    Hello Friends:

I am looking for recommendations for an oncologist - preferably in the NW/West Chicago suburbs.  I want to find someone who is caring, open minded and takes time to get to know me as an individual vs a statistic.  The onc I met with recently, while very smart and well-intentioned I just didn't connect with and it's critical for me to feel I have a partner I can trust as I know I'll be seeing this person for awhile.  I like to take a holistic approach to my health and think there's much more to survival than drugs.  I would greatly appreciate any referrals you may be able to provide.

    Thank you!

Hello everyone!  I am 35 years old and have a breast biopsy tomorrow after a sonogram from today.  Doctor thinks it might a Radial Scar, but isn't sure and wants a biopsy.  Regardless it needs to come off.  Cancer or no caner.  I will have my results on Friday....Day after Thanksgiving.  I am only 35 and have to small Children.  I HATE this wait and fear the worst.

Can anyone recommend a good surgen in Peoria, IL to remove the abnormal tissue?

Hi everyone checking in I am 12 post op  it is going by fast I went to the BS again today and got all the patholgy  reports and they had found more cancer in the left breast now how could that have been missed I am glad that they found it and got it all She suggested chemo and i have decided to take it i just hope i made the right decision  the Dr said with my family history it could come back in another part of my body it is a 15 percent chance  but is it one i want to take if i do not take the chemo?  So I have the drains for another week  which sucks but she wants to make sure all the fluid is out  and I am doing almost 60 cc's on each side  on the brighter side I don't need the pain meds as much and I have been walking around outside  and went shopping. My daughter took me for a pedicure and a manicure  for my birthday we had a great time SmileSmile Hope every one is doing great

momto7 sounds like you are doing great. Yeah at times they find more, and sometimes less than they thought once they get in there. Our current imaging technology isn't perfect. At times things hide and other times it can exaggerate size. Glad they found it all. I had a small amount of LCIS that the MRI did find in the "good" breast. I feel pretty lucky it was found. Keep us posted on your progress.  Happy belated Birthday… and many many more!

momto7, you sound very together and it truly sounds to me that you are making a great decision about the chemo.  It is hard on some but very doable for most. Good for you for moving ahead so quickly with big decisions.

Thanks so much!  The biopsy wasn't too bad...Doctor said it's either a Radial scar or caner.  50/50 chance.  I am going to keep my fingers crossed.  She said it was about 1cm so hopefully if it is cancer it's small and hasn't spread.

Just got back from a beautiful trip to Hawaii, and I'm not really complaining, but I'm tired! What a long flight, but well worth it. Taking the kids out today, so no cooking. Feels strange. Also, the last three years my DH has been working, so no one watched football. I almost forgot about it, but he is already planted on the couch in eager anticipation.

I want to wish you all a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday. I'm thankful for, and thinking of each and every one of you!

I hope Thanksgiving day provides each of you the blessing of being among those you love in reality if not in spirit.  We DO have so much to be thankful for.  I will be spending the day with my best friend and her daughter and my two daughters, grandkids, SIL and my wonderful husband.  Indeed I feel blessed!

Finally sat down - had a party for 37 people. Two turkeys (a 25 pounder in the oven and one 16 pounder deep fried). Since we are Greek we also had moussaka.

I want to wish all of you beautiful ladies a very Happy Thanksgiving and may this holiday season bring each and everyone of you good health and never ending joy.

Hi Laides....can anyone suggest a good oncologist in Peoria IL?  The one from Peoria that comes to my town is a real jerk and I don't think I can work with him.

    Hi, Kim--

I don't know where you are located in relation to Peoria, but my Urbana medical oncologist, who I like a lot, is in Gibson City one day a week. If this is helpful, send me a private message and I'll get her contact info to you.

I think it really helps to find someone you feel you can work with, so hang in there!
