JanClare...The sun is shining brightly today in central Illinois just for you.  Happy, happy, birthday and many more to come!  Celebrate!!!!!

Jackie...I love your quote for the day.  I'm sure I've got lots of paint to contribute!!!  How are you doing after your treatment?

Laura...how's it going with the foot and the stress?  I've been thinking about you and hoping that things are calming down a bit!  Have you hired that house cleaner yet?

Wendy...You're right...dig out those shorts!  Wednesday is supposed to be the start of good things to come!  In the meantime, it looks like we may even have a few snow showers but nothing like our northern neighbors in Minnesota have!

I was going to golf this afternoon but have given up the idea.  The ground is really wet and it's pretty windy here.  They are calling for rain in the mid-or-late afternoon and I don't want to get drenched on the golf course.  Think I'll go for coffee and lunch with a couple of friends and give up on the golfing idea for today.  It's hard to stay away when the sun is out, though!  LOL

    Everyone have a great day!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, JanClare! I know you will look fantastic on the runway.

Nancy and Calypso....You are almost rad grads!

To all who have had doctor's visits and tests, I am so glad to learn they went well. Blackjack, I like Dr. R too. I also like Dr.J, if you know him. I always get a feeling of confidence after a visit with either one.

Rita...I hope you get some golf weather soon. We have the river in our backyard after yesterday's rain. It has never come close to the house, and it is fun to watch the ducks.

Have a great day, everyone. I hope to see some of you on Sunday!

Thank you all the the good wishes!! Hard to believe that I'm 55- but so grateful to be here in every way!  Certainly better then last year when I was still bald and recovering from surgery!

I'm not doing anything for my birthday. I have a bad head cold (yes, I'm sick again! ) and made the mistake of taking some cold and sinus medication that is making me jumpy and woozy at the same time. I'm going to bed soon. Besides, Belize was really my present.

I hope to feel well enough to go to a weight class at the Y tomorrow.

I did attend a rehearsal for the Day of Sharing fashion show- met some really amazing women.  I'm getting excited and nervous!  I'm going to try and get there early and claim a table for us. I'll bring the "Illinois Girls are Tough" sign to put on the table!  How many do we have coming?  The tables seat 10.  They have a continental breakfast at 8:30 am, speakers and programs starting at 9 or 9:30 (I think), lunch at 12:00, more speakers, and the fashion show is supposed to start about 2:30.  All this for only 20.00!  It's a long day, but worth it.  Plus you don't have to come for all day if you don't want to..

Oh, and they said that they would allow people to register the day of as well.

Okay, these meds make me really loopy, so If I don't make sense, that's why.

Connie- I would love to come to your party!  Can we bring spouses too?

Nancy and Calypso- Can you see the light at the end of the tunnel??  Rads will be over before you know it!

Wendy-  LOL- that was too funny about zipping over Laura's trees!  You are a riot!

Karin- they are going to read your GD poem at the DofS.  They read it in practice and it was great!

Leesa- can't wait to see you on Sunday.  Hope you are doing well!

Rita- hope you get to golf soon.  Of course they are predicting SNOW up here!  Will winter never end???

Love to everyone and thank you again for the birthday wishes!  Off to bed..zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, I'm never up early enough to be the first...so I'm the last to say it...it is 11:53, I keep thinking you bought something spangaled and sparkly for your birthday and your not in bed but out doing the lacocaracha or something.  I wish you a wonderful year.

Said good morning to all, wrote a nice post and was feeling so good about myself since my spelling is so much better today...just the very yucky mouth issues so far..........and forget to hit the submit button.  Just clicked out of here.  I definitely do not have it going on yet.

Irina..beautiful kitty.  Himalayan....just like my Fancy.  Fancy is feral though.....appreciates the food and water, and living quarters but will not allow us to pet her or anything.  It's ok with me. I'm enough of an animal lover not to mind being ignored.  There are plenty here to  fill in for the couple I have who are stand-offish.

Jan, so sorry you have a cold...Hope all is well for the DofS for you.

Hope everyone else has a great day.  I'll be hannging around as I usually do......trying not to zonk too much since I'm off the steroids now.

See ya all later.  Have a good day.

Morning!  Dreary, rainy morning here.  I just keep repeating to myself..."72 on Wednesday, 72 on Wednesday". I think I can hold out til then.

Jan....hope your BD was fab and I am so sorry to miss your modeling on Sunday...I know someone will take pics.  BUT....I REALLY wanted to see you in purple chiffon and sequins.

Nancy,Calypso....you are getting sooooo close to the end.  That first day when you no longer have to go...for me it was like being released from prison.

Rita....how's the weather going to be for you  this weekend?  Any golf or cruising in your plans?

Blackjack....when does boating season open up for you guys?  Closer to Memorial Day?  Need any deck hands (hint-hint)?  I'm sure some of us would just LOVE to volunteer!

    Sabrina....how's Elizabeth?

Irina....glad you and Sabrina are connecting.  It's so nice to have a bc sister close by, isn't it?

Laura...where you at, girl?  And how is the foot?

Nicki...are you EVER coming back?????  We miss you.

    Leesa...up late I see!  I sent you an e-mail.

Connie...did you catch up on all the stuff you had to do at work?

Mich101...glad to see you are back to normal (well, the "new" normal anyway).  When's your last Herceptin?  Or are you done already?  I thought it was in May that you finished up, but I certainly could be wrong.

Off for my second cup...and then need to put back all the drapery scarfs I took down in order to put up the new drapes.  Thank Goodness I can return them.  I guess I am just not the formal drapery type plus it really cut down on the light, even with them open.  But at least I got the scarfs washed...it's been....cough, cough...awhile since they've been washed.  A VERY long while.  Might have been last spring...then again...I'm betting it was before the big dx.  No worry girls...everything is now clean.  But please, no one look under my bed.  Please.

Have a great day everyone!  Hugs and Smiles!!!!!

    Today's Quotes:

You never conquer a mountain. You stand on the summit a few
moments; then the wind blows your footprints away.
         - Arlene Blum

Adversity is like a strong wind. It tears away from us all
but the things that cannot be torn, so that we see ourselves
    as we really are.
         - Arthur Golden

If you reveal your secrets to the wind you should not blame
the wind for revealing them to the trees.
         - Kahlil Gibran, 1883 - 1931

I would like to believe when I die that I have given myself
away like a tree that sows seed every spring and never counts
the loss, because it is not loss, it is adding to future
life. It is the tree's way of being. Strongly rooted perhaps,
but spilling out its treasure on the wind.
         - May Sarton, 1912 - 1995

Poverty is very terrible, and sometimes kills the very soul
within us; but it is the north wind that lashes men into
Vikings; it is the soft luscious south wind which lulls them
    to lotus dreams.
         - Marie Louise de la Ramée (Ouida), 1839 - 1908

Blossoms are scattered by the wind and the wind cares
nothing, but the blossoms of the heart no wind can touch.

Hi Girlz! I'm doing better...still a little less stressed, but trying to keep things in perspective. My foot is healing. When I walk on it barefoot (in and out of the shower), it isn't as painful - so I know it really is healing. This boot is a god-send, but it's like toting around a big ol' ball and chain. I will be so happy to shed it...hopefully in a few weeks. I'd like to not have to lug it around Vegas!

If I ever do "down-size"...I would divide our 6 acres and build a small house on our existing property and sell our current house...but the more I thought about it...I'm not ready to do that just yet. Easy thing to say in the heat of a nervous breakdown...lol   I was supposed to be off work yesterday, but I worked from home to try to catch up on everything...see there I go again!

Today we are taking a ride to the auto shop to "visit" our GTO...hopefully the Goat will be up and running soon...the dragstrip is quite good therapy for me.

Jackie - Thanks...great suggestions, I appreciate your help. When I designed our house, I took into consideration the "aging" issue and designed it so that the master bedroom and bath are on the first floor. Upstairs, we have 4 bedrooms, one of which I turned into a craft/art room, and two bathrooms upstairs as well. Our recently "finished" basement is 1600 sq ft. Simplify, simplify...I'M WORKING ON THAT! Give Baby Boss (gotta love that name) a kiss from my Buddy Love. "My" Buddy Love weighs only 8 pounds!

Rita - I have a cleaning lady (kasia) who comes once a month to do the overall regular cleaning and sometimes I have her come an extra day and do a special cleaning. She wasn't scheduled during the painting week, and she wasn't available. So that's why I had to do it myself. It was hard limping around in this boot...but I got it all done. Kasia is comin next week to take everything out of every cabinet and dust the insides and out. There's a film of drywall dust on everything. You're right...it does help, but even in between her visits...there's a lot of things to do. Maybe I should - like you - get a recliner! lol

Connie - NO MO WIG! Yay...Congrats! Count me in on May 2nd...Thanks!

Calypso - Hi! The cocoa color is: Sherwin Williams Wheat Penny (02 32 64 128).

JanClare - Do you want to ride with me to Connie's party? AND...

Wendy - OMG - I ABSOLUTELY loved your post about your Onc visit! That is awesome! You are good! No Onc for a year...you're an over achiever! How did your hair appt go?

Leesa - How's your arm doing?

Nancy - Hi! I just registered for the walk! Me and dh will do the 3 mile walk and my niece Nicole will do the 5k run.

blackjack - Do you think I should get a Hepatitis booster shot in preparation of my stay at the Tropicana? LOL Has our next lunch been scheduled? Congrats on the "spotless" mammo!

Michele - Hey there...glad you're almost done with the Herc!

Irina - WELCOME! Your cat is gorgeous!

Ginny - Best wishes at your Dr appt...hope all is well.

Nancy Quincy - Sorry about the pain...have you tried Wendy's fix for the aches? PM her.

Karin, smerf, Sabrina, Sharon, mazy...and anyone I missed...HELLO to you!

WHO'S ALL COMING TOMORROW? I wish everyone was! Cry

    hi all:

Laura, you are so funny.  I do the same type of brainstorming when I am overscheduled.  Then a few days later, the dust settles, and I wonder whatever was I thinking.

Connie, have so much fun at your party.  It is the family party for my husband's b-day s I cannot come.   Connie, your "going wigless" story reminds me so much of the frst time I was with teacher friends and wigless.  I wore my wig up until the last day of school before summer vacation and then joyfully ditched it.  We get together for book club, so I went to the club in July.  I walked in and I know everyone was uncomfortable as it was a surprise.  Everyone reacts in a different way (some go over board telling you how great you look, others are silent).

I always felt like I had to be reassure everyone else that it was okay.  I still feel that.  Some people are so nervous about BC that I often feel like I need to protect them.  Exhausting.

Well, hope this is a wonderful weekend for all.

Susan, exhausting is exactly how it feels! Last night I was in a room of 150 medical professionals, and some of them don't deal very well. Most are doctors I have known for years as members of the Illinois State Medical Society. Thankfully my assigned dinner companion was the President of the Pennsylvania Med Society, and he didn't know about my dx. Pleasant and usual dinner conversation talking about different states medical problems, and not about me! They are all just trying to be nice, but some are so fearful you can almost taste in the air. I personally dislike it most when they go overboard, and I have  found a few ways of deflecting that, hopefully without hurting anyone's feelings.

Hi all - lots to catch up on as this was my crazy busy week.  I can breathe a little today as I submitted our first pass of our budget yesterday.  Today, I spend cleaning house as we are having my daughter's family birthday party tomorrow.  Keeping it pretty simple but you still have to clean the house!  We are grilling out rain or snow tomorrow.  Ha!

Happy Birthday Jan Clare.  No way can I believe you are 55!  You don't look a day over 40!  I hope you all have a great time tomorrow.  Loved your story about the purple chiffon!

Yes, you guys can bring spouses/significant others/kids to the party!  Sounds like Jan Clare, Laura, maybe Wendy, maybe Kater are coming?  I missed so many posts so let me know in the next couple weeks if you guys can make it!

Yea - Calypso - halfway!  The end is in sight!

Hope everyone else is doing ok.  I am sooooo sick of this weather!

SUSAN AND KATER - Cripe...I certainly did not intentionally leave you out of my previous post...you are always in my thoughts...but I was rushed to head out...and neither of you had posted in a while...and I based my post on scrolling back through the last few pages...

SO---A big hi to you two...

Susan...yup...we over think situations...but I've convinced myself that's the nature of an over achiever and an intelligent being. lol

kater - How are you? How's the rash...how's your mom? It's spring and I'm still Gator-less...I really need one. If you see one for sale...let me know. Hope you're doing well.

smerf - Glad you're going to join us! We are way more fun than a bunch of med techs! lol Good choice on your part...you won't regret your change of plans! lol

Connie - I just got back from having dinner with my niece (17 yr old) - she told me she's not going to her senior prom this year because she's date-less and asked me what I was doing that weekend and if I would spend it with her, since she'll be down in the dumps. I said SURE!...what weekend...she said May 2nd! LOL Of course...right. So I just may bring her along or she can hang at my house while I join you all. So thanks for the invite to bring others...that was really nice of you to post that. She and I will spend the weekend together...hopefully I can keep her occupied and prevent her from being sad she doesn't have a date. We'll do manicures and pedicures and shopping that weekend. I can't figure out why she doesn't have a date...she's gorgeous! lol...maybe too picky though! lol Treasure the innocent years you have with your little girl...and then...fasten your seatbelt! lol

    My dear friends,

Here it is Saturday night at 9 o'clock and I'm sitting here reading cancer posts while my boyfried watches TV. When I got sick this time, I was going to have a new life, I was gonna have fun, you guys remember Dance on the beach and all that, well that was the last time I had fun with my family. The last time I did anything with my boyfriend was the diagnosis week, we went out and danced and talked, it was wonderful, well that was that. So I sit... Feeling lousy because one thing or another hurts and wait for someone to want to be with me.

I can't wait til tommorow I get to see people who love me.

Morning All!!!  Well...still a bit dreary but the sun is trying to peek out.  Just my personal opinion, and I do try to enjoy and embrace every day now...but the weather yesterday was just the pits.  Rain, wind, cold, snow....yucky.

Leesa....your post from last night made me sad.  But I am so glad you are going to DofS today.  Girls...I can't make it so please give Leesa a big hug from me, okay?

Laura....hmmmmm.  Good idea about subdividing the property.  You have enough there!  But with the master down you are good to go for a long while.  As for your niece....could she ask someone to prom?  It's something that we all remember for the rest of our lives.  I know it's not REALLY important in the great scheme of life but I would hate for her to miss it.

Mich101...I wonder how you'll feel when we get that last H?  I was happy to be done, but I didn't really want to be done.  The only thing I knew for sure was that I wanted that dang port out.  Which is another story....unabsorbed suture, with a granuloma formed.  Looks like I might have to be slit open again.  Oh happy days.  But I will wait on this one til the fall, if the surgeon says okay...I see him 4/29.

Jackie....how are feeling?  Thanks again for the quotes.  I love reading them early in the morning, in the quiet before I start the day.

Connie....right now my plan is to come and bring the DH.  Of course I haven't told him yet.  I have found after 30 years of marriage to sneak these things in....

Smerf, Susan...I hear you guys.  You mention BC and I think some people are already planning their outfit for the funeral luncheon.  Or...and I just love this....their eyes immediately go to your breasts.  I just go ahead and tell them...it's the L and no, you can't tell so stop looking.

BD party today but DH is actually looking forward to this one.  Pizza and cake.  He will be one happy guy.  My new SS grill comes tomorrow...Lowe's delivers for $59.

Kater...haven't heard much about your Mom.  How's she doing?

Time to get this butt off the couch and on to more exciting things.  Need to put on the ole pith helmut and go ahuntin' for the paper.  Have a great day to those I've missed.

    Top down, fists up!
