Blackjack - we got a call last night that our lake also rose over the piers.  All the boats that were on lifts (like ours) floated off and were floating into the lake.  Luckily, our neighbor was there and he got our boat back in and tied it up.  At this point, we don't know where our waverunner is.  Dh is not too upset about that as it got banged up this summer against some rocks so it was damaged already.  Now he can get that taken care of with insurance - if we find it!

Thinking of everyone this week as they battle tx, se's,  remodeling and wedding plans!!!

Connie..I hope they find your waverunner. Maybe you can get a new one out of this. I know our boat is ok but some of them were pretty banged up due to the storm. Oh mother nature has not been good to us boaters. lol I hope you have a great day at work.

Good morning everyone!  It's soggy and wet here but the storms seem to have subsided for now.

Connie, it's so good that your boat was rescued.  I hope you find your waverunner.  It seems that most of us have been touched in some way by this wild weather lately.

Blackjack, I won't be able to make the Friday lunch as I'm coming up for the walk a week later.  Maybe I can make one of the next ones.  I always feel cheated when I have to miss one of the group gatherings!

I have an appointment with my beautician later this afternoon (hopefully she can make me more presentable) so I need to get laundry, errands, and all that good stuff done.  I'll check back later.

Morning all - thanks goodness for no rain!! Whew!

My shower was nice - 3 people (out of 12) didnt' make it, including my mom :(  She lives in an area of Chicago that was severly flooded - there was no way for her to get out of the area!!   Plus she was feeling ill (as is the case very often)....   it was still lovely though.

Today I am feeling very, very run down so I'm going to rest a lot & take my vitamins.

JulieChicago - best of luck with everyone on Friday!!  (My goodness, your surgery is on my wedding day!  Everything will go perfectly.)

Time to go back & lie down for a while...   take care everyone & dry out!!   JulieR

JulieR-- I'd rather go to/have a wedding!   bleah...... (btw- congrats on the good scans- never got that in,  I don't think...)

Yes- nerve racking week. Had a bizarre dream last night that a friend of friend was trying to email me some crucial information that I needed prior to the surgery and I was having difficulty accessing it-- the disconcerting part-- the man's name was Tom Lord.

Dh is halfway functioning. Still in much discomfort, but fever gone. (Except for night sweats! It was better last night- but for the past week, you would swear the man was in menopause. I've been sleeping on the couch for a week now and post surgery- may be a while before I make it back in my bed!)  Sunday, I was in desperation and he took the kids for a bit while I finally got much needed shopping in. Braved the Woodfield shopping center (you would have thought it was Christmas it was so crowded...and yes, Macy's already has the trees started...)  Walked about two hours before I finally found zipper up sports bras (In JCPenney- the store in walked in through and should have started at!!).  Then did 3 weeks of food shopping and stocked the freezer.  Paid the bills and am sending Dave to get scripts filled  (Was sent home to two to pre-fill-- Amoxicillan and Vicodin-- does this ring true with any of you?)  Hate Vicodin. Hate painkillers and drugs in general. Hoping- no, intending-  to get through with as little as possible. Not a masochist, but find the drug effects to be just as bad as the pain.

For those of you who have asked- surgery will be at Evanston Hosp on the 19th. First thing in am- expect I will need to be there around 7am.  I think I will be home Sunday. Expect they will be glad to get rid of me!

Anxiety rising- already know I'm going into this fists balled......

    Hi all:

Julie, I had my surgery at Evanston too.  Very surreal experience.  You park at the top and then you walk through this very elegant hallway.  It looks more like a hotel than a hospital There even was a piano playing....all at seven in the morning!  You sign in and then it all begins.  I was strangely calm that day.  I remember waiting for surgery on  this gurney and they kept asking me which breast.  That horrified me as I was worried they didn't know.  I also remember that a young man was next to me and he was having his tonsils out and I so envied him.  I kept telling him he was very lucky and I am sure he thought I was a nutcase.  Remember to take your rings off.  I couldn't get mine off (34 years of marriage) and the nurse was trying her best.  Finally the doctor said it was fine to keep them on. It will be good, Julie, to finally have it over with.  Tom Lord sounds like a friendly guy.  He probably just wanted to wish you good luck!

Wendy, I just do not get that packaging  for arimidex.  To me, I could be losing part of the pill by shoving it out so roughly.  It make me wonder if the pill is so heavyduty that they feel it needed a safer packaging.  I know that it says pregnant woman should not even handle the pill.  I am really careful when my pregnant daughter comes over to be sure there is nothing left on the counter.  Hey, if it knocks out cancer, I am all for respecting its power.

Water is leaving.  Thank heavens!  I hope Smurf's house  is okay.  Glenview really got hit hard.  Blackjack, I too wondered if I would get the call that school was off.  Not so.  The students were off the wall today what with the anxiety of flooding overthe weekend. This area really got hit bad.

Susan - your surgery sounds like mine.  My hospital - Edward - is also like a hotel with a piano, etc.  And I could barely get my wedding ring off as well.  I finally did with a ton of soap and I haven't put it back on yet.  I keep meaning to have it resized as I'm not supposed to have anything tight on that hand in case of lymphedema.

    Have a great night everyone!

Morning all.....chilly here at 43 but at least no more rain and the sump has stopped turning on...Rt. 31 still closed in town tho....river is rather low at that point and the whole intersection is flooded.

Julie...good luck on Friday!  We all will be thinking about you but you do sound very prepared with house and kids!  How's DH doing?  I'm thinking he should be much better about now, or at least I am hoping!

Connie.....nice that you have those neighbors to look out for your boat!  Did you find the waverunner yet?  Just a thought but maybe a nice new waverunner will float your way!!!!  Are you available for lunch on Friday?  I know you used to be off on that day...would love to see you and your pretty hair.

Blackjack....have you decided whether or not you're getting an x-ray?  It's been about 10 days now and it still hasn't improved?  You must be very uncomfortable.  Does the heat help at all?  Those stick-on heat pads that they have....they have one for menstrual cramping and it is just the perfect size for a backache (or in your case - tailbone ache!) rather than using the ones for the back which wrap all around and show thru the clothes.  Just a thought for you....

    Rita....so...are you now a redhead????

Julie R.....the big day is almost here!  Are you guys taking off on a little honeymoon?  So sorry your Mom couldn't make it - that must have been upsetting for her and you both.

Mich101....did you see in the news re: the Her2 vaccine?  It's almost here!  I am so excited to think that I could get an injection (or is it an infusion??) once a year and my bc won't come back!  Or at least that's what they are hoping.  Yeah, I know...doesn't it mean it won't or that I wouldn't develop another type...but I haven't been this excited since I found that nasty little lump almost 2 years ago!  I am really excited....can you tell?????  Now we need to find some little pill for you triple neg's to take...and I do know they are working on that!

    Jan...how's the house coming?

Nothing new to report here....Dh's car's steering is actually better so he doesn't feel in a rush to buy something.  I did track down the #'s for our builder to see if they can track down the subcontractors who installed the windows...obviously someone skipped a step somewhere during installation and I do know the windows are covered for 20 years.  I did find out that I could put in a claim for this (thank you J!) but with all the homeowners ins. policies being canceled I am so reluctant to do this...rather see if I can get the window company to at least come out and tell me what the heck is going on!

Everyone...have a wonderful sunny dry day...I am off to exercise and then to the library and then to the couch...I am coming down with my first cold in about 3 years so I guess I was due.  Or...I babysat on Sat am and the sweet little imps passed their nasty little germs on to me!

Wendy.....Nope, I'm not a redhead today.  In fact, that's part of the reason I couldn't wait to get to my beautician.  The sun had bleached out my color until I was nearly a brassy strawberry blonde and I couldn't do that anymore.  She's got it toned down now.  Hopefully that brassy red won't bleed back through!  As for your cold, rest, drink plenty of fluids or dine on chicken noode soup and chase it away quickly!

As for the Her2 vacine, I think it's very exciting, too.  Even though it won't help me, there are so many who will benefit and it shows all of us that they are moving on new ways to fight this disease.  Hopefully a cure is just around the corner.

It sounds like everyone has the week well under control.  I'll check back later.  I have to do the grocery shopping excursion this morning.  It's my least favorite domestic job!

    Everyone have a good day.........

    Hi,

I don't believe this--- I have caught a COLD....at least that's what it's morphing into.  3 days before surgery!!  Does anyone know if this is going to be a problem?  Should I be calling surgeon's office for this?  I was prime for it--- low wbc still from chemo, handling everything while Dave had his kidney crisis and kids just back in school.....   Whine whine whine-- this is just not FAIR.

I joked to a friend that I need a nubile 18yr old virgin to offer to a volcano....I'm certain at this point I've offended a random demon....

But then she pointed out that I would have a difficult time finding any more 18 yr old virgins.

    I'm doomed.

    Hi Julie,

I was just thinking about you, and signed on to wish you well on Friday when I saw your post. Yes, you should call your surgeon about your cold symptoms. I'm sorry this is happening to you, it seems like too much lately. Anesthesiologists do not like to use medicines that put you to sleep if you have respiratory infection. Doctors will need to listen to your lungs, and evaluate the situation. Not doomed, but possibly delayed. Check your temp before you call so you have that information also. Thinking of you, and sending the biggest hug your way!

Hi All! Just like the "bad penny" I"M BACK!!! LOL Lot's of post to catch up on! Looks like this Friday is a big day for both Julies!! Thinking back to the last wedding I helped plan, and my surgery.....I almost think surgery was easier!! LOL I too had a cold, just a little sore throat and runny nose, no fever so surgery was a go.

Hope everyone has dried out. What weird weather you are getting! At least the rain wasn't that bad s word! I've always heard 1 inch of rain = 10 inches of that S word!

Work is keeping me to busy..... now my boss' DsH left.....( dumbs#*t hubby) Thankfully my DH isn't working much and he can help out.

Is the new vaccine for HER2 + or - gals? I heard part of the news but fell asleep before the important part!

    Better get to work!

Will check back when I have time

Everyone stay healthy & be happy!

    Hi everyone -

Sorry to hear of your cold Julie.  Hopefully, it clears up quickly.

I won't be able to make the lunch Friday.  I work from home on Friday's and usually I can make a lunch, but I have a big project due to my boss Friday and I know I won't have it completed by then.  I think the next get together was to be in the evening, but I think it was scheduled for a Friday evening?  Any way to move it to mid-week?

Wendy - that's great about the vaccine!  Hopefully, one day bc will be obliterated.

Dh will be going up to MI this weekend to check things out and see if he can find the waverunner.  I'm sure he will find it as it can't really just disappear (unless it sinks)!

    Have a good day everyone!

    Update....

Ok. Checked with surgeon and plastic surgeon--- am to watch for fever. If no coughing and no fever, it can still be a go. Asked specifically about sinus stuffiness- was told it was not a concern as long as nothing is going on in the lungs.  Supposed to now call them daily and let them know my condition.  If fever develops...then we might be looking at a new date in late NOVEMBER.  There's no immediate threat as I had the actual tumor removed via lumpectomy in May-- but mentally, I've had a hard enough time crawling here....just want it over with and not looming.

Liquids, juice, and zinc lozenges (checked- they are ok)-- that's about all I can do........

thanks for the good wishes and hope everyone is drying out.

    Julie,

So glad you checked with your docs, and everything possible is crossed so that you can go ahead Friday. I know it takes awhile to get mentally prepared, and when you are you don't want any delays. Rest and fluids, and hopefully you'll be ready to go!

Thinking of you, and sending hugs your way.

Jackie    Happy belated birthday to you! I hope it was wonderful, and you enjoyed some treats. I like the ice cream, and you can hold the cake.

I was preoccupied with trying to keep my head above water since last Friday. We live on the west fork of the north branch of the Chicago River, and have been in this house for 32 years. this is the first time it threatened to come in, and we actually left on Sunday because it looked so bad. Didn't want to wait for a flash flood, so I took some photos and we took both cars over to the hospital. All seems well now, ever since the rain stopped on Sunday afternoon. What a weekend!

I"m putting my snorkel away now.

    Good Evening Ladies,

Wendy... the back is not good so they want to do an MRI now. I was at work today moving very slowly all my furniture around so they can put in the new counters. I feel like a old lady..100 years old that is lol. I am going to try to get it done next week before Vegas. As they say when it rains it pours. Oh I hate md's, tests and more test and meds..this just s*cks. Pretty soon I will be a glow in the dark person.. Who needs to dress up for Halloween...I will just glow.

Smerf..thinking of you and all that water in Glen view. My girlfriend got water in her basement about 4 inches. what a mess it was. Have a safe trip to Ohio with your son.

See you at the lunch bunch Friday.

Juliechicago...eat lots of chicken soup and rest. Sending a big hug to you for Friday. If you need anything please let us know.

JulieR..here comes the bride...hope the day is bright and sunny. Congrats to you and will be thinking of you on your special day.

Laura..glad to hear that your foot is good to go..and I do love those shoes. I guess with my back no more stilettos for me lol

Connie..are you free Friday. Let me know. Would love to see you again.

Rita..we will miss you Friday. Have fun next week with your walk. I will be thinking of all of you as you do your walk. Hope for a cure.

To everyone in tx hugs to you. We are thinking of you all.

to everyone else have a great evening. Off to the couch now and a little wine. I think a little pity party is in order tonoc and then to bed for me..

JulieB-Hoping your cold gets better soon, and will be thinking of you on Friday.

JulieR-Will be thinking of you Friday also! I wish you a beautiful day!

Wendy-I did not hear about the Her2 vaccine recently. You're right, it sounds very exciting! I'll have to check into it.

Laura-That shoe cracked me up! It looks painful to me - bunions - yikes!

    Connie-Good luck finding the waverunner!

Had my hair colored/highlighted and cut - if I straighten it in the morning, it kind of looks like the 'old' me. I think I look younger - I'll take it! I'll try to update my avatar (if my computer cooperates) in the near future with a picture.

    Jan-Hoping your remodeling goes smoothly.

Everyone else - hope you are feeling good and enjoy the nice weather!

Wendy....Hope you clear up all the window problems.....it's always something.

Connie....I sure hope your hubby finds that waverunner. Bummer!

Rita...I'll bet your hair looks terrific, as usual. I'm down to almost nothing in the fridge, dreading our favorite job. Ugh, grocery shopping.

Mich101   How are you doing? Can you make it to lunch? I'll bet your hair looks really cute, and we'd love to see you.

Laura....I'm laughing at your shoe, and happy to hear your foot is feeling better.

Blackjack....Feel better! Why an MRI instead of x-rays? With hx of fall that's the usual first step, so I'm wondering. See you soon, anyway. I'm with you girlfriend, hating tests. By the way, how does Northshore University Healthcare grab you? ENH, without the N.

JulieR   The excitement is growing, and you must be so busy. We'll all be thinking of you on Friday, and waiting for pictures!

I've got a new problem{not health related} so have to call my DH who is still at work. Call him workaholic much?  I'll tell you about it later.

    Hugs to alk, smerf

Hi my name is Linda and I live in a small town in Southern Illinois called Bluford actually it is a small village of about 400.  I am 49 years old and am married to a wonderful man and have 2 children from my first marriage who I do not know what I would do without.  My daughter is 28 years old, and is a nurse, and my son is 24 years old and works in a train engine factory.  My daughter has been there for me every step of the way and has been a god send in helping me through treatment.

I was diagnosed with BC on March 30, 2007 that was found during a routine mammogram and NO ONE ever felt the lump which turned out to be 2.8 cm and thn had a recurrence diagnosed on April 14, 2008 which were two small cyst that I found on in Jan 08 and the other on the day I was to have the other one removed (4/1/08).  They were found to have cancer cells in them.  I had MRI of the brain, CT scan, PET scan, and Bone scan and all came back showing that the cancer had not spread to anywhere else in my body, which was good new in the bad news.

My first round of chem started May 1, 2007 and ended August 7, 2007  i was on A/c (4 txs) and Taxol (4 txs) followed by  33 radiation treatments ending October 26, 2007.

My second round of chemo started April 23, 2008 with Xeloda 3600 mg and then reduced after 2 tx due serious SE I was also receiving Taxotere due to finding a swollen lymph near my neck around the collar bone.  I was taken off of the Xeloda after 2 more tx of reduced dosage because of SE's I could not eat or drink and lost 20 lbs in 2 months.  That was a treatment from HELL but I am feeling much better on the Taxotere alone.

In August I had a CT scan and PET scan and they came back with complete resolution of the disease and I am know considered in remission with NED.  I will continue on the Taxotere for another year as a precaution as I am also a triple-neg.  I consider myself lucky at this point but in the back of my mind I think when will it strike again, I keep telling myself and others that it is in God's hand and try to go on living my life a near normal as possible, but we all know that what was our normal is gone forever, we just do the best we can day-by-day, hour-by-hour and sometimes second-by-second.

    Hugs to all,

     Linda

Linda LD -- stay tuned.  Julie B and Julie R.  From our weather report here....looks like Friday will be an all right day.  I hope so up in your area as well.  For Julie B....it will be so much nicer to come out of surgery to a clear bright day and that is what I wish for you.  Julie R...how stunning after this recent round of terrible weather to have a beautiful wedding day.  Weather are you listening???? Please cooperate and make it a lovely day for all.

Now then, Linda LD.  You are not very far from me.  I live right outside of Centralia on Raccoon Lake.  We are nearly neighbors as I think Bluford is on one edge of Mt. Vernon if I recall.  Welcome to the Illinois group.  It is a lovely place here where we all cheer for one another and yes, sometimes cry for one another too.  It is about sharing this abnormality that hit us and changed us forever.  I know I speak for some in saying that I find many of the "changes" that shook me out of some of my complacent feelings and ways has been not such a bad thing.  Of course we ALL to a person would have rather not had it happen perhaps this way with this disease but like you -----  might as well do something productive with the lemons we were handed.  No one is a seer or psychic and so we just have to do the very best we can each day and then let it go.  No one knows when our time will come to move to the next level and that can be a daunting thought as we are generally very emotional beings.  We all are given challenges to help us grow our souls stronger  ( there are those darn lemons again ) and so each day is a personal adventure to see what you can do....what little change for the better you might be able to produce for yourself or someone else.  The ladies here help me soooo much to make my thoughts and life as productive as I can.  I have very little, but they have helped make me one of the richest human beings on earth.  Hope you will come visit us often.

Laura.....love your laughing BRING it on soul.  What a kick in the ole' keister.  Don't have a spell check on that last word, but my Aunt Weesy the nurse used it all the time.  Her name was Louise but as toddlers no one could pronounce it so it became Weesy.  Same with Aunt Maxcene who was Aunt Mackie.  Just a couple of fun memories there.  Anyway--your're a real boost today.

Mich...can't wait to see your hair.  So far, mine is straight and still very, very short.  At first it was gray, but the pigment came in.  I think I will have to go to the beauty school and have some trim done.  I have wispies ???? (word ) around my ears and a couple just behind my ears which tend to flare out when I'd rather they didn't.  I have tried the mousse' thing but wasn't totally happy with how it looked on top ----  still it's awfully nice to have hair again and it looks ok enough for the most part to go w/o the wig.  That's a real bonus when we are having the windy, rainy weather, as I kept my hair in my work satchel and put it on when I got there.

Ok, got to run.  It's bank day....oh, there is a God.  I am really sorta broke from having to stay home for a couple of weeks with my ahem' ringworm so I'll have a hurry up morning today.  All stay well and lets let Laura's sunshine in all over the place.  I'll be stopping in later.

    Hi

    And the ridiculous-ness continues:

Husband going back to ER.  Still passing- or trying to pass big blood clots. Something is not right, post kidney stone surgery.

Babysitter called- my daughter is sick. Had to beg a brother to go pick her up.

I'm getter sicker.  At work so that I can pass off my workload to a co-worker, so had to come in to take care of this.  Had planned on taking tomorrow off to get my stuff- physically and mentally- together- and now it looks like I'm going to have to take care of both my daughter and my husband.

And surgery is Friday-- but-- at this point-- if I start a fever-- surgery will be canceled.

Dare I tempt and ask-- what else? aaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
