mdg....I have had all l types of digestive problems and was told that I was gluten sensitive. I have gone gluten free and feel so much better. I have cheated a few times while we have been down here and my body let me know that it didn't like the reintroduction to gluten. I also took magnesium and calcium when my feet hurt so bad from the Arimidex. That helped at that point too.

Hi momto7. So glad to hear that all is well with you and thanks for popping in. You have been missed!

    mdg,

    Great news!

I stay away from gluten on most days. I think it has helped with aches and pain. It makes a huge difference with stomach bloating when I avoid it. My mom and sisters are fairly strict with not consuming gluten and have found a variety of health issues disappear. The irony is that we were raised on a wheat farm, a major producer of gluten. I have a friend with recently diagnosed RM and going gluten free has helped her pain also.

No doubt we would all agree with the sentiment:  “There’s more to life than things.”  Yet much of our lives seem to be spent in the acquisition, maintenance, and disposal of material goods.  Certainly we cannot enjoy the basics of food, shelter, and clothing without a concern for things.  The truly important things of life, however, are those which cannot be encountered by the physical senses, purchased with money, or placed on a shelf.  When we take a look at what we value most in life, we generally find family, friends, health, peace, contentment, laughter, helping others, and communion with God foremost on our list of priorities.

Redheaded1- Well that is the pits! Hopefully your surgeon has good news for you. Is it your dominant hand? Take care of yourself.

    We need spring already!

“Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres... And now these three remain: faith hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.” —Bible (I Corinthians 13:4-7, 13)

surgery update--M on 11:00 am--radius and ulna both--the y lay flat in your wrist and I forced them vertical, then backwards (up and bac)  so they have to put a plate and pins/screws in. which will remain 4-ever.   8 weeks in cast, then minimum of 8 weeks p,t. and should get 60-70% FUNCTION BACK===he said I will be able to do most things, but some I will learn to do differently and there are other yimes I will have pain that reminds me to think about what I am trying to do.  did say he thoughy bowling and sewing and keyboarding would evenyally be o.k.

the little dog I was trying to find when I fell was caught in a humane trap sey by animal control yesterday.  he had done what I thought. followed a creek bed near the park, clear out to the 74/55 exchange west of townclearly cany type one handed yet

    Redhead-

So sorry to hear you took a tumble and broke your wrist. Your surgery and recovery sound involved. Praying the surgery goes smoothly and that you find just the right physical therapist to work you hard and encourage you along the way. Hugs.

Over the years I have come to believe that life is full of unchosen circumstances, that being human has to do with the evolution of our individual consciousness and with it, responsibilities for choice.  Pain and joy both come with life.  I believe that how we respond to what happens to us and around us shapes who we become and has to do with the psyche or the soul’s growth.  -Jean Shinoda Bolen

Morning ladies! Redhead-hope your surgery went well and you are home recovering with minimal pain. Lots of healing vibes headed your way!

Yesterday was doctor day for me. Saw my breast surgeon first, she asked me how I was and man was that a loaded question ha ha! She listened to all my concerns, even called my onc who I was seeing afterwards to make sure he knew how I was doing...anyway time for bilateral mammo and U/S...she feels something concerning on my leftie and I have pain on outside of rib/breast on the right one. Then onto the onc, he is scheduling me for a CT scan of my lower back-been having pretty severe pain for a while, hopefully  just arthur and nothing more sinister. But, my labs were better, tumor markers down so that is good. He and I talked about my risk of stopping the tamoxifen and it is just too high so I will soldier through...really hate the way I feel, so very tired all the time and so tired of being in pain. Sorry for the long whine this morning, but I need to vent.

Wishing you all pain free, peaceful days. Stay warm!

Deep in the soul, below pain, below all the distraction of life, is a silence vast and grand--an infinite ocean of calm, which nothing can disturb; nature's own exceeding peace, which "passes understanding."  That which we seek with passionate longing, here and there, upward and outward; we find at last within ourselves.

    Mimi,

This is the place to rant and let it all out.  This has probably been mentioned numerous times, but is there no other five yr. pill you might switch too.  Then again, sometimes little changes ( when you take your pill ) or if generic, can make a difference.  Just some thoughts for you to explore when you feel like it.  Hoping just arthritis is your answer too.  Who'd thought, huh !!!

    Hello Illini Ladies,

Does anyone know of a good oncologist affiliated with the University of Chicago?

Thanks and best of wishes/hugs to us all!

Hi, I have had 2 appointments with Dr. Grace Suh at University of Chicago. I see her at their New Lenox location because it is easier for me to get to. So far, I have used her as a second opinion. She is the doctor that recommended I do 12 weeks of Taxol rather than the same amount of Taxol in 8 weeks. I have been seriously considering switching to her to be my oncologist. I've been unhappy with my current oncologist (not affiliated with University of Chicago) for some time. Dr. Suh was very nice. Good luck.Let me know if you go to Dr. Suh or another oncologist, since I am also looking for a recommendation.

Are you balanced?  Do you share your time, your energy, your life, as much
with yourself as you do with those around you?. . . . Know your limits.
You are one of the most important people you need to look after and love.
Balance your time, your energy, your life with those around you.  You'll be able
to give more freely and joyfully as a result, and you'll be more open to the
gifts of the universe.  It's not wrong to give to others.
But it's okay to say yes to ourselves, too.

Marie715 make the switch. Go with who you feel more comfortable with. U of Chicago is ranked 31 nationally (that's pretty high) in cancer. That might be the highest for cancer in Illinois linky
