Morning...almost time to go feed the livestock....Baby Boss is on here trying to entice me out of my chair....he's not spoiled though, heaven forbid.

Anyway....no rain today--just gloomy.  We have so much water around here.

Met out new neighbors a couple of days ago.  They are nice.  Have a little Taco Bell dog--can't spell that well enough to get it from the spell checker even.  They seem very nice so I think we will do ok with them.

Well, I need to get up from here but will be back after work.

    See you then.

    Hi All,

Without going back over the thread for the past week, I hope you are all well.  I have had a really busy week.  Rads are going ok.  I am getting REALLY red and a little sore, but nothing I can not handle.

If anyone wants to join my team for the Y-Me walk on Mothers Day please sign up on my site before April 10, so we can get everything mailed to me for distribution.  After that date, you will need to register on your own and go early the morning of the walk to pick up your number and stuff....

Who is going to the Day of Sharing on April 13?

Well, gotta go to have rad # 24 with 1 more regular one and then 9 days of boosts.  I can see light at the end of the tunnel.Laughing

Good for you Nancy.  I'm envious....but then I'm envious of everyone who is done or almost done.  We do post a lot  here and it is very hard to keep up if you miss more than one day.  I have been pretty fortunate to keep up.

    Have a god day.

All right Nancy!  You're on the downhill slide now with those rads!  You can see the end!

I wish I could come up for the Day of Sharing but we have other plans so I'm out again for this one.  One of these times.........

    Well, I'm off again.

    TGIF, Ladies!

Nancy, I know about the rads. I was burned, but got through it with these gel pads that you put in the freezer, then tape to your underarm (that is where I was burnt the worse.  I put those gel pads on, and man, it was like heaven...well, at least it was a short respite from hell.  From your post it sounds like your rads are not as noxious to the skin as mine.

Okay, ladies, (SHHHHHHH!).  I am planning a surprise b-day party for my husband and I am a nervous wreck doing it, in a fun sort of way.  He is turning 60.  I had so much fun bowling with the faculty that I am organizing a bowling party with friends and family.  Unlike Rita and a few other ladies, we are not good bowlers.  We stink in fact.  So he wil be initially aghast that I did this and then, I hope, delighted that I did.

Wendy, you sound like you have so many adventures without even leaving the neighborhood.  You are one fun lady!

Wherefore art thou, Julie(tte) and Kater?

Rita, my school does Science Olympiad and we do that tomorrow (Regional) and we won State last year!  Are you aware of the program?

Laura, how is the foot and the new job?

Jackie, I love (and need) the daily inspirational messages.

Leesa and friends, keep getting stronger.

Sarbina and Rita:  I admire you for even agreeing to work with adolescents in a service project type of situation.  I  can only deal with kids by having them in MY classroom, with MY rules, facing MY consequences.  I actually LOVE teaching adolescents as they are so real.  They get things!  Yet they are so "goofy" that you need to set the limits right away.  They need parameters and the classroom in a traditional  school supports you on that.  Stay with your youth groups, but don't take these kids personally or you will shrivel up in frustration.

So this was long-winded.  Have a great weekend!

Well...that was interesting!  My computer froze as I tried to submit my post so of course I lost it and now I am out of time!

Going to near 68 today....wow!  Maybe I should turn on the AC????

Everybody...have a wonderful day!  I'll check in later after the kids go home, if I am not too exhausted.

Susan-saw your post on the party. My DH turns 50 in May and I'm trying to decide how to celebrate. When is your bowling party - sounds like a fun idea.

Wendy-Enjoy this great weather with the kids-tire them out, or will it be you that's tired?

Jackie-Have you posted a picture of Baby Boss, or did I miss it?

Has Baby Boss met the Taco Bell dog?

Leesa- Hope you are feeling better.

    Hugs,

It's a beautiful morning here.  Our last rain was not as prolific as the weather people thought ( thank goodness ) so its helping today be much nicer.  There is just green everywhere you look and I've noticed ( just as in years past ) little clumps of grass already taller than that surrounding it.  Well, we always have to mow sooner for the trimmed effect on our lawn.

Tomorrow temps will be even nicer....and Dh is home so maybe we can get a few things done here.  Or I can at least cheer him on as he does them.

Well, on with my day.....and Wendy..I feel a little cheated you didn't get your post on.  I have not had a bit of trouble ( yet ) with the Vista Home Premium that this new pc has.  Course as I mentioned...I don't do much with it, but my BIL Dave does a lot with his and his new one is a Vista as well. He does all his banking on line and seems to not have anything for complaints.  Not trying to talk anyone into a Vista.....there are still a few places where you can get an XP, but I'm thinking....depending on what you use your computer for...it may be ok now.

Ok, nuff' of that...I'm not selling anything....just thinking out loud guess you might say.

Ya'll have a great, pretty, dry day and I'll be back to see you later.

Mich....I was posting while you were.  Yes, Boss did meet the Taco Bell Dog whose name is Chip.  Chip was much smaller that Boss.  They were hilarious.  As you know....all dogs sniff each others private parts as it's a means of identification for them and they learn a lot about each other---things we don't even think about...like what has recently been eaten, boy or girl of course, energy level...just so much.  At any rate.........as they are trying to accomplish this...since there was a difference in size.....they both end up trying to circle each other...which they did....they just kept  going round and round in a circle---several times.  Then would stop for a bit and then start all over.  You'd have had to be here to see how hilarious it really was.  All four of us were laughing like crazy.

And....nope, you didn't miss the picture....maybe I'll make that one of Sunday's projects for Denny.  To try installing pictures on my pc so I can share.

    Be back later.

I'm baaaaaaaaack!!!!  Muppets won't be here for about an hour...they are running late.

It is so nice out!  I brought up the chairs yesterday and I just filled up my fountain and plugged it in.  OK...it's not really a fountain, more like 2 barrels but it still sounds nice!

Nancy....you are almost finished then you get to join the RadGrad Club.  I thought I had a lot of boosts at 8, but you are having 9!  Sounds like your skin is doing okay tho.  Can't make 4/13 as it is a family BD party.

I can't remember who felt a bit "b**chy" on rads....if you tell me, I will PM you a little graphic I found.  I didn't want to just post it as it uses the "B" word over and over...and I don't want to offend anyone.  It's really funny and not nasty, but then...you never know.

Jackie..was just reading the paper...and I now know how to spell chihuahua!!!!  Think Chicago (that's the chi) and then think Hawaii and hula, minus l's (that's the hua-hua).  There you go!!!!

Susan...yep, I do have daily adventures.  Garbage can minus its wheel still sitting in the driveway along with my ruined lawn despite 4 phone calls.  New neighbors will be interesting as this am I sat here in my FR, watching her pick up some garbage that had blown on her back lawn, only to actually watch her.....throw it on mine.  And then she saw me watching her from the window, waved...and didn't pick it up.  This is the same gal who got huffy when I wouldn't hurry up and snowblow the driveway - it's the sister and I think she is just here, helping for a few weeks.  If she moves in, I'm putting up a big, honking fence.

Rita...what's up for you this weekend?  Re-paving the Great Wall of China perhaps????  If the sun is out by you...take that car out and DROP THE TOP!  I can't use the Z today as of course it doesn't have a back seat and I have the kiddos.  Maybe tomorrow tho.

Leesa....please check in.  What's next for you?  Need anything?

Nicki, calling Nicki......c'mon!  I need to steal more graphics.....

Read a post on another thread this AM which REALLY irked me...a poor girl with Stage IV and a single Mom with kids who she is taking care of JUST FINE...well, her ex is taking her to court to reverse the custody as he is telling everyone that she is unable to care for them.  I know there are 2 sides to every story, but I believe her side.  That just stinks....hope the judge is a woman and a bc survivor...and she takes him apart, piece by little tiny piece.

OK...I've bored you enough.  Everybody...get out and enjoy this wonderful weather...you know, before it snows again!

    HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!

Happy Saturday everyone! Sorry I've been MIA....LONG week. Ended up in Dr's office for morphine shot on Wednesday..Worst migraine I've had in over 20 years!!! Gotta love the drugs!

YEA Nancyla Your almost there! How many walkers do you have on your team?

Wendy  sounds like you have neighbors like mine across the street. DH & I were "pretending summer" sitting out front in the sun just relaxing.....Kept hearing weird noise coming from across the street, sounded like air compressor or something. Neighbor came out w/ several area rugs he throws in front lawn (yes it's very wet grass) He opens front door & we hear compressor again this time there is a cloud of dust coming out front door!!!!! OMG He is cleaning house using the air compressor!!! Blowing all the dirt out the door!!! LOL No he's not a bachelor, wife 3 teenage kids 3 dogs and 5 cats! When the clean out the car it's all thrown into front yard!Nice enough people but.....

Mich101 are you all healed yet?

I better get back to work am just taking a break from spring cleaning EVERYTHING!! Donation box is getting very big

One last thing are chemo stuff like baby stuff? When you get rid of the last thing you end up pregnant?LOL

Karin, that last line is so funny.  I have my wig (lovely wig, but I detested it) in a hat box very, very, high on a closet shelf.  I would love to toss it, or donate it, but I cannot bring myself to do that.....yet!

    Wendy, sent you a pm.

Michelle, the bowling place is really funny.  It is like one you would find about 60 years ago in a very small town, with only about 8 lanes.  Very funky!  We can bring our own food and beer!  It is so funky that the automatic pin thing breaks down and this kid has to do it manually.  It is well-suited for us and our talents.  I need to get him a wild and wacky bowling shirt?  Any ideas where I could get one?

    Great day out.  Enjoy!

Hello everyone,  happy sunshiney Saturday.  I am glad everyone is doing ok.  Nancy just hang in there on the rads.  I didn't have to take them but I can just imagine the pain that goes along with it.  Well yesterday we got some bad news.  My sis-in-law was dx with pancreatic and liver cancer.  They didn't want to call and tell us but dh's mother finally called.  I have heard that pancreatic cancer is one of the worse ones to have but I don't know much about it.  But I think they say it is inoperatable.  My sis-inlaw is in high spirits also they started her on chemo yesterday.  And she is already talking about shaving her head.  Just keep Elizabeth in your prayers.

I started taking my tamoxifen.  I read the side effects and on the bottle it says to wash hand after taking and pregnant women to not inhale the powder from the pills.  What in the heck am I taking.  Strokes, blood clots, tumors etc.  I have to take this stuff for five years.  If cancer didn't kill me heck this stuff could.

Well all I am thinking about fireing up the bbq grill.  It is so beautiful outside.  Just might just relax on the deck and chill out.  Soak up some sun to get my vitamin D.

     Have a good weekend everyone

    Hey ladies,

We've been witing for a day just like today!  What a beauty! We played 18 holes of golf and came home to regroup.  We're playing Bunco at the club tonight. It should be fun!  Then it's church and a ride to Springfield tomorrow to visit Dave's mom.  Unfortunately there's been little change there.

Just have to share this story with you gals.  Last week I got a PM from a gal who asked if my maiden name was Madsen (which it was).  She said that if it was, I was her cousin.  Wow!  I haven't seen her since I was probably in high school.  She had made the connection between the ritajean and the blond hair and had just taken a chance.  Unfortunately, that meant that both of us had bc.  She starts her chemo on Tuesday.  Isn't it amazing how the Internet has changed the world?  Anyway, we've reconnected and relearned about each other's immediate families.  I was so excited and shocked to hear from her.

Wendy, today would have been a good day to sail around with the top down but I didn't even get the car out of the garage.  Tomorrow is supposed to be even nicer here!  Hope you are enjoying your young ones!

Well I need to be sure we have something appropriate ready to wear tonight so I'd better get off here and get busy.  Karin and Sabrina....good to hear from both of you.  I will keep Elizabeth in my prayers, Sabrina.

Catch you all later.  Enjoy the sunshine!

Sabrina-So sorry to hear about Elizabeth. I will keep her in my prayers.

Rita- Does your cousin live in Illinois?

Karin-Actually this exchange surgery was very uneventful, thankfully. Also very little discomfort. I was outside doing yard work today and felt fine, so I think I'm healing very well.

Who is going to the Day of Sharing? I have not signed up yet.

Just checking back....wasn't it a glorious day!  Took the kids for hot dogs and fries, then to the river to watch the fishermen, then to feed the ducks and carp in the river, then to the playground, then to Dairy Queen then home to watch "The Prince of Egypt" during which all 3 (yep-DH too) fell asleep for 2 hours.  Then...snacks and Sponge Bob Square Pants and....their parents came and took them back. 9 hours.  Mama Winnie is pooped.

Sabrina...I am so sorry to hear about Elizabeth.  Yes-pancreatic cancer is one of the nastiest.  That being said, where there is life there is hope.  There are so many medical miracles these days you just never know.  I too will keep her in my prayers.  Hugs to you both.

Susan...you are a very nice lady, you know that?  I hope we get a chance to meet in person soon.

Blackjack...sounds like your trip is going great.

Rita...maybe we'll both get a chance to put our tops down tomorrow!

I'll post some pics of the kids tomorrow...I'd do it now but the memory card is upstairs and if I go up there, I will go straight to bed.  There is a reason 55 yr old women do not have little kids.

    Hi Girlz! Miss ya!

Mich - Hope you're still feeling good. You made a REMARKABLE recovery! Wow.. you are one tough Illinois Girl!

Rita - Wow...that's quite a story about your cousin! Like Mich asked, does she live in Illinois?

    ----------------------------

I've been busy as usual...enjoyed the weather today. My best friend and I went to Long Grove shopping and then to a few furniture stores. She's looking for a new headboard/bed.

Tomorrow dh and I are heading into the forest to do some spring clean up - will be quite a challenge with me in a "boot" but, hey...gotta be tough.

The painting is done...woo hoo! Looks nice. Most of the first floor is a pale gold/butter color. The sitting room is cocoa and the dining room is deep red. Sounds gross...but it looks good.

Calypso - Hang in there...you will be a rad grad soon! And then you can put it behind you.

Wendrew - Have you google-earthed your newspaper lately? lol Or has he cleaned up his act.

Leesa - Hope you're doing well...thinking about you.  Would you be up to joining us at the Day of Sharing next Sunday?

Nancy - I will be joining your team, as will my dh and possibly my niece. I'm waiting to hear back from her. She will most likely join, but she would do the 5k run. Must be nice to be 17 and in really great shape!

    ----------------------------

I'm going to take a long hot bath...prop my aching foot up...and let the tv watch me!

Do you think I can put away my snow shovels? Hmmmmm....don't want to "jinx" things!

Rita, very touching story about your cousin.  What  a wonderful encounter.

Laura, so happy you and your husband  are joing Nancy's team, although I still have to register us.   My 25 year old daughter will be running, while the rest of us will be walking.  Last year I was bald and this year I am not.  YIPEE.  Last year my underarm was recuperating from 2nd degree burns, and this year it is healed.  Yahoooo.   Have to tell you guys that we face the same issue with the Edens, so plan time.  They close it down to two lanes for repairs until August.  The walks are good for me as I have to work and cannot do the lunches.  Maybe I could do lunch duringthe summer.

Went to a Jazz concert tonight....so nice.

Sabrina, so sorry to hear about your sister-in-law.  If they are giving her chemo, they have a plan, so let's hope.  I will pray for Elizabeth.  As mentioned before I am trying to pray these days.  I am still in the awkward  stage, but I am trying.

    Morning.....

Here is a pic of DH with Kelsy and Johnathan...we're at the duck pond by the Mill Race Inn in Geneva..

And here is yours truly with the kids....

Nope...Johnathan does not like his picture taken...ever.

Laura....your house sounds lovely and I do like the color scheme...I think they would all go together.  Take care with your tromping around in the woods.

Karin...it was me with the BD party.  Actually the bd was 3/28, but due to everyone's schedule, couldn't get together before then.  Poor you with 45 and rain!  Our day was glorious and today sounds just as nice, but with some rain for this evening.

Mich...sounds like you recovered FAST.  And you are enjoying the weather.  I'm happy for you!

Off to hunt down my paper...I actually think I see it but if that is indeed the paper, it is under the SUV...again.  Sigh..........

    Tops down....fists up!!!!

I'm here a little late this morning.  Loved the pics Wendy.  The ducks are "cute".  Well, ok, everybody else is too....even the wee one who doesn't like his picture taken.

I think we all deserve pics of Laura's house too.

Beautiful here this a.m.  Sun shining bright and we should get up to 70 degrees.  Probably a little more...we usually do.

Denny bought a new leaf blower---a commercial jobby.  We will attack the yard a little this afternoon and see how it works.  We did not get all the leaves up this fall....too much going on with me.  Now it has to be done....anyway...he'll have the new backpack blower and I'll have the old one....we should get most of the yard cleared, I hope.

This before the next batch of rain-soaked days turn up again.  So typical of Spring.

    All have a fantastic day.

Laura, those colors sound Fabulous!  I want to paint my living room cocoa.  What is the name/brand of your color?  I want to copy you.

Sabrina, I'm so sorry to hear about Elizabeth.  Hugs to you and her.  My brother in law had that cancer, too.  I'm starting to dread the tamoxifen, too,  can't believe it actually says to wash your hands after handling.  Toxic!  Yikes!

Wendy-weren't you the one who had hair issues no too long ago? Your hair looks great, and you have bangs. How did you do that!

    Cute kids too!

Jackie-We need to get a new leaf blower also. My DH blew up too many paintball bunkers with the old one and it finally quit.

Susan-How do you prepare for the walk? How long is it?

Sorry, but I put my shovel away yesterday too. Today we set up our fountain (as did someone else, Wendy?). I'm ready for spring!

Michelle, Nancy's walk is a shorty (5K) so no preparation.  It is on Mother's Day.  Laura organized a team for another shorty later.  THe Mother's Day one is in Grant Park.  I have never done the 3-day one, but I know Jan Clare has.

What a super day it has been.  Just to be honest....I used the backpack leaf blower about 10 minutes before I gave out.  My gosh have I gotten puny.  Hate to say I could pretty much carry my weight most times but I'm definitely "delicate" now.

The new one Denny brought home had apparently a bad carburetor on it so it went back and he ordered another one.....will be here Thursday when I'm sure it will be good and wet again.  Oh well....spring will last awhile so he will have time to blow his heart out.

We stopped in at K-Marts......a store I really enjoyed but ours closed here....these small towns.  They hung on as long as they could but with Wal-Marts across the way from them it was bound to happen.  That is the one thing I really hate about Wally's World.  They just put too many people out of business.....I long for a Target here but doubt it will ever happen.  Anyway, I got a new ice-tea maker.  It's so easy....now if I can find out why my ice-maker is not making ice.  The fellows were under my sink putting in the new dishwasher and probably crimped the line....it's always something, huh Laura.

Well, on to whatever else I can make  myself do...have been dragging since before noon and my ten minutes of using the blower.

Starting to make me wonder how long it will take me to get in shape after all my txs are over.  I think I read or heard you need to count on at least as many months as your txs took....that means I'll have a long way to go....thru the coming winter even.  Not sure I want to think about that.

Hope you all have enjoyed a day as pretty as the one we are having here.

    Jackie
