Hello all - snowy day here and glad to be inside, but glad we are not getting what they predict for DC area. My MIL lives in southern Va with BIL. They may get 20 inches.
Had a minor scare this week. I found a lump on my shoulder and it had started changing colors. Went to doc and news was good. Just a cyst and had formed some pus on top and that was why color change. Nothing to worry about. It opened later in evening and drained and now looks much better. Glad it was nothing, but better safe than sorry with our history. New week will be the anniversary of my surgery that got the clean margins, so I guess that is 1 year cancer free. I also talked to onc this week and March 16th will be my last herceptin. Hurrah. One Feb 23 and then the one in March. I will be very glad to be done and hope my joints feel better when I am done. Onc also tested me for Vit D levels, but it is a test they have to send out, so results were still not back on Thursday when I saw regular doc. This is first time he has tested for that. I am taking 1000 calcium and 1000 Vit D per day. I hope everyone else is doing well. I hope we have nice weather for our cruise in March. I see Rita has had weather in the 70's this week in FL. I am ready for spring to be here. Hugs to all. Annette

Morning all....wow..that wind was howling last night. We have a bit of ice with a dusting of snow over that so I am guessing the roads (and sidewalks) right now are very slippery, so you all be careful out there.
Lunch was great yesterday....and for all our protests that we did not want dessert, once JanClare went ahead and ordered the "dessert flight" as her treat....yeah, well...you know what happened! It was soooo good! Everyone looks great as usual and yak, yak, yak! Hated going out in the "snain" tho!
Annette...everytime anything pops up, we now go to the scary, dark side don't we! Glad your lump was nothing to worry about. I do remember my last Herceptin...I was sitting in the infusion chair, calling my surgeon to schedule the port removal...with my onc's blessing! I never really had any se's from the H but I was soooo glad to get the port out. It was always uncomfortable for me...always. Let us know re: your D levels!
Buddy...Laura got you the explanation re: Vit D and D3 and might I add something I learned from Pat (smerf)? Vit D is fat-soluble so get the D3 gel caps as they will be more readily absorbed. The gel caps are about $1. more a bottle but still a bottle of 120 for me is only $7.99 at walgreens and I stock up when they are buy one-get one free! I have been taking 1000U, twice a day and I will have my D levels drawn (again - lab goofed up) Monday and then I will see where I am. Laura and I made a bet yesterday as to what my level will be...she guessed 35, I guessed low to mid 60's so we shall see! I think the bet was that if she is right, I give her a dollar. If I am right, I get her house in the woods.
BJ....did you add some apps to your new toy yet???? Tap Farm is very addicting....silly, but addicting!
Rita...you bum! Glad you are having such a nice time....
Susan...as I type I am watching "Designing Woman" with Lauren Bacall and Gregory Peck! Great movie and oh! Her clothes! Gorgeous....
After the movie I am off to.....well, I don't know! Maybe a trip up to Classic Oak Designs at 14 and 176 in Crystal Lake, just to look! Maybe just hunker down and do some reading...with the winds at 30mph (gusts) staying inside looks like a better idea! Have a great day y'all!

Annette -- Glad you popped in! Great to "hear" you're doin well. I am curious...did your Onc suggest the Vit D test or did you request it?
Budder & Wendrew - I also, love the gel tabs. In fact, all my supplements are gel.
Wendrew - Just to verify...this is the first VitD test for you? AND...I could swear our "bet" is that if I am right, I get your hot convertible! LOL If you're right, you get my house in the woods, the mortgage payments, the $16,000 annual property tax bill and I'll throw in the pain-in-the-arse little doggie. LOL Also...this might be a little far for you, but well worth the trip: http://www.capacciobros.com/ It's a great - reasonably priced furniture store. What specifically are you in the market for?
----------------------------------
Yesterday at lunch we talked about the fact that "it's always something"...well sure enough I jinxed myself. Last night I sliced my finger - ring finger RIGHT HAND OF COURSE - on the lid of a cat food can. Dang...it is so frickin' sore! lol Typing is quite difficult, because the "slice" is on the tip of my finger. I've had to correct WAY too many typos here this morning! Feel like I'm all thumbs. lol I hope it heals quickly - don't have a lot of patience with this. I put three "butterfly" strips on it to hold the skin together...borderline stitches. I hate crap like this! lol Was going to get my nails done today in prep for a dinner dance tonight...but ouchy...don't think I could let her touch my finger and having only 9 fingers done would not be acceptable. Oh well! lol
----------------------------------
Have a nice day - although yes, it is going tp be a Winnie-The-Pooh day!

You guys are awesome. Nan I am glad the lump is a cyst. I know how scared you must have been. Laura I am so glad I asked You sure know your vitamins. Wendy I think you got a pretty good bet going. Thanks for the walgreens tip. I am going this morning. I have been taking a calcium 600 with vit, D 400 combined in one pill. I try to take twice a day. Problem is i dont think its d3 iot just says d. The doc has never mentioned the 3 to me. But I have heard you girls talking about it. So i figured you know more than I do about it. So I guess I will seek out calcium only pills then Vitamin d3 only pills. take 2 seperate pills Is that what you all are doing I also want the gel kind. Do they have calcium in gel. The tablets are so big and hard to swallow. I am going to try to make a cake and decorate it for the superbowl. Ha Ha. I am making cookings now but my kids are eating them as fast as I can make them. Are any of you going to any parties tomorrow or having one? Its all about the commercials Ha Ha Ha

Its me again!!! one more thing. What are you mascetomy reconstruction girls doing about breast screenings. Do you get mamograms or Mri's or nothing at all?
0 -
No reconstruction for me...TOO CHICKEN!

Now I know why I retired. After the week of teaching I need two days to recuperate just to go back on Monday. I am actually enjoying the kids and the teachers I adore, but it is wearing . I have another week and then I am a free bird. I forgot all the drama that occurs in the life of a junior high girl! Tears spill from out of nowhere and "friend issues" are huge.
Glad you had fun at the lunch.
Buddy, just had the lumpectomy but I get a breast mri once a year. At six months I get a mammo and then six months later I get the mri. I have more confidence in the mri in that the mammo never showed any problems when there were significant ones.
Have a wonderful weekend. I hope this find everyone well and happy!

I'm back harping on this vitamin thing again...sorry. My hubby just brought home a 2 bottle pack promo of the d3 1000 units. soft gels. Perfect right????? I read the label. It says it contains soy. WHAT???? Do they have to put that stuff in everything. I bought some atkins bars and they contained it too. I called the company and they had 1 serving in each bar. How can we avoid it. There is soy in everything. Even in the cake frosting I used today. Us hormone cancer girls are suppose to steer clear of it. I guess I will just suck it up and take the d's . Thanks for listening to me rant.

Massage as always was wonderful!!!I My body absorbs it like a sponge. My joints are an issue.!!!My new DR is recommending 10 chiro sessions and then retest to see if there is improvemnet as there is a elevated point in test by neck and lower back and can cause alot of the pain as it travels to other parts of body.
Black Jack..This new DR is amazing. Not on alot of supplements more like detoxing vials and some homeopathic tabs to do sublinqually. The main supplement am on is for my adrenals and improving my dopamine and serotoin levels and all in central nervous system issues. Finally gettin sleep and feel so much calmer and normal like before my DX and feel relief!YES HOT stone massages are the best!!!!!Know them well~!
Hope ALL are well this weekend. Weather is changing for sure and hope that does not change too much for us this week! FOR all those in treamtent, appts and tests etc.. healthy wishes being sent!!!
Hugs,
Donna

Buddy, I use soy milk on all my cereal and in some cooking. I don't know if there are any absolute no's.....but I do think there is probably lots of things that should be done in moderation and/or not too often. I do think soy may be overdone in much of our food -- but it is not the only thing. All soda is sweetened with high fructose corn syrup as it is a far cheaper sugar than regular cane sugar. We are a nation of adulterated foods -- much that is pure junk. I think if you get as many raw foods ( fiber types ) in your diet as you can, you will minimize the effect of some of that soy in everything as well as many other un-wanted or un-needed by our body add ins.
Also.....good old water. Drink plenty of it. It helps dilute and flush out much of what is not really very good for you. I'm re-learning to drink the water I loved so much before I ruined my taste for it with chemo. It has been a slow process, but sometimes I drink water for breakfast -- after I have had a cup or two of coffee first -- and there is a habit that I'll probably never really break.
Take care.
Hugs, Jackie

Buddy-I had a unilateral mast with immed. lat. flap recon in Dec. 06. My followups consist of a mamo. on the 'good' side once a year and 6 months after that I go for an MRI(both). I too would not trust a mamo only for me because my cancer was not detected with the mamo. What is your doctor recommending for you?
Ladies, thanks for all the info on the D3 and other suppl. I will ask my doctor at my next appt. to check my levels. I currently only take a multvit, that's it! Well, and tamoxifen. I am so bad with taking any supps. I am curious about the question about their being soy in some of these. I don't remember to take my calcium either. I really need to get one of those weekly reminder boxes and force myself to do it. Keep reminding me please!!!
Have a great SuperBowl Sunday!!

Laura - this was first vit D test - so I have no idea where the test results will be. The onc is the one who suggested it. He has had me taking calcium and VitD. I have been taking the os-Cal chewable which is 500 of calcium and 500 of vit D3. I take one twice a day. I have trouble with the binders used in some medicines, so the chewables work great for me. Other wise I look for something that comes in a capsule so I don't have to worry about the binder they use in the pill. They are lemon flavor so not hard to take.
My port hasn't been too bad, but will be glad to get it out. My biggest worry is that they usually take them out in surgeons office with a local, and I have had a reaction the last 3 times I have had a local, so I am not so sure I want to do this just in his office.
I will call and talk to his nurse in the next week or so to see what they have to say.
I have been to a couple web sites where people who have had herceptin talk about SE's. My onc does not belive my knee problems are from the herceptin, but they were not there when all of this started. There were several people who said that joint pain was one of their SE's and most say they recovered 90% within 4 to 6 weeks of stopping the herceptin. I sure hope that happens for me. I have had to get a disabled permit for my car because I can no longer walk long distances or stand for any length of time. I have bought a walker to take along on our cruise, so that I can stop and sit when I am tired. I probably should have waited until after the herceptin was done for the cruise, but I would rather go to costa rica and panama when i appreciate the weather being warm instead of it being to hot to enjoy later in the year after the herceptin wears off. One nice thing about a cruise is you only have to do what you want to do.
You can sit in lounge chairs and read. Swim, which is good for the knees. Watch the shows in the evenings and my husband always enjoys the daily cooking demos. We have 4 stops and have arranged a couple of tours that have limited walking that i can do without any problem and will let us see some of aruba and curaco. The panama canal will be plenty visible from on the boat. We have not decided yet what we will do in costa rica. Their are a couple bus tours or we can just stay in the town of limon where we dock. It does not seem like we leave in just over 3 weeks.
I have tried to avoid soy as much as possilbe. If you look you can find products that do not contain soy. I had to look for a while to find salad dressing without soy. most said soy or canola oil and would not specify which. Food & wine makes a raspberry vinigrette that is made with canola oil.
Keep warm. Hugs Annette

Ah....what can I say Kater -- you caught me. It's Jones Soda at Sams that has the real cane sugar in it and I have found ( don't recall the name either ) some Creame Soda at regular supermarket......but few people that I know drink that much soda. Even me....so I get Diet-Rite Zero when I do. No caffeine, no sugar other than Spenda and no salt. I try to avoid salt when possible......so
Sorry everyone -- didn't mean to be miss-leading. There is generally something for almost everyone if you are willing to hunt it down and then pay for it.
I use moderation in soda fairly easy as I did not drink much as a kid. Coffee is where I fall down, but I can't seem to get under three per day. No sugar or cream -- just black. I don't do much salt, but am a pepper addict. Sigh !!! It's always something.
The human body is marvelous for the abuse it has taken with all the additives, pesticides, and other strange things that go into food. Moderation is still the over-all key.

Morning...well, I just heard the weather report for this week. 4-8" of snow is coming our way. Lucky us. Boo!
Budders....I emailed Laura re: soybean oil and D3. Of course, I did not know that was the oil as I never looked. But...soy ( and lecithin) is in so much of everything we eat. I am not concerned about the drop of 2 of soybean oil. I think when we need to steer clear of soy that means....don't actually eat servings of it! Like tofu I guess...or soy milk or soy cheeses. I think. But then...don't forget...they came out what, about 6 weeks ago and said...wait...soy is GOOD for us! Laura does a lot of research on this so I'm sure she will pop in when she has some info.
Laura....uh, on 2nd thought...you keep your house, I will keep my paid-for car! And yes...this is my first D level. Very interested to find out what mine is....
I emailed Kater back about this thing I saw...it's on Amazon.com called Sodastream Jet Fountain and it carbonates water. You can also buy their mixes for sodas, no high fructose/no aspartame. It's $99. ...just a thought and actually, it sounds quite interesting. I don't drink much soda either...been drinking that Vfusion Diet...at least I get SOME fruits/vegetables every day! I know I wouldn't use a juicer!
Not much else going on around here. I am not a football person so just glad that there seems to be some good movies on and I am into Dan Brown's latest so I should be good and busy today.
Oh...Susan...if you are not into football either and you have comcast..."Rebecca" and Wuthering Heights" are both on this afternoon!
Have a great Sunday everyone....
Nana......Ooops....swear I would lose my head if it wasn't attached....WendyTY had LOTS of trouble with joints on Herceptin and she is much better now. I will email her Annette and maybe she can post back to you re: this, Annette. Your cruise sounds wonderful....

GOOD SUPERBOWL MORNING.
Donna your massage sounded wonderful.
Illinois lady you are right moderation is the key
mich I have never had my d levels tested either
Nana rasberry ving sounds so yummy.
Wedny yes you are so right. I guess I just get freaked cuz I dont really know how much I am getting all combined. I use to eat more soy than any one I know. Soy reg milk I would freeze the chocolate soy into popscicles. They were like fudge scicles. Soy nuts were my snack , all day. I cooked with tofu regular We only ate the immitation meat made of soy. Funny thing I was trying to be healthy and was diagnosed with cancer at 45. Doc just said to avoid soy. Thats it. No other food. I guess thats what my arimidex is suppose to be for. I need to chill........ Thanks gals.

Morning everyone....No super bowl in our house, but then most of my concentration will be on the Spaghetti dinner the House of Hope/Humane Society is doing today. I made a Wacky Cake and will take it. They will serve cake for dessert --- is they have extra's ( whole cakes ) they will raffle or sell outright. I always make chocolate/peanut butter icing for my wacky cake -- it adds a lot of spark to what would otherwise basically be a chocolate cake with chocolate icing. Fun to make...no oiling or flouring of pan either...that always makes me happy.
Kater -- glad you mentioned the soda/sugar issue. I sometimes get one-sighted when making a point. Also, I often forget that we all know different parts of things so pooling info is good. Wendy, I also think you are right about the soy. My Dh is a good case in point. I have to watch him all the time -- he is of the school if one cup is good for you....think what three cups will do. Have yet to figure out how someone so smart in so many other ways can't seem to get --- all the research is mainly in and you would be TOLD if it were three cups -- they said one for a reason. Also probably should clarify what I mean by moderation/not too often. Moderation could be a little everyday while not too often to me means maybe only a couple times a week or couple times a month -- and then not too much.
Also...they are always changing things -- At one time I only drank one cup of coffee a day. They came up with a bit more is good for you....so, started drinking three and can't seem to get away from that. Sigh !!!! I'm just going to bake another Wacky cake and eat the whole thing myself I think. Hard to keep up with the do's and don't's -- especially when they are revised so often.
The Sodastream sounds interesting. I don't do Aspartame ( allergic reaction ) comes up but I have no trouble with Splenda. Could get Whey-Low. It's a good alternative. Lots of people using Stevia but I couldn't quite get into that. Also read some people had bad reaction to it. I try to keep all sugar that I can tolerate w/o reaction ( no matter what kind ) to as much a minimum as I can -- knowing I will never willingly turn down a yummy dessert.
Ok....I have rambled on way enough. Got to get ready and get to the Moose which is where the dinner will be held and roll up my sleeves. I'll be checking in later.
Hugs, Jackie

Annette - Since this will be your first VitD test, you'll have a good baseline number to work with. The reason I asked if your Onc ordered it, is because I'm curious to know how many Dr's are starting to trust the latest research. Thanks for the info. Capsules and gel tabs work best for me too. Good luck with the port...you'll feel so much better after it's gone. Some girls have no probs with them, but like you, I hated it! Your cruise sounds AWESOME. You truly deserve it and earned it. I'm so happy for you.
Donna - Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh...there is nothing better than a good massage. I am going to treat myself soon!
Wendrew - LOL - about the bet! Can't say I don't blame you for wanting to keep your car! LOL And gee...thanks for the lovely weather report! LOL
-----------------------------------------
Good morning all! JMO and some of the other girls here...the benefits of Fish Oil outweigh the small amount of Soy in it. I often put things on the "proverbial" scale so to speak due to the magnitude of information and mis-information available.
As for drinking or eating anything that contains substantial amounts of Soy - I avoid it. On cereal or in smoothies for example, I use Almond or Coconut milk. Or sometimes Organic whole milk depending on what store I go to.
If you like to eat nuts, instead of Soy ones, you may want to consider Walnuts and Almonds (unroasted) as a substitute. And, 2 Brazilian nuts per day (unroasted) to get the daily Selenium (for Thyroid and Immune) recommendations. I had trouble finding them, but JanC said Trader Joe's sells them. (Hope I don't sound like a broken record.)
The reasons I am concerned about Soy: It is a largely genetically modified crop (GMC) and can inhibit thyroid function, and screw up our digestion. Soy is loaded with inhibitors that prevent proper protein digestion; one of which inhibits thyroid function; an acid, and Phytoestrogens which dangerously increase the estrogen hormone.
No doubt though, that there is positive information out there about Soy - you just have to come to your own conclusion.

Alll these posts are making me hungry and thirsty. The water is interesting, Jackie. At my last book club (made up of people much younger than me) there was wine. I noticed that the girls wrere drinking wine, but alternating with a glass of water. So many were doing it so I asked and I was told that is the thing to do if you are drinking. The water washes out the bad stuff in the wine.
That is my contribution...not much, I guess. I did realize that I use soy sauce a lot as Iove it. I eat lots of stir fry. I know the salt content is bad, but it is also soy, soy, soy. Another delightful food hits the dust!

Hi everyone.. I am new as I got my diagnosis yesterday.. All I know is that it's IDC about 1.5 cm and the entire lump is 4 cm... it's grade 3 doubled in 3 months... I have a 2 month old that I'm breastfeeding so I'm pumping like crazy to store what I can before I have to get treatments/surgery... Have an MRI on Tue or Wed... don't know much more yet.. other tests from the biopsy from Thurs haven't come back yet..
Question - I'm going to a breast surgeon in Highland Park.. anyone out there know if that's a good place to be or can recommend surgeons/oncologists for second opinions? I'm 39 with 3 kids age 15/13/10weeks and would HATE to lose my breast just because I'm scared.. I've been online every minute of my daughter's naps.. trying to learn as fast as possible...
Also, how likely will I be able to work? I'm the breadwinner with a very high stess CPA job in a large bank.. will I be able to function? I was due back March 1st from maternity leave.. but got a bit side-tracked here...
Any info/advice.. would be great...0 -
Hi macmac,
I'm sorry these boards are often pretty quiet on Sundays, but there is lots of support here.
You are in the toughest part right now, which is the waitng, and we've all been there. I would say to take a few deep breaths, and try to relax. I know, easier said than done. You can't really make a plan without your final path report, but you seem to be in good hands now. Your MRI and other tests should also factor in during decision making. Try not to get too ahead of yourself with internet searches, because that can be more scary than reality, and you don't have all your info yet.
As far as working goes, each of us responds differently to chemo, but many have worked through it.
I would be happy to talk with you about second opinions, as I am in your neighborhood. My tx was in "06, and I'm fast approaching my 4th anniversary here. I'm doing very well, and you will too!
Congrats on your new little bundle! I'll try to check in later, after my Superbowl friends leave.
Know that you have found the right place for support....ladies here are like none other i have found.
Hugs

Macmac, all of us will be really sad to read your story, and we like to say welcome to a club you dont want to join..........here most of our world (not me! I'm filing!, stupid me!)
is thinking superbowl and you have all this on your plate........... wishing you the best and good luck. After the dx junk....it's nice to read bernie siegle's stuff, probably at the library or your support group...It helped me to go to local support group before my surgery but probably the most help was reading stuff on here....so you know what is ahead and are educated what questions to wonder about. good luck!! You will get replies soon!

Thanks for the kind words.. Went to Babies R Us to buy some food and toys so my husband wouldn't have to figure these things out on his own in the next few months.. how bitter sweet that trip was.. though maybe I'll still be well enough for this stuff.. seems like the hardest longest weekend of my life. I am not sure how fast the surgery will happen.. and will need to decide so quickly as this thing is spreading so quickly..
Smerf - if you can recommend some Dr's in the area.. Highland Park is the closest hospital for me, but I'll drive if I need to... that would be great.. I've gotten a few names from friends today.. so I'll call tomorrow before my appt with the surgeon and make some more appointments.. I know it'll snow on Tues so will probably skip that day... winter in Illinois.. got to love it..

Hi makmak:
My breast surgeon and my oncologist (I had chemo) are both in Highland Park. I don't like to discuss doctors on the boards, so I will pm you with their names. Look for a message coming to you and just ask if you don't understand where that is.
I am 61 years old and had cancer three years ago. I was able to work throughout chemo and radiation. I was fine, but it varies for everyone. I was teaching full-time at the time. I did not go home to babies, however, and I do recall being tired. As I say, it just varies from person to person.
I am sorry you have received this bad news during what should a glorious time in your life. I live in Northbrook, so like Smerf, may be closes to you. Okay, I will now send you those names.
Susan

Welcome Marina and like Kater and the rest find it sad and wish you didn't have to be here but all the ladies are wonderful, full of lots of information and good resources. My bout' was in 07' ( hard for me to do my two days a week as I'm semi-retired ) but all are different and many here did quite well. I think the worst time generally is before you get the path report and then figure out just what is right for you to do. At least now there are many drugs will help tremendously with the side effects so much more is possible. We are here for you.
Well I will chime in again a bit. Milk really is for kids ( though of course I use it in cereal and a little cooking ), and in fact, the milk sold in stores is not really good for kids either. There again, if people really KNEW how adulterated almost every single thing is -- I did mention earlier that our bodies are marvelous as we have bombarded ourselves with herbicides, pesticides, asbestos, all sorts of heavy metals --- and finally some people have problems with the onslaught of it all.
Another thing ---- and please don't see this as argumentative, but many baby formulas have a lot of soy because so many babies react to the regular formulas and like my own 38 year old son, that was the only thing that would not cause him extreme colic to the point of failure to thrive. So many Dr.'s have been aware for many years that people, including babies, have trouble with intolerance to milk. I take my Dr's advice and don't use milk for the most part other than in cereal or cooking from time to time. Milk is for small children for the most part and actually most babies would do best with breast milk. I have no fear for what little I use so I use Vanilla Silk Soy. I would suggest to Google the question if you are fond of milk. It is not truly very good for adults -- no matter what kind it is.
Great day today at the House of Hope Spaghetti dinner. More came then I would have thought since it was Super Bowl. I was afraid no one would come, but we had nearly standing room only for a good part of the day. Hoping we did well so that we can keep up the work of finding great homes for some wonderful pets who would have ended up being destroyed. I'm exhausted but happy and looking forward to my next volunteer day which is Wednesday.
Hope you are all enjoying Super Bowl and being with family and friends.
Hang in there Marina.
Hugs, Jackie

MakMak,
See, I got your name right this time!
Hopefully you will be able to shop during treatment. I don't work outside the home, but I sure do lots of work at home, and I continued that through chemo. I think you'll be going to Babies R Us, and picking up cute things for your little one.
Like Susan, I'm not sure I should post doctors names here, but I sent you a private message. Hang in there, you've found friends who will help you get through this.

Uh....morning all....6-12" coming our way and if that wasn't bad enuf on a Monday morning I just heard a story about a military guy who is in jail, after waterboarding his 4 year old daughter becasue she couldn't recite the alphabet correctly and he knew she was deathly afraid of water. . Oh please....let me alone with this guy for 5 minutes....please!
Marina....well, like Kater said...welcome to the club that no one wants to join. You are at, in most of our opinions, the worst part. The waiting, waiting, waiting. And you have a new baby. And you are the bread-winner. Your stress level must be out the door! I don't have any names for you but I did go to Northwestern for a 2nd opinion.....and another new gal here is going to Rush for her 2nd. Heck...get a thrid opinion if you want. Let us know how we can help....I do know that smerf and Susan have pm'd you with names of docs so that is a good start. I did chemo after my lumpectomy and I had zero side effects. Yep....zero. Well, except for my hair of course. And yes, I was extremely lucky as I know some of the gals here had their bad days for sure...but then, most of the days were "ok". So.....truthfully....you will probably be OK to work. Every one responds differently to chemo, and to the different types of chemo. So I guess what we are all trying to say is....we don't know how you will feel...and you won't know either! Until after you start the chemo...and it is cumulative so the side effects, if you get them, will also probably worsen. Probably. But maybe not. See what I mean! Chemo tho...and we all agree....was quite "doable" and went quickly. There are so many drugs out there to help you thru chemo so don't worry about that too much. You will probably be more tired than usual and may have to work a bit less. Hopefully you have a wonderful boss who will totally get it...and maybe you can work at home sometimes? That would be great for you as well.
Laura...thanks for the info...yikes! Soybean oil in the omega3 too! Yep...just weigh things for yourself. For me....fish oil and D benefits far outweigh the 2-3 drops of soy.
Jackie....You have been drinking soy milk for a long time, correct? So for you....that works! I do drink a glass of skim milk (no BGH) every day and I eat yogurt from Target (also no BGH). I don't think milk or any dairy is bad for you. Sorry guys! I've done this for 30-40 years so I see no reason to stop now. I have thrown out the salt shaker and have cut out all alcohol and TRY to limit sugar and have always eaten low-fat and low chol. Everything else I enjoy....in moderation. I would make myself crazy if I really looked at all the food labels! Heck...I can't even pronounce most of the words of the stuff that I take in!
Off to shower...to the gym...back to the doc's to get that D level finally drawn - correctly. Then...errands...just in case that snow fouls up Tuesday. Oh well....I really was hoping for an early spring!

"Today is not yesterday: we ourselves change; how can our
works and thoughts, if they are always to be the fittest,
continue always the same? Change indeed is painful; yet ever
needful; and if Memory have its force and worth, so also has
Hope."
