insurance and financial issues:  http://www.cnn.com/2008/HEALTH/01/30/bg.paf.founder/index.html

    Char,

The FDA shutdown Biomedical Tissue Services in Feb. of 2006.  All tissue samples in their possession collected prior to that date were retained by the FDA.  So, unless you had Alloderm procurred from Biomedical prior to 2/3/2006, I don't think you have anything to worry about.

I copied this from the FDA.

FDA Orders Biomedical Tissue Services, Ltd., to Cease Manufacturing and to Retain Existing Inventories of Human Cells, Tissues and Cellular and Tissue-Based Products (HCT/Ps)

Also, I found a direct link to the Alloderm manufacturer and indicates the rigorous testing the tissue goes through before being distributed.

Good Morning.  Looks like there are more who need to be in the middle of the circle.  So much is going on with so many.

...Helen1 - the first person who reached out to me.  Thank you my friend.  I dont know what I would have done without you.  Such a warrior - diagnosed with mets from the onset almost 3 years ago.  Now new mets in the lungs.  And there you are still giving hope and support to others.  There is a special guardian angel watching over you.  Hope you feel the warmth and love from the light of the fire.

...Liz and your good friend.  Who is so ill right now, in ICU and coping with brain mets.  The fire is shining bright for you and your friend.

...Doris who is having a hard time right now.  Know that you are loved and a special angel is sending you warm thoughts and big hugs.  The circle will surrounds you and the light will keep you warm.

...Pam who is sitting in darkness.  Feel the warmth of the fire.  There are lit candes surrounding you my friend.  Pull your strength from the light.  Of course then start making those fried apple and peach pies.

To anyone who is going through treatment.  Come to the warmth of the fire.  Feel the peace.  We are here to support you.

Bren .. yep, I'm aware of all of that.  I researched Lifecell before I went with using their product.  I have no idea when the tissue for my Alloderm was procured but I would assume it was well after Biomedical shut down.  However, I think it was good information to many others who had surgical procedures before they did in case they are affected by it.  So what did you think of the patient advocacy foundation article?

So happy for the good news I'm reading this morning.  Candie and Jaz.  woohoo

Liz, would your friend want cards??

MB's masseuse was very good.  Just make sure that Neesie doesn't go in before you.  She falls asleep and doesn't leave and uses up all of the time.

Puppy congrats on the no smoking.

Susan:  Thanks for the tip.  Neesie, if you're there when I am, I get first dibs on the masseuse!!

Jaz:  Isn't that right?!  It really is scary.  We really put our trust in so many and you just never know.  Another thing that amazes me is the recent headlines about doctors and nurses not washing their hands properly or at all due to being distracted or plain arrogance, contributing to the estimated 1.7 million infections and 99,000 deaths each year from hospital acquired infections! I always knew you get sick from staying in a hospital but assumed it was just airborne germs from other patients.  Never imagined the healthcare staffers were making people sick by this simple lack of a basic hygiene practice, particularly important for healthcare workers.  Some hospitals hand washing compliance rates are as low as 20%.  Most average around 40%.  Patients are being urged to ask their healthworkers if they washed their hands in case they forgot to before allowing themselves to be treated by them!

    Char,

That was a great article about the Patient Advocate Foundation.  They had 5 pages of resources in Washington State.  Maybe the Foundation can offer some assistance to Cy.  Also, we can remind our Circle sisters of the Foundation set up by Charlie for donations to help cover Cy's medical expenses. These can be made at any Bank of America.

That's right Bren .. Anyone wishing to donate to help CY can go to any Bank of America location and donate directly to the "Cheryl Thomason Cancer Fund".  I posted about the foundation to Charlie on CY's prayer page as a possible option for helping her.  She may also be eligible for Medicaid which was suggested.

You know, my current pcp goes directly to the little sink in the room and washes his hands first thing when he comes in the room.  At first, I was taken aback since I've never had a doctor do that before.  But then I realized that he did it so that I would know that his hands had been washed.  Now, I rather like it and wish my other doctors would make that a practice.

Hey ladies...I have been busy and MIA a lot lately....but for good reasons :)  Life has just gotten more and more like it use to be...busy and hectic.  My kids are both cross country skiing and that keeps us hopping all over the area for ski meets.  High school has one on a lighted trail tonight and then the middle school has a big meet Saturday.  I am cooking for both the big team meals.  These kids can EAT!  Then Sunday is the superbowl with more FOOD.

I have been dieting and exercising, so I hope this doesn't throw me off track.

Does anyone know how to donate to Cy's fund on line?  We must be the only place on the planet that doesn't have a bank of america!  I tried calling their 800 number, but the woman there was NOT helpful.  She said I needed an account number and that they couldn't do anything with just the fund name.

OK...I am off to work.  I'll try and check back later :)

    Hugs to everyone

Well, back from my monthly port flush.  Gee whiz...one tiny little change on the insurance card and they make you refill out a boatload of paperwork.  What's up with that?

Its actually turned out to be quite a nice day here.  It is alot warmer than they predicted and the sun is out.  Now I want to go outside and play.

    Neesie -- I believe you!  ;)

Deb:  Liz will be talking to Charlie this evening and I asked her to ask about the fund and your being told you need an account number.  What I posted is all that Charlie told us we needed on the prayer thread.  Wow, your life is always sounding amazingly fun and Busy!  That's a lot of cooking to do!  Enjoy the weekend!

Neesie:  haha .. Okay, your story Does sound plausible lol

Jasmine:  did they wash their hands first?  lol  Go outside and play ... oh c'mon spring, that sounds like fun!

I have an exciting new purchase story - we got our tax refund and Karl went out and purchased a new 42" plasma television!  This is going in the living room.  The kids will get the 27" projection TV we've been using in the play room we're setting up.  After the year we've had we decided we deserved this!  Woo hoo, can't wait to watch the big game on it on Sunday!

Thank you Jas! Laughing I'm so excited.  The first thing Karl did was put in The Last Samurai movie ... wow, the picture sure is nice, clear and big!  We thought about putting it on the wall but didn't because this old farm house has plaster walls and I'm afraid it might fall off.   But it takes up very little room on it's stand on the floor!

Wow. You folks think a doctor washing his hands before he examines you is surprising? All the doctors here do that. And when they are done washing their hands, they use purell after they dry up.

I thought that was the norm.Surprised

I sure am glad I live where I do!

Puppy good for you for not smoking. I never smoked, but I do believe there is a time frame that you have to get past where the worst of the cravings are over- sounds like you reached it.

Neesie, I did something like that once too. LOL

I sure hope with money being so tight for everyone that we can help out our dear Cy. Bren, you have done incredible work getting that fund set up.

It is pouring rain here- if the temps were just a couple of degrees colder it would be snow.

We haven't had any snow this year at all. That is too bad. Snow is actually very good for roses.

    Stay warm everybody!!!

Angel -- I thought about hanging mine to but decided I would rather be able to move it from room to room.  The TV in my computer room is going out so I might eventually get a larger TV for my sitting room and move this one to the computer room.

I have had a wonderful day.  Final total for snow in Chicago was 12 inches.  So I just stayed home, spent time on the computer and worked on some special squares for the afghan project.  It really does warm ones heart when you are sitting here crocheting, knowing it will be part of a big hug for someone who is suffering.

Gina:  You must be tired after your long day.  Hoping RADS went well.  You are lucky you just got rain.  Did you see Vickies pictures of the ice on her windows?  Lots of snow here, but I felt like a kid who got a snow day.  Such fun.

Candie:  I missed your post about going on vacation.  I hope you have a wonderful time.  I went to the chat today and really enjoyed myself.  Yes, I was late - actually I was like a child in a candy store.  There were so many places to go here on bco.  So many to talk to and share feelings and ideas.  Now that its the week-end I will try to post some sunshine.

Puppy:  You did it.  You really did it.  Congratulations on quitting smoking.  Sending a big hug your way.

PurpleMB:  I have only had a massage once in my life.  I was in Ft. Lauderdale with a good friend and we were at a spa.  It was wonderful.  I love all the scents, candles, and aroma therapy they use too.  I may just treat myself to one for my 58th birthday.

Margo:  Its good to see a post from you.  Im hoping all is well with you and your sister.  Wishing good results on her test.

Bren:  You always amaze me.  Your always doing so many things for others.  Im watching what you are doing with the March on Washington and hoping I can be part of it.

Susan:  You are so right.  Its really important to recognize the good things that are happening too. It just seems like its been a hard 3 months with some of our sisters and their families.  I always did like the concept of putting them in the middle of the circle for love and comfort.

DebC:  Ha Ha your life always sounds busy to me.  I do love the diet and exercising.  Im getting there slow but sure.  Sure do miss you when you dont post though.

Neese:  As always, you make me giggle.  Glad your storm wasnt too bad.  Calling your mom had to be much worse than me calling my administrator.

Vickster:  Now no tricks up your sleeve tomorrow morning.  My DH is getting tired of them.Cool

Liz:  You are such a good friend to so many people.  You really do give from your heart.  When you talk to Charlies please tell her to tell CY I love her.

Well, Im tired.  Its time to watch some television.  Entertainment tonight is having a special on Farrah Faucet.  She is really fighting a battle with her cancer.  She now has mets to her liver and she is in Germany getting surgery that is only done there.  So I want to see what the surgery is and what her treatment plans are.

Remember to live everyday to its fullest.

    Good night and be well

Nicki, sis had a transvaginal ultrasound today so we'll see what happens.

Char, didn't you have one recently too?  My best friend turns 50 this year so she was talking about her birthday - the four of us who went to Las Vegas in July will go someplace - Susie says she can't fly, doesn't want a massage, she doesn't drink, so I think we'll go on a cruise to Mexico.

We received from devastating news from Charlie tonight about our dear Cy.

It is so sad. Cy was one of the kindest, sweetest people I have ever met.

It is for times like these that this thread was created. It was created because we needed a place to go when we had nowhere else to go with our pain and fear and sadness... it was also created so that people who were scared and hurting could feel safe and loved. We have suffered another loss in what the Circle has devolved into now: NOTHING like what it was meant to be...nothing even close to what it represented.

To the genuine women who have tried so hard to keep the Wagon Circle what it was, thank you- we have tried... tried very, very hard. Unfortunately it went from being a Circle to a line- a front line.

Circle Girls, you know who you are, let us pull our wagons up close and gently keep Cy in the center near the biggest and warmest fire we have.

The rest of what is happening here - well all I can say is I hope this puts some perspective on what is really important in life and on a breast cancer support board. The utter nonsense has done nothing but hurt those who need us the most.

Cy, we love you and hold you close. Charlie, you are right here with us. I tried to put Cy's video tribute up here again but for some reason BCO won't let it link. If you PM me your email, I will send you it directly.

"good things happen to good people"- I don't think so. Cy was the best of all of us... she is the embodiment of good. And what is happening to her is unfair, horrible and heartbreaking.

True Circle Girls, you are very, very special people. And I know that Cy feels your love.

May God watch over you Cy. May you feel Him by your side, when you need him the most.

With a very heavy heart at this sad time,

Couldn't sleep and got up to take a fast check in and saw the terrible horrible news about our sweet darling Cheryl.

Words cannot express the sadness over this news...news that we prayed we would not have to hear.  News that is not fair...not right...

Such heartache...blessed to have met her...blessed to have shared time with her...Nate has her picture on his bedroom wall along with the wonderful blanket she sent...this is so very sad.

It would be nice to see the circle actually gathering around our dear friend at this time.  With love, hugs, prayers and everything she needs.

dear Lord please keep our Cheryl safe in your arms...hold her close and keep her calm...protect the family and the friends who's hearts are breaking.

back to bed with a heavy heart...maybe this will open some eyes to what the circle is about.  It could be any one of us...and I personally pray daily that it isn't...for all from A to Z.
