Oh Juliet....Buster is such a cuteheart though like you ,I think he looks a wee bit disgruntled.  Ah, better times are coming little guy.

Speaking of better times....glad to be home and in one piece....so much ice out here after the rain.  Since they said it was going to be warmer....I didn't even think about ice.  By the time I reached my car.....oh so carefully and slowly I figured I might as well go on into town and get my check.....same distance to get back to the house as it was to get to the car so I figured the only way to make it worthwhile was not give up.  It was slow going....and I did get my feral kitties fed too.  I worried about falling but that didn't happen.  Saw my old boss at work and he was mortified to see me out ---- I didn't give him the 'make it worth it' line because I didn't want to have to watch him shake his head and roll his eyes.  He was driving his wife around who is a very good driver as he thought she might not make it.   So ok ----- I was foolish, but me and my car are in one piece and that's what matters.

    See ya'll later.

Yep, that Buster is a cutie!  You need to give him some extra treats, Julie for his famous reindeer pose!  LOL   Hey, half the ironing is still sitting in the pile.  How'd you do today with the laundry?  :-)

Jackie, glad you're home safely and that you got those cats fed.  Now that Wendy has the fairies out and working, things should improve for all of us!  LOL  I've been in all day so I think I'm going to bribe Dave to help me get groceries when he gets home.  Usually he caves in if I offer a free meal out!  Pretty tacky on my part, eh?

Karin, I bet you thought you'd left Illinois!  Hang in there!  Even if you don't like this latest trick from Mother Nature, you're one tough Illinois gal and you can weather the storm!  LOL

    Catch you all later.

Hi girls! Puter is up and running... we're in the middle of a blizzard... but it sure is gorgeous out there!  Took me 4-EVA to catch up with you chatty Kathies.... wanted to wish you all a wonderful holiday - but  most important... a HEALTHY new year... busy preparing food for tomorrow... everyone's coming here... missed you all...

Hey Laura - glad to see you back!  Enjoy yourself tomorrow & have a wonderful time.

Rita - I did 2 loads of laundry, and that's about it.   And shoveled 2x already.  So I haven't been totally lazy.  If you got 1/2 of your ironing done, well heck that's pretty good.

Jackie - wow, so you got out there & took a little road trip ?  You are brave - we are glad you are back home safe, sound, and warm.

By the number of posts I've made today, you can tell that I haven't been doing a whole lot of housework today, lol

And Buster thanks you all for the compliments :)  Today is his b-day too!!!   Well - we don't know his actual b-day, but 12/23 is the date we adopted him, so we consider this his b-day.

    Hi girls,

Are you loving this winter weather we are having. Not me...I was sooo upset that my son's flight was cancelled today and that he couldn't get home for 2 days.. I spent 3 hrs on the phone with the airlines....but an angel came threw and got him on a fight tomorrow am ( last seat on the plane) so I am praying for this snow to stop and get him home. So Wendy bring out the snow be gone fairy troops and let the snow let up a bit for me. I truly understand now when your kids live out of state how nerve raking it is around the holidays. I was more upset knowing that he would be alone on the holiday as all his freinds have gone home. Just a mom thing..

I am trying to finish up the cooking today as everyone is coming tomorrow. I guess I need to distress tonight. I hope everyone is having a great evening....stay warm..enjoy the snow from inside and wishing you all a happy holiday.

Remember to be healthy..be happy and as Mich stated Merry Christmas to my Illinois BC Sisters.

Mich101 - Buster thanks you so much for the b-day wishes.

Blackjack - I'm so sorry your son's flight was delayed, but that is wonderful that he got on a flight tomorrow a.m.    Some people are waiting 2, 3 days to get on new flights, so you are right, an angel is definitely upon your (and your sons!) shoulder helping things along.

DH just got home after 13.5 hours of snow duty.. and he has to go back in 7 hours.  I can hear him in the shower, whistling right now...  man, that guys has a great attitude.  Or maybe he's just going a bit looney?? LOL!!!!!  Surprised  Just kidding....

To everyone traveling, please take your time & go slow.  Hugs, Juliet

Morning!  I think we got about 6" of new snow and this am we have fog and rain!  More moisture coming on the radar I see and it's going to be 2 tonight so icy!

Blackjack...fingers crossed for your son...but I think he will get home OK.

    Wonder if Connie got out?????

Juliet....happy belated BD to Buster!  If you are looking for something to do, my basement is a total mess.  I would gladly pay anyone anything to organize.

Karin...be careful.  Looks nasty up by you.

Laura....glad your puter is back and I bet everything is so very pretty out by you.

Jackie...glad you made it back home safe and sound.  Ice is not anyone's friend unless it's in a glass  LOL

I am going to have another cup of coffee and just sit and veg.  Everything is done but I want to blow that last 2" of snow/slush before I shower and I guess 6:20 on Christmas Eve morning is too early to start up that bad boy.  Everyone...be careful out there!

And the Grinch, with his Grinch-feet ice cold in the snow, stood puzzling and puzzling, how could it be so? It came without ribbons. It came without tags. It came without packages, boxes or bags. And he puzzled and puzzled 'till his puzzler was sore. Then the Grinch thought of something he hadn't before. What if Christmas, he thought, doesn't come from a store. What if Christmas, perhaps, means a little bit more.

Good morning gals!  It's a mess out there!  I was so relieved to get a call from my son telling me they had made it to Nebraska O.K.  They are celebrating tonight and tomorrow with my DIL's family and will be back our way late on the 26th if the weather permits.

It looks like I'll be both cooking and cleaning today as my cleaning lady just called and said she can't get out of her drive.  She lives in a rural area, too, so floors and bathrooms, here I come!  LOL  I'm not going to worry about it too much as it will be a mess as soon as the little guys get here and the package opening begins!

If I don't get back to you today, everyone have a fantastic holiday.  Merry Christmas dear sisters!

Good Rainy morning.. from southern Illinois--Little Egypt--the ice is gone and it is even a bit mushy on the ground.  Who'da thought....after all the slipping and sliding yesterday.  Frankly --- it seems little like Christmas to me or more like the ones we knew for so long ( 25 years ) in southern California.  I did say before though....that this year since I finished my txs in July has seemed like X-mas every day anyhow.  I have a few errands today that I let slide yesterday when I found it was so bad so it will be a whole lot easier today.  Our office is closed today which is why I went yesterday.  Un-like many people ----  I seldom believe our weather reports.  I'm not sure of all the reasons since there is Doeppler--?sp--radar etc. but often we don't get the "prediction".  Otherwise could have had Lois leave my check in a drawer at work and I could have picked it up today and done that as well.  Just wasn't at all sure we'd have a mushy ground rather than a slick one.

We will ( or if Dh has to work ) I will go over to my cousin Mary's house to share a family Christmas dinner with them on Saturday.  Couldn't get everyone together until then......so even though I will cook here ( in my toaster oven to some extent ) on the 25th. the good food will just keep on coming.  That will be great.  Just hope decent weather holds out --- Mary's daughter, husband and triplets ( born a very short while after Dh and I moved back here 11 years ago ) live in Rantoul, Illinois and will be coming down.....everyone else is much closer.

Wendy....your such a good person to let your vampires have their peace and quiet.  Just have to pray they never get a snow-blower.

Well I'm going to run along and get my second cup of coffee---Dh was gone when I awoke which was just in time to serve breakfast to all the livestock here.  I hope you all have a good day --- that family gets home from wherever they are and that your Christmas Eve is special for you no matter what is going on.  Last year this time my heart was full of fear and confusion --- this year it is full of health and the love and well wishes of all of you.  It is coming back at you  and to all those who were not here this time last year......my X-mas wish for you is that you will soon join those done with txs and show nothing from all your tests but vibrant good health and in the words of the Macguire sisters:

May you always walk in sunshine

Slumber warm when night winds blow,

May you alway live with laughter

for a smile becomes you so.

May good fortune find your doorway,

May the Bluebird sing your song

May no trouble travel your way,

May no worry stay too long.

I wish for you all everything that is good and all that is positive and that all the problems and negative things just curl up in a ball and roll far far away.  ALWAYS.

    Merry Christmas Eve.

    I'll check in later.

    Love,  Jackie

Hey Wendy - Brian would probably tell you not to tease me about coming to organize your basement.... because I'm an organizational (okay - control - )  freak....  lol

Only saw DH for about 1 hour last night; he's gonna be beat when he finally gets home today.   So we'll see if we get out for our traditional Sushi Xmas Eve dinner... I'll leave it up to him ;)

Just wanted to wish everyone a very Happy Christmas!!!     I'm grateful to have all of you in my life & wish the best to all of you.

Hugs, Love, & Peace...   Juliet - and Buster too!!!  He thanks you all for being so nice to his mommy.

Hi Ladies..Just wanted to stop by and let you know that my son is home and I am soooooo happy. He surprised me with his diploma from school and know he is officially a Chef. I cried when I saw it. I know that my angel was watching over him and me as I tired to get him home.

This is the best present ever to have your family with you. He is now cooking in my kitchen for tonight and it smells yummy...I just want to wish each and everyone of you a wonderful holiday with  your families. Thank you for being in my life, for your support and friendship. May you all have good health and happiness this holiday season.

Happy Holidays and have a wonderful New Year.

Blackjack, I'm so happy your son made it home!

I wish a wonderful holiday to all the terrific Illinois ladies on this thread.

I'm cooking a turkey today...DH's b-day. Like you Wendy, I am grateful that he is healthy and doing well. He's 71 today, YIKES! Also, he is at the hospital as usual, and he is on call. What else is new?

Stay safe and warm, hugs, Pat

    Happy Holidays to all.

It's been a long time since I've posted here, but I usually read this thread a few times a week.  I'm from Lake County, Illinois, north of Chicago, near the Wisconsin boarder.   I'm a single mom with two sons in college.

We are enjoying the holidays together.

Blessings to all of you and your families/friends.  Peace to all...

    Merry Christmas Wendy.....thank you

    Good Morning ladies...

I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday with your family and friends. I know I sure did. It was very busy but I wouldn't have it any other way. We had 50 people for dinner incl. the kids and it was fun. My son the chef craved the 2 turkeys and goose and that looked amazing. There were so many cooks in the kitchen and no room to move around .lol In all it was fun. Today is a chill day...no going out for me..

Off for another cup of coffee.. hope everyone has a wonderful day.
