Good morning everyone
Chilly outside, but due to warm quickly....in the meantime the hot coffee sure feels nice going down.
Wendy, so sorry to hear about Tom. Hasn't this cropped up in some of the other family members? Hope they can address it from the vantage point of a specific reason as I think it's always good if you can fix something from that end. You are in my thoughts and I'm hoping for a good, speedy recovery.
I'll also be thinking about all of you on the walk today. Should be a nice day for it.
Lots to do today and I hope I get it all done. More of the same though I'm to the point of having to move some things around. I have a lot to go to auction.
Spoke to Alissa ( granddaughter ) on the phone last night. How wonderful. Everyone is becoming anxious for our reunion now. One of those things that was ok for the future but now that the date is set and ticket ready...wow.
So all you who have flown lately.....since I have not been on a plane in 38 years, what do I need to know ...... picture ID I know ( that may get me in trouble with my full head of hair last time I did drivers license ) and very little in comparison now. I have a computer print out of my ticket and hope that is sufficient.
Well, I'm off to start my day.....be checking in later as always. Much love to all of the No Surrender team and all of the walkers and BC supporters today. I'm with you in spirit.

Wendy....Thinking of yoy and Tom today. Hope the situation is quickly resolved, and you get him home soon.
Thank you to all who are walking today. You have a really glorious day for it!

Jackie...I'm so happy for you! Sounds like your trip will be really wonderful. You can go to tsa.gov and learn about the security requirements for getting through the airport. The good old days are definitely gone since 9/11, but it isn't bad if you are prepared.
hugs, Pat

Mornin' Girlz!
Wendy - How's dh?
-----------------------------------------
Well - can I just say that yesterday was an INCREDIBLE day...one that I will never forget! My heart is overflowing with support, encouragement and just plain ol' LOVE. Our team was awesome! The weather was absolutely PERFECT...Connie and Kelly, Rita and Dave, my cousin De-De and her daughter Sydney, JanClare and Sharon, our own SHARON, my MoM, my incredible husband, my best friends Rena and Sophie, my sweetheart and dear friend Nancy, my beloved niece Shelby and her friends Gina and Mose, my friends Laura, Lenny, Donna, Alicia and Tyler... As we were walking our 3 miles, I looked behind me and saw THOUSANDS of supporters walking along with us...IT WAS AMAZING...my heart skipped a beat for sure. Saturdays are valuable - especially when you work full time. And to sacrifice a Saturday for our team and our cause...is truly admirable. Unfortunately, Shelby's friend Gina became dehydrated and got stomach cramps. Because she is a minor, they took her to the hospital and pushed some liquids through her. She's doing fine...poor little thing! My cousin took most of the photos and I will post them when she sends me them. But in the meantime (the cute blonde is my MoM):

Good Morning everyone
It's bright and beautiful right now and will warm nicely. I continue to hear acorns hitting our roof. The roof to the screen room is corrugated plastic sheet.....makes it seem like something far heavier than an acorn is coming down on it.
Hope you have all enjoyed the week-end so far. I know some are still dealing with their own medical issues or that of their loved ones....I am thinking of you and wishing it all to go well.
Mich...I so love your avatar. Don't know what it is---the radiant smile or the color you are wearing that so enhances it, but several have that going on. It makes it so enjoyable to know the minute I type in my password I am going to be treated to SEEING all of you in such a positive way....even Buster's Mom because I love that picture too. What a way to start your day.
I don't have anything planned today...just going to go with the flow and let Life choose to put me where I need to be---although I do suspect some more work on the house will occur. We will also have to begin some work in the yard....as Laura and several others know......living in or near the woods means a lot of massive clean-up in Fall. For the beauty and serenity I'm ok with that for now. Someday in 20 or 30 years when I am a bit older I will have to revisit that thought.
I hope you all have s wonderful day, spent in whatever way brings satisfaction or accomplishment or peace.

Ah Laura, what great pictures. Loved the one of your Mom. Plain to see where your pretty smile comes from. Thank you so much for the pictures. I was hoping they would come soon, but I didn't want to nag...won't nag about the lunch bunch or wedding photos either...no, not me.
All those pictures are just a reinforcement on how many good people there are in this world. We are all so fortunate and I say thank you for what you do to make my life and the lives of all around you better. When you are contributing for one thing and trying to make a difference I do believe the attitude that carries you into doing that ( cancer walk ) is the same attitude that you are in as you inter-relate to people and their needs or desires every day. You and all the people walking are not just about one special day----you are all special everyday and that is what makes the world go around --- you all give hope and encouragement away and as you know, the more you give away, the more that comes back. You definitely give me something to reach for and toward and I thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Awwwww Jackie...thanks so much! A little inspiration goes a long way. btw - it's great that you have an avatar! You look great...keep up the good work. And...we still have acorns falling too! They are constantly hitting the gutters and the decks. It's crazy! lol Maybe next year you can plan on joining us at the walk. We're the lucky ones (NOT!)...we get to wear pink shirts!

Rita, Jan, Sharon, Connie...if you have any photos - can you please post them? I'm bummed that we didn't get a Survivor Team photo ... and I would love to see photos of all of you!

Blackjack-hope you are feeling better. Yesterday DH and I went to Lake Geneva and did the Black Point Estate Tour. I thought of you and what a wonderful summer you have on this lake and what a beautiful area it is. We also went to a Japanese Steak house (Crystal Lake) where they cook right at your table. The cooks are very entertaining, catching bowls in their hats, making volcanoes out of an onion, etc. well, our cook intentionally lit the whole grill on fire, it was a woosh of flame for an instant-it go so hot the moment he did it, good thing that I wasn't wearing a wig at the time-omg it would have been singed. It was a good time.

Never mind, it was me, I can now see the pics. You look great! What a beautiful day it was.

O.K. Michele, tell me what you did to see the last pictures. I can only see the one of Connie and Kelly and I've been clicking on those darn red x's with no results.

Ef you strike a thorn or rose,
Keep a goin'!
Ef it hails, or ef it snows,
Keep a goin'!
'Taint no use to sit an' whine,
When the fish ain't on yer line;
Bait yer hook an' keep a-tryin' -
Keep a goin'!
Frank L. StantonGood morning everyone
Found this little poem/ditty and thought I'd share an extra this morning as it is so much like the Illinois ladies that just keep going. Every moment of our lives really is the perfect moment -- even when im-perfect or negatives things are happening.
May get some rain today....it is in St. Louis ( 70 miles East of us ) heading this way. Will make the rest of the week fairly chilly. Now I'm really going to have to start thinking Fall.
Hope you all have a fantastic day.

Hi. Surgery is over - thank goodness. It is such a relief to be done. Thanks for the well wishes. I got out of the hospital on Friday, but I have been moving slowly. The 4 drains are driving me crazy, but they are better when I pin them up or put them in pockets from a cami. My parents and sister have came to help at different times so that someone can help me reach things and entertain me:) I have some pinkness around the steri strips, and I think that I have blisters again. I am afraid to take them off - I know that they will hurt. I am hoping that they will fall off in the shower so that I won't have to do anything with them. Anyway, all in all, doing okay. Relaxing at home and trying to rest for most of this week.
Laura, I love the pictures. It was such a perfect day to walk on Saturday.
Have a wonderful day everyone.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MICHELE! I don't know how to add the graphic balloons and exploding fireworks, but I AM sending sincere birthday wishes for a wonderful day and an even better upcoming year to a wonderful lady! Hugs to you across the miles! Enjoy your day! I wish I was closer. I'd pick you up for lunch and we'd just CELEBRATE!!!!

Mornng! The pictures of the walk were great!
Jule...glad you got home so quickly. Isn't it nice to have the surgery behind you? You sound like you are doing pretty good, all things considered. My steri-strips wuld probably still be stuck on me if I didn't eventually pull them off after 2 weeks...which is my rule. Those things really hold!
DH is still in the hospital and I have been practically living there as the withdrawal from the his anti-arrhythmial drug has been very stormy. Episodes of heart rates around 35, then zooming back up to 188...back and forth and back and forth. BUT......he had his almost 4 days without the one drug and he started on his new antiarrhytmial yesterday and so far his a fib is only occasional and his bradycardial/tachycardial episodes along with his atrial flutter have subsided as of last night. We are hoping that he will continue to do okay this morning and will be able to come home some time today. I am so sorry I haven't been able to get back to some of you. I did sit down Saturday night to return some emails, and I fell asleep waiting for the laptop to boot up and then DH called at 4am from the hospital after another sucky night. And then I did the same thing last night....good thing Desp. Housewives is on On-Demand!
OK...nuf about me and my trials/tribulations....I need to get stuff done so HOPEFULLY I can make one last trip to the hospital. Keep your fingers crossed......

Jule...so good to hear that things are progressing well for you after your surgery! I'm so glad that you checked in as all of us have been wondering about you. Hang in there. Before you know it, those drains will be out and you'll be feeling 100% better!
Wendy, I DO have my fingers crossed that hubby will be home today or tomorrow at the latest. It sounds like he has had a rough time of it, and of course that means that you've had the same. When you get him home, I think you both need to just rest. I'm thinking about you and hoping for the best!
Jackie...so glad that you're in contact with your granddaughter and that your trip sounds so positive! How exciting it will be for you! It's not going to be long now and you will be flying those friendly skies! I'm so happy for you!
Blackjack.....Did you get to go on your Vegas trip? Feeling any better?
Laura, I do have a few pictures of the walk. I put Dave in charge of the camera and he got side-tracked this year and didn't get as many. I will try to post some this week. JanClare took LOTS of pictures but I think she is having computer problems and might not be able to get them posted. Maybe she'd email them to you if you know how to get them from the email onto the site.
Connie...I'm so glad that you and Kelly walked on Saturday. She is such a doll!
Sharon, I'm sorry I didn't have more time with you at the walk. I didn't realize that you were only doing the mile and was disappointed when I realized that you'd taken off. You really looked GOOD!!!!
Well I need to capitalize on this rainy day and get something done around here. I hope everyone is doing well today! I'll be back later.

Hi all:
The pictures are great. Michelle, you and your daughter are beautiful. You looks so healthy and happy. Wow, what a trip this has been.
The wedding was wonderful. Combo Jewish and Catholic and they blended the music, traditions, services, etc with such grace. Yesterday I went to Elkhorn looking for stuff and managed to do just fine for myself. I bought a wicker rocker for my granddaughter (perfect condition) for $10.00.
Wendy, I know the last few days have been hard for you. I too hope that Tom comes home very soon. It is hard for him because he has to think about work. I hope he has great support at his school. I know he sure does at home!
Anyway, stay dry!
Susan

Happy Birthday Michele. Hope it's everything you are hoping for this year.
Jule, glad to see you are back with us and have that operation behind you. I think sometimes the anticipation is worse than the actual event. Here's hoping for a totally smooth and un-eventful recovery....one of the few times the word boring can be just the blessing we want. Hope you are BORED silly.
Susan, the wedding sounds like it was totally enjoyable. How special to cater to each other and your guests at such a once in a lifetime event.
Good to hear as well that Tom may be home with a medication that works well and keeps him comfy and looking forward to all that he enjoys. We all know he has a fantastic nurse.
I'm doing vet offices today....I have one going in for shots and right after I get little Maggie Grin home I will go to town and help my friend Maggie ( can you guess who got me to take the last addition to my zoo ) and help her with a couple of hers. Glamor Puss weighs at least 25#'s and with two going in Maggie at only 90#'s herself struggles.
I'll be checking in later.

Hey Girlz...I saw this posted in one of the forums here. I contacted them and will be doing the Iodine testing. Thought ya' all might want to check it out...:
Hello to those not yet tested for iodine deficiency, Breast Cancer Choices' Iodine Investigation Project is collecting data on the iodine (and now bromide) levels of breast cancer patients for our database.
See www.breastcancerchoices.org/iproject
Since research shows a clear connection between iodine deficiency and breast disease, we are eager to get more compelling data collected.
Please contact sally@breastcancerchoices.org for details. All information is confidential.

Haven't been able to post with my new updated security! So frustrating, but I should be used to it by now. Raining and cold, and I have a leak in my newly painted bedroom ceiling. Heading up to the attic to have a look see.
