Went through, but previous tries no luck.
Hoping for the best tomorrow, but ready for anything. I have trouble believing in the drastic change because today is so great! I heard we have had over 50 inches of the white stuff this year so far. Some of it is still in my yard!
Hoping to meet you Karin, and others too.

Sabrina, it sounds like you had a wonderful time at your support group. Yes, cancer does not discriminate against age, color, race, gender or religion. Ironically, it has an incredible way of overlooking all the above.

Well, Sabrina - that stinks about your previous employer. It's hard when people let us down. Good luck with your interview and I hope you guys make it to WI! Glad you had fun at your support group.
I agree Pat - it is too nice out there right now to believe that we will be getting so much snow tomorrow - but they are still saying that it's coming.
Wendy - I picked up that Garnier stuff from Walmart at lunch today. So, we will see if it can do anything with my curly mohawk. Otherwise, I will see if I can get something done with it next week at the hair salon.

Sabrina...I think it's very tough when friends let us down. I wish you luck in court. We are all sisters, and I'm glad you enjoyed your support group. I went to lunch with this Il group, and they were so welcoming and supportive that I immediately felt comfortable. I was the oldest, and they are talking about wrinkles! I know from wrinkles, believe me, and I've earned them all. I can't wait to meet you at one of our gatherings.
Connie.....I got a hair cut in spite of how little hair I had, and the shaping of it made a world of difference. So do try the gel as I think you would look great with a spikey do, but don't be afraid to go in for a little cut either. It's really just to get a shape to it so it looks like a style. I kept my appointment in spite of big snow last year on Valentine's day. Had to shovel the driveway, but it was so worth it!

Checking in very quickly. I'm finally feeling much better, in recovery from that flu. My goodness, that was a nasty bug!
I'm going to try to come to the lunch no matter what- unless you all decide to cancel it completely- I'm hoping that the snow will be spread out enough for the plows to handle it. I can't come next week Friday, as I will be flying to Belize!
PS- is anyone going to the Day of Sharing?? It was awesome last year, and this year, I'm a model!

Hi gals!
Sharon...HUGS TO YOU ACROSS THE MILES! I'm sending good vibes and prayers your way. Wendy did have a good idea about ravdeb. She was originally from the Chicago area and moved to Israel in the late 1980's I think. She posted on the very first page of this thread so you could always click on her avatar and send her a PM. She is probably very familar with the medical field over there and might be a good source of info and companionship to you. We will always continue to be here for you, too!
Connie...you're sounding like yourself again. So glad you're improving with leaps and bounds.
Ginny...when will you be back from your Easter excursion?
I still find it hard to believe that snow is on the way to your area. This is really a nasty joke that mother nature is playing. There are walkers out on the golf course today! My iris are peaking through and those green shoots look so good. We're due for Spring!
Jackie...thanks for the recipe. I really figured your salad had grapes in it...for the frog eyes! I love pineapple, though and will certainly give this a try. It sounds very interesting.
I've been doing laundry and ironing nearly all day off and on. I have everything ready to plop in the suitcases. You're right Wendy! I finally ran into town for some last minute shopping and have been pacing around wondering what I should next! LOL
I do hope that your lunch plans are a GO for tomorrow. I will miss being with all of you but will be there in spirit. Have fun! Post pictures! I'll catch up with you on my laptop.
Rita

Jan..we were posting at the same time. I'm so glad that you're feeling better. You'll be in good shape now for your Belize excursion! Can you capture some pictures again of you as a model for those of us who won't be able to make it?
So good to hear that you're on the mend!
Take care...
Rita

JanClare-what and when is Day of Sharing?

Happy Spring???? 6.1 inches expected out here in Elgin area, coming in the morning.
I will, unless the storm turns or something, NOT be coming to the lunch. DH has an appt. out near DeKalb and I would want him to take the 4WD if he has to go out there. I don't mind like I said, driving in snow, but that much??? No thanks! I have a feeling that about half of us would not be coming. So....NancyLa...keep checking with Blackjack as she holds the reservation.
JanClare...so glad you are feeling so much better. You are so cute in your avatar!
Sabrina...some friend! Hope she enjoyed YOUR vacation. And I wish for you a lovely weekend away with your family. Hope the snow doesn't mess that up for you guys.
Connie...so? How is the spikey look for you? You're so young and cute anything will look good on you! Even bald! OK...couldn't resist that remark. My bad! But I hope you laughed....
Keeping my fingers crossed that the weathman (ALL of them?) was wrong and I will see you all tomorrow....
Or.....I won't as I will be......

Wonderful to read todays posts. I am still working back and forth between the two computers. BIL was here most of the afternoon and I was able to get the majority of the really good things I wanted to transfer to the new pc. Unfortunately since we didn't have an address for my server.....we couldn't totally complete the operation....but once that is in......I should be back in business and on the new pc full time.
Sabrina....I had to study that AA that was in your note for some time and wondered if I would have to ask you what it meant. Finally came to me---African American......I guess I see you more as a human being, one of Gods children and an American. But it's ok.....sometimes lately I have been really slow.
Hope you all can get together for lunch, but it really does sound pretty dicey, doesn't it????? Maybe we had better have a planes leaving nearly on time fairy or something.
Connie....glad things are so good for you at the moment. Do try the recipe....it's easy to make.....and fun to get peoples reactions with the name.
Well, I will get back to a bit more work on this thing while I'm able.
Dh will get home from work....thinks he knows where the ISP address may be lurking on this machine so we will see what happens later.

Hi Girls,
I really hope the snow blows over, I'm so looking forward to seeing all of you.
Sharon, I spend alot of time boasting about my friend in Jeruselem who is doing such wonderful work. Thank you, I'm very proud to have a friend like you. I believe everthing will be ok with the BAD GIRLS, try taking it easy for a couple of days.
JanClair..where and when I'm there.
Nancy La.. is it ok if my daughter and I join your group. We'll be first timers.
I'll be having my surgery on Tuesday. I hope to see all that can make it tomorrow.
Everyone else, thanks for all your friendships, I am truly blessed
Love
Leesa

Luncheon
I'm on for lunch, i have my old 97 4 wheel drive i have not traded in yet!!
Wendy, i can pick you up if you want, ...but change of plans, I cant stay 4 hours because my CAT needs to be picked up in Maple Park by 5 p.m.!!
Long story short, 1 am this morning he fell or jumped off the beam in my living room and managed to land on a fishing lure, two of three hooks imbedded in his tummy, my Mom and caregiver came over and got the hooks out but he had surgery today, so far so good and stitches..and they wanted to watch him til friday at noon....this is my "Munchkin" the only living cat that i bottle fed in my cat career (his 2 brothers died).
I would be glad to pick you up, Wendy....and i feel badly that we would miss teddy bear..so, there could be a plan for elgin near teddy bear too, if that is where she is at, for people closest???
I hate to have her not do anything with any of us! JoAnna might even be able to make something if it's in Elgin...maybe..
Just some thoughts.
I guess we'll all be logging on in the morning!!

Wendy,
Thanks for the information about ravdeb. I already contacted her and received a nice letter about doctors here. Will keep you informed.
Our weather is 60-70 degrees here with bright sunshine all day long. We are driving into Tel Aviv today to go to IKEA. Yes, they have one in Tel Aviv with the same exact merchandise like in Chicago.
Wish I could be in on the lunch group.
Bye for now

Okay- I'm off to work and so far no snow- but it's supposed to start here around 6 am. I'll be coming home at 11 am, so please post here if the lunch is canceled and I'll read it before I leave.

Hi gals....
I hope the snow holds off so you can hold the luncheon. Our rain is suppose to start in a couple of hours and continue all day but right now it's clear out there.
Sharon, I'm so glad you contacted ravdeb and so glad that Wendy remembered about her. You can never have too many friends! Thinking about you and continuing to send good vibes your way!
Kater, I hope kitty's surgery corrects the problem. I was a mess when my cat had a lump removed two years ago (but hey, I'm a mess most of the time! LOL) He did well but just wasn't the model patient.
Have fun at lunch today gals! I do wish I was able to join you! Have a great Easter and post pictures of the day!

Happy Midwestern Spring! Well...it wasn't too bad at all around 4:45 and then I went back to bed. Got up at 6 and we have 1 1/2 of snow, ice, slush mix and is snowing like crazy. SUV is covered with a shell of ice and sidewalk is too slippery to even check for the paper. They are now saying the heaviest will come down starting around mid-morning and continue thru the afternoon. So girls...that does it for me. I will be staying home and handing the 4WD over to Tom for his trip. Personally....I think to be on the safe side for EVERYONE...we should cancel the lunch and move it to another day. But that's just me. The roads might be fine going there, but who knows about going home.
Kater...thanks for the offer of a pick-up but I am staying home as I am in charge of the snowblower...Tom doesn't know how to get it up and running and I totally ran out of patience trying to explain it all to him last month.
Karin...all I am hearing is the cancellation of so many flights. Can you get out this morning???? I am so sorry I won't get a chance to meet you but drivng around in 5-11 inches of snow and ice is not my idea of a good time.
Sabrina....omg!!! Jackie told me about AA and African-American. I thought...and now I know for sure I have no brain cells left...well, I was thinking...this poor girl...bc, mastectomy, chemo and she is an alcoholic!!! You know...AA??? Good grief!!!! Again, my bad!
Sharon...sunny and warm???? Can we all come to your house for lunch? Glad Ravdeb has been in contact with you...that is so totally great to be in touch with a tough Ill gal!
Leesa....so, surgery is next Tuesday? Good!!! Where are you having it done??? I won't see you today so for Rita and I...here's a BIG HUG!
Smef...guess I don't get to meet you today! Bummer.....
Rita...safe travels today and have an absolutely wonderful family weekend!
Jackie....how are you feeling today? How's the weather by you? Any flowers shooting up?
Can't believe how hard it is snowing...and they just called it "heart attack" snow...oh goody! I'm off for my second cuppa...maybe I should just dump in a couple of shots of Jameson and call it a day!

Happy first day of spring????? Not to bad here only about 1 or 2 inches on the ground. BUT still snowing!!! I'm just going to "play it by ear" If it doesn't start snowing harder it should be just fine. I just HAVE to be @ Midway by 6 PM. Most reports say that as of now there shouldn't even be any delays..... So I'll start heading that way by 10:30 or so, Then I should have no problems meeting in Schaumburg for lunch. I may not say long, I'll just feel better if I'm @ the airport early...... I do have my list of phone # so I can call if I need to.

I have something wonderful to celebrate today. My got a call late last night that my dearly loved cousin was getting a kidney transplant! I'm so happy I could dance! She is in Arizona, or I would be going to the hospital, so I'm coming to lunch instead. Looking forward to meeting you all and reconnecting with others.
Smerf
PS Thank God for this great country, because my cousin is 70, and that would be too old to qualify in other places.

Forgive me for butting in, but I figured this thread is a good place to ask my question.
First of all, have a great lunch.
Second, I'm in Des Plaines. I just had a stereotactic biopsy that came back benign thankfully, but I wanted to ask if some of you ladies could share where you go for treatment. I was recently at Glenbrook Hospital's breast center in Glenview, and though I did okay, I'm not entirely sure I want to go back to them. I guess I just feel the need to look around and see what my options are in the event I have another funky mammogram in the future. Perhaps GBH is the place to be, but I figured looking around can't hurt.
I'm close to Lutheran General in Park Ridge and just read they have a breast surgeon on staff who actually had breast cancer (can't get more empathetic than that, eh?). Any experiences there? I welcome any and all suggestions. Hope I'm not prying!
Thanks so much and enjoy your day!

Hi Wendy, Hi Rita, Hi Jackie, Hi Susan, Hi Sharon - and anyone else I missed that is not at lunch! We just got a dusting here, but I just looked at the radar and it looks like the heavy stuff is about to start any minute. Hope you lunch ladies make it ok!
Yes, I laughed when you said I would look cute bald, Wendy. I looked ok, but I sure looked like an alien when I lost the eyebrows and lashes. Didn't have much luck with that gel. I felt like I looked more like Richard Simmons than a cute spikey do. My son looked at me like I was crazy and begged me to wear my hat when I ran out for donuts for him and his friend (sleepover). Ha. After I put the hat on and it mashed down a bit, it doesn't look too bad. If DH gets home early, I'm heading to get a trim!
Making hard boiled eggs today. We always spend Good Friday with some friends of ours and the kids color their eggs. So, they are looking forward to that.
Have a safe trip, Rita!
Bye for now!

Welcome, laughingwater (love that name) -
You are not butting in or prying! You won't find a better group of ladies who are happy to help however they can. I'm in Aurora so I'm a bit of a hike from you (but I work in Niles!) so can't help much with a treatment facility (I go to Edward Hospital).
I'm sure some of the gals from your area will respond after their 4 hour lunch!
Glad to hear your biopsy was benign!
