JulieA.....what a great picture.  Princess Juliet...like that too.  Hmm, I haven't really been organized since I was 8 I think....and maybe not then.  Sigh !!!!  Been working on it though because who wouldn't like life to run a little smoother.  With me it's just the overload of things I don't need and don't want but are too good to yard sale.  I'm still collecting things for auction.  One of these days ( if the economy comes round a bit ) I'll have a little nest egg after my auction.

Hope you are all staying cozy.

Had to pop back....Princess Julie...love the avatar!!!!

Spent 6 hours sorting thru the Christmas boxes and then put up one tree in the liv room and various and sundry items there and in the foyer and dining room.  Then off to shower and to grandnephew's 4th BD party.  Home to start taking all fall stuff down to the dungeon and bringing up piles of holiday stuff.  DH will help me take down some end tables and bring up the fam room tree tomorrow.I am pooped....house looks like a Christmas tornado ran thru it...but should look pretty by tomorrow night.

Blackjack...I may have a problem with my furry friends!  They ALL want to come to the party and I have over 50!  I will sit them all down tomorrow and have a talk as to who gets to go, and who doesn't.  And you were washing pants at 3:30 am???  Tell Jen she is soooo lucky to have you as a Mom!

Listened to 93.9 going and coming from the BD party today...all Christmas music.  I used to be falling into that ole Grinch mood these past 10 years or so but I don't know...this year...I think I am remembering what it is about this season that makes me happy.  I felt like a little kid, running up and down the stairs with all the goodies, each box I opened in the basement I was oohing and aahing over little decorations that I had forgotten about, including some from my Mom.  I kinda felt like the old Wendy is back this Christmas.  I've missed her.

Have a wonderful evening and a great Sunday as I am sure I won't get back to you all til tomorrow night!

And no, I haven't forgotten that Thanksgiving comes first...just that I won't be here so I figured why not get the house all prettied up!  I am so thankful for everything I have been given and I am so thankful for each and everyone of you.  My life is so much richer with all of you in it and I hope in some small way I have given back to you.  You guys mean the world to me.

Jackie, Blackjack, and WendyK - I'm glad you guys like the new avatar.  It's from my Bachelorette night - my friend Betsy bought me the crown & sash to wear... it was pretty funny to sit in a nice restaurant with that thing on my head.  Although after we polished off the champagne, I kind of forgot about it.

Wow Wendy, you already have a tree up??  I'm impressed!  That was a very nice post to read, by the way.  I'm glad you are enjoying yourself Kiss  It's so fun to pull out ornaments & stuff, and reminisce (sp?) about where they came from, etc.

I never seem to get that Christmas feeling until after Thanksgiving rolls around.   The weekend after is when I get that urge to pull out the decorations & stuff.  I love putting lots of lights on the bushes outside!!

We finally got high speed internet, whoohooo!!   What  a difference.  DH has been on the PC checking out YouTube & all kinds of funny stuff.   Okay, me too!! Embarassed

Guess it's time to go watch the news - hope you all enjoy the rest of the weekend.

Juliet Princess (haha!!!)  It sounds funny.

    Morning Girls,

Princess Julie...I just love Christmas and all the decorations too. Like Wendy I have started to put up my stuff too. This year's theme is gold and silver so I am on the hunt for a small gold tree. Each year I do something different..I have to think about how to decorate my kids rooms. It is my passion each year to do something different...so the hunt begins. lol

Wendy...just tell those bears only the best ones can come..and I do have a tree w/ lights if you needed it. No decorations on it..so what do you think. DD called last noc and she won on the Iowa game..she is having way to much fun. lol  It really should be me out here. lol

Jackie..how are you doing..hope you are still coming to lunch with the girls. Can't wait to meet you.

Rita.. so happy that your book is done and now you can have a breather until the next project.

any ideas to share with us.

Laura..how are you..are you done with your car photo shoot..how did that go.

Well I hope everyone is having a great Sunday. To the girls in tx sending you healing hugs your way. To the ones out of tx enjoy and have fun. Life is to short. So Live, Laugh and Love.

Update if there is anyone else who would like to join us for lunch please let me know by tomorrow. We have a large group coming..so let the fun begin. lol.

Remember to be healthy..be happy..Enjoy your day.

There are no mistakes. The events we bring upon ourselves, no matter how unpleasant, are necessary in order to learn what we need to learn; whatever steps we take, they're necessary to reach the places we've chosen to go.
    Richard Bach

    Good morning this a.m.  Smile

It's going to be a little warmer today and I'm sure glad of that. May go out to the open house for the Humane Society's new building.  This has been ongoing for years.....trying to find a good property for a " NO KILL" shelter.  Called " House of Hope " and I'm so thrilled that it will be opening soon.  Most of the real animal lovers here have long awaited and worked for this building and to know that all viable animals will be given a chance to find a home is just incredible.

I'm enjoying the sunshine through my office window and hope all of you will be seeing sun today.  Looking forward to our quiet Thanksgiving.  As so many have thought or said.....I have much to be thankful for this year ---- operations, chemo and rads are not looming, and I have a whole new set of friends ( my treasures ) and my hair is growing back and my life is full of good things, and just enough thorns to keep me appreciative.  Who could ask for more.  For those in txs or about to begin I will be praying for you to have a stable, strong relationship with your caregivers so that you receive all the help and meds you deserve to bring you thru this journey.  For those of us on the other side I will pray for our continued good health, good sanity, and the ability to bring considerations and good advice to our sisters just now beginning.

On that note I'm going to go get some breakfast.  I'll be checking back later as usual.

Just wanted to send everyone a quick wave and ((hug)).  Special hugs to those in treatment.

Christmas already??  I think I'm on the opposite end of the spectrum, I'm ENJOYING the fact that I will put up NO decorations this year.  I rather wish that I could fly to somewhere warm and spend Xmas on a beach.  Wink

OMG...... I just remembered that I was supposed to sign up for and run a Turkey Trot with some friends today! Ack! Chemo brain strikes again. I can tell that I'm going to have to do some groveling..

I haven't gotten my test results yet. Hoping that no news is good news, ya know?? Oh, and I still have not decided on the Zoloft or not. I've been feeling more upbeat in general, so thought I would hold off for awhile.

    Have a great week everyone!

JanClare - glad to hear your feeling more chipper (chipperer?)these days.   And if you go somewhere warm, please stuff me in your suitcase.

Jackie - that's great about "house of hope".  I'm such an animal lover & always try to urge people to adopt animals instead of buying them.

I heard we may have some nasty weather tonight/tomorrow a.m.    Guess it's that time of the year.  Bleh.   It will be time for my snow driving lesson soon with DH, haha.

    Have a good night everyone!

    Janclare:

I took Zoloft because of my nightmares.  I had them every night and they left me feeling like a mess the  next day as they threw off my sleep. I am now on half a pill as I  too am doing better.   I remember discovering that I actually felt calm for the first time in so long.  I forgot what "calm" felt like.  The problem with any of those pills is that they tend to cause weight gain, and that has happened to me.  You eat less but gain weight because of the metabolism change.  That would not be a problem for you!

If you are doing okay, then don't take them.  If you are very anxious, then take them.  Calm feels pretty good!

    Either way, good luck!

Rita - Book...what book!? Did I miss something?

Jule - Hang in there with RADS... you're almost done with treatment!

Rene23 - BSGI - is more sensitive, so it picks up in-situ (and invasive) cancers better than Mammo and MRI... I think the only hospital in IL that has it is in Elmhurst or Elk Grove...? Where are you having done?

elf song - Hope you're doing well. Of course, feel free to join us on the 8th.

Carol - Hope you're doing well. I had some of the tightness feeling after my 1st Mast. Hang in there!  If you want to car pool on the 8th...let me know. We're meeting here in the forest at 10:45-11:00ish.

Hi! I have been MIA...was down in the dumps, but have really been trying to keep busy. But yet trying to NOT feel as though I must be doing something EVERY SECOND OF THE FRICKIN" DAY.

EXCITING NEWS: On Friday, me and dh went to a photo shoot with the GOAT... GM High Performance Magazine is doing an article about out new engine. They took 102 photos... of us in the car, outside of the car, just the car, the tires, the engine... but they'll probably only use 2-3 photos! LOL And...because it was warmer today...we went to the dragstrip. dh's first run was 11.1 seconds... we almost got kicked out! Anything under 11.0 seconds, your car has to have a roll bar installed... so he had to go slower instead of being able to REALLY punish the pavement. I didn't race...I could never NOT go as fast as possible, ..that's no fun! we would have DEFINATELY been kicked out had I run it. LOL So............. looks like we have to have a roll bar installed this winter! My Orthopedic Surgeon will be very happy! When he found out I race, that's the first thing he said! LOL

Yesterday I started making a Trinket Tree...I'll post a photo... I make them with vintage jewelry and miniatures. My friend ordered one for her friend as an x-mas gift. Each one is different. This one turned out gorgeous... kept me busy yesterday for 6 hours and this evening for another 4! I'm not quite through with it...

My friend bought me a book titled, "The Art of Relaxation" - she hit the nail on the head... it's something I have yet to master! But in time... after all Rome wasn't built in a day! LOL

    HI TO EVERYONE!

Ah Julie....high speed Internet....it's proof that you can be on the Internet/computer for hours and still get tons of work done.  This is what I do when I take a break.  I can read email, go on the blog and write....play a couple o Maj Jong games, check temperatures, pick out a couple of recipes and be back to "my work" in 15 minutes.  So, I am on here four or five times a day.....and wow, when I'm really caught up or just being lazy....I can really zip around on this thing.

I don't think I could ever go back to dial-up and pray I will never have too.

    -- Joseph Collins

    Morning everyone,

At first glance I was thinking it wasn't what I really wanted to say in the quote --- then starting to feel like it was provoking a lof of thoughts.....so I decided to go ahead and use it.  Will it provoke thoughts in you?????

It's gray right now here but the sun is due to come out later.  Rained here overnight ( weather said it would ) and helped bring the temperature up a bit.  The wind we have later will not make it feel as warm as it will be but if we have our sun I'll be ok with it.

Thanksgiving with my cousin so I'm looking for no bake recipes as my oven is fried again.  The joy of living in the country.  The newer stoves with electronic control panels seem to take lightning strikes very easy.  I'll have to ask if there is something we can do.  This is getting tiresome.

Laura, why am I not surprised that you will be in a magazine.  Wow---you are just always out there living life so often to the fullest that things like this just have to happen.  It's a GOOD thing.  Just think some day when your much older think what fantastic things you will have to look back and enjoy and somehow I see you as able to look back with totally unfettered nostalgia.  Reminds me somewhat ( I will have to try and look it up ) about living your life to the very fullest so that when it's done and you have a few scrapes and scars, you will look back  and say wow!!!  what a ride.  That is you Laura.  My mom was a little quieter about it but she lived her life to the fullest too.  One of my memories about her that gives me a sense of peace and tranquility now that she is not here beside me is that the night before she passed on she told me without one trace of any remorse, that she had done everything in her life that she wanted to and she was ready for the end.  So.....even though it would be great if you are able to find something in your life that gives you a strong sense of relaxation, and I hope you do.....................with all you are doing, I don't think you'll have to look back and say I should have done this or that ---- one more thing just won't matter.

Well,  Charter is here to put in our phone line so I need to be ready to jump up in a single bound as he will be in here soon.

Hope you all have a fantastic day.

Afternoon!  Well....Christmas has arrived in South Elgin!  Still have all the outside stuff to do, and the windows but everything else is up, just was side-tracked by my 1yr old prelit tree...one section went out, so I turned the tree around so you couldn't see it!  I did buy one of those new-fangled light testers.  I plugged in that one section, pressed the trigger 8-10 times then plugged it back in to the tree and voila!  Light!  But please, oh please...NO ONE go down to my basement!!!!  Good thing it is not finished and is only used for storage anyway!

Laura...you sound soooo much better!  I missed the old LauraLu.  Can't wait to peek at the mag...

Yep Princess Juliet...high speed internet is THE BOMB!  Zip, zip, zip...so many thngs to read, so little time!

    JanClare...how are you doing?

Blackjack...sounds like Jen is having a fantastic time in LV, bet you wish you were there instead of here in dreary Chicagoland.  I have been having a discipline problem with the bears...they are fighting over who gets to come to the party.  But I am going to sit them down this weekend and have a little talk with them.  Wonder if I need child seats for them?  I think there is a bearlaw in effect here in Illinois.

Just a little note...went to Menards this am and got simply beautiful pointsettias. 5"" pot for $2.49 and 8-9" for $9.99 (really BIG!).

Hope you all have a wonderful day and you are feeling as well as is possible.  Ladies who ae doing the big dinner...don't stress too much.  It's only dinner and everyone will love everything and the only thing most people will remember is that they ate too much and/or who won the football game!

Wendy, I had almost forgot that we BOTH have a very LARGE family of bears!!! It's a constant battle keeping them happy!! LOL My MIL ( almost 90 yrs old) is in assisted living.  She  has a lot of her old baby clothes. So every month I take 1 bear and dress it up in her baby stuff and take it to her. That way every month she has a different bear in a different outfit! ( the bears LOVE the attention!!)

    LittleC any test results yet?

Carol, Your Mom is about 300 to 350 miles from me! When do you start chemo?

I better get busy will try to check in more often

    Hi Ladies,

Well, bummer.  I'm not going to be able to make it to the luncheon after all.   My work schedule is almost full for that day.  Mondays are a bad day to try and block appointment times!  I thought about running down there for my lunch hour, but I think I'd rather just wait until I can actually relax and meet everyone rather than run in and run out.  Thanks for the welcome, and hopefully I'll be able to make it next time.  I hope you guys have a great time.  LOVE that place.

LauraGTO - They are doing the BSGI at N.W.Community now as well (or so my surgeon has told me) so I'll be doing it there.  Alexian Brothers also offers it.

Do you drag race?  One of my neighbors is a professional drag-racer.

Right now, I'm totally traumatized - my PC is sorta.. dead.  Frown  We had a power outage in the south end of our town on Saturday, and it fried my power supply thingy for some reason, even with a surge protector.  Until the replacement power supply part comes in, I'm reduced to sneaking on my daughter's PC (which is crazy slow compared to mine).   It's ridiculous how addicted to my PC I am!

Happy Turkey Day to everyone.  My son who is home from U of I this week had his wisdom teeth dug out today.  I told him I'll throw some turkey and stuffing in the blender for him.  Laughing

WendyK - I love that you turned around the tree (tho you got the lights working again, which is great)  !!  And I totally cracked up at the Turkey Breast comic.

Rene23 - so sorry that you won't be able to come on 12/8.

Jackie - the pie recipe sounds so good.  I love any recipe with just 7 ingredients!! Awesome. I may have to try that one for Christmas at my dad's house.

Hey our little get together is just 2 weeks away.  Hope we all don't freeeeeze by then... BRRR!  My blood is still too thin for this weather. Undecided

    Have a good night everyone!!

Morning!  Little C...getting a bit worried about you.  Please post when you have a chance.  Sending a big hug your way...

JanClare...did you get results yet?  Sending hugs your way too...

Blackjack...glad you were able to pick up some pointsettias from Menards.  I was pretty impressed with their quality.  I am stopping by again today to pick up 3 more before they are all gone.  Of course, with my black thumb...they'll probably all be dead by Christmas!  I am so happy your son is coming home for Christmas...I know your heart is lighter.

Karin...yep, I used to collect Boyds Bears.  I had at one time about 200, but I've stopped buying them and have given lots away.  My family room tree has nothing on it but white lights and the little tiny boyds bears.  They have been behaving better the past few days so I think I will allow them to come to the party. (hope I don't get stopped on the way...pretty hard to explain why I have 10 little people in my back seat.)

Elfsong...how was your 2nd chemo?  Did you get better antinausea meds?

Rene23...are you sure you can't come by, even if for just a little while?  It is so nice to put faces to names.  We would so love it if you can work it out.  DH is a principal at Centennial School in Bartlett, by the way!

Carolberrrypatch...chemo starting for you next week.  I had taxotere and carboplatin and I was extremely lucky in that the side effect fairy could never find me!  BUT....a few things that made a difference for me.....Crystal Lite lemonade got rid of that awful dirty penny taste from the tax, oasis mouthwash makes a little spray bottle that you can carry with you IF you have any trouble with mouth sores (I didn't).  If you take steroids by mouth, remember to take them BEFORE 5 or 6pm so they won't keep you up at night.  I also took ativan at bedtime while on the decadron just in case and I had no trouble sleeping.  And ALWAYS take your antinausea meds, even if you feel ok.  It is sooooo much easier to prevent nausea than to try and treatment it.  AND,,,if the antinausea meds don't do their job, get on the phone and get another one...pronto.  There is almost NO reason these days to suffer nausea...almost no reason as drugs do work in the vast majority but some do have breakthru nausea.  But I'm thinking with your attitude you should do really well!

Jule...how many more rads?  It goes fast, doesn't it!

Lisamed...;are you SURE you can't call in sick on the 8th??????

I am off to run around like a chicken today.  Exercise, Menards, Jewel, laundry, housecleaning, MAYBE starting the cards then off to babysit for a few hours for nephews 2 "imps" then home to fix something for dinner...I'm thinking salmon in foil packets in the oven...easy and no cleanup!

Everyone...have the best day!  And remember...I am very thankful for each and everyone of you, everyday!

Michele, no the remodeling is not finished yet! I'm working with a snail's contractor, and I'm getting REALLY impatient!!!

I'm off to New York for Thanksgiving, and I want to wish you all a beautiful holiday before I go. Hoping to see many of you at lunch on the 8th as it sounds like great fun.

To those in tx, hang in there. I'm thinking of you all, and sending positive vibes your way.

    HAPPY THanksgiving to all!

Good Tuesday morn to everyone.  Sun is out so I'm stoked pretty much.  A little running to do today.  Got to buy a little food for the holiday.  Hope you all have a splendid day.

    Hi everyone

Looking forward to lunch on the 8th.

I'm off to my first round of "post" treatment appts. See the breast surgeon at 4pm and the PS at 7:30 (not really "post" with him, but it's been 3 wks and that's the longest stretch so far).  In particular, I find out from BS what kind of surveillance protocol he wants me to follow. I also wonder what he is going to think of this reconstruction and the problem spot (still not healing too well).  I have not been back to the breast center at Glenview since the original diagnosis and I find myself less than eager to return.

The kids are off of school/daycare for the week and Dave and I have been juggling. I have them tomorrow and then we are all over the place Thanksgiving. Dave's Dad is housebound, so we are bringing TG brunch to him and then up to Deerfield to join the rest of my family. Cooking for the first and bringing pies for the second (thank you Baker's Square)  I need a clone!  Hope everyone has a wonderful day....

    Hi all,

Wendy, I am thinking of taking off to join the lunch, or maybe drive in early and take a 1/2 day.  I am kind of waiting to see what day they are doing a gingerbread house project at my little guy's school, because I need to take that day off also.

    What time is the lunch?

I have been reading the posts.  I am anxious to see how JanClare's scans come out.  I am super busy.  I am off tomorrow and getting a massage at 9:00.  I have had a gift certificate for 3 years and figure now is a perfect time to go.

YAHOO!!!  Just wanted to let you all know that my scans were clear.  WHEW!!

And let me say how much I love my breast surgeon, Dr Rosen- I went to see him about setting up removal of my port, and I told him that I still didn't have my results from the oncologist.  He immediately got his nurse to get on the phone to the hospital and within 5 minutes he had the results with copies for me to take home.  Seriously, I like my oncologist, but I wish Dr. Rosen was my main doctor- instead I don't have any reason for follow-up except for stuff like this port removal.

My port removal is scheduled for December 23rd, plus he is also going to remove some scar cording/ lumps on the right side that is painful.  Hard to believe that after 2 years, I'm going to be port free!

Wishing everyone a Happy Thanksgiving and looking forward to our lunch on the 8th!

YEA!!!!  Good news for JanClare.  I am SO happy that the results were good.  Now, take a deep breath and just go right on with you life!  You can enjoy Thanksgiving now and you'll be getting a "port removal" for Christmas!   SUPER!!

Jule....7 down, that's good.  I'm assuming that it's been pretty uneventful so far.  I always felt like a slab of meat that got tugged from one side of the table to the other.  LOL

I imagine that all of you have a busy day scheduled for today.  I have desserts and deviled eggs to make and beds to get ready.  My family will be coming in early this evening.  I'm helping at Wendy the Younger's Community Cancer Center benefit so I need to get the Thanksgiving preps done before lunch.  I hope we make alot tonight at the WAM Scramble for Hope.

I want to wish each and everyone of you a Happy Thanksgiving!  Enjoy the day with family and friends and think about how wonderful life really is!

Hugs to everyone.....and especially those in treatment.
