Wendy, I'm going to check out that Japonica and see what it looks like.  Some of the plants that I'm currently looking at are Coral Bells, Astilbe, jacob's ladder, Japanese Sweet Flag, Japanese Maple Bloodgood, ajuga, red osier (known commonly as red twigged dogwood.)  I really like the red dogwood.  It is not leafy and bushy as a shrub, but has red stems that retain their color all winter long.  Of course all the nurseries suggested hydrangea so I have more to select from that I thought.  Now I need to see how I would arrange them and get busy.  It was so cool and yucky here today that I wasn't motived to get out and search anymore.  And as for the convertible top, you now have me so worried that I think I'll run out to the garage and see if it is indeed still working!  I got a chuckle out of that!

Calypso...so glad to hear from you and so glad that things are going well! Stop in more often!  I've missed you!

Oh Jennifer, I was a junior high science teacher for several years and hatching critters IS so much fun!  What did you do with the chickens and quail after they hatched?

Hey Laura, the detail on that coat is gorgeous!  Pretty classy, gal!  :-)

Well, I need to get ready to go to yoga.  I'm enjoying the beginner's yoga but it meets at 5:30 and that interrupts the dinner schedule around here!

Hello Ladies.  I would like to welcome our new friends.  This is the right place to be.  My surgery is a go for tom.  I just got back from Oncologist he saw how swollen my had was and  sent me back to the hospitol for an ultrasound.  He thought I had a blood clott.  It was fine.  But it gave me a scare!!!  Thank you for your well wishes and warm thoughts for me tomorrow.  Love you gals.  Buddy

Wow.....so much happens here in such a short amount of time. I know I have not been on board long, and don't know everyone yet but..... So sorry to read about

buddy1- having to go through all that infection stuff, glad it is working itself out and I wish you nothing but good wishes for your surgery.

donna-losing the hair does not mean losing control.I think it takes a lot of control to take the clippers to it.  I hope you are feeling better about things now.

Christi- welcome to you....I am new here too. Everyone has been so nice.

I guess I have to read some more, but just wanted to peak in while I was up to it. I have must have caught something on that flight back from Vegas, as I have been sick with the flu every since I got back. Have to go in for a MUGA scan tomorrow, but off the rest of the week. How I wish a laundry fairy would show up at my house!!

Take Care Ladies......Hope to pop back in here soon!!

I have another question??? My head is dry and flakey, (hold the jokes)Ha Ha.  I quit using shampoo..I have just been using Dove bar soap. I thought that would be moisturizing.  But its not doing the trick. I am a total flake head.  What can i use.  I do have like razor stubble short hair.

giglgrl  good luck with your mugascan

Donna.  i know you will do great tomorrow.  You have the best attitude and oulook on this thing.  It will be over soon.  Just think 2 down.

They told me today my chemo is now being pushed back 2 weeks.   Unless its cancer and they have to open me all the way up it wilbedelayed 4-6 weeks and a new type of chemo started.

Back from St. Clair Square....oh how I love that place....so many neat stores.  Kristi....welcome to you.  I hope you like it here and will come often.  We do try to all chime in with suggestions and any kind of comfort we can provide.  If I might say so....it's a heck of a trip and I can't imagine how I would have made it through with my sanity ( I hope I do have it ) sense of humor, and other parts of me relatively intact had it not been for the love and concern of the beautiful women here.

Buddy....you are so up for all that has gone on with you.  Wish I had an answer for your scalp problem.  I remember having some of that myself but don't recall what I did....keep thinking I used moisturizing lotion but I was using so much of that all over ---  probably did give up and put it on my head too.

Saying hi to Connie...lucky you getting to go back to Florida...probably not raining there.

Hi to Jennifer and Liz too ---  have you been in the rain the past couple of days....getting so tiresome.  More will come too....drat and double drat.

Well, I need to run and catch up on a bunch of things....couple of calls on my phone....I think someone wanting me to do housework.  I have tried to get out of that....feeling like the time and strength are not there for me as they once were.....going to have to think about it.

Anyway, I'll be checking in later.

    Hugs,

    Jackie

Hello again!  Looking for a pic and I found this one, again, of DH some years ago from New Year's Eve....he doesn't drink hence the lampshade on his head!

Calypso...OMG....how the heck are you?  I remember you so well as you did not want to do ANYTHING!  Please keep reading about our newbies and if you see someone who thinks like you did, please chime in.  You have so much to offer!  Glad that you are doing so well.

Connie...boating weather soon!  Sorry we won't get to see you on the 20th and you will be out of town, again??????  Lucky girl!

    Susan...I sent you a PM.

Rita....I bought 2 Summersweet bushes...they said good in partial to heavy shade and damp soil as well, with fragrant flowers in June so I think it will work on the N side of my deck and maybe for you as well.  Let me know what else you come up with.....they had no Japonica at my nursery.  I think it's a good thing to always check out stuff BEFORE you need it...and that includes our convertible motors!!!!!  Don''t want top be sitting in your driveway on a sunny 80 degree day saying....WTH!!!

    Blackjack...where you at, girl?

Jackie...I sent you a PM as well.

Buddy/Lefty - fingers crossed for tomorrow.

Donna....hope the decadron lets you sleep tonight!

Jennifer....yes, the killer swans!  Funny stuff-----if you want to hear, I'll send you a PM...I've already told it here a few times!  There is also a dragonfly up my nose and a dead squirrel involved.....

Time to check and see if I can finish mowing the back lawn...waaaaay too wet around noon...the mower sunk!

WendyK13  - Yes, please PM me - it sounds too intriguing to miss!   Your posts make me laugh so I am sure this will be a hoot.    Good luck with the mower!  HAHA!!   Didn't you have snow like 2 weeks ago?   (I keep conjuring up the snowman with the noose!)  HAHA!

ritajean - We have a "farm" here where we can keep all the critters.   Thankfully.   They keep multiplying!  We enjoy the chickens as they are really cool entertainment for a 7 year old and supply delicious fresh organic eggs for us.   No hormones there!    I am not quite sure what we are going to do with the quail.   My husband has hunted wild quail and I have to tell you they taste way better than chicken.  Sooooo - the plan is to "harvest" some of them when they are fully grown but my DD might have other thoughts!    We hatched out 25 total.

IllinoisLady - Hey there!  I know we are in for a week of the wet stuff.  Yuck!  I also shop in St Clair but I also like the West County mall and the Galleria in St Louis.   Just don't have the time to shop that often.  The last time I went there were some really great bargains!

buddy1 - I would ask the doctor what to put on your scalp.  For pete's sake, you have enough to contend with without having to deal with that too!

Have a good night everyone.   I have got to get to bed so I feel like working tomorrow.  Take Care!

    Morning ladies -

giggrl - hope you are feeling better.  Have you been checked out?  Hope it's not the swine!!!

Goodluck with the surgery buddy!  That stinks about the chemo delay.  Once you start, you just want to get it over with!  I had 6 months of it and it felt like 6 years!

Good luck with the next chemo, Donna.

Hi to everyone else!  I think of you all daily!

My DD's first communion is this Saturday.  We went to the practice last night and I was almost in tears watching her - what am I going to do Saturday.  She's my baby!

I hope everyone has a great day!

The ladies on this thread are awesome and have never shown any animosity to anyone.  We've rallied together to support each other from day one until now and it's always been a very positive safe place to come.  Many of us are not even aware of the bullying situation and none of us are bullies.  We have helped each other on a journey that none of us wanted to make.  With much sorrow, we rallied around another member during her last months on this earth.  We continue to grow in numbers and continue to offer friendship and support to anyone who posts.  This has become a haven for us.  Since we don't condone and practice bullying here, let's not let this issue cloud our thread.  Yes, everyone is entitled to your opinion and not everybody agrees on all issues.  However, perhaps it would be better to drop the current issue on the posts and direct your opinions on the matter to those directly involved in PM's or e-mails.  In fact, maybe that's a good rule to follow.  If you have a major difference in opinion with somebody of if somebody says something that really upsets you, go directly to that person instead of posting it on the thread and involving others that are not initially involved.

Hugs to all of you!  Let's let bygones be bygones and just go on with our daily posts in the same spirit that we have always done.  I don't know what I would do without all of you and there is no room on here for negativity.  We have MUCH MORE IMPORTANT battles to fight.

Hi everyone.....Connie....I'll be thinking about you Saturday.  I almost have tears in my eyes for you.  I do know that at first our children's growing up years can seem a little slow, but then poof....so many milestones later and we wonder who the time thief was that made away with our/their life.

Don't want to be the voice of doom and gloom but guess there is maybe some of the flu in the Chicago area.....so please, especially so those doing chemo right now, be careful.

I'm thinking of all of you.....and all those doing txs today or tomorrow......

    Hugs,

    Jackie

Let's all stop around 4:30 today and give a hug (even if we are hugging space) for Buddy1 who faces surgery.  Keep hugging and we will  discover we are also giving a hug to ourselves.

elf_song -  No, I don't sing opera.  I sing with a gospel group.  I don't consider myself talented.  I just enjoy singing, promoting a positive happy message and meeting people from all over the region.   It is a lot of fun and therapeutic!    Your wig looks awesome on you!   You look so young.   I am sure your DH thinks you are a hottie!  HAHA!   Your boys are so cute!   They are adorable.   Even in all of what we go through each day with BC we can still count our blessings.    When I was at my lowest, I kept reminding myself of all the wonderful things I have in my life.   My family, friends, church family, freedom, home, job and access to the best health care in the planet. (To name a few.)  What if we lived in a different country where we didn't have that opportunity?   I am not saying you don't count your blessing because I believe you do.  Just sharing my thoughts.   Hugs to you!   BTW: I also had a parakeet as a child.  It lived several years.  I just love birds.  Are you still planning to move to NM?

Buddy - sending you the very best wishes today as you face surgery.

Thanks for the kind thoughts for my Mom.  Yesterday I spent the day with Mom at the cardiologist, and we convinced her into the hospital for a few days to figure out the game plan.  She needs lots of tests before they can figure out how to safely treat her. Just wanted to let u know what's up - between that & my job search, I probably won't find a whole lot of time to chat with you gals :(

    Take care everyone... Juliet

Treatment # 2 is done! Decadron Wendy, did not keep me up. Take the last one tonight. Thank you everyone sending me the well wishes.

My main concern is how Buddy is doin and anxious to hear from her!!Buddy.. for your scalp issue.. i was recommended to use Neutorgena's T/E Gel shampoo, it is specific for what you are experiencing!! You are dealing with enough!!! Don;t worry about your chemo being delayed. Your body needs time to restore and rest!!! Build yourself up a little more will be the best thing!!!

Take Neulasta tomm and faitigue is next and that is ok, i know the pattern at least.

This weather is awfiul but i won;t feel guilty if i have to rest on couch this week!!!

Be well all and healthy thoughts to all...

What a cloudy day....   hi, ladies..

I totally agree with you Rita...  A~ MEN..

Jennifer- oops~ I think I got confused between you and JulieB.. sorry~! Tongue out  BTW, I love to sing too..  Music has been all my life not because of I am talented, because I love music especially when it comes to singing.. I used to go to church when we're in las vegas,I joined the choir even though I didn't know much about gospels and became one of the soloist at the church.. ha.  Singing is fun and makes me happy and also, worry free zone..  That was best time of my life, gosh..   I miss that so much..   Since we moved up here I haven't gone to church (god, forgive me~ Tongue out I've been so lazy lately)   Like you said, Even in all of what we go through each day with BC we can still count our blessings..  of course, I am sooooooooo there...  Of course my DH thinks I am hottie (he better~! Tongue out)  He is a such nice man and I still remember when we first met..   About moving to NM, we are thinking about it..  The other day my dh told me he heard the rumor at work he got the job at nm but he had no idea where that rumor came from.. I wish somebody will say something or at least let my dh know what's going on..

Buddy- It's getting close to your surgery time and I am here praying for you..  can't wait till hear form you again.. hang in there and sending you a BIG WARM HUG~~~ and SMILE~!

Big hugs and smiles for everybody else too~!~!

Donna - Best wishes to you the next few days... hope tx#2 isn't too bad.

Wendrew - You can share that photo with us ANYTIME! lol I love it!

HI GIRLS... don't forget - let us know about May 20th... I will e-mail you all a reminder. I know I wanted cold weather - selfishly - so I could wear my coat... but I NEED THE SUN! lol And I know WE ALL DO! lol... so I am relinquishing my request... BRING ON THE HEAT... BRING IN THE SUN... lol Have a good evening...

I did my hug for Buddy1, did you? I know Elfsong did! It is not too late!   It is like the silly foot twirly thing.

I was alone in my classroom at 4:30 and just hugged space and then pulled the hug in and I had my arms wrapped around myself. Prior to that, I locked the door as I teach 8th grade and they would find this soooooooo  AMUSING.  One thing about growing older is that kids are totally cool about the fact that I am not at all cool.  They accept me because I give them so much love.....like a grandparent.  Discovering me hugging myself, however, would be gossip material for even the kindest 8th grader.

Connie, I hear you about the communion.  Tell us about your DD's dress or do they still dress in sweet, white dresses and precious white MaryJane shoes?  I remember when I went bridal gown hunting with my DD.  I had the same feelings you felt at the communion rehearsal.  This was my first baby.  Whatever happened to those years between the christening dress and the wedding gown?  You will weep.  Those tears will be tears of joy as you will know you are  so privileged to be her mother.  She eventually will know that she is  so privileged to be your daughter.

I cannot do the May 20th thing.  My childhood friend is coming that week from California to hold my hand (and bike, and do theater, and eat at good restuarants, etc.) for those last retirement parties I must face.Doing retirment is fine....facing the fanfare is hard.
